When are round cut-off's for this game? If it's the same as last game could we possibly move Friday to Thursday? I always had a problem making the Firday cut-off because of the weekend.

Umm... I hadn't thought about it, but let's take it to a vote. We'll leave it at Friday for the first round cut-off, but also ask everyone to vote here to tell me if you're better with Friday or Thursday. We'll cut that vote off on Friday and change the schedule if we need to.

Read this string of posts starting around here. Its from our most recent game. Essentially, if you say something you can consider it to be fact. We will build the world as we move along. This is good to know as there were mistakes in the past with being unclear to this.

We will vote twice a week to lynch somebody who the majority thinks is a mutant. Don't forget to vote each period or you decision is null. Those with special roles will need to PM Ryuko once a round with their decisions or they also forgo their vote that round. There are no dice rolls in this game. It is purely role playing and suspicion.

The easiest way to figure things out is to just play and see what everybody else is doing. Here are some links to our previous games. If you read through these you will get a pretty good idea of what you can come to expect.

Things will start to get very intense once a few people are lynched. I had a whole behind the scenes PM game working last game where a few of us were collaborating right from the get-go. That made things even more intense. I have no doubts that there were others doing the same, though I never figured it out for sure.

Play the game, try to survive. Thats all I can say.

That's funny right there! I'm looking forward to seeing The Hollow as a character in this game.

I also have no vote for either Thursday or Friday, west coast time means I usually get a chance to respond before the witching hour.

I think I'll try and have a little look at posting frequency tomorrow, comparing the posting over the week-end to during the week. Personally, I have no problems either way. On both days I can be out until 1am (GMT closing time), so I don't always post often then.

Basically, everyone votes openly for 1 person to be lynched at the end of a cycle. We hopefully lynch a mutant. At the same time those with special roles have to nominate an individual to scan/kill/protect. Ryuko pm's people with roles, thus if you have a pm it should tell you your role. If you don't have a pm, you are a 'normal' person on the station, but this is no less fun as you can pm people, lie or generally try and figure out the mutants.

The mutants win if they are the only ones left, the normals win if they lynch the mutants.

There is no way to prove anyone's role (except that the agents know each other for certain), even your own to the group unto death. Even the Scanners cannot be 100% sure.

Do people pm each other in character or ooc?

Generally I try to IC, but after 2-3 especially if it's to the same person in under an hour it drifts OoC.

You don't have to give any indication on the gameplay thread of what you are doing too.

EDIT: And it's probably a good idea that the agents pm each other too, as they can act in concert quite well. The maths imply it is better for Normals to lynch someone each round - although this limits the Scryers number of attempts.

I felt the same way about reading through the previous games. It's what made me want to try this one... It also made me REALLY curious about what the "pm-game" was looking like. Some players indicated they sent SEVERAL pm's out a day. I would've loved to be able to read those too, lol :)

I'm ok with it. I sent between 150-200 PMs last game. I had to dump my inbox to make room for a pbp I'm running so I don't have any left.

I didn't send any PM's last game but then again as the Stalker, it was to my benefit to remain hidden as long as possible. :-D

I'm already liking this game's feel and it's especially fun to see all of the interesting avatars in action.

Yeah, it's nearly as fun to look at the werewolf thread with the altered avatars. :O

Getting wasted in the first cycle probably kept me from ever getting a PM. And all I can say is no one else got a kiss from a werewolf before their death! Ha!

Alright, Cycle 1 Begins now and ends Thursday I suppose, since everyone seems not to mind that.

Lynching only requires the most votes.

Yep, most votes. In the case of a draw, no-one gets lynched. Always a good option in the first round.

To somewhat gain some nonmutant credibility, not lynching is proven to aid the mutants. Although the odds are against getting a mutant without prior information, mutants have a better chance of getting a nonmutant in the 'infection' phase. So I will be voting to reduce mutant chances of victory.

Does anyone have a tally for the votes? I am skimming right through everything because I'm at work and don't have time to check until after the round is already over.

Hm... that actually looks correct. Well I've already assigned roles assuming 14. I apologize to the mutants who I have left with a bit harder time this game.

Tia, I figured Spider was "Spider" from the Avernum games by spidersoft (Old-old game that I remember playing back in the mid 90s when it was called "Escape from the Pit). That's the personality I applied to her, anyways. It seemed that no matter which one you clicked on they always answered "HI! I'm spider!"

@Jin: Yep, that's the one. I had a lot of fun with the Exile/Avernum series and when I remembered that I had a spider avatar that wasn't being used for anything I couldn't resist.

They've recently remade it with a modernized engine and added a bunch of content, if you feel like playing it again some time: Avernum: Escape from the Pit.

Exiles! That was its original title. I had it for my Mac (back when I had a Mac). It was a shareware game that I ended up buying and it was an incredible game for the price. Great story, lots of hidden stuff, a fun little rpg. It's good to see that the company is still doing well enough that they could update it. I'm going to have to check it out!

Now I'm extra sad the muties got Spider :(
