Borden drops his spear, moving to cover the unconcious Basil while continuing his bardic saga and drawing sword and deploying his shield both.
Hopefully presenting another target.

At the noises seemingly from above, the guards renew their attack. They are filled with a steely determination now.
Gwen's strike at the guard hits home and he screams out in pain, almost dropping his sword, but he somehow stays standing. Fighting with gritted teeth.
The guard Gwen just hit, strikes back.

Roj slashes wildly at G2 and, as the guard dodges out of the way, slams his shield toward the man's face. Immediately afterward, he steps back into F14 through the door, moving toward the majority of the guards.

Eric and Gwen both strike out at the same guard (Although I'm wondering why Eric ignored the other guard right in front of him.) but they fail to get past the guard's armour.
Bordan likewise has his strike, glance off the scales of the guard's armour.
Roj strikes out with his sword, and shield, but only the shield makes any decent contact.
Basil tries, but fails to stay awake though a spell casting.
The guard fighting Roj and Bordan strikes at Roj in retaliation.

Erik drops to the floor as the guard's blade slides into his guts.
I attacked the other guard cause he was at 1 hp, and I was hoping to drop him with a dagger!

I had 5-foot-stepped to F14, so he shouldn't have been able to hit me. I'll take it, though, if it'd be aimed at Basil instead.

As Basil is down, but Bordan is not the hit would have taken Bordan if I'd remembered that 5ft step. Looks like that is the best option then. It halves Bordan's HP, but leaves Roj in a better position, and takes out a guard.

Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp |

Gwen is deeply shaken by the sight of both Erik and Basil down, unconscious and copiously bleeding. This is definitely not what she had in mind when she naively dreamt of adventures and being a heroic badax. Furthermore, her own injuries are taking their toll and she knows that another hit like the last one will take her down too.
She tries to take the sweat and blood off her eyes with a quick wipe on her shoulder, then growls like a wounded bear and attacks G8 with everything she's got:

Bordan slices his sword into the guard facing him, who goes down.
Gwen throws herself at the guard who just felled Erik, taking the guard compleatly by surprise with the ferocity of her attck, he goes down in a pool of blood.
Roj steps forward, again fainting with his scimitar and smashing his shield into the only guard who remains standing. He also goes down, with a thump.
You can hear some groans from guards who pursued Erik, and from the ones still on the floor. They are in varying stages of awakening, but are still too stunned to act from the spells.

On her turn Gwen loads Erik's unconscious body upon her shoulder and moves towards the exit.
"Quick guys, let's get the he!! out of here!"

Erik Copper |

Erik gulps and gasps as he revives, and then stands as Gwen lowers him to the ground, pupils dilated and hand moving to his bloody stomach. Within moments though he gathers his wits, looks about to assess the situation, then locks in on his friends, ready to follow them wherever they lead.

Ok, you stagger over the bodies,a nd up the stairs. The few patrons of the bar (yes, there are a few, even this early in the day) stop to watch as you pile through the door.
The barkeep stops cleaning the glass in his hand and gapes open mouthed, then as Bordan and Roj proceed to steal the pseudo-dragon in the cage he shouts "Oi! You can't do that!".
Outside, the docks are just as you'd expect. Much quieter at this time of day. There don't appear to be any guards about this time though, so that's a positive.
In his mind, Roj hears the words "Thank you.".
Have 1,300 XP. Each.

Roj stops for a moment, glaring at the bakeep. "I think you'll find we can. This creature was imprisoned against its will, and we'll be setting it free."
Outside on the docks, Roj holds his head for a moment. "Um, guys? Are you getting a voice inside your heads? I think I'm going insane. We need to get to the ghost's house before I lose it completely, and then we need to get this cage open. Look at the poor guy, he's so cramped in there." Roj begins walking out of Old Korvosa, looking behind him frequently to see if any of the guards have recovered enough to follow. "Hopefully, the guards won't think to get rid of the shiver lab. Erik, did you manage to get any of the evidence?"

Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp |

"Devargo's gone and without his liaisons I doubt anyone else will manage to keep the business up and running."
Gwen's voice is hoarse and strained and she keeps looking around to make sure nobody's following.

Erik Copper |

Eric stumbles alongside the group, hand pressed tight to the still bleeding wound in his stomach, face pale and brow sweating. He sways from not only blood loss and pain, but from the sheer amount of magic he has cast in the past hour - never has he channeled so much power, pushing himself even to unlock spells he had committed to scrolls and unleashing ever spell memorized that morning.
Thus he keeps quiet, not complaining, but clearly working with some kind of tunnel vision whose end is locked on their refuge, the ghost house.

Lets check back in with the boss... I dare say she'll have a thought or two about our actions this night.

Rojerick Alandsson |

"We can do that in the afternoon, I think. Many of us are in no shape for more today." Roj examines his beat-up friends, disappointed both in his inability to protect them and in his lack of injuries.

Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp |

Back to safe house to heal up, yes. Gwen has 3 potions of CLW, which she'll share with her wounded companions. That will not be enough though, I think we'll need the magical stick also. Then, what? To Kroft? I'm telling you, Gwen is pretty pizzed with her right now. She basically left us with our pants down and we almost died as a result.
We could also start to investigate this Glorio Arkona, the one who has "hands in almost all crime in Korvosa", according to the late Devargo.

Borden Read |

Basil be right. I'm for resting to get healing spells back... No need to use the stick or potions- lets rest back at base and not the barracks

Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp |

That depends on whether there is the equivalent of a "citizen's arrest" in the Korvosan law. Not that it matters much to Gwen!

Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp |

That would acquire you to arrest them - I doubt murder is covered by that ;-)
Well, we tried, but he resisted, so... "what were we supposed to do, Your Honour?"

Rojerick Alandsson |

To be quite honest, with the city in chaos and guards going rogue, I would guess Kroft has more important things to do than arrest and prosecute people who kill criminals. Just my guess. If there aren't any events to be concerned about on the way home, let's get to the ghost's house.

Erik Copper |

At one intersection, Erik takes a moment to lean his shoulder against the corner of a building and tug on his cap, causing his bloodied form to be replaced by that of an unharmed halfling man of middle age, a grocer's apron tied around his waist and a warm smile on his tanned face. Only his eyes betray the wounded Erik hidden within the illusion.
"Devargo was making someone a lot of money. Glorio most like. Devargo's death will upset him. Not just because he lost that income. But." Erik pauses, catching his breath. "In the underworld, how you're perceived like is a large part of your power. By killing Glorio's man, we've challenged Glorio's ability to protect his own. He'll be looking to kill us, and by doing so, send a message to everybody about what happens when you mess with his operations."
The rotund halfling's smile disappears for a moment as he winces in pain. "Best yet, Glorio's contacts in the Guard will tell him who killed Devargo. We're in it now. Way I see it, we either leave town, or we start hunting Glorio and hope we can get him afore he gets us."
The halfling's slightly panicked smile shows how likely Erik thinks that is.

The trip back to Zellera's place is fairly uneventful. Well, if you ignore the looks from random strangers at a group of obviously beaten up peasants carrying a cage with a Pseudo-dragon!
Once back, Roj releases the Pseudo-dragon from it's cage. It flutters up to the ceiling and flies around the room a few times, it's plumage visibly brightening as it regains the strength of it's wings after long disuse.
After a few minutes it settles onto a high up cupboard. "My name is Majenko. it suddenly speaks. "I have been locked in that cruel cage for many, many days. I must thank you for releasing you." It looks at Roj in particular "My savior, I shall serve you for a full year in repayment, as best I can."
