I'd like to see as well. Always willing to help out.

I think I'm set. Anyone is welcomed to look that wants to.

@UT Sent you a PM with a feedback

@Rosa I'll try to take a look tonight but I need to go back to my own drawing board.

That's cool....no hurry. Good luck to ya.

Seems the submissions are scattered through the thread. Does anyone have a count? I'm looking through to see what I can find as well.

I'm totally lost.....Lol

I think we're at 5 complete

Del Azast - Alton Goodbarrel (Halfling Bard)
Anerin Hahle (Human Adept)
Uncle Taco - Wait Still (Half-Elf Shaman)
Grand Moff Vixen - Amara Nacht (Rabutier Slayer)
Rosalina Luri (Dhamphir Gunslinger)

Basic outline. Still need background verbal, description and to buy gear.

Vi's gonna keep the group fom being total rubes and getting taken advantage of/robbed lol.

The Exchange

Wait Still: Half-Elf Shaman. The backstory is done (thanks for the comments, those who looked at it) I just need to go home and finish adding traits to the character sheet. So It'll be posted this evening. I'll go ahead and make an alias.

Whoops my bad I shall edit so the list is proper

Shadow Lodge

I think with the names people are using I may want to reuse This Alias I realize most people seem to be going with german names and Louise Van Andel is a dutch name (well Louise is french, english, and dutch, but Van Andel is dutch), but I think it will fit and the alias is just sitting there anyway, so off to blank it.

I don't think we're paying that close attention to the detail of the names. What kind of name is Rosalina Luri. The center doesn't name the children, the parents are still allowed to do at least that much. But ultimately it's up to you, if you feel the need to change it that's okay too. ;o)

I knew I wanted to use this name for a long time. I forgot I had made an alias for it. So here's the backstory. Again, adding crunch tonight.

Shadow Lodge

I'm fond of dutch names anyway, and some of these aliases need to be recycled.

Yeah, totally.

I'm not even sure what Alton is in origin its just what I like to use as my Halfling alias.

I hear you. I love to peruse baby name sites for names I can use, regardless of ethnic origin. That and I have aliases to use too.

I have a whole book of baby names, LOL

Gary Gygax's Extraordinary Book of Names is a great help too.

I'm thinking of closing recruitment early. It's pretty clear to me who's been working hard and who's been hardly working. I'm seeing people throw in stuff just for the sake of playing something. Thankfully, most of them haven't followed up. Not asking for crunch right now, just want you to have your backstory in place by the end of the day (meaning sometime before 12 am CST). I'll make my choices then and allow for a couple more days of spit and polish.

The Exchange

I was hoping for a class preview of the Shaman today to help me make more crunch/story related decisions. Oh well. I'll add a description but to be perfectly honest, Wait Still's appearance is damn near a rip-off of Calintz from Magna Carta (the one with the pony tail, not kid Calintz). He seems appropriately steampunk shaman-y.

Gah, you're asking me to work backwards now...luckly crunch for first level is fairly simple. I tend to go crunch first then fluff.

The Exchange

I actually tinkered around with crunch first. I was halfway done with a wizard when I realized I'd much rather play to the "punk" aspect of steampunk. After a few failed druid builds I settled on the Shaman as the perfect avatar for my kind of character in this universe. Hope he gets selected.

New Backstory is up for Alton, would like some reviews if possible.

Up where, It's not in the profile.

It's hiding at the very bottom.

Weird, try again I think I had a tab up with it in edit mode.

@Del: Bravo, I like a little ammunition in my storytelling stockpile.

@GM Dust and I hope to see you use it.

So. Decided to go ahead and make that Urban Druid. Fluff is done. All that's left is to buy mundane items but I'll wait until after selection before I dive into that minutia. Good luck everyone.

Added a short blurb about Schim to the racial spoiler, also have most of the cruchy bits (lacks equipment and traits) for the actual character, working on background now.

Fun fact, Schim have four genders.

EDIT: Backstory is up, and I decided the pronouns for the fourth gender are Shi and hir (the third gender pronouns would be Shim and hirm.)

4th gender? oO

That's a lot of bathrooms. I wonder what kind of stick figures they'll sue to represent each one. ;D

Liberty's Edge

I know it was meant as a joke but it raises an interesting question.

I imagine living in a society limited to only two genders one would have to associate themselves with one predominantly.

@Louise Van Andel

I'd like to know more about the Schim.

Did you create this race from scratch or did you base it off another pre-existing culture?

Have you thought about the race's origins? Do they have ruins buried in the wasteland or perhaps are they from another plane, similar to the gnomes in golarion?

Society and Values?

Mostly I'm bored and would like to know how much thought you've put into your race as a whole.

I've got too much on my plate at the moment so I'm going have to bail.

Recruitment is closed. I'll make a decision here shortly.

I created the race from scratch, the four gender thing came up as a gimmick to make the race seem more interesting and alien.

As far as the origins of the race, I have not thought of it much, but if I had to decide on something it might be similar to golarion gnomes, but rather then coming from the first world they would have came from the shadow plane.

As far as society, it would really be based on the gender roles, females are very powerful due to their ability to create offspring with any other Schim, where as shi would be the bottom of the barrel, having to compete against everyone else the attention of a single gender. However the ones that have the real power are the males and shimales as a male/shimale union has the possibility of having children of all four genders. It is very possible that there would be a time when the female population would wane because only the shi don't have an option of what gender to mate with. Its also possible that if there were some sort of genetic cleansingg of either the male or the shimale gender that the race would dwindle down to only two genders.

As far as values, I imagine that many of the schim are more of a free spirit type, especually with there being four genders it becomes easier to approach the type of attitude typically expressed by hippies, unless you are a shi of course. Theres a bit of a theme here, shis seem to have lost the genetic lottery, and basically no one wants them because there are more appealing genetic partners to mate with. As a result, shi are often looked down on in the Schim society, but the gender cannot be truely eliminated as long as there are male/shimale mated pairs.

And yes I basically just expanded upon the four gender gimmick to answer your questions.

I'd like to thank everyone who applied for this game and super-special thanks to people who took this seriously and did some hard work. I've decided to take on three players to round out the group, so...Aneirin Hahle, Amara Nacht and Alton Goodbarrel please make your way to the discussion thread which will be up in a few minutes.

I knew I should have gone with a name that started with an a.

Congratulations to those who made it in.

Fast Movement A barbarian's land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.
While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her strength and constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to armor Class. The increase to constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-,Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.
A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.
