Tanic PBP |
"Well, sounds like he's making his way via the watercourse. If we followed the sound of the water we might be able to intercept him, right?"
Harro Boulderbran Grimcrater |
Harro shivers and whispers harshly.
"Let's git-gone! I didna' like t'is place."
Vinexa |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
While she heard Droki muttering about missing mushrooms Vinexa couldn't quite hear what the chanting was about. She was ready to get the derro and finish what they came here for when Tanic asked about the chanting. She didn't hear the words but the names were familiar when he said them. The fact that he said Demigorgon at first threw her off, though she recognized the name from the fish men, the second one demogorgon seemed to send a shiver down her spine. She thought on what she knew of demonic lore as the name scratched at something.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
trying to ID who, or what, Demogorgon is and what it's connection to Nocticula might be as far as alliance/enmity
Tanic PBP |
Assume we leave and are going to attempt to find the watercourse and Droki unless someone says otherwise, though hitting those worhippers may be the better plan. A summoned Demogorgon sounds like a really bad idea.

Re Demogorgon: Known as the Prince of Demons and the Sibilant Beast, Demogorgon spends most of his time in a region of the Abyss known as the Gaping Maw, only rarely leaving. Nocticula is wary and distrustful of most of the more powerful Demonlords (with the exception of Socothbenoth) She doesn't have a particular enmity with Demogorgon and the two generally avoid each other as far as you are aware. The chanting heard sounds more like prayers of veneration than a summoning ritual. The chanting seems to be coming from somewhere in the tunnels, although you cannot quite pinpoint it.
Re Droki: Based on your knowledge of the tunnels so far it seems like Droki had to take the middle passage at the first threeway junction you came across and had to swim across the water there. By backtracking back to the junction with the mushrooms patch you should therefore come across his trail, or if you shrink down and pass through the crack in the wall here there's a fairly good chance that you end up ahead of him and can set up an ambush.
tldr: Head back to find Droki's tracks or push on and hopefully be able to ambush him. Keeping an ear open for cultists is advised either route.
Tanic PBP |
Ambush!
"Well, I don't see any signs of water from here, but we keep hearing it. I don't want to go back so how about we head through that crack up there."
EmEss |
Shrinking down again you head through the crack. You see signs of the tiny tracks also having come this way before and in a short while end up in another passageway. The tiny tracks continue to the North-east, while from the south west you can hear the sounds of someone approaching.
GM roll: 1d10 ⇒ 7
Harro Boulderbran Grimcrater |
Smiling at the possibility of surprising a foe, Harro activates his natural invisibility and moves out of the direct path of whomever is coming, but stays near enough to effect the person coming as they move past, if needed.
Stealth+Invisibility: 1d20 + 3 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 20 = 42
Tanic PBP |
Tanic does his best at hiding too.
Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 4
and tries to pretend to be a boulder in plain sight!
Ha! that should fool him!
Vinexa |
Vinexa moved to hide as well when the others did. She was going to be ready for these creatures to come for her and she wanted to get one to herself, all this size shifting had made her hungry and a full Vinexa meant safe fun with Talindra later.
stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Talindra Misraria |
Stealth (assuming dim light): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30.
Talindra eagerly awaited her quarry. It didn't seem like Tanic was hiding very well, but then again a single talkative cave druid would probably not seem so threatening. Confusing and verbose, perhaps, but that was in Tanic's nature.

It's just hard to sustain a PbP. I really wish we could've figured out what was causing the tear.

We can always try to find another GM. I've had some good success with that in other groups. Someone would have to contact our current GM if possible) and then post a GM recruitment. Lot's of GMs looking for dedicated players.
