Sorry Eldon, still annoyed that I couldn't find the quote by Thomas Fairfax about the battle of Marston Moor, to be my last words. It was quite fitting 'that dying for a cause is better than living without one'. Since Dan had a good one in the last game.
I'll just have to had gone out with:
Sutra looks to the others; dark streaks of tears marr her face. "I don't know, sorry Eldon. I just don't want to die." she says in a small voice.

Sorry guys for missing the end of this cycle. I'm a teacher and I've spent the day fighting with my administration -- it's been ugly between the teaching staff and the admin this entire year for various reasons, but today got really ugly... I hope to be back to posting tomorrow or this weekend -- gaming is a great stress-reliever and I could use some now, lol
I don't know what time zone Ryuko's in... but it's currently 9pm my time, so I figure I missed the vote.

Still lurking, very amusing.
And... I still don't understand the math that says killing citizens without any information is better than waiting and letting scanners and whatnot have extra turns.
It seems so far this "math" is resulting in the mutants winning twice as fast.
And did the most honored and respected DM Ryuko lose a bet or something? Clearly there was something I missed.
Play on. It is great fun to watch.
I have my suspicions...

Taraz the Wastrel |

It might be worth noting that when I made the math post in the last game, I was one of the werewolves...
LOL!! Since that was my first werewolf style game, I really thought it was good advice. It was bandied around several times since then, so I assumed it was a valid point. Gah!
<- Suckered

My psychotic ex-girlfriend...
My apologies you even have one, but the thing that I find curious is what effect she even hoped to have by posting this in a game forum...
Totally rhetorical of course; just my own idle speculation.
In all honesty, I just assumed you were poking fun at Taraz, lol. You could have just played it off as that, and I would have shrugged and moved on. X-D

Professor Alessandra Devries |

I did a non-rigorous back-of-the-envelope check, and it seemed that it was usually better to not execute anyone, although only slightly.
It depended on the accuracy and number of 'scanners', the number of 'wolves', and whether or not the 'masons' had gone public from the get-go. I'd be very interested in seeing a formal statistical analysis, if you have the time to write one up.

Taraz the Wastrel |

I think I am seeing the logic of not lynching. This would cause only one citizen to get killed, and to give the scanners time to scan. Also, it allows citizens to avoid being manipulated by the mutants into killing another non-mutant.
But as far as being lucky and actually getting mutants by guessing someone every time to have the possibility... Well, so far I haven't seen proof that pans out very well. :/

Professor Alessandra Devries |

Mathematically, I remember it being a very close thing. The death of one of the scanners can be enough to tip the scales- and it varied from turn to turn based on the current number of players.
...and, depending on the scenario, sometimes lynching someone can just FEEL right and fit the RP :)

One thing I'm dying to know: Where did the idea of your character come from -- it's genius. Loved the whole concept and your characterization of him and his actions. It was fun playing with you!
I'm not sure if you are referring to Hamish himself or the Hamish Goat. If it's Hamish, I actually had a much different idea of what the game would be like when I first signed on to play Ryuko's Murder Mystery Tour. I thought the game was going to be a lot more cut throat and less tactical. I'm glad it worked out to be the other way. I also made him 19 because it seemed like all the other Aristocrats in the game were old(er) and I though I might have an RP advantage by being young. I slapped an English accent on him and said he was Scottish and just kind of went with the flow because I didn't really know how to play. Best decision ever BTW.
If its the Goat its because I decided to follow the lead of Wowbagger, Duke Leto, Professor Devries and many others by recycling Aliases. These games don't last that long and since you can't delete an Alias after 10 posts I'd rather not have them stack up. I also had a bit of a hard time coming up with an idea for The Cold Star. I love Fantasy but I'm not big on SciFi. Coming up with a concept for a SciFi theme was a struggle so I just cycled through Avatars until I came across the Goat. Goats are interesting animals. Read their Wikipedia entry, I bet you'd agree with me. It also kind of fit in well with the SciFi theme so I went with it. In the beginning I was just going to walk around and yell out Dr. Zoidberg quotes for the whole game and see how far I could make it. I also thought it might be neat to tie a character directly in from another game. Many of us have carried over Aliases but I don't think anybody has established a direct link to another game yet. Hamish the Goat is just a mishmash of ideas. Thats why my post count was so much lower this game than others.
I'm surprised you think so highly of Hamish. Of all my Aliases hes probably my least favorite. Especially when standing in the shadow of such memorable characters as Sir James Durham Fairfax, Professor Alessandra Devries (from Werewolves), The Red Robert, Taraz (from Werewolves) and The Hollow. There are others that also stand out but these are the characters I wish I had though of.

Thank you, for the mention Doug. You were an absolute star in the wolf game (both IC & OoC), I am recycling Sir James for a new pbp. The way the game develops is really interesting; at first I tried to make the characters really unlikeable. However the longer I was in the game the nicer they end up, elsewise they will inevitably perish. Of course, I quite liked Sutra, so she died relatively quickly.
This game is reaching a really interesting point, the mutant is still out there and no scanners left.

The most astonishing thing about this statement is how you are completely disregarding how creative your turn as Hamish the Goat has been. I take liberty speaking for the others, but it's all safe to say we admired how you tied in the previous games to Hamish's backstory rather cleverly.
Many of us have carried over Aliases but I don't think anybody has established a direct link to another game yet.
This one fact was certainly a winner, and I would say you did a great job of making him likable as well. That's no mean feat when you stood beside the infinitely lovable Meowselworth, Sir Jiminy & Sutra. Lol.
