Veltisiel Ekai |
My guess would be everyone on deck. Fireballs are really big.
Reflex DC 17: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
While Veltisiel isn't fast enough to dodge the explosion, his fiendish nature keeps him from death. In anger, he retaliates with another force missile, before retreating belowdecks.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Grak Firethrower |
OK, I guess this is a go! How much time has past since we boarded? I stated earlier I was going to drink my Dex mutagen right before.
** spoiler omitted **
Grak grins nervously in response to the noise below. He keeps an eye on Narwhal, ready to step forward and throw a bomb at him if he makes any aggressive moves.
[Dice=Readied Bomb (touch)]1d20+6+2-2 Bonus from Mutagen offset by range penalty
[Dice=Damage]1d6+3I'll take a 5' step towards stairs. Aggressive moves = shout warning, draw weapon, cast spell. Is that too general?
I know we had a long delay but I had readied an attack to try to interrupt his spell.
GM SuperTumbler |
Sorry, Grak, I obviously lost track of that. So that is a DC 18 Concentration check.
Concentration check DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Wow, that sucks. So the fireball forms and sails through the air, but the magical energy unravels and fails to detonate.
The fireball should have hit everyone except Wade, who we haven't heard from for a while.
Veltisiel Ekai |
Wade hasn't posted in a year, so I think it's safe to say we probably lost him....
And apologies if I don't sympathize with a pirate whose spell would have nearly killed us all if it had landed.
Grak Firethrower |
Glad I could ruin your fun ;)
Pleased with himself for interrupting Narwhal's spell, Grak prepares to do the same. He watches the caster closely for signs he is casting again, prepared to throw another bomb at him to stop him.
Readied Bomb (touch): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Mutagen bonus offsets range penalty
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Miss location: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Assuming landing short would be the square to SE of Narwhal, I will add 1 (splash weapon mastery) so that it lands to the S of him. He still receives splash damage of 4 hp. Reflex save (DC13) for half
Raush Galavari |
"Ratline, they whipped ye half to death! Fight with us!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
Raush picks up one of his tanglefoot bags and throws it at the spellcaster, hoping to neutralize him as quickly as possible.
Attack, touch, splash weapon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
If it hits, he's entangled. I guess I have a range penalty but the map is freaking out on my phone so I'm not sure how much it is.
Ordrax Silentback |
Ordrax sees that his time to do anything sneaky went over board as the others started their attack.
Stupid f!&@ers....could have taken out a few of the opposition beforehand...too late for that now. If I die because of your impatience I will haunt you...
Coming up the stairs, the little kobold move to engage the dwarf.
Who the f+~+ cast a fire spell on a ship. A ship that is made of....wood and tar...oh it was you Mr bearded orc spawn. Your daddy should have pulled out sooner and let the ants like it up. Really a fire spell on a ship...in the middle of the ocean. You are a whole lot of stupid!
GM SuperTumbler |
Reflex save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Narwhal grimaces at the burning from Grak's attack, his fingers tracing a hypnotic pattern through the air in front of Ordrax.
Ordrax Will: 1d20 + 0 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 0 + 5 = 8
A brief fog drifts through Ordrax's mind before he realizes that Narwhal actually isn't that bad of a guy. Sure, he has been harsh in the past, but that sort of discipline in necessary in the operation of a ship. Ordrax has this all wrong. Narwhal is a good pirate and a strong leader.
Ordrax failed a check against charm person, even with the +5 bonus from combat.
Crimson Cogward turns his attention to Ravenna, happy to cross blades.
Crimson attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Cutlass damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Cogward lashes out with his cutlass, cutting below Ravenna's parry and slashing her abdomen, drawing a line of blood.
Ratline hesitates for a moment, frozen by Raush's words.
Ordrax Silentback |
Since he is in combat with me would I get an AoO from his casting a spell with out casting defensively? Hoping to disrupt his spell.
just in case...
AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
AoO Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Raush Galavari |
Grunting as the expensive splash weapon falls overboard, Raush calls on for Besmara's favor before sprinting towards Narwhal. He falls into a defensive stance, quarterstaff out, just short of the pirate.
Casting bless on every PC.
Veltisiel Ekai |
Veltisiel curses as Ordrax falls prey to a charm spell, and, wishing he had more spell power available, does what he can, sending a weak jolt of lightning at Narwhal, trying to kill the mage with an incredibly precise shot, but pitiful amounts of damage.
Jolt, v. touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 241d3 ⇒ 1
Crit confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d3 ⇒ 1
GM SuperTumbler |
Concentration: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Wow, barely. Looks like Ordrax is charmed. Note that you think that Narwhal is your friend, but that doesn't mean that you don't think your friends are your friends. This is now a disagreement among friends. Not a situation where you would turn against your companions.
Ravenna slashes Cogward's bicep, tearing his sleeve and leaving a trail of blood.
Grak Firethrower |
With things getting a little crowded around Narwhal, Grak decides to take out and load his crossbow. He then takes a look at the doors of the captain's quarters to make sure Scourge isn't coming out.
GM SuperTumbler |
Ordrax turns against Crimson Cogward, surprising the pirate with an artful alsh of his sword.
Below the poop deck, the doors to the captain's quarters slam open, banging against the walls of the ship. Scourge appears in the doorway, backlit by lanterns, beard and cutlass shimmering in the darkness...
"Avast, ye hearties, cease this madness..."
Scourge holds a whip in his right hand and a punching dagger in his left. His stance hold an aura of menace, but for the moment he does not intervene.
Cogward retaliates against Ravenna.
Cutlass attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Cutlass damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Ravenna Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Ravenna Con damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The wound inflicted by Cogward burns more than expected, venom burning into Ravenna's veins.
Ratline attacks Veltisiel.
Ratline attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Ratline damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
[ooc]2 damage to Veltisiel[/dice]
Raush Galavari |
"Terrible choice in picking sides, Ratline. OWLBEAR! SANDARA! C'MERE!" cries out Raush to his allies.
Then he attacks Narwhal, whirling his staff against the wizard's collarbones. The second strike, unfortunately, gets caught in a scrap of clothing and only strikes the railing.
Attack, flurry of blows: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Attack, flurry of blows: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 That's a no.
Ravenna, I'll give you some healing as soon as we knock down Narwhal.
Grak Firethrower |
Wanting to put some space between himself and Scourge, Grak moves towards the bow, staying near the railing. With a clearer shot at Narwhal, he fires his crossbow at him.
Ranged: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Ordrax Silentback |
ROUND 4
Shifting his stance slightly to get a better angle on cogward, Ordrax swing his little mace at his knee cap.
You can still step away from this and live. Drop the weapon.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
GM SuperTumbler |
The door to the Captain's cabin swings violently inward as a voice rings out, "What skullduggery is this? Mutiny? On my vessel! We will see about that..."
Scourge appears in the doorway, whip in his left hand and hand axe in the right. Heartened by his appearance, the others brighten.
Cogsward Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Crimson thinks for a moment about continuing his battle, but decides that he is outmatched. Following the better part of valor, he distracts his assailants as he skitters away across the deck.
Acrobatics 27 and then moving across the deck.
Ratline Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Ratline turns toward his savior, Scourge, but is caught by Veltisiel's spell and knocked unconscious.
Narwhal opts to fight Raush mano a mano. Probably not the best choice.
Narwhal Cutlass attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Cutlass damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
6 damage to Raush
That's all I've got. Your turn.
Raush Galavari |
As Ravenna doesn't seem to be in immediate danger, Raush continues his attack on Narwhal. Through Besmara's blessing, his quarterstaff strikes true and heavy.
Attack, Bless, Divine Favor, Flurry: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16
Damage, Divine Favor: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Attack, Bless, Divine Favor, Flurry: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Damage, Divine Favor: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Grak Firethrower |
Seeing Narwhal fall, Grak turns his attention to Scourge. He drops his crossbow, mixes up a concoction, and throws it at the captain.
Bomb (touch): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 19 +Mutagen-range penalty
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 (+4 pts splash damage to surrounding enemies. Reflex save (DC13) for half)
GM SuperTumbler |
The keen eyed among you will notice that Master Scourge is fuzzy around the edges, as if you have been drinking too much. He seems to shimmer like a mirage.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Scourge slides across the deck, neatly side stepping Ordrax to close the gap with Veltisiel. He swings the hand axe down toward Veltisiel.
Hand ax: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The blade of the act slices through the air.
Crimson hangs back, waiting to see how the mutineers react.
Raush Galavari |
I have a blessing that creates a mirror image effect, do I recognize it?
Raush gives Ravenna a strong pat on the back. "Get it together, lass. We've one more unworthy cap'n to send to the darkest depths."
Fervor: 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage healed.
Then, he gleefully hurries over to the captain, using his quarterstaff to pole-vault over the stairs. "Hoy, Scourge! How d'you call your torso? The dead man's chest!"
Remember that you are blessed, folks.
Grak Firethrower |
Put red line where I dropped my crossbow.
Not recognizing why Scourge is blurry, Grak moves over to get a better shot at him and throws another bomb.
Bomb (touch): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 24 + mutagen - range + bless
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
4 pts splash damage to surrounding enemies. Reflex save (DC13) for half. Not sure if bless affects splash damage
Ordrax Silentback |
Seeing an opening and not able to understand the nature of Scourges condition, Ordrax moves in across from Raush to gain an advantage.
Attack with flank and bless: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Sneak Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Ravenna close in the circle and we got him surrounded.
Grak Firethrower |
I forgot to mention with Precise Bomb discovery, I can choose not to hit up to 4 people with splash damage on a hit. Unless otherwise noted, I will always miss allies.
GM SuperTumbler |
Crimson races to the defense of his Scourge, cutlass and dagger in hand. Surprisingly, he lashes out with the dagger.
Cogward dagger attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Concerned with taking out the spellcaster, Scourge maintains his focus on Veltisiel.
Scourge attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
handaxe damage to Veltisiel: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Whoops, forgot to roll grease saving throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Grak Firethrower |
Hoping they can finish him off by concentrating their attacks, Grak throws another bomb at Scourge.
Bomb (touch): 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
4 pts splash damage to surrounding enemies. Reflex save (DC13) for half.
If miss: 1d8 ⇒ 7 Adjust to 6 which would be S of Ordrax. Scourge, Ordax, and Crimson caught in splash.
