He whispers to Eldon, "If your room is clear and quiet, at least for now, let's head to Kivuli's hall first as he has signs of the orcs ahead."

To Oro he replies "Confront them now before they confront us later. I doubt we can avoid them indefinitely and I prefer to on our terms, not theirs."

He then turns and whispers back to Kivuli in tien, "I figured much the same. I doubt they can be reasoned with, given the nature of their worship. We should move quickly while the blessings given by our more 'religious' members still hold. As scout, you are leading... the call for combat is yours."

When Crios comes to the room and calls his attention, the elf nods, then follows him to the next room. Once there he advances with Kivuli, moving stealthy and among the shadows to try help him surprise the orcs.

The wayang rogue makes sure the rest of the party is ready to rapidly assault the orcs. He intends for an overwhelming, and short, fight.

Just wondering if we should bait them over with some noise (thrown pebbles or the like) or rush them. Thoughts?

Crios moves into position opposite Eldon, so that any creatures that come through the wall are in a flanked position if Kivuli pulls them into the room. If not, he is satisfied he is close enough to rush into the room catching the unsuspecting orcs flatfooted.

The elf's skill grows rapidly!

Kivuli tries to lure the orcs into the room by scuffling his feet and dropping some pebbles into the room. He then makes some uncharacteristically loud footfalls as he backs away, sword at the ready.

Orophin remains still, knowing the others have much more skill in this area. But he is ready to dash in if there is a fight.

One of the orc thugs move towards the room that the group is in, while the other keeps his eye on the other hallway while shifting uncomfortably. Entering the room, the orc looks around with wide eyes and mutters under his breath.

As the orc enters in, Eldon attempts to stab him from behind, profiting Crios flank. A simple word enchants his rapier as it stabs on the humanoid.

The elf attempts to muffle the sounds from the orcish cry of pain by placing his hand over the orc's mouth and pushing him to the corner if he collapses.

Waki worries the other orc will let out a yell, so if Eldon and friends drop the first, Waki will try to sneak up on the other.

Putting his hand over the orc's mouth, Eldon slides his rapier into the creature as Crios hacks into its back. Keeping the brute from falling, the two lay the creature down silently around the corner.

Not dead yet, but a pretty good Stealth take down by you two!

At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to reroll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the reroll, even if it’s worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.

From behind, Kivuli stabs the orc from behind as Necress makes her presence known to the poor creature! Surprised at the attackers, and noticing that his partner was gone, he sneers as he steps back and pulls a bottle from his beltpouch. Quaffing the nearly clear liquid, he disappears from sight!

With the vanishing of the orc, Crios calls upon his innate ability to discern invisible creatures and points out the location of the creature to his friends as he closes the distance to cut the creature off from escape.

Standard action to activate see invisibility at CL4 for 40 minutes. Racial spell-like ability 1/day from plumekith aasimar. I'm not sure where the orc really is on the map, but Crios will move to block the exit, even if that means provoking an AoO. I moved on the map, but if I move one more block south, the creature could move without provoking from me, if he is in the circle space, and I didn't want that. BTW, since Crios is now in range to see, what is south of us?

Kivuli darts up to the aasimar's side in an attempt to box their prey between them.


No worries Crios, as our orc friend doesn't seem to have a weapon out!

Crios rushes into the room, using their innate power and points out where the orc is towards Waki. Attacking the air, the tengu feels his blades cut flesh and as he swings a third time, feels nothing resisting the Ninja's blade as a thump at his feet is heard.

Out of Combat!

Crios, headed towards the hallway finds another room, the floors covered in more scorch marks, and a hole that leads further than his sight can see. The opposite end of the room leads to a central chamber, with a feint light coming from the central dias.

On the orcs, the group finds four oils, three potions, two +1 leather armor, twelve daggers, two masterwork short swords, and 436 gold.

Crios will take 10 on spellcraft for an 18 and cast detect magic for auto successes on the oils and the potions. He will share the info with the group and they can look under the spoilers.

Crios begins to quietly cast a spell and his eyes gain a subtle glow for a moment and he focuses his gaze on the magical oils and potions of the two slain orcs. "Well done friends. Looks like we have more useful items here. Take what you can use, but lets press on. Make sure everyone has at least one alchemical fire though. Those have been very handy in my brief career."

Crios takes none of the items but offers them to the group. He will carry anything others want in his pack if they need him too because of weight restrictions.

Following Kivuli, again at a distance to be safe, Crios tries to maintain the element of stealth that has thus far been successful.

at least once an adventure it seems I run into swarms, and it always comes down to who did and who didn't have an alchemist fire, lol. I half expect swarms in a VC office to come pouring out during a briefing.

Eldon casts detect magic and studies the orc materials. He is up to say something when Crios explains the nature of the objects.

The elf picks the gold and one of the oils in addition to one of the indivisibility pot.

Eldon then nods to Kivuli and keeps moving through the complex with his rapier ready to strike.

He shakes his head slowly and a small smile forms as he moves through the darkened rooms, surveying all he can. "but later...oh yes, later there will be a conversation."

I think we just keep heading in the same direction with the same tactics. Stealth up front and the rest of us dashing in to mop up the mess that is left at the end :-)

I agree, we should continue following our scouts' lead, and they seem to be taking us south. How about the room Kivuli, Eldon and Crios are in now? What do we make of it and the rooms that surround it? Can we make out any sights, sounds or smells near enough for us to notice?

Kivuli and Hiro stay ever vigilant for orcs, but the room they peer into appears to be empty, save for the stone visage of a horrifying creature with several tentacles for a face sitting in the corner of this room. The creature appears to be rearing back in preparation to strike. Rubble is strewn about the floor of the room. (Not difficult terrain or anything, just lots of broken stone.)

Two separate paths lead from the rubble-strewn room, one curving back towards the west, another wider passage leading further southeast.

Reading through your previous work, it seems you guys are pretty stealthy and efficient. I will present anything you could see at a cursory glance as part of the room description, as well as anything a single perception check would get you. To keep things moving, if something requires a check, is anyone offended if I roll those for you?

Crios slips closer, to better guard the scouts' flank while they move ahead. He silently motions to Kivuli to take the southeast passage.

The group of adventurers moves forward, covering each other as they head around the southeast corner of the room with the creepy statue. It leads to a small recess with a stairway leading down. Whatever tectonic event that exposed the crypt, however, has severed the passageway connecting it to lower levels. A bit of exploratory excavation proves fruitless.

With the southeast passage collapsed and impassable the party heads down the western passage, cautious for any signs of danger.

At this point I will hold off and wait for the group to catch up. The group is fairly spread out now but they are a bit closer than the map represents. Crios will refresh his dancing lights spell as needed for those without darkvision. Eldon and Kivuli are up front with Crios and Waki within a move action to join them followed by Necress and Orophin to the rear by just under a double move.
