Tanic tries to stick his acidic dagger in some poor whips back - or front - he's not picky.

"Sorry." he says as he plunges the dagger towards the person.

Sorry again. Had exams this week. Thought I would still be able to post but time slipped away from me. I probably should have foreseen this.

The whip Harro is fighting goes down.

Tanic stabs one of the whips in the back.

The kuo-toa Akri zapped tries to stab him with its spear and misses.

After seeing how quickly Harro dispatched one of the Whips none of the Kuo-toa guards are eager to get close to him. Instead one throws the net it is carrying at him entangling him. half speed, -2 attack rolls, -4 dexterity. DC 15 strength check, DC 20 escape artist or 5 slashing damage to free .

The Whip facing Micar strikes him with his whip and tiny barbs latch onto his skin doing 6 damage and entangling him. Cannot disengage from Whip , -2 attack rolls, -4 dexterity. DC 15 escape artist to free . It tugs on the whip, trying to pull Micar off balance and leans in to bite him but Micar leans back and avoids the bite.

The guard Talindra shot thrust forward with its spear held in both hands. The spear tip sinks deep into her flesh causing 8 damage.

Tanic is also caught by his opponent's whip and likewise feels tiny barbs latching into his skin causing 5 damage and entangling him See Micar

The Kuo-toa Vinexa tried to grapple appears confused and flustered. He tries to throw his net at her but somehow manages to end up entangled in it himself!

Near the altar, Bloopy and her Father both seem to have cast the same spell. The pair of them are surrounded by ghostly, spiritual fish, swimming through the air. Half are fey-like in appearance while the other half are clearly fiendish. They seem to strike out at any who approach the archpriests, repelling them.

DC 14 Arcana:

The spell cast was Spiritual Guardians which I've converted from 5th Edition. It will do Radiant or Necrotic damage to any who enter the area and fail a will save. It is possible for the caster to designate certain individuals to be unaffected by it.

DC 16 Arcana:

The two spells seem to be interacting strangely, with the fey fish often darting in front of the fiendish fish and preventing them getting too close to Ploopy and vice versa for Bloopy. It's possible that if Ploopy designated an individual to be unaffected by his spell that his daughter's spell may also fail to harm them.

The priests around the altar continue with their chanting. They seem aware of the fighting going on but seem to consider their chanting to be more important than intervening.

The fighting continues to be fiercest at the water's edge and there are now a few corpses rolling in the waves.

The Duergar prisoner has freed himself and appears to have disappeared into the crowd.

Akri and Vinexa can consider their actions to take place before or after the Kuo-Toa depending on what they prefer. Technically Tanic's action should have come last in the initiative order but I didn't notice until after I'd typed his action and he provoked a Whip so I'll let it stand as is. Let that be a lesson to you.

The Kuo-Toa either manages to just slip out of your grasp or you manage to maintain the grapple but you are now both tangled together in the net. Your choice.

@Harro Standard action to free yourself. 8 is sufficient to cut the net. I'd say that cutting a net with a small weapon like a knife doesn't need a roll to hit but using a larger weapon like your axe does require a roll (although the AC is pretty low, just avoid fumbling)

As a move action, Micar would like to get into a flanking position with one of his allies. I'm not sure what the battlefield really looks like at this point. He'll use Acrobatics if it's possible.

Getting into a flanking position is certainly possible. The battlefield is basically in a series of loose concentric rings at this moment, with the altar and all the priests in the centre, you guys and the guards fighting in a loose circle around that (with you more on the inside) and then an outer ring of fighting kuo-toa.

We're just waiting on Akri now before we move on to Round 3 I believe

The kou-toa Vinexia is 'grappling' struggles and squirms but is unable to break free. Their struggles weaken considerably as her lips lock onto theirs but do not stop entirely. You feel as if about half his vigour has gone

The Priest Tanic stabbed makes a number of feinting movements at Tanic but instead of attacking resumes chanting again, slightly out of time with the rest at first before gradually getting back in sync.

The two arch-priests have apparently given up trying to persuade the other to back down, switching to far more deadly attacks, as the pair are struck by an enormous bolt of lightening. It's not entirely clear which of the two cast the spell that called it, but both are beginning to show pretty significant injuries.

A chill wind is beginning to pick up across the lake and there is noticeable turbulence. You feel the hairs on the back of your neck begin to rise. Four or five kou-toas, of unclear allegiance decide to make a break for it.

Damage!: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13

CMB vs, CMD Bull Rush!!!: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34

Bull Rush:
If your attack is successful, your target is pushed back 5 feet. For every 5 by which your attack exceeds your opponent’s CMD you can push the target back an additional 5 feet.

An enemy being moved by a bull rush does not provoke an attack of opportunity because of the movement unless you possess the Greater Bull Rush feat. You cannot bull rush a creature into a square that is occupied by a solid object or obstacle. If there is another creature in the way of your bull rush, you must immediately make a combat maneuver check to bull rush that creature. You take a –4 penalty on this check for each creature being pushed beyond the first. If you are successful, you can continue to push the creatures a distance equal to the lesser result. For example, if a fighter bull rushes a goblin for a total of 15 feet, but there is another goblin 5 feet behind the first, he must make another combat maneuver check against the second goblin after having pushed the first 5 feet. If his check reveals that he can push the second goblin a total of 20 feet, he can continue to push both goblins another 10 feet (since the first goblin will have moved a total of 15 feet).

@GM: Just curious! Did knocking the Priestess though the swirling spell effect that surrounded their fight do anything to her?

@Harro Ooh thanks for reminding me of that. She should have taken quite a bit of additional damage from that. Minor retcon coming

As Bloppblippodd is sent flying away from the altar she is struck by several of the fey-like spectral fish. She hits the ground hard and doesn't get up.

Upon seeing this the other worshipers of the Deep Father give a desperate cry. Some throw down their weapons and drop to the floor, while others continue to fight with increased frenzy.

Another sound rises above the burbling cries of the kuo-toa. The dark surface of the water farther out bubbles and foams. A thick, oily tentacle bursts forth, followed by another. Then two monstrous heads break the surface, both resembling hideous, angry baboons with wicked curved tusks. Both are attached to a single torso, and the monster's red eyes burn with bloodlust and madness. The creature rising from the Darklake must stand thirty feet tall or more, with water cascading down its back and shoulders. Upon reaching its full height, the great demon throws back both its heads and roars!

@Harro. You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment :p This module was actually published a year before Stranger Things aired.

Micar:
- It is abundantly clear that you are facing a very high level demon here, possibly even a demon lord? Such creatures are nigh invulvable, being immune to normal weapons and poisons and highly resistant to fire, acid and other attacks.

Talindra:
- You are pretty certain that the being rising out of the water is an avatar of Babi, the Osirian demigod of virility and servant to Osiris. You have no idea what it is doing here though. Or why the normally friendly and gentle Babi seems so angry. The second head seems new as well. Must be one of the ineffable god things.

BOATS! Why would you want to head INTO the water???

"What's wrong with THAT direction?"

Tanic is pointing in the opposite direction from the insane monstrosity.

Note: The docks with the boats refered to are quite a distance from where you are right now - about 5 to 10 minutes at a run away. By the time you reach the boats the Thing will certainly have reached your current location.

Because better to run where a bad thing has come from, than where it is going. Also boat faster than foot. Run that way if you want my stony friend, I'm going to the boats though the priest replies.

Seeing a fairly cohesive group moving with some degree of purpose, the duegar Harro freed decides to follow you.

Vinexa saw the thing coming from the water as soon as she finished draining her victim of his very essence and felt fear come over her. The only thing that kept her from losing some sanity was the simple fact that she was part demon. She worked on disentangling herself from the net so she could begin to flee as she looked around for Glabagool.

Perception to spot Glabagool: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Not sure if I can free myself from the net (or even need to).

So, we're all just running for lives now, right?

Sorry, the internet in my building went down and was only recently restored. Hopefully no more issues like that will come up and I can avoid these small delays in future.

@Harro Noted. The increased push to start with should give you a sufficient headstart to make up for slowing down slightly after that. You don't need to run faster than the creature after all, just faster than the person next to you.

@Vinexa I'd assume someone in the party will spot that you are still tangled up and assist in cutting you free (no roll necessary). You spot Glabbagool a short distance away with a dead (you hope) Kuo-Toa inside him.

You are indeed just running away now, unless there is anything else someone wants to *quickly* do. 'Babi' is a couple of minutes away from reaching the shore at this point and there are at least two dead Whips.

The fighting has completely stopped by now with some Kuo-toa running away, others frozen in fear, and even a few kowtowing in fervent worship.

Perhaps. I figured it was because the last post was his and thus he was waiting for the 'new' link to show up. Figured I'd produce one for him :)

You all make it safely to the boats. In the distance you can see the two headed beast destroying the Deep Father's Altar. There are numerous other Kuo-toa at the Docks trying to evacuate and numerous boats appear dangerously overloaded.

The same fish that attacked the Kuo-toa in the water during the fight are also present here, feeding on any who get too close to the water's surface.

'Ploopy' leads you to a large boat at the end of the dock where armed guards have succeeded in keeping most of the rabble away up to this point. You all hurry onto the boat and are greeted by Shushaar (who as a pacifist did not come with you to the altar). "I see things went well" he remarks dryly.

The crowd at the docks continues to grow and one of the Kuo-Toa sailors calls out "Should we push off?"

You all level up! You can also re-roll knowledge checks regarding what just happened. The boat you are on is at normal capacity.

WhoooHoo!! New level! =) Have I seen any sign of the other Duergar I rescued?

The other Duergar followed you from the fight and has joined you on the boat. He introduces himself as Hemeth and thanks you profoundly for his rescue. He explains that he is a

*ahem* "totally legitimate trader from Gracklstugh. I'd heard there were rising tensions this side of the lake but didn't expect those slimy fishfaces to try and sacrifice me. I've had deals go bad before but never that bad. The whole world is going mad I tell you!"

Glabbagool and the rest of the gang are also all present in case anyone wondered.

"What? Push-off? You kid'din me fish-face? GO!-GO!-GO!"

Harro shakes his head and grasps the other dwarf's hand.

"Gracklstugh huh? How fur we 'ways t' git there? I cudda' use some real civis'ation!"

The boat pushes off and soon the village recedes into the distance.

Perception 16:

Just before the shore completely disappears from sight you see two tall, slender humanoids cautiously approaching the village from the same direction you originally came from.

"I reckon we cud make it in four or five days if our fishy friends would be so 'bliged to take us there by boat, straight 'cross the lake. On foot, going the long way round, I'd say maybe three weeks depending on if you ran into any trouble. Speaking of trouble, what in the name of Laduguer's shiny bald head was that thing back there?" Hemeth replies.
