Brom hits another massive blow. "Cowards!" She yells before striking at one of the few targets left, Shinkeer.I believe that hits.
Can I bodyguard that? If so, 1d20 ⇒ 8, and I add +8 to his AC.
Pallas Morningstar
|
So here's another question: Since Brom is now invisible, can I use Timely Inspiration and Gallant Inspiration to affect his attack rolls; i.e. do I need to be able to see him to know that he's missed?

Brom continues to lay his fury on the mighty giantess.
Primary with luck, song, gnome, invis, and hope: 1d20 + 19 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 19 + 11 = 49
Damage: 1d12 + 27 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 27 + 6 = 43
Iterative: 1d20 + 14 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 11 = 37
Damage: 1d12 + 27 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 27 + 6 = 34
Pallas Morningstar

Brom, did you forget discordant voice again? That affects all allies within 30', and is NOT targeted.
Realizing that the giantess' armor of tougher than anything he's ever encountered before, Pallas makes his attacks more precise, and less damaging. (I.e. no power attack)
attack1: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (6) + 27 = 33
damage1: 1d6 + 18 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 18 + (5) = 27
attack2: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37
damage2: 1d6 + 18 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 18 + (4) = 25
attack2 potential crit confirm: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37
attack2 potential crit damage: 1d6 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24

Thanks Pallas!
Shin concentrates on avoiding the vicious swings of the giantess as he casts a spell, vanising. Then moves backward, hoping his spells have a better chance of injuring the giant.

Dora continues to sing and rides to get a clear lane to will fire her bow at the giants head.
longbow, Song, gnome: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 2 + 3 = 32 for damage : 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 + (5) = 15
longbow, Song, gnome: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 2 + 3 = 17 for damage : 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 + (3) = 10
"Ah phooey! "
Pallas Morningstar
|
Pallas looks around at his companions after the tough fight. "Who here is hurt?"
Dora D Asplora
|
Dora looks at herself and surprised, says "Wow, I think I am ok..." she pulls out a wand and looks to see if others need healing.
I get the impression we were not supposed to have fought this giantess here.
Davoliznakamushka

"Yes, yes, I agree with my capable colleague. Let us not waste this opportunity and gather intelligence about our mysterious foe." He will some bandages to staunch her wounds. Take 10 for 19 for first aid
Dora D Asplora
|
"I am not sure how you bind a giantess to interrogate her. I would normally use ropes, but in her case a chain or cable seems necessary" Dora ponders.
Davoliznakamushka
|
The gnomish professor searches nearby for any remaining Ulfen. "Excuse me, we need to bind this giant and interrogate it. Might we borrow some chaing?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26

Pallas walks over to the gnome. "We need you in top shape, Davo. Here, take this." The Keleshite breathes a quick, healing incantation.
Cast cure critical wounds: 4d8 + 11 ⇒ (3, 8, 4, 5) + 11 = 31
Pallas Morningstar
|
Once he has seen many of Davo's wounds close up, he looks around to his companions. "If you don't mind, perhaps I should do the talking. I've done a fair amount of prisoner interrogation in my day, and she has seen the edge of my blade. I might be a bit more intimidating to her."
Once we actually have her tied up with something stronger than rope, Pallas will again cast good hope if it's duration has expired by then.
Pallas Morningstar
|
I'm assuming that Brom does the tying of the chains and that we're all standing by with weapons drawn in case she attempts any shenanigans. Anybody else want to do anything before we begin waking her?
Dora D Asplora
|
Dora will ensure the giant is far from the Morningstar and any packs or components she might have.... Especially if anything detects as magic once Dora casts the spell.
Pallas Morningstar
|
Pallas stands back and blasts enough healing spells into the giant to rouse her from unconsciousness. "Hello again, giant. We may not look like much, but we have the ability to make your life a living hell if we so chose. Sarenrae has no patience for those who attack unarmed civilians. You have a chance of walking away from this, and I am giving you this one chance: tell us all you know about your mistress and this attack, and you can find some nice, far-off hole in the Tusk Mountains to live out the rest of your life. Chose silence and your life is forfeit."
Intimidate+ 3 autoassists: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (18) + 31 = 49

"For the record, I attacked no one. You assaulted me. And as far as the civilians go. I was not the one who heroically ran away from them as they dissolved people. And are you really going to kill an unarmed helpless woman? I guess youd reputations as murderous vagrants is accurate. My mistress is the Storm Queen and she will have her vengeance, whether I live or not. Do as you wish, 'heroes'."
Davoliznakamushka
|
Davo rubs the deep scar left on his shoulder. "Oh? Entreating for conversation and dispelling magic to hide your true form counts as some form of assault; while hitting someone with a sword counts as self-defense. I must keep that in mind."
He sighs. "Firstly, your greatness simply sat there while people where dying to these monster, when clearly you were capable of so much more. Secondly, I will remind your righteous self that gelatinous cubes to not just fall from the sky - one may intuit that the magic of some nature must be involved. In this case, our researches indicate that your mistress has probably found the orb beyond, an artifact drawn to those who seek vengeance."
"However, judging from your reaction, I imagine this orb must influence the minds of those around it as well. Your hatred of us is essentially beyond reason. I fear it may be magical in nature"
Davoliznakamushka
|
Davo rubs his sinuses in frustration. "Except spells that disguise your true nature and purpose. Your cryptic answers do nothing to help solve this situation. I intuit that we have been under observation since we arrived in this town. Was this supposed to be some sort of test, a way to judge our capabilities? Or perhaps your mistress is not fully in control of her artifact, and this weather is a side effect? Do the unquiet spirits of vengeance it summons not bother you in the slightest?"
He climbs upon her chest and looks down again into her eyes.
"I will ask you again: what grievance does your mistress have with Zoarth, that she crafts items of powers and cajoles tribes of weak-minded giants into doing her bidding? If you will not answer this one simple question you have no right in claiming to be anything other then a zealot and pawn. Frankly I find these continued insults and twisting of words tiresome and my desire to broker peace is quickly waning."
| DM Amazing Red |
"You have been. I mean adventurers asking questions about my mistress draws attention. She is in full control of her powers. The spirits of vengeance do what they need to do." She then glares back at the gnome standing on her giant chest. "Well you could ask Zoarth, though I doubt he would tell you the truth. Or you could ask my queen yourself when she arrives, it is not for me to say. She was wronged my Zoarth and demands vengeance. There is no twisting of words here, just truth, hero."
Pallas Morningstar
|
"And how did you inform her? How do you communicate?"
Shinkeer Aswander
|
Shin listens intently, trying to discern if she is really communicating with her mistress.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Pallas Morningstar
|
Pallas lifts a quizzical eyebrow. "So you are a mage then? I did not know that giants can communicate with birds."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Dora D Asplora
|
"Wow, trained birds. That is so cool. See they giant sized birds or just regular size?"
Pallas Morningstar
|
"I see," says Pallas. He looks over to Brom and points at the giantess. "Brom, would you mind watching her for sec? If she makes a move to flee or harm someone, hurt her." The Keleshite picks up a piece of masonry off the ground and intones a spell of silence on it, dropping it near the storm giant's head. He then gestures for the rest of the group to meet him outside of the spell's effect.
Once everyone is gathered, he calmly states: "Well, what do we do with her? She has answered our questions, but we cannot simply put her in jail. No jail here will hold her, and we cannot simply execute her. Are there other options?"
Davoliznakamushka
|
"She is party to the murder of the townsoflk. Perhaps not directly, but associated all the same. I'm sure you could turn her over to the local authorities. I'm certain they would certainly show all due restraint." the gnome professor sarcastically quips to the dervish.
Dora D Asplora
|
"Strategically speaking, she is just a knight or bishop in this game. We need to press on and deal with the queen."
Dora recalls some bits of ancient history dealing with such a vengeful figure, trying to find parallels and draws a blank.
Davoliznakamushka
|
"The Taldan Empire has had long and bountiful interactions with the Ulfen peoples; they make excellent guards. I would hate to see a town full of future potential recruits go to waste. Perhaps we should warn the town to prepare for further assault; arm themselves and seek some manner of protection."
Brom'mash of Taldor
|
That's not bad.
Content with his findings, Brom takes Davo aside.
"These men are talented fighters but not prepared for fighting giants. Use them as you see fit but do not expect their courage to last long against a real threat. The bulk of the fighting will be on us."
