Smith picks up Scavenge Ammo: 1d24 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16 full AK-47 magazines.
Smith bangs on the side of the van as Carter and Majors reach it and pile in. No sooner the four of you get in, the dirt in front of the vehicle kicks up and you hear the sound of machine gun fire echo across the valley. Just ahead of you, on a hill, you can see a BTR-60 with a pintle mounted DSHK and a very angry looking DPRA manning it. He points in your direction and the APC revs its engine. Majors looks at Macomb. "Time to go?"
Go, Go, Go: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 4 = 13
Chase Time! Lead 6 (300ft.) Close Maneuvering. All of you are up!

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Only LAW I know about is the speed limit and I am about to shatter it. Macomb says as he slams the car forward willing it to accelerate faster.
Van, Mini: Size:L (2x3) OCC: 1+6 A/T: 4/4 MPH: 65/105 Def:9 DamSave: +7 Upg 1 COMP 20/+1 R/F: 7/G
Outfox: 1d20 + 9 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 4 + 2 = 31 Includes +4 for assumed highest top MPH as per table 6.1. Able to treat A/T as +2 due to Daredevil feat.
Any and all advantages go to Lead.
31-13 = 18 so 5 advantages so increase Lead by 3. Almost away.
Macomb weaves the minivan as if it were a high end sports car and quickly accelerates through all the gears to soon be approaching top speed drastically widening the gap between the Armed APC and their minivan.

Timothy K Smith |

Smith shakes his head and says, "The bleedin' rocket. F@+@ never mind!!!!"
Smith dips his head out the window and targets the The left side tires of the BTR, three round burst 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 if hits 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4) = 15
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 if hits 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2) = 9
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 if hits 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5) = 14

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Actually, some BTR-60P models had the DShK, but if you want me to give the bad guys a bigger gun... :-) Oh and my bad, the distance is actually supposed to be 30ft. Per lead point. APCs are Heavy Vehicles..
The armored vehicle spews diesel exhaust as it begins to close the distance, but Macomb spots a small dirt road that leads off to the side. He cuts to it and as the BTR predictably follows Macomb circles back through a group of village buildings and back to the main road. The enemy driver is slow to catch on and you see it pause as it tries to make up the time lost. Smith takes this time to fire at the tires, but it having eight of them, it doesn't slow down much. Yet.
Lead 9 (270 ft.), Close (Hills, scarce buildings, scarce trees.)
Lt. Driver, Parting Shot: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 2 = 12
Smith -6 called shot, -4 range, 1 hit, 15 damage.
BTR60 Tire Save v. DC 18: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
This may be a quick getaway... you guys are up. Carter, you can assist navigating or anything else you might think of to slow down your pursuers.

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Johnny after getting some separation decides to use a bit a clever maneuvering through cross streets to actually double back on the APC through a series of fast turns.
DoubleBack: 1d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 4 = 26
So Lead to 10
And +6 to Defense.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Tire Save v. DC 23: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38
Parting Shot, Autofire 3 v. Def 15: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 3 = 19
DShK Hit: 3d8 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1, 5) + 2 = 9
Van Save v. DC 14: 1d20 + 7 - 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 7 = 4
Macomb turns the van around and tears through some side roads between buildings. The lumbering BTR is too slow to keep up and you leave it in the dust. The gunner isn't that quick to give up and fires a burst towards you, putting big holes in the back of the van and shattering a window. One of the rounds zings by Carter and another destroys the headrest near Smith. He is only able to put one of the assault rifle rounds on target and it only sends up sparks as it ricochet of the armored wheel.
"That was close! S.o.b. didn't want to let me go.", Majors offers.
Act 1 Complete! On to the next step... the van has one failed save against it.
After travelling for a bit, Majors explains. "I didn't think I'd get out of there. I'm happy they sent you guys. Turns out there is more to this war than CNN is reporting. I've got an interview setup with one of the forward base commanders, but some of his friends don't like it, so they've chased me out. I have the documents for entry, if you can get us there safely. "

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

There is no hard time limit on this mission, so in between acts you can do things like that.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

At the next village, Smith spends a couple of hours going through the local junk pile, finding pieces of old generators, tractors and cars to put together enough stuff for Macomb to fix up the van.

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Smith returns with his hands full of junk parts. Macomb looks over them quickly and says.
Thanks Smith these should work nicely now if you and Ms. Carter could give me a hand it would be appreciated.
Macomb begins to repair the damage to the van.
I think if the others do an aid check I can get a +2 to the check as well I believe the DC is equal to the Van's COMP which is 20. But technically I guess the vehicle needs to be broken and then a single check would restore all 3 damage saves that a Large item has before becoming broken so not sure if you want to lower the DC or not. Also I don't have Mechanics Kit so the check gets a -4. Hoping to offset this with some aid checks from the others.
MechanicsRepair: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 4 = 7
Yikes horrid roll. Nevermind.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I'm lowering the DC because it isn't technically broken yet, just some minor nicks, so with the assist + the parts Smith found, you succeed.
After a couple of hours more, the van has a lot less holes in it, or at least it looks that way. The headrest is still missing in the front passenger side though...Either way, it's ready to go and is starting to look like it fits in out here in the wilderness. "I'm real glad you guys are with me," Majors says as he pats the van. "Maybe I'll be able to mention you in my article."
Ready for the next act or do you guys have anything else you want to do first?

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Right as rain now folks. Let's get aboard the crazy train is leaving soon. Next stop ... Macomb stops with a puzzled look on his face. Oh yeah Majors where is our next stop? Our mission brief mentioned you need extraction but also that we were to bring you to a little rendez-vous. Didn't give us a location or a name. So maybe now would be a good time to fill us in with a destination and maybe the rest on the way.
Johnny looked at the reporter waiting for some direction on where to head.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Majors nods and produces a map, after fiddling with several notes and receipts and what look to be citations of some kind. "Here it is. This forward base is housing a Soviet captain who is willing to talk and explain the situation to me. You have to understand how big this is. I know, it's probably just going to be a baby sitting job, but just to be on the safe side, I'm happy to see you guys with me. I've got our entrance paperwork, so there shouldn't be a problem."
It looks to be only a two or three hour drive to the base from where you are currently.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Scene II
A couple of hours later, you arrive at a Soviet forward base. After Majors' paperwork and a patdown search of weapons, you are allowed in to the see the base commander, one Captain Vasily Retsev. You are asked to wait outside while Majors conducts the interview.
You have an opportunity to attempt to hide any weapons on your person before you enter the camp. You may make those checks now. The base itself is made up of several long tents in rows. You are outside the biggest one. Next to you is two Soviet soldiers and each other. Your van is parked just outside the main gate. Next actions?

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Sorry work has been nuts
Macomb follows Smith after he leaves his sniper rifle in the van. He has a switchblade under his left upper arm and his PPK hidden behind his back.
StashSWitchblade: 1d20 + 3 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 12 = 22
StashPPK: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 4 + 12 = 30
Including the diminutive size bonus from page 349. Cap at 15 due to untrained. Missed that at first thanks Elise

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Search/Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
The soldiers, seeing that you have paperwork, only give you the most basic of cursory checks, even allowing you to walk in with your pistols on your person. Smith takes a look around and you notice that there are quite a few soldiers here. It being evening, it looks as if they are settling down for the night, policing the camp, getting chow ready, etc. The guards posted on the fence are being replaced by fresh eyes as you wait for Majors to finish his interview.
One of the soldiers near you decides to speak up. "Never known a girl to be bodyguard, eh tovarisch?"
The other answers, "Nyet, I bet she can barely lift that thing." He continues, this time in broken English towards Elise. "Hey, you good body guard? You work okay?"

Timothy K Smith |

Smith pipes up and says, "Солдат, вы, кажется, забыли свою собственную недавнюю историю. Во время Великой Отечественной войны некоторые из лучших советских воинов были женщины. Во всяком случае, ты откуда?"
Russian

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The soldier pauses for a moment and looks at Smith. He sighs and speaks. "Новосибирск. Я не знал, что вы говорили по-русски. Мои извинения вашей подруге."

Timothy K Smith |

Smith smiles, proffers a cigarette and says, "Не помогли бы вы.Я хотел бы посетить Новосибирск один день. Вы, ребята, в Афганистане просто чтобы убедиться, что у вас есть лучший Шашлык в мире? я шучу. Как дамы здесь в Афганистане сравнить с теми, в Новосибирске или в Ташкенте?"
Russian
Smith then turns to Carter, "They apologize for being rude. I had to remind them of the great achievements of Soviet ladies during the Great Patriotic War. Are you related to the president?"

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The soldier takes the cigarette and lights it. "Нельзя сказать, что у меня было много опыта здесь с ними, но как только я получить отпуск, вы можете поспорить, я буду выяснить." He smiles and winks at Carter, then takes a puff of the cigarette as he watches you two converse.
"Can't say that I've had much experience out here with them, but as soon as I get some leave, you can bet I will be finding out."

Timothy K Smith |

Smith goes back to the Russians and says, "Эти парашютисты сделали избить работу пару месяцев назад свержению Амина. Я видел некоторые действия в мой день.
Я был частью группы, воевавших на Nyadzonya около 3 лет назад. Это был какой-то здоровенный боевые действия, но мы убили немало террористов. Я надеюсь, что моя родина остается относительно мирным и новый президент будет справедливым для всех ".
Что вы, ребята делают для удовольствия здесь?"
Russian
I was part of the group who fought at Nyadzonya about 3 years ago. It was some hefty fighting but we killed a good deal of terrorists. I hope my homeland stays relatively peaceful and the new president will be fair to everyone."
What do you guys do for fun around here?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The soldier nods along, listening to Smith's story. "Да, жаль, что ваш дом все еще в смятении. Вы давно здесь? Мы только что слышали об одном из ваших авиалайнеров был сбит месяц назад или около того." He stops, letting out a long puff. "Большинство из нас просто играть в карты или кости ролл. Это все, что мы позволили обойтись без попадания в неприятности с капитаном."
A few moments later, Majors pokes head out. "About 15 more minutes. The captain had to use the restroom and I'm about done here. "
You have 15 minutes to complete the rest of the mission in this camp.

Timothy K Smith |

What are we supposed to do? other than get majors home safely
Russian
As he starts to hold his stomach.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

No fair reading my notes Smith! Seriously though, I know it wasn't 100% clear, but that was the point. During the interview, you are to surreptitiously recon the base and if you have time, plant a mole. Get someone to report to you. How you go about it up to you, as long as it's quiet...
The soldier simply shakes his head and points to an area just inside the fence, but near no tents. At the moment,no one is near the latrine. As Smith heads off, the soldier looks to Elise. "How long you have? I show you around? "
About that time, Macomb notices the sound of a helicopter in the distance. He isn't the only one as several soldiers move to clear a landing area...

Timothy K Smith |

it was either the chopper, the T72 or the AK74, driving off with a tank is a bit too nutty. and AK74 maybe but the scope is too small for 3rd level :).
Smith makes his way to the latrine and dips in real quick to see if anyone is around.
Notice 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Once the coast is clear, he starts to sneak around trying to be quiet and discreet and sneaking around 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Smith notices that there is no one at the latrine currently. He is able to slip away unnoticed in between a few tents as he starts navigating the camp.
Elise is led by the soldier over to the barracks. "This is where I dream of you.", he winks at her but continues on, taking her to the mess tent, the shooting range and around the gate perimeter. Eventually they make their way back to Macomb.
All in all, you determine that there is at least one rifle company here, about a hundred men with all the soldiers and logistics personnel. Their insignia tells you they are 5th Guards Regiment.
You look down at your watches and see that it has been more than 15 minutes and Majors hasn't come out yet..
