DM ShadowBloodmoon |

CIA? Wow. You never thought your skills would get you this far and now you have been assigned to be part of a Special Operations Team in Afghanistan. Your handler is Director Chavez himself, but he tells you little of the two agents your are sent to meet with at the safehouse in Pakistan. One is a soldier who spent some time in the African bush, goes by Smith. The other is a not-by-the-book pilot of all things that can be piloted, named Macomb. After some secret handshakes and other identifying transactions, they welcome you to the safehouse.
After a few days at the safehouse, the agent that was barely hinted at in the briefing arrives. She has all the right passphrases and paperwork and knows the mission: find Majors, get him out, take him to his appointment, bring him home. Milk run. Elise comes with something else besides the van and your gear though: A map and coordinates as to where Majors is currently. It doesn't look good.
Apparently some of the conflict has spilled across the Afghan border into Pakistan in a small village. Majors is there and very soon, so will be the DPRA. Time to get a move on...

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

I had made a post yesterday but it looks like it didn't save.
Alright so if there is no further questions or concerns let's saddle up. Macomb says jumping out of his seat and grabbing the keys from the new agent.
I'll drive. Trust me it's not a sexist thing. It's something else entirely.
Johnny heads for the door.
Oh yeah sometimes people call me Razor as in the razor's edge.

Elise Carter |

Elise tosses over the keys, Carter, Elise, I aim to keep you boys alive. Whether that's stitching you up or backing you up is fine by me.
Brief said you're a pilot, so I'll trust your reactions over mine - I can handle the wheel well enough if you need me to though
Elise tries to project a aura of machismo and bravado, trying to present herself as 'one of the guys'.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

The nine hour drive to the village is relatively uneventful. You spend the time chitchatting, stopping for fuel, getting a bite of local cuisine and enjoying the scenery of western Pakistan. Some of that scenery starts to change as you leave Quetta, the last major town before your stop in a village near the small town of Domandal.
As you get closer, you notice that the people are few and far between and those you do see are traveling in long lines by foot. Refugees. As you crest the hill that will take you into the village, you notice one of the clay buildings surrounded by a squad of troops. They are firing into it and someone is inside shooting back. At the moment, the troops take no notice of you. There are several other clay buildings on the way to the one in question, giving you cover from the troops, but the van is too big to make it through the tiny roads in between.
Next move...

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

How close is Smith trying to get?
Smith quickly glances at the map and calculates the coordinates. This is definitely the right place. It doesn't take him long to realize that even if it isn't Majors inside, those troops are not giving up any time soon.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Smith takes out his binoculars to get a closer look at the building. While he doesn't see the person inside, the Arabic lettering on the side lets him know that this is where Majors is supposed to be. Zooming back to look at the soldiers, he recognizes them immediately. If the AK-47s didn't give them away, the Afghan flag with the red star sure did. Those are DPRA soldiers!

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Hey Elise not sure how much good I'll be in the van. I'd probably be better on the trigger of my sniper rifle. I say we ditch the van on the side of the ride and try to take down as many of these soldiers as quickly as possible.
Macomb slowly pulls the van over to the side of the street and reaches below his seat pulls out his H&K.
He asks Smith who has his eyes on the goons.
He loads a magazine of armor piercing rounds into his H&K and a clip of hot loaded ammo into his PPK.
Ready to deploy. I say we take 10 seconds to position and then open fire. There may be wounded in the building. I think if Smith and I can divert attention maybe Elise you can get in there and assess.
Proposing 2 rounds to get into position behind cover and then open up.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

You are still in Pakistan, only a few miles from the border...You count eight (8) troops in all that can be seen. When you are ready, post initiative rolls and we'll get this party started!

Macomb gets into position, as Smith makes his way towards the nearest soldier. Elise moves as quickly as she can, throwing caution to the wind, letting the soldiers see her as she makes her way to Major's building.
@Macomb- You are at 120 ft. from the DPRA#3, you can also see #4, 5 and 7. You are Aimed and Braced.
@Elise- You are 120 ft. from DPRA#1 and can see #2, 3 and 6. They can also see you... You are also 150 ft. from the building where Majors is.
@Smith- You are 30 ft. from DPRA#8, who hears you kick a rock as you turn the corner. You can also see #5, 6 and 7.

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Seeing the eyes of the soldiers register on his teammates Razor takes breath and pulls the trigger on his H&K on the target in his sights. DRPA#3
Attack: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 1 + 8 = 24
will assume that hits so does Damage(3AP): 4d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 2) = 8
Razor will then make a second attack with his second half action.
If his first attack dropped DRPA#3 then this will be against DRPA#5. Dice roll below assumes new character so no Aim bonus but still braced.
2ndAttack: 1d20 + 1 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 8 = 10
So that is an error. Control going to activate with an AD? Stupid dice!

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

DPRA#3 Dmg Save v. 8: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Macomb's Second Shot Damage: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 3) = 13

DPRA#5 Attack v. Macomb Def 14+4 Cover: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Macomb's first shot surprises the soldier as it tears through his shoulder. As he turns to find his attacker, a second shot pierces his arm, but he does not drop. One of his teammates is on the ball and turns to fire to where the shots are coming from after diving for cover. His shot only manages to kick up some dirt however, but it is close enough that Macomb hears the snap of it.
Can't activate an Error if you don't miss the target.. I rolled damage for you and he is still up.. 7/7 GC Action Dice remain.
Carter is up!

Elise Carter |

Too many, and too far, can't sprint the distance without being shot at by at least three of them.
Elise tries to (single) move close if there's any cover available, then takes a shot at the closest (#1?)
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 dmg: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 3) = 13
Well that's a good start - as per CQ's that activates automatically I believe

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Dammit Macomb.. Where would I be without you? +100 Xp for catching that. I actually was looking for a rule that dealt with AP versus Damage Save and didn't find it in my hurry. (I was doing that before work..) and for the damage done, I knew that, but must have spaced it in my rush. So yes, edited version to follow..
Majors Shoot v. Def 11: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
DPRA#2 Shoot v. Def 12+4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Macomb's first shot surprises the first soldier as it tears through his arm and into his side. He drops, a look of surprise on his face. Macomb's second target takes a shot in the shoulder but is still able to fire off a shot as he dives for cover. The shot only kicks up the dirt near Macomb however.
Carter drops into a crouch as she takes cover behind one of the buildings and fires her shot. As hasty as it was, the round penetrates the man's skull and drops him instantly.
The soldier nearest Smith turns just as he ducks back behind cover and attempts to lay down suppression fire where Smith just was.If Smith moves through that area, he will be subject to an attack.
Taking advantage of the new chaos, Macomb spots through his scope Majors peek out of a side open window and take a shot at one of the soldiers. He misses, but the same soldier is unfazed and fires back, shattering some of the clay wall, but only making Majors duck back inside.
DPRA#3- Down, DPRA#5- 13 points taken, DPRA#1- Down

Smith pops out quickly from cover long enough to shoot and wing the soldier putting rounds in the dirt in front of Smith.
Another of the soldiers takes cover nearby and fires at Macomb's position, spitting dirt into his face and causing him to sputter a moment.
10-6=4 Damage to Macomb
One of the other soldiers near Smith also fires at him before taking cover himself, hitting Smith in the upper thigh, grazing him slightly.
8-5=3 Damage to Smith
Finally, one more fires at Carter, shattering some of the clay nearby but not harming her.

Macomb is up!

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

To review Macomb can see #4,#5, and #7? Post mentions #5 diving for cover how much cover is he currently under?
Macomb spits out some of the dirt that sprayed up into his mouth. That one was close. But you missed your shot. Macomb thinks to himself as he finds the source of the shot in his scope and pulls the trigger twice.

Macomb lets out a soft whistle as he sees his two shots hit home on the target.
Rereading post not entirely clear but Macomb's target was #4

Elise moves to the next point of cover, closer to the building, taking a chance that clay brick will stop a bullet or three. Her shot zings by another soldier, sending him reeling back. Majors also fires at him, but with little effect. Deciding Carter is more of a threat, he fires a volley at her, but only manages to prove her theory.
Meanwhile, the soldier targeting Smith continues to empty his magazine into the area in front of him.
Smith is up!

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Going to presume Smith did not mean right into the line of Suppressive Fire..
DPRA#8 Damage Save v. 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
DPRA#7 Morale v. 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
DPRA#6 Morale v. 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Smith rolls to the next point of cover and takes a pot shot at the soldier that's been trying to keep Smith's head down. While the .45 caliber round hits him, it doesn't put him down.
This does nothing for two of the soldiers as the situation causes them to back off and run for cover. DPRA#7 and #6 are visible to all, but in half cover.

DPRA#7 Damage Save v. 16: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 8 - 3 = 21
Macomb fires another round, dropping another soldier with a shot through his neck. Macomb's second round sends a spatter of blood up as it grazes another soldier's arm.
DPRA#5 is down, #7 has taken 12 damage
Carter is up!

Elise Carter |

If there's a clear path to get somewhere near the house without being shot at by more than 1-2 of them Elise will take it, then shout out "Major, your ride is here - are you coming?".
If that doesn't seem feasable she'll move to the next cover and take another shot
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 dmg: 4d4 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 1) = 8

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

DPRA#2 Damage Save v. 24: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

DPRA#6 Damage Save v. 12: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Elise decides that she is still too far from the house and sprints to the next point of cover before another shot can be lined up on her. You are still 75ft. from the house. Before the soldier could adjust his aim, Carter places a shot into his heart, dropping him instantly.
Majors takes a quick peak outside and can't find a target, so he ducks back inside.
The soldier that had been putting up a wall of lead in Smith's direction appears to have run out of ammo as he ducks behind a wall to reload. This doesn't deter Smith, as he takes aim at one of the soldiers running and with precise aim, kills him and just as quickly acquires the other runner and drops him with a single shot.
Round 4 Initiative
Macomb: 28+1 Braced, 4 VP down

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Macomb shouts out to Carter.
Secure Majors I'll cover you.
He keeps an eye on the section of wall that the soldiers ducked behind ready to fire a stream of lead into the man as soon as he appears.

ReadiedAttack: 1d20 + 1 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 8 = 14

Elise Carter |

I feel that my dice rolls are setting an inflated example of how my luck usually turns out - I'm often lucky to hit something once a combat
Carter closes the rest of the distance across to the house, if there is any cover she'll bang on the door and shout for Majors. If there's no cover near enough she'll put her back against the door and shout for him anyway - relying on Macomb and Smith to cover her.

Timothy K Smith |

Smith darts towards the closest dead enemy and relieves him of his Avtomat Kalashnikova.
Maneuver on foot 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Athletics 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 if necessary to not be a target.
Smith then barks in Farsi "Your entire unit has been wiped out, surrender and you won't be harmed?"

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Yep.. still here, remember I'm out of country and at Sea for a bit,so Internet access is limited. I'm not going to worry about rolling the rest of the combat in order to progress to the next section of this act..
Macomb sets his sights on the last location of the soldier hiding behind one of the clay buildings. Carter gets to the house and bangs on the door. "I'm armed! I'm not afraid of you!", comes the reply. A .45 caliber shell tearing a chunk of the doorframe near Carter tells her Majors is probably scared. The soldier takes that moment of distraction to move, but Macomb's trigger finger is faster and the soldier drops dead a few yards ahead of Smith, the AK skittering to a halt in front of Smith's feet, where he simply hoists it up.
Out of combat for the moment...

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

I had remembered you saying you were out of country. I'm still here. Update us when you get a chance and Macomb was absolutely deadly this combat. He never even needed to switch to semi-auto mode. He is going to have some major meditation to do after this mission.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

"Smith?! F*ck! Why didn't you say so?", the door opens in front of Carter and a disheveled looking man with a pistol in hand almost bumps into her. "Pardon miss, I thought I heard a female voice. Thought Macomb had gone soft. Jeff Majors at your service." He puts out his other hand. "Smith? Macomb still with you?"

Johnny "Razor" Macomb |

Macomb not being new to the game was on his way back to vehicle as soon as his shot brought down the last gunman. So it was a bit to Smith'said surprise that when he called out to Macomb the man was grinning at from the driver side window.
Well then get in already. Johnny said with a chuckle. only thing left to do is call shotgun.
