Game Master Ryuko

Mutants are infecting Safe Zone Theta, can the Citizens survive until evacuation?

I really like the Militants option of scanning for 2 turns. It gives them something pro-active to do.

And there seems to have been alot of pm's this time around!

Ok, I'm in the process of typing up the next game. If you have any suggestions for additional or different roles you'd like to see in he next game speak now.

Currently I'm leaning toward keeping all the same roles we've been using to date and adding "The Devil" and "The Lovers" as roles. I don't think this will make things balanced though, and balance is key. I need suggestions. Everything mentioned to date has already been taken into account.

Thanks.

Ice Cream Man

Any hints at the theme?

Anthropomorphic Cricket

What are the roles of 'The Devil' and 'The Lovers', I couldn't seem to find them in the threads? Looked online and it seemed that:

Devil: the bad guys version of a scryer/scanner, was that the Pharaun mutant in this last game?

Lovers: aka, the twins, if one is killed the remaining one joins the other side? or, if one is killed the other dies as well?

Maybe add The Witch to balance the extra loss from the Lovers and only add the Devil if more than 15 players like Ryuko had set up? Not sure if that would work though?

Salem Witch Trials would be a good theme for one of these games.

The theme is essentially a continuation of Ryukos first murder mystery tour. The game is assassins. This will give people the option to recycle characters if they choose.

I hope Ryuko doesn't mind me recycling his ideas. They're so good though. I also copy/pasted alot of material he has already written. Is this ok Ryuko?

The devil is a scanner that works on the assassins team. I thought this might be good since people were requesting a role like this already.

The lovers are a good guy bad guy combo. If 1 dies, the other suicides by default. They have added win conditions too. If 1 is the only survivor left on their team they win with the other team. Also, if only the Lovers are left at the end of the game they win instead.

Thinking about it more, I think these 2 roles are enough to balance the game. This will give the bad guys a slight boost without being overpowered.

I need to work on this a bit more before starting. I'm hoping to have recruitment up tonight before this game ends.

Maybe so the Devil isn't too powerful maybe he either takes 2 turns to scan or cannot detect agents or has 100% accuracy for the other killers.

Of course, Hamish/Doug you could play a more active role as host if you want? This would allow you to RP more & be a bigger part of the game. Of course you would be immune to everything and have no role.

Ice Cream Man

I am curious if the mutants start off knowing each other, considering I haven't been one yet.

No, in fact the only way to know each other is for them all to try and kill each other; which means a quiet night - when nobody dies from them. Therefore it is highly unlikely, that they get to find each other until near the end.

James & Dr Ludwig, met each other in the first game - which gave a huge advantage.

Question about the Lovers...can one be tainted, but not the other? Or is it an Agent/Mason scenario, but with the hindrance of one die, both die?

One of the lovers is a good guy (citizen/scryer/militant/whatever), the other one is a bad guy (assassin/werewolf/mutant/whatever).

I plan to. I have an active NPC role I have setup for myself. I'll reveal more details when the game starts.

Not that I want to flood the game with roles but I'm also thinking of adding The Thief. Once during the game The Thief may choose another player. Upon choosing, the selected players role it transferred to the thief and they are converted to a regular aristocrat role.

Much like the lovers, This will not shift the balance of power, but merely be an added an extra twist to the game.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

I'll be throwing up the last post a bit early tonight as I have somewhere to be at 7 and it seems everyone's quite set in their opinions. Just letting everyone know.

Insufferable Lout

Okay...so mechanically, WE know but in character do the Lovers know the other is always their opposite?

Insufferable Lout

When I look at how they are supposed to function and obviously they will always try to maneuver people away from each other...the Lovers almost feel like a third group. Which isn't bad by any means, heh heh.

Another clarification, will a Lover scan as a Lover or only as an Aristocrat/Assassin?

I ask because if a scanner discovers a Lover regardless of whether they are Aristocrat or Assassin, the scanner will know all s/he needs to do is get the Lover killed to knock the other Lover out without even having to guess his/her identity. That seems like a bit of a handicap.

Insufferable Lout

My apologies for being so inquisitive.

I think I am a little confused as to how the Thief would work. Since he steals roles, does he have a scan or is he just taking his best guess?

What happens if he steals the Agent/Mason role? Will the other Agent/Mason be advised and the new Agent/Mason in turn learn the other's identity?

Same question, but Lovers? Now that the former Lover is free, they will immediately know that the other is the opposite, so would that be broken at all?

I am kind of thinking that the Thief and Masons/Lovers are mutually exclusive and shouldn't be in the same game together. Otherwise some serious advantages would occur for the people who were "thieved".

Don't know about the thief, but the lovers know exactly what role the other has.
Personally, I don't much like the idea of the thief, the the role of lovers is intriguing and I think we should use it.

The livers begin play knowing each others identities. They are considered a third group.lovers will not register in a scan because it is a secret role. Their primary role will be revealed during a scan though.

The thief has no ability to scan. They base everything off speculation. I haven't worked out all the kinks with this role yet because the description was for real life play. I might just leave the thief out if everybody isn't big on it.

M somewhat akin to a kender Y / MA

my favorite one is the "slut" or carrier and the invalid each cycle the slut selects a person to seduce, nothing happens unless he/she selects the invalid, thus spawning a new mutant!

Female Helmet Cat

I have no more time to defend myself, so may as well go with a rant. >_> Lovers seems fun. I think in this one, mutants were at a disadvantage, given all the defensive roles for the civilian side (the mutants have to kill 2 scanners, a militant and at least one agent to have a chance in the end game), so seeing mutants with superpowers seems like it would be good as well. Thief seems interesting, for certain!

I think it was the numbers 14 meant 2 mutants, 15 meant 3 with the Pharaun mutant. And only 5 civilians.

But you did a brilliant job, nearly getting to the end, the Agents surviving just did it for you. If one had gone early like in other games then it could have been different.

Ice Cream Man

The lovers roll seems kinda fun. I'm not sure I like the thief though. Seems it would get confusing.

Seriously LOVE the RP speach Meowselsworth! A very memorable way to exit! I like the idea of the mutant backstory -- kind of Invasion of the Body Snatchers feel... and actually gives me an idea for an alternate version of this game where you don't know whether you're a werewolf/mutant or not and have to play based off of probable roles rather than being certain of your own role... will have to put some more thought into this and maybe I can present the idea after Hamish's next game.

Anyways, brilliant exit.

PS. Early on I thought you may have been the mutant after Sutra died, but during the previous cycle in our pm exchange, I was convinced you were innocent and that Taraz had to be bad... WELL DONE! I think it was the cute cat face that made me think you were innocent, but I should've known that cats are devious! lol

Great ending.

Anthropomorphic Cricket

Well played little Meowselsworth! And well played by Wowbagger and Jin as well!

Male

Alright ghosts, fess up:

Who'd you think was the final mutant?

:) lol

Anthropomorphic Cricket

I had my doubts about the Caveman Lawyer (R.I.P. Phil Hartman), but I had tickled a mutant under the chin and already accused her, it would have been a tough decision for me.

Female Helmet Cat

That was a lot of fun! :3 The civilians did really well. Never lynched anyone with a role, it made it hard to keep up! I really did vote for Wowbagger and then changed it to Ryxis, but then, I changed my votes a /lot/. And thank you for the compliment on the end speech! I knew I was doomed when I was left with the two agents so close to the end game. And I really did know that Taraz was innocent, my conviction was not for nothing, at least!

Female Helmet Cat

Also, I enjoyed writing those ridiculous private messages: the malfunctioning helmet mail system is a burden no cat should have to face.
