I have an idea for a homebrew campaign but want to first see if there is any interest in the idea.
Essentially it would be a group of unlikely heroes who are thrust into an adventure in Absalom. The core story line would be mystery and suspense, but would also include a bit of comedy. There would also be a bit of intimacy and adult themes (nothing too graphic)
But here's the catch, your character would be the fantasy version of you. You would make who you think you would be in Golarion, and points would go to creative ways to how you define yourself.
As this would need some details about your own life, we could submit characters through pm's if people are comfortable with that
Let me know what you think and if there is enough interest, I can start up a recruitment thread
GM Tierce
Not too deep, the point is to take inspiration from your own life to make your character. The ones with the most unique take on your character will be the ones that I will want in the game.
I will give you an example, I am Canadian, so I would have my character from Irrisen or Realm of the Mammoth Lords. I have my PAL and a small collection of Firearms. I'm a decent shot so I would go with a gunslinger. This is a rather weak example, but you can see where I'm going with it.
If your American, Andoran would be a good country to be from, or even Absalom.

I need to sort out if there's any way to put my degree in education to use in Golarion... I'm sure as heck not using it out here...
I know the feeling, Twilsemail.
As a teacher myself, one who's asked the question of "What would I be in Pathfinder?" of my group, the consensus comes up as one of two things:
Transmutor (from the group that knows my more professional side)
Or
Spymaster (from the group that knows my more recreational side)
In life, I chose the former over the latter, so that would be what I'd like to do if your interest check gets off the ground.

GM Tierce
Well there does seem to be some interest, so lets start up a recruitment thread.
Characters
20 Point buy - try to highlight your own strengths and weaknesses
Class - try to draw inspiration from your life
Race - not everyone needs to be human, I have met some people who really seem like halflings and elves
Equipment - use 150 gold as standard
Alignment - try to keep it to your own alignment if you can. Most people are Neutral or Neutral good
No back stories are needed, just need to see the parallels between your character and yourself. We will write back stories once the campaign starts.
Deadline will be after the weekend Monday, April 1st

So, IRL, I'm a Sign Language Interpreter with low-level Bardic Knowledge. Unfortunately, I'd only have 8-9 Charisma, so I need to figure out something else. Always been a bit of an outcast, so Half-Elf for a race. Maybe a DEX-based Magus with lots of Knowledge skills? Would that work?
My real-life stat array would be something like 10, 14, 11, 16, 14, 9
twilsemail
|
I'm assuming you won't let me come in as a Half-Feind (if that template even exists in PF). Mind if I go with Tiefling? I had a rather rocky relationshpi with my father.
I'll look at a few points in my life and sort out where I'd like to start from. Urban Ranger and Paladin are both in the lead at the moment, though from different points in my life.
dreamingdragon
Here's how you make me as a character:
Build a kickass wizard, with points in all sorts of knowledge skills and just maybe a little survival and/or social skill.
Then erase "wizard" from the class section and add "barbarian." Possibly with the wild rager and drunken brute archetypes, depending on how current we're keeping.
YoricksRequiem
This doesn't apply to me, but since you're taking a degree of the characters from real life professions, it would be interesting to see what kinds of in-game applications there would be for an artist. I can't think of an RPG system that has really used it before?
What's the technology level in this campaign? Failing some kind of scholarly role, my next approach would be something like, I don't know, Technomage is the closest RPG class I can think of for it.
Loup Blanc
If I were to go with a class? Probably someone with little training, unless I went with a magic class. Quite possibly just an unarmored fighter, since I like HEMA, although I'm not very strong, so that may not work. Probably a rogue or urban ranger, maybe ninja...
As for race, I'd have to go with something not-quite-human. Dhampir would work--quick, somewhat charismatic, not very durable. Also, I'm a bit of a night person, and a lot of medicines don't seem to help me a ton, so that's a bonus.
Tentative 20 point stats at 10, 16, 8, 14, 14, 12, susceptible to some changes based on race.
Mug
I like fairness and try to keep things like honor and chivalry in my mind. I'm a nerd but stay active in sports and things. So something not too tough, but a fighter and standing for something. I can be outgoing but don't seek out chances to be so....
Maybe a Cavalier of the sword or cockatrice... but those orders are both so 'one way or the other' I guess I lean towards the Sword, or like to think I do. I could also maybe classify myself as a ranger or wrestler type, but I better keep it to one concept at a time. :) Maybe I can multiclass later. :)
Half-Elf Cavalier (Order of the Sword)
NG
16, 14, 12, 8, 12, 13 (plus +2 racial to Charisma probably)
Edward Sobel
Dotting for interest. :)
Going to have to give a bit of thought about what kinda class I would be if I were in Golarion.
Based on what I've seen on your FB page I'd go with a custom class called "awesome mom" not sure how to make that one though.
anyway should our stats represent us in real life or more where we think they could and or should be

So I'mma jump on in here and say hell yeah I am in.
I too have been described as a Cavalier more than once. I suffer immensely from White Knight syndrome (Where by I am a sucker for any girl who is in distress), and also like to help people. I would definitely be a Cavalier of the Shield, I do like to stand up for the little guy as I was that little guy for most of my formative years.
I am charismatic and strong and rarely get ill, but I am quite a stocky gentleman so I will not be doing any ninja rolls any time soon! I can read people and situations quite well, but am sometimes a little scatter brained.
I can ride a horse passably well as I grew up in the heart of Horse Country, in Ireland. I spent my summers working on my uncles farm so I am no stranger to hard work. I studied martial arts for awhile, including European Sword.
I also enjoy long moonlit walks on the beach and like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain! :P Anyway... Character!

I'm interested. I'm an archaeologist in RL,really enjoy spending time in the "wilderness" (spend a lot of time in the summer in Yellowstone), and tend to intimidate folks who don't know me. So, a half-orc bard with the archAeology archetype(which works for me also cause I have no performance abilities whatsoever). Would change to Ranger (warden)at some point to reflect the wildlife lover in me. stats: 11 8 11 17 14 12. Probably use the half orc bonus to bump up strength.

Ah wow, this will be interesting.
I wasn't going to take part, but then realised I may as well because of how well I fit into certain classes....specifically a bare knuckled fighting Barbarian.
This was then what fully triggered my awakening of rage.
Regardless of how nice and innocent I was as a kid, always polite and friendly to everyone around me, I had a tendency to always bounce back from everything, analysing everything and rationalising things. Guess I was a wise kid.
Anyways, I then started having a go at anyone who insulted me to a point where I would get hysterical if they kept on, and if they pushed me that little bit further I'd go quiet. I'd say nothing and just glare at them, then all they needed to do was say one stupid thing and I would go for them relentlessly, punching them repeatedly and working out in my head exactly what I would do to them, and no matter how many times they may have pushed me over (I'm not easily tripped...guess I need a sky high CMD huh? :)), I would always get up because the rage inside of me prevented me from feeling pain and just turned me into a monster who would only stop when the enemy cried or I felt happy with the devastation I caused. Still, I haven't ever hit someone on the ground because people who stamp on other peoples heads make me sick, but aside from that, there's just no honour or sense of satisfaction or glory, when your enemy is at such a disadvantage.
This caused all kinds of anger issues for me (naturally) which I have now suppressed by my own choice, gaining control of what once controlled me, but haven't gotten rid of in case I ever need it as a defense mechanism again.
Aside from this, I'm a really nice guy, fairly attractive with a very pretty girlfriend and will stand up for those I care about, treating those around me in the same way I expect to be treated.
I have indomitable spirit and will power and always deal with things myself, never once seeking counselling etc. I always bounce back from everything life throws my way, and although I'm a darker person, I would protect the elderly and weak if I saw someone being beaten up, or worse....sexually assaulted, regardless of how I'd fare in the fight.
I'm fairly intelligent and although I chose not to go to University, in order to work out what I wanted to do with my life, I pursue my own life goal to become a Community/Social Media Manager for the gaming industry, of which I have five years of voluntary work experience with creating events for Capcom UK and Playstation UK (such as competitions, gaming fun nights and community meet ups), currently write as a games journalist for We Know Gamers (I was given Metal Gear Rising and Bioshock: Infinite for free to review, and have attended many gaming events) and am a voluntary PR and Communications/Social Media Manager for an upcoming computer game development studio called ZyloWare (ZyloWare and ZyloWare Facebook for those interested, and all of the content you can see on the facebook page has been uploaded and submitted by me).
I've also been a movie acting extra on two separate occasions, as well as a beta tester for Playstation through a research agency who hire you for two weeks every six months.
Sadly I need these things to pay and hopefully they will get me to where I want to be, but being bullied and learning how to deal with things is what made me who I am today, and so I wouldn't change anything that happened to me.
I love being able to include everyone in things I come up with/create, probably because I know how horrible it feels to be ostracised, but I'm a very social and likeable guy. I'm also 26 on April 16th, but still act like a hyperactive five year old at times, because I'm playful and turned my shy, terrified personality into a strong, independent and outgoing one.
I've always got time for people if they have time for me, and my attitude varies from Neutral to Neutral Good and Chaotic Good mostly.
I've fallen off a cliff and exploded the ACL in my knee...didn't cry, tried to walk home but was given a lift. The pain though, man that sucked!
I can read people well, so sense motive should be high.
I'm incredibly loyal and trust people, but only at face value until they prove to me they can be trusted.
Plus, someone older than me picked a fight with me, made me flip out, but didn't hit me, so I punched a Dungeons and Dragons book (it was in front of me) so hard that I broke my hand by smashing a chunk of my metacarpal bone clean off. I laughed...which normal people wouldn't do, and then had a tournament at Sony London the next day and even got through a round...regardless of the fact I could only move my fingers slightly, though not my hand at all. :p
I'd most likely be a mixture of unarmed Barbarian and Fighter, with one level of Martial Artist from going to a Karate class for a few weeks as a kid, and a boxing class for a few weeks when I was 16 or so. Add my ability to learn and mimic combat moves and actions incredibly fast, with lightning quick reflexes and I have what is probably the most ridiculously unworkable mixture of classes for a Pathfinder character ever.
Stats will be up later on, and from what I spoilered, I may be in control of anger, but I let go I have absolutely no control whatsoever, so a standard Barbarian over an Urban one would work best for that.
Anyway, this will be hard.... :/
I haven't once tried to create an unarmed Fighter or Barbarian, especially not a diplomatic, honourable and friendly one, with great speed, strength, psychotic rage and the bullied trait.
I will possibly fail, but regardless I'd like to join as this sounds like a laugh. :)

Since there's no way for a Magus to access the Bardic Knowledge class ability, I'll be putting ranks in Knowledge skills until I have them all filled.
The spells are what I would have prepared if I was teleported into Golarion right now. I have a knack for being unnoticed (vanish) and am an amateur magician (prestidigitation, mage hand). I'm also completely unflappable and almost impossible to scare/freak out/make uncomfortable (illusion of calm and "Jaded" trait). Actually, my friends call me Spock and/or Data.
Although I have no "presence" or leadership skills (aka CHA), people tend to like and feel comfortable around me extremely quickly. Not really sure how to incorporate that into the crunch. Also, it really sucks that Bluff is a CHA-based skill, because I'm an awesome liar. :-)

Kir H
Here's Lexi's character, Kir. :) And here's my explanation of her.
A rationale of me:
I picked bard because I believe I am a performer. Now, while I do a mix of things, including different instruments, teaching (which is a type of performance sometimes) and singing, I'm not particularly specialized at any of them. Still, I know that I have a high Charisma score, for all I'm erratic and sometimes over-energetic. :) Bard is still the best fit for what I do and what I love to do.
My abilities fell out where they did because of several things - I'm charismatic, like I said, but a bit of a space cadet without much common sense (wisdom 9). While I'm pretty smart (int 14), I'm kinda lazy about it. Another reason I picked Bard is because I know a lot of small things about a lot of things, rather than a lot about a few, like a Bard. Strength Dex and Con are all at 12 because while I'm not far above average, I am pretty tall and inherited my parent's nordic stock (thus Ulfen), and am fairly strong. I'm not sick often, and I'm pretty coordinated.
I gave myself Perform: sing because I am a singer, and even have sung professionally for a little while. I also have craft (books) because I write alot. Not that I make books or book quality material, but its the closest thing I found to a writer. My social skills like bluff and intimidate are good, and technically I should be better at sense motive, but it doesn't work out with the pathfinder rules. :)
I gave her a bow because I also do archery (in fact I taught it for a few years).
I gave her 'patient optimist' since that is my philosophy when dealing with people I don't like ... and I took World Traveller because I've lived all over the world! (In Thailand at the time of writing).
She speaks Tien to represent Thai (not really the same, but close as pathfinder gets), and gnome and skald replace Spanish and Portuguese because I dunno the Golarion equivalents. ;)
Other than that, not sure what else to explain! :)

I'd probably have to go with a tetori?? (I think that is the one i am thinking of) monk.
I wrestled all throughout middle school and high school and even got a scholarship for it, mostly because I was extremely lean (with about 3-4% bodyfat) and tall (at 6'4"/193cm). So I had a pretty large advantage in my weight class. But I declined it for an "overcoming adversity" scholarship of less money because I didn't want to go through college while dealing with a sport. I also started helping at my cousins middles school wrestling team practices to give them a better point of view on what they will see in the future. Their current coach pretty much has no experience. >.<
Both my middle school and high school were private ones, almost like a monastery I suppose. They were both catholic schools, but I was lucky to have a few amazing teachers who taught many different religions in class to show the similarities and differences between the world faiths.
I was always bad at any type of Public speaking and I an an INTJ so my charisma is going to be low.
We'll see how this plays out.

I really like this idea. I always have believed that gaming is a great way to discover who you are and who others are. I am fairly wise, and I tend to watch and take my time, I also get upset easily, but when I do I tend to call on inner reserves of tranquility to overcome the challenges faced before me. I am thinking of going with a monk/serene Barbarian combination. I am not terribly strong (actually im rather weak) so I would probably take feats to allow me to use my surprising dexterity and speed to my advantage.
