Shin rushes forward and finishes off the standing giant and he along with Brom chop the poor giant that was laughing.

Pallas scans the horizon for any further threats, his scimitar still held in his hand. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

"This Storm Queen must really hate us. And what strange allies she has!"

Pallas sees no other threats. Just the quiet early morning sky before the birds start chirping.

Dora starts tending to her wounds and burns on Rusty.

Davo pulls out a similar wand and presses the "on" switch

He then turns the wand on Brom.

Pallas uses up his less-powerful spells to heal himself. 4XCLW: 4d8 + 20 ⇒ (7, 7, 8, 6) + 20 = 48

He then goes back to bed and hopes that nothing else happens that night.

Forgot Shin's Reflex from the last Fireball. Reflex vs DC 16: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Shin uses two charges from his wand (IH) and heads back to bed as well.

You all go to bed and nothing else happens during the night. Hours later, you wake up to a storm! A massive thunderhead rumbles in the sky, with flares of lightning stabbing the darkness the storm brings. Davo and anyone else who can make a DC15 Nature check knows that this storm is not natural.

Davo wakes up humming a tune.

"Iacta alea est" muses Davoliznakamushka in ancient Azlanti. He casts extended heroism on himself and Brom'mash (using his rod twice)

Pallas wakes up amidst the strange weather. "I think the storm has come."

Is there time to warn the town? Then again, the storm is a pretty good indicator to stay indoors ;)

Pallas then casts a feather step spell on himself. He looks around to his companions, "Anyone else want to move a bit easier?"

If it looks like the proverbial manure is about to hit the fan I will stick about. If I think there is some time, I will try to help the town.

Then I will run about the town after casting my spell on anyone who wants it first. I will never move very far from where the others are (not more than 200 yards). I'll tell people to stay indoors and lock their doors and perhaps seek shelter underground if there is a place to hide.

All the townsfolk promptly lock their doors and bar their windows.

Brom returns to the helpful scholar for a quest update.

After a day of research, Thedan provides you with a few intriguing details, gleaned from an obscure text on giants and dragons of importance: "Zoarth apparently once lived with a cloud giant “bird maven” named Verakas far to the south. During this time, Verakas seemed to have died under mysterious circumstances. Although no one knows what happened for sure, all of Verakas's birds were apparently killed and eaten by a large number of cats. Zoarth told others that Verakas died of a mysterious ailment, but no one ever saw a body. And I also found someone who can get you aeronautical transport. There is a druid who apparently lives nearby who has a flock of griffons. His name is Xeruit. Just tell him what you plan on doing and he should be able to help you."

Brom nods in understanding and looks to his mistress's gnomish patron. "We should put thought toward meeting this druid."

After bidding Thedan farewell, the party makes their way to an old hut on the outskirts of Jol. You see a flock of Griffons roaming the grounds freely.

Davo would consider petting one, but is intimidated by the fact his body is "snack sized".

"Hello... anybody home? We're here to borrow griffons to deal with this unnatural weather, it's creator, and the artifact enabling them. Thedan suggested we talk to you."

He yells this before trespassing, and again to whomever opens the door if nobody answers the first time outside.

An Elven man opens his door, looking at you curiously. "Thedan sent you? Come inside." You says inviting you in.

Pallas holds the door open for the others, then keeps watch for the Storm Queen or her minions outside.

Brom dutifully follows the professor inside.

You all make your way inside and take a seat down on chairs made of tree stumps. "Tell me more. What have you learned? I do notice the unnatural storm. You know what is causing it?"

"We believe something called the Orb Beyond - an artifact dedicated to vengeance. Apparently us of a diminutive stature have been caught up in the acts of vengeance of the much larger folk. A conflict involving one Verakas, now dead, one Zoarth, and one self-proclaimed "Storm Queen". The later is who we believe to be directly responsible for the current inclement weather - not to mention assaults upon or using innocent bystanders. Nasty business, really."

Davo talks as he uses prestidigitation to warm some water for tea, which he offers to all.

"Interesting. So you need my griffons to launch an assault? Hmmm.. I can lend them to you. But you are responsible if anything happens to them. Does that sound fair?"

"I think those here can agree to try and minimize the griffons direct involvement in the battle. Hopefully, we can use your noble friends primarily as conveyance." He looks over to Brom'mash. "Uh, you do have one large enough to carry our man-at-arms, here?"

"Oh wow! Real griffons? Goldwing would love to see them." she holds out a small bronze figure as if she was going to do something with it.

"oh Rusty I better save him incase we need to get back down. ."

"Yes, I have a rather bulky tercel who should be able to carry your friend. I can give one to each of you for transport. It is a worthy cause."

So Xeruit waves you off as you each borrow a griffin and take to the skies to the massive cloud in the sky. Not long after entering the cloud, you encounter a patrol! Two armored hill giants riding the massive birds known as Rocs are accompanied by a blue dragon. The dragon roars and the giants raise their halberds high in the air.

But before anyone can engage in combat, a random bolt of lightning strikes Dora and her mount!

Can Shin have used his wand of Mage Armor on himself and Brom (and anyone else) before lifting off?

Also, FYI, my Init mod is normally +6. It was +8 earlier because I had cast Good Hope, so I will be acting on initiative count 12 for this combat.

ok, thanks. Spells restored :-). Since I cannot get both giants in the burst, include the dragon and h2/r2 at least, as unlikely it will work but worth a shot.

Davo asks his mount to fly within 30' of the northern mount and giant.
He begins to lecture that foe on the futility of fighting thopse who are obviously protagonists.

He then casts Hold Monster DC 21, plus -2 penalty on the Roc.

One of the Rocs stop moving.

Pallas flies to the middle of his group of griffons and casts his haste spell, while pulling out pulling out his bow. Ride check to guide with knees (DC 5): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Shin casts a spell and sends missiles of force streaking toward the southern roc.

Yep, the roc falls to its doom and so does its rider. Brom!

Shin's missiles pelt the southern bird.

Brom puts his heels to his mounts sides and hacks at the surviving giant's flank.

The Roc reaches out with its beak and pecks the Taldan. The giant gets an idea after Davo does his spell and guides his mount to attack the gnome or rather the gnome's griffon.

The dragon takes a bite as it leaves.

The giant hefts his halberd and swings at the griffon.

Davo casts feather fall on himself, and whichever of his allies happen to be within a 20' circle. He follows it with cure serious wounds on his mount.
