that is how a DM of mine in 5th addition ruled it, so yes. You are still punching with your fists.

So, speaking of loot, people should really think about if they want any of the stuff we got from the Hand. If you don't express interest in stuff, I'm just going to use my best judgement in assigning things to people/selling things (and really, I don't always know what would be useful/a hindrance to your character).

Also look over the new stuff, which I will start inputting into my spreadsheet in a minute. I will be selling everything in probably about 26 hours.

Edit: Whereby "everything" I mean some random misc things, non-magical armor and weapons, plus the following (unless claimed)
- Full plate armor
- +1 dagger
- +1 leather armor
- Alluring golden apple

Hey DG, what's your opinion on cracked Ioun Stones? Apparently a cracked/flawed stone has a 25% chance to work in a wayfinder; would it be possible to buy, say, four, assume one works, and resell the other three?

So... a while back, we had a discussion about a group name, but never settled on anything. I'm thinking now "Mummycrushers" or something like that might be appropriate, after how quickly we've handled our last few encounters with undead.


I guess this is another house rules thing? Is having an alignment enough to bypass DR in this game?

Yes, you don't have to have weapons of good quality, but you can instead be good.

If it says damage reduction 10/good. You don't need a good weapon, though it can be done that way, but you can also bypass it by simply having a good character.

Oh, huh. Hadn't heard that—it's definitely a house rule—and dang, that makes what is traditionally the hardest DR to overcome into the easiest DR to overcome.

By the way, in the future: typical perception distance to spot enemies in the desert is 6d6x20 feet (and I'd also like to make spot checks to see undead from far away down any long city streets that it's possible for).

This would, in general, give us a few free rounds to set up ambushes or stack on buff spells in long-range battles before the undead reach us, which I think could be really valuable and just summed up as a single post saying "I do this, then this, then this until the enemies arrive."

okay, but the area is filled with buildings. there are several off the map, so really you would not have had that straight view. There are actually buildings behind you off the map which is why you can't go off the map.

I'll remember that in the future, but because you had to get around several buildings to get here, it would have been hard as some of the buildings are seemingly placed randomly instead of organized like in today's world.

I'm just not really sure why we need some of the rolls we do. Like, why do we need bluff? Unless y'all are hiding something, none of us have anything to do with the undead uprising. So bluff shouldn't be needed.


Well since it’s an opposed roll it might be more about exposing the oppositions exaggerations and half-truths.

I interpreted it as less we're trying to bluff the people present, and more convince them that this crazy undead judge (and possibly the judge himself) needs to disappear, and fast.

About the rolls, it gives vague details on this part in the book. So it is entirely left to the players and the DM to figure it out or rather what it means roleplay wise. He is an evil judge if that helps.

That's about right. I think you also missed some woman whose husband got turned into a zombie, which was sadly anti-climactic as Zuberu just convinced her to kill him. And some weird random judge guy from who knows where that we defeated with the power of our roll playing.

You may have also missed Elmar one-shotting one of our encounters.

Yeah, there were some weird encounters in there, but we also fried everything in two rounds. I believe your scorching ray helped with one or two things.

And yeah, I one-shotted two Huecuvas in the same action, it was wacky (but they were also a bit lower-CR than us).

Meanwhile, we're level 5, so if you just want to lob some level 3 spells into the battle and then worry about the rest of your stats later that's probably fine.

Regarding the spoiler tags, it's your game to run as you see fit. I'm just suggesting that an alternate way might be like this:

If we get the first but miss the second, it can be chalked up to "we found out later what we missed".
