Here is what we have so far:

Eldren Corwin - Male Human - Cavalier
Kir - Female Human (Ulfen) - Bard
Johnson the Magus - Male Half-Elf - Magus
Nik the Indomitable - Male Human - Fighter (Brawler)
Kristen Smith - Female Human - Evoker
TOS - Human Male - Monk (Tetori)
Kayla Adrianas - Female Halfling - Oracle
Rathmar Oakenheart - Male Dwarf - Druid

TOS I still need a name for your monk

Interesting mix so far, not sure how many I will take. Would be nice for a small group of 4, but may take 6

This is long, and so I'll be putting it in a spoiler tag:

Stuff:

Character name: Edwinil "Edwin" Aleimej

I'm tall, slender, decently graceful, and rather intelligent. Various friends since high school have called me an elf before, so I think I'd have to be one. I did a poll of some friends just now and I've been voted as an elf wizard (that or alchemist, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable making bombs, as much as I like to tinker). This works, I think. I view situations as problems to be fixed and find logical solutions very quickly, although I hate getting my hands dirty. I'm unsure what profession computer engineering would translate to in PF besides Knowledge(engineering).

I think I'm looking at a 10 16 8 18 10 14 array after racial modifiers with a 20 point buy without overanalyzing. For a normal game I'd swap Con and Cha, but this better reflects how I interact well with people and succumb easily to whatever diseases are going around. I don't read people I don't know very well and I'm not especially perceptive, so Wis is 10 along with Str, which feels right.

My feat would be Improved Initiative to reflect that I usually come to an evaluated decision on what to do very quickly. I don't necessarily have fast physical reflexes to instinctively react to danger, but I feel that is tied to the Ref save.

I always carry a pocketknife (swiss army knife technically), so I'd use a dagger as my weapon. Andoran and a worshipper of Iomedae to reflect my country ('Murica) and the active nature of my religion.

I'd be a Diviner (divination specialty school) and drop necromancy and enchantment. The style of my engineering is all about sending, receiving, and manipulating information. Illusion could have worked too. Necromancy is dropped because I tend to avoid things that could be construed as "bad" even if they aren't actually. In an argument I will present my side and try to have evidence to back me up, but my goal is usually to inform rather than convince and coerce, and so I dropped Enchantment.

Skills 2+4+1: arcana (I imagine I'd learn a lot about magic if I was a wizard), engineering (since I'm an engineer IRL), history (I paid attention in school), local(unsure on this one), nature(from being in the BSA for a long time... although that might apply better to Survival), religion(from being a church-going guy), spellcraft(I'm a wizard, so I should know what's going on with magic)

Taking Arcane Focus racial trait (+2 concentration checks for defensive casting arcane spells in exchange for weapon familiarity) because I've always been more of a scholastic fellow than athletic.

Favored class bonus goes to HP because I don't want the character to die too fast. 8 Con, y'know?

For reasons mentioned earlier I'd probably be defined as generally lawful good. I believe that the institution of government is meant to (and usually does) help the people it rules over and that helping another person is worth going out of my way for, even if it doesn't further my own interests. (I'm not entirely altruistic. I'm more of "generous" at best. I'm not an EXTREME example of LG)

I can easily take this and turn it into an alias if the need arises. I can also come up with a backstory if given a bit more information on what sort of plot hooks I should put in it.

Edit: Fixed the spoiler tag.

Saren Tetori Monk! I'll get things all updated and flashy in a bit for my profile!

Lots of cool people on here that I would like to meet in person! :D
I really enjoyed this, made me actually think of what I would be as a hero in the PF universe.

The main environment for this campaign will be a tavern/club/temple of Calistria. Does anyone have an issue with adult themes such as those?

Sovereign Court

"Tavern of Calistria you say? Can I book a room?" Eldren grins cockily and winks.

Nope. Not even in the slightest!

I don't see that being an issue. If Edwin was a GOOD follower of Iomedae, then he'd be up at the Worldwound instead of hanging out in Absalom. Calistria's where the fun's at.

Just gives us all a chance to make things even more awkward if naked flirting comes up and we can think of funny things to do. :p

Sitting in the Tavern with a Cider (hah, Pathfinder should have this, none of that stinking Ale!), Nik looks around and thinks to himself.

Looks like there's a good selection of Adventurer's in here!

I'll get up an Alias in no time at all if picked, although people know my online name as CaptainCortez instead of Vironus, so that'll do for now!

I'm fine with the location of the game.

Fine by me.

Quick question tho - I'm married in real life, should I be single in the game if chosen, just so you won't have to RP a spouse?

I'm rp'ing single in the game even though I'm married in rl.

You're probably right - thanks :)

Fine by me. Besides games without a few adult themes are usually a bit boring (but not always).

Fallen_Mage's submition.

I'm thinking a two in one temple, Main floor is a tavern to Cayden Cailean, upstairs is a cat house to Calistria. Thoughts?

Thinking of calling it the Lusty Leopard (shout out to HIMYM fans)

I like the show, so I will approve the name.

Can we throw in a Dolly Parton clone? For some reason the idea made me think of the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas".

Barney: "I've done so much good today, I've got, like, a 'soul boner.'"

Lol, good show!

Tbh I'd be fine following Cayden Cailean. I like his ideals. :p

It'll be Legen......

1 person marked this as a favorite.

...dary!

Alright, this is what I've got so far....

Jasper Gwynblaidd:

Jasper Gwynblaidd Jasper is a name my mother wanted to use for me, but my family wouldn't let her--no joke. Gwynblaidd is the Welsh form of my middle and last names.

Male dhampir ninja 1 [ooc]I've explained these already, but I'm a night person, agile, not durable, and oddly charismatic even though I don't really try and don't fit in. Ninja fits a good number of my skills.
CG medium humanoid (dhampir) I'm a pretty nice guy, but I don't always feel like rules are conducive to being good.
Init +3; Senses Perception +8

DEFENSE

AC 15, touch 13, flat-footed 12(+3 Dex, +2 armor)
hp 8/8(1d8-1+1)
Fort -1, Ref +5, Will +2

OFFENSE

Speed 30 ft.

Melee Wakizashi +3 (1d6/18-20) OR
Melee Tanto (dagger) +3 (1d4/19-20) OR
Melee Cestus +3 (1d4/19-20)

These are all weapons I own or have practiced with, and fit the ninja well. Ideally I'd carry everything historic shinobi carried, but that's a lot of weaponry that the ninja class isn't automatically proficient with (and that I haven't used myself).

Ranged Not set on ranged yet, as I don't do that much. Maybe a crossbow since I shoot occasionally.

Combat Options Poison Use, Sneak Attack +1d6

STATISTICS

Str 10, Dex 16, Con 8, Int 14, Wis 14, Cha 16

I'm not very strong, but I'm not weak either. I'm quick on my feet and with my hands. I don't have a strong immune system and can't run for very long (curse you, asthma!). I'm pretty smart, have a fair amount of common sense and am quite perceptive, and as I said, even though I don't try, I guess I'm charismatic.

Base Attack +0; CMB +0; CMD 13

Feats Weapon Finesse Because I prefer speed over strength.

Traits Unsure, both for myself and as to whether these are being used.

Trained Skills
Acrobatics +7, 1 rank Quick on my feet, good balance, reasonable jumper.
Bluff +9, 1 rank I'm very good at bluffing and lying to people.
Climb +4, 1 rank I've been known to do some climbing.
Diplomacy +7, 1 rank I tend to be good at soothing things over when they go bad, and people seem to like me well enough.
Perception +8, 1 rank As I said, I'm pretty perceptive.
Profession (scribe) +6, 1 rank Maybe I just want to find something that those typing classes were good for...
Sense Motive +6, 1 rank I'm good at sensing what's up with people, when they're upset or lying about something, that sort of thing.
Sleight of Hand +7, 1 rank I do some amateur magic stuff, and I'll admit I practice picking pockets and that sort of thing.
Stealth +7, 1 rank I can blend in well when people aren't looking for me, and I'm pretty sneaky.
Use Magic Device +7, 1 rank I'm reasonable when it comes to picking stuff up and figuring out how to use it.

I'm not set on the class--still considering an urban ranger--but I think this is a good base to start capturing m'self.

I'm ok with mature theme.

So, I will be reworking Jasper as an urban ranger, I've decided, but that stat block should give a taste of him. As for the themes, I'm good with whatever.

crunch of me

Spoiler:
I'm an archaeologist in RL,really enjoy spending time in the "wilderness" (spend a lot of time in the summer in Yellowstone), and tend to intimidate folks who don't know me. So, a half-orc bard with the archAeology archetype(which works for me also cause I have no performance abilities whatsoever). Would change to Ranger (warden)at some point to reflect the wildlife lover in me. Maybe at some time take a level in barbarian- as a kid used to fight a lot and pretty much “rage” when fighting (lose control and just wanted to kill who I was fighting then deflate after the fight was over). If I was starting at Level 2 it would be one level as barbarian to reflect youth and then one level as shown below to reflect adult.

Dav Wolfacus – Half Orc Bard archAeology archetype (archaeology because its my RL job, half orc because I look a little bestial, tend to intimidate folks who don't know me and my father was very brutish. Darkvision work cause I actually see really well in the dark- I had an eye doctor tell me once that he had never seen someone who’s eye dilate some much in the dark)

Andoran (am American) 6’ 1” 250 lbs

CN Medium Humanoid (CN because I really don’t believe in good and evil- chaotic because I tend to look out for myself regardless of the laws of the land)

Traits: fast-talker +1 bluff (am good at B.S.) Devotee of the Green: love going to Yellowstone-gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (geography) and Knowledge (nature) checks, and one of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.

Skills (9 ranks per level)

--------------------
SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------
Race: Orc Ferocity: Once per day, when a half-orc is brought below 0 hit points but not killed, he can fight on for one more round as if disabled. At the end of his next turn, unless brought to above 0 hit points, he immediately falls unconscious and begins dying. (Used to fight a lot in my youth- and was pretty good)

Class: Bardic knowledge: +1 CL all kno checks (I read a lot so makes sense)

FEATS:
Alterness: get “first spot” a lot in Yellowstone (first spot means you are the first to spot wildlife)

SPELLS KNOWN:
4- know direction (good map reader), mending (good at jerry rigging stuff), read magic (fairly literate), detect magic (kinda have a 6th sense on things)
2- charm person (can turn on the charm), cure light wounds (limited first aid training)

CAST:
(at will - DC11)
(2 - DC12)

Archaeology archetype: no bardic performance- have no preform skills in RL
Archaeologist's Luck (Ex): Fortune favors the archaeologist. As a swift action, an archaeologist can call on fortune's favor, giving him a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls. He can use this ability for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + his Charisma modifier. Maintaining this bonus is a free action, but it ends immediately if the archaeologist is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. Archaeologist's luck is treated as bardic performance for the purposes of feats, abilities, effects, and the like that affect bardic performance. Like bardic performance, it cannot be maintained at the same time as other performance abilities. (occasionally lucky)

This is my first attempt to do a play by post- would be able to post after work and sometimes at work but there will be weekends that I'll be camping. Used to play in my youth so not that experienced. Either way- this was a fun exercise- thanks.

Belatedly, HIMYM ++ - and mature themes okay, kept tasteful!

Honestly, after propping Barney references that comes across as a bit insincere. But ah well. :D

Finalized list:

Eldren Corwin - Male Human - Cavalier
Kir - Female Human (Ulfen) - Bard
Johnson the Magus - Male Half-Elf - Magus
Nik the Indomitable - Male Human - Fighter (Brawler)
Kristen Smith - Female Human - Evoker
Saren Artimus - Human Male - Monk (Tetori)
Kayla Adrianas - Female Halfling - Oracle
Rathmar Oakenheart - Male Dwarf - Druid
Edwinil "Edwin" Aleimej - Male Human Diviner
Davick Drake - Male Human (Kellid) Magus (Hexcrafter)
Jasper Gwynblaidd - Male Dhampir Ninja
Dav Wolfacus - Male Half Orc Bard (Archaeology)

Will be posting choices tomorrow. Aiming for four as I want a close tight knit group, but may expand that to 6 based on neat funky ideas

Well after much debate, I have chosen my players

Everyone's submissions were excellent, I loved everyone's justifications for their own abilities in a fantasy world

So here are the choices:

Kir - Female Human (Ulfen) - Bard
Kayla Adrianas - Female Halfling - Oracle
Davick Drake - Male Human (Kellid) Magus (Hexcrafter)
Eldren Corwin - Male Human - Cavalier
Kristen Smith - Female Human - Evoker

Please post in the discussion thread when ready

Haha, my ESP abilities forewarned me I wouldn't get into this one. :p

Have fun guys! :)
