Aurora casts Haste for the entire group then backs up into a corner.
Lym Blackhand
"Damn it, I want enemies without bloody spell resistance," Lym grumbles as she backs away from the fight.
Praxim
Praxim relishes his invisible nature, his speed, and is feeling very lucky at the moment. He takes but one steadying breath before unleashing archery hell on the nearest golem. All five arrows are durable adamantine (which does exhaust his supply until he can pick them up again). The golem is denied its DEX bonus to AC for all attacks because of improved invisibility.

Veronica almost starts to dance, but then realises that while she's in the invisibility sphere, no one will be able to see her, so she switches to Perform (oratory) and starts inspire courage, eloquently praising the abilities of all the party members and encouraging greater feats of heroics. She then casts see invisibility on herself so she can can keep track of her own party members, and pulls her bladed scarf from her neck.

There we go!!!
Thordak strikes at the golem just a second before he is showered with pieces of rock splattering from Praxim's arrows.
He swears he shallow one of them.
What remains of the golem stands immobile, obviously destroyed.
Rexil attacks the other golem, catching it by surprise, but even so, he is unable to damage the hard stone...
... until Veronica's words of encouragement helps him try again, and he is able, then, to connect with the golem in a significative way.
Roll Damage
The golem, not showing any surprise or pain in its stone face, emits a garbled sound, magically causing your arms and feet to feel as heavy as if made of stone.
Only Rexil affected. Slow effect, DC 17 Will save to negate.
Then it attacks Rexil with mechanical precision.

Round 2, your turn!
Thordak Ironheart
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21 Ugh!
Noticing ABSOLUTELY nothing as he's so focused on the task at hand, Thordak fumes under his breath. "Blasted elf. Always takin' me wins." The dwarf moves with amazing speed toward the other one and brings his fury over losing another creature to the paladin down upon the golem.
Not sure how close I am so that's why I'm going with moving and attacking.
If I have to move more than 5', going with Evade reach(10') and hoping he doesn't have a 15' reach. :P Good thing is, I'm using a reach weapon myself so hopefully that'll help.
Also switching Ring of foe focus toward 'Rexil's golem'.

Missing fantastically horribly, Thordak finds himself thinking quickly in an attempt to cover such a pathetic attempt at an attack. "Um... YOU'RE QUICK, GOLEM, YOU'RE QUICK! THAT'S GOOD! I LIKE A CHALLENGE!" he yells, making sure everyone hears and feeling quite confident they've bought into his clever bluff.
Have I mentioned how much I TOTALLY love 1's? No? Well, you'll realize it soon enough. Me and 1's are like peas in a pod. It's truly sad. :)

Alas, none of those arrows were adamantine, so DR will apply, but he has Focused Shot, so only once for the four arrows.
”Sorry, Thordak. After all, I’d hate to rub basalt in your wounds.”
Rexil
Readied attack damage: 1d12 + 15 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 15 + 3 = 22
Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Rexil then swings again at his new friend, albeit very slowly.
Attack: 1d20 + 18 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 18 + 3 = 22
Veronica Deluza
Friendly reminder since it's been awhile and easy to forget: Aurora cast haste on the party at the start of the combat, so the slow effect on Rexil should just cancel the haste. :)
Veronica continues to provide words of encouragement to the group. As she does so, she mixes in the casting of a spell and steps up to touch Rexil, imbuing him with extra ability.
Free action to continue inspire courage.
Cast greater heroism on Rexil: +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks; immune to fear; 14 temporary hp.
I'm a bit unsure of everyone's relative positions, so I don't know if she'll still be inside the invisibility sphere after this. Given Rexil's size, I'm hoping it's possible for her to get close enough to touch him without also being in reach of the golems.

Thordak breaks a good chunk of the golem, just before Praxim's arrows start showering him with pebbles, which he now expects and avoids swallowing (or worst, entering his eyes).
Rexil, on his part, has the bad luck of having a pebble hit his eye making him miss his attacks.
Praxim: I don't see Focused Shot in your character sheet. Are you sure you have it?
The Golem attack Thordak now, with whatever strength it has left.

Sorry, it’s Clustered Shots, the one that groups all shots together before applying DR.

Rexil’s club connects with the golem’s “head” and pulverizes it.
Corsario

Let's save some arrows.
Before any arrows are fired the now headless golem's body drops to the ground, destroyed in one mighty hit.
Tomaru
Tomaru calls out to their unseen host. "You're going to have to do better than that. Come out so we can kill you good and proper."
Praxim
Praxim lowers his bow, both annoyed and proud that he didn’t have to contribute.
”So is this how Thordak feels when he finally gets to something to attack it, and everybody else has already killed it?”
Corsario
|
The place seems quiet. Almost to quiet now, until a piece of rock falls from a destroyed golem.
You look around, and everything seems clear now. Darkness surrounds you all, and you need to choose where to continue your exploration.
Lym Blackhand
Lym mutters a single Word, conjuring orbs of floating light, which she sends out to dispel the shadows.
"Let's see what's behind this door," she suggests.
Thordak Ironheart
Rolling his eyes as these golems just seem to drop faster than rain, his rage subsides and he turns a glare toward the paladin upon hearing his words. Pondering those words, his face then contorts into something angry and, well, weird. His eye begins to tic, some type of strange high-pitched noise escapes his mouth and it looks as if his face is about to explode... or melt... or possibly explode. After several moments he slowly begins to calm. His face returns to normal and he takes a deep breath before brushing himself off and walking over to Praxim. "One of these days, elf, one of these days...," he threatens with a shake of his fist. He then gives a harrumph before turning and walking away, heading for the door Lym mentioned. "Alright, lass, I'm ready ta move in when ya think it's safe. Just say the word."
Corsario

G5: Each of the four rooms in the south corridor is empty, save for a scattering of raw materials like sheets of cloth, stacks of lumber, blocks of stone, metal bars, and bones.
These rooms radiate strong transmutation magic.
Any of you is "greedy"?
Tomaru
I think we had a brief conversation about this previously. I think we decided that Tomaru could be lust, a case could be made for Lym and Praxim having wrath or even pride, and Thordak was just awesome even though, as a barbarian, you would think of him as wrathful, which he is not. You could make a case for vanity, though. Do you know how long he takes on 'beard care' every day? I mean, really?
Corsario
|
Well, you need to choose one. I will say that none are "Greedy". Then there is no more information about the rooms.
What to do something there?
Do you advance to the end of the south hallway?
Praxim
”More greed traps? I must say I was more impressed with the gem door. It’s not often I find myself lying awake in my bedroll wishing I had a big piece of lumber to make me happy or a giant bone to give my life meaning.”
Praxim scans the parts of the rooms he can see from the doorways for evil auras, but otherwise stays out.
Praxim is definitely prideful. Oh yes. Definitely pride.
Corsario
|
From the doorway, without entering the rooms, Praxim see no evil. And yes, for greed, this seems very underachieving.
Thordak Ironheart
Lol! I can see vanity. He does find himself quite impressive in pretty much all that he does from time to time. Bluffing, fighting, planning, shield sliding... he's pretty much good at everything. And he does have a great beard. ;)
The dwarf raises an eyebrow at the oddity of the elf's words. "What in the blazes are ya goin' on about, elf? Who in their blasted right mind wants a piece of wood or a bone for 'meanin'?" he asks rhetorically. "That doesn't even make any sense. Well, outside of your typical pet dog or whatever." Shaking his head, "Sometimes I wonder about you, lad." Turning his attention back to the room, "Well alright, since this room is borin', let's keep goin'," he says. It takes a moment or two but it finally hits him and a small grin forms. "Hey! Did you lot catch that? 'Since this room is borin', let's keep goin'. It rhymes! I'm a poet and didn't even know it." Another moment or two later, "Hey! Another one! I guess when ya got it ya got it," he winks. He then loses himself in thought to see if that one worked but then just shakes his head and moves on.
And now rhyming! Man is there anything this guy can't do? ;P
Lym Blackhand
"Moving along, yes," Lym says. "Before the mephits' "silver man" shows up, for preference. I do hope it's not a mithral golem. Not unless it's commanded by an amulet and we find that before it finds us."
Veronica Deluza
Veronica might be considered greedy for knowledge, but not really for material things.
"Well, whatever this Silver Man turns out to be, I suspect the real trouble we'll have is just Praxim and Thordak arguing over who gets to kill it first."
Thordak Ironheart
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"Oh there'll be no arguin', lass. I'll be droppin' Silver Man like a rock that just so happens ta have oil on it and you can't hold onto it so it falls from yer hand and...," he pauses, rubbing his chin in thought for several moments before, "He won't know what hit 'im is all I'm sayin'," he nods emphatically.
Praxim
”To be honest, I’m less concerned with the kill credit and more that we will be able to handle such a creature, given the worried look behind Lym’s veil.”
Praxim absent-mindledly brushes his hand across the forming bruise from the stone golem and soothes away the hurt.
LoH: 7d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 5, 1, 4, 6) = 26
He also takes a moment to activate his divine bond, making his bow now a +5 giant bane keen seeking bow that hates transmuters.
Markum
"We could make some nice chairs out of this stuff. Maybe after we see to this metal man."
Lym Blackhand
"A mithral golem is no laughing matter, friends. If we do see one, we might be better off fleeing from this wing."
Old Guy GM
There are four rooms in total with the raw materials in them. Workshops of some sorts, but their purpose is beyond you - especially in this place.
The hallway itself leads further east, and makes two quick turns - left, then right - before ending in a fountain room similar to the one you've been in before. Only this fountain does not have its statue, which you now know are golems in actuality.
There is one exit, a door leading north. To your left as you enter the fountain room.
I have no control as yet. But no reason to wait. Praxim, your smite GM does not work for some reason...maybe I'm not evil...
