Alright, thanks for the heads up.
So I’m assuming I’ll be coming in at 4th level. Zuberi is a monk [martial artist] 1, cleric 3. His 5th level will be monk again but he’ll be full cleric from then on.
Stats
19 str (includes racial and 4th level bump)
13 dex
16 con
10 int
14 wis
12 cha
His cleric domains are going to be crocodile and strength (ferocity) and he’ll have the following feats starting out, Cooperative Maneuvers, Cooperative Defense, and Defensive Combat Training.
I’ll get a bit of background stuff written up next assuming this is all kosher.
Zuberu
Background stuff is done. I'll get the crunch together when I get home.
It looks like you guys are rolling for HP or taking the average (whichever is better). Correct me if I'm wrong.
Monk (con, toughness): 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
Cleric (con, toughness, favored class): 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 13
Cleric (con, toughness, favored class): 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 8 - Bumped to 10

Out of curiosity, Zuberu, can I ask how you're planning to play out the character? With only a few monk levels, your ability to do maneuvers goes down over time, and you don't get as many flurry attacks which makes two-handing a better way to take advantage of your massive strength.
(also: we lost our party maneuver fighter, so coordinated maneuvers/defense might not actually be useful with the remaining party)
Kaylor Traice
What are Cooperative Maneuvers and Defense? The closest I can find are Coordinated Maneuvers/Defense, which are both teamwork feats.
Zuberu
Zuberu can function as a pseudo inquisitor. He's got a caimen familiar (granted by his domain) that has the Valet archetype. One of the Valet's perks is that they count as having all the same teamwork feats as their master (much like an inquisitor with Solo Tactics).
Maneuvers aren't a big part Zuberu's tactics. It's meant to be an option but not his only one. He's still (mostly) a cleric. In most fights he'll just chop things up with his falchion.
Elmar Thonsson
Ah, fair enough. If there's only one maneuver you're planning on throwing, it's often worth it to avoid provoking the AoO, but otherwise I guess it doesn't matter much.
Elmar Thonsson
The characters still in the party are:
1. Elmar (me). Dwarf ranger. Ranged DPS, back-up tank, trap disabler, with aspirations towards battlefield control (poison arrows, snap shot feat chain).
2. Nahoce. Dhamphir cleric of Pharasma. Channels energy, heals, and tanks. Probably also the closest thing we have to an actual party face.
3. Avelloran. Elf wizard (conjurer). Lots of knowledge skills, seems to primarily focus on status/control spells.
4. Kaylor. Tiefling magus (kensai). Melee DPS, and our best slashing attacker for dealing with zombies.
5. Silver bullet. Incorporeal, invisible hobgoblin gunslinger. DMPC who shoots things and has mysterious metagame knowledge.

I fixed hims to he can hit and be hit. As it was in discussion. He can die. He also does not split loot with you, he gets paid a certain percentage by the real Men in Black, as he was hired by the government.
Yes, Level 4 gold.
Elmar Thonsson
Hmm... with your wis score, wouldn't a +1 breastplate give a bigger AC bonus (at the same cost, while lasting more than 4 hours)? Or +1 chain shirt to avoid ACPs etc.
Elmar Thonsson
Also: caimans are slow. Do you have some sort of quick-release backpack harness to carry that guy around and drop on people? Because that could actually be hilarious, hmm. I guess he's also light enough to just carry on your shoulders (real dwarf caimans only grow to like 15 lb)
Kaylor Traice
Copy cat. :-P Also, this means 3/5 of us don't use any kind of armor. Which I find amusing.
Elmar Thonsson
I use plenty of armor! That said, yeah, it probably makes sense for you to either go full plate, chain shirt, or nothing.
(also, where does that lost +2 come from? But you've got ridiculous amounts of CMD anyway)

HP: 1d8 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

For treasure, does anybody want these?
Akhentepi's Armor
Tablet of Languages Lost
Cheating Gloves
I don't wear armor. The tablet, my vote is copy down the Osiriani/Kelish translation onto normal (and therefore lighter) paper and buy a few scrolls of comprehend languages. And I don't really need the cheating gloves.
I'm assuming that we're keeping the wands/scrolls/potions and that nobody wants the large greataxes, dagger, or club.
Avelloran: If you wanted to copy spells from the captured spellbook, here are the non-cantrips it had in it: burning hands, floating disk, identify

thanks, got it to work, the image was from a website however, so I had to upload it from an Url. Though I don't know if there are pre-drawn images from book 2. I just dicovered these pre-drawn images the other day, which would have made it a lot faster as instead of drawing the full map, I would have only had to draw the squares or whatever shapes needed for monsters.
Will wait to see what room players pick.
Kaylor Traice
Add these two items to the loot list. They were suppose to be in the AP, but I missed them somehow. They appear on the Mummy's mask treasure page, but it doesn't say where in the AP you would have gotten them or I simply did not see it.
Is it safe to assume these are both relics?
And in case people are trying to figure out what they can buy from the auction, most likely we'll each get at least 2k from selling things. If nobody claims any of the other loot, it'll probably be closer to 2.8-3k.
Everybody currently playing will also get an additional 158.75g from previous relics sold as by the end of book 1 Kaylor probably trusts everyone (except SB) enough to split profits evenly and make up for the past.
If nobody speaks up for any of the items we've gotten so far by the end of this combat, I'll assume it's safe to sell them all.
If you're wondering, any items on my spreadsheet with an x or someone's name next to them are things I'm assuming we want to keep. Feel free to speak up if you disagree or if you want one of the items with an x next to it.
Elmar Thonsson
Heck, I'm excited to go shopping (and don't forget the thousands of GP of stuff the Hand is probably toting). Heck, I'm less than 10k away from buying all the minor items on my wishlist.
Elmar Thonsson
The silver holy symbol—what deity does it belong to? This will affect whether or not Elmar wants it.
EDIT: Oh, it's Nethys (unless we got another one).
Kaylor Traice
Ok, I know combat was short, but I'm going to go ahead and sell off the things we got before fighting the Hand since I don't think anyone really wants them anyway.
Elmar, Nahoçe, and Avelloran add 2941.7 + 158.75 relic gold from what I owe you for a total of 3,100.45 gold each
Also, add the following items to your inventory (if you don't want it/think it's not useful for the group, you can sell it and tell us what our share would be). The lists are based off of who can cast what spells.
Important Note: The following lists include items I think I mentioned before.
Scrolls
- Remove Paralysis
- Align Weapon x3
- Bless x2
- Cure Moderate Wounds
- Effortless Armor
- Sound Burst
Wands
- Lessor Restoration (10 charges)
- Cure Light Wounds (26 charges)
Scrolls
- Detect Secret Doors
- Halt Undead
- Knock
- Flaming Sphere
- Identify
- Levitate
- Shocking Grasp (CL2)
- Charm Person
- Invisibility
- Warding Weapon
- Magic Missile
And if it's ok with you, I'm going to grab the scroll of burning hands (CL2) and the second scroll of magic missile.
Wands
- Grease (10 charges)
- Vanish (9 charges)
- Scorching Ray (6 charges)
And if it's ok with you, I'd like the wand of Shield (9 charges)
- Scroll of Hold Person
- Scroll of Magic Weapon
Potions
- Cure Light Wounds x2 (I'll grab one of them, unless there's complaints)
- Hide from Undead
- Cure Moderate Wounds x2
- Bull's Strength (Probably Nahoce? I think she's the only one who actually uses strength at all. We could also give it to the new guy once we trust him.)
Alchemical-ish Stuff
- Alchemist's Fire x4
- Acid x2
- Holy Water x2
- Sunrod x4 (one each?)
Misc
- Bracers of Armor +1 (probably Avelloran?)
- Ioun Torch (should be not me)
- Everburning Torch (might be good for me to carry since I can do so without using a hand)
Elmar's claimed the masterwork thieve's tools
- Alluring Gold Apple
- Leather Armor +1
- Lots of other random things. See spreadsheet for details.

So it looks like, now that we're past book 1, we might be spending more time above ground. Elmar's going to get a mount in one level (via animal companion), and I figure our party is now wealthy enough that they can buy majestic steeds to travel around on without batting an eye, as a sign of status and wealth.
The big options seem to be either camels or horses (probably light horses a la Arabians, if we want something that can thematically run on sand). Elmar might even be willing to buy animals for everyone at our next loot-sell, as a sign of friendship, since like Kaylor he's pretty chummy with critters.
So my question is, as a party (before I get my animal companion): when we need to travel at some point, do we want horses or camels?
Kaylor Traice
I just figured that Kaylor, being both a Tiefling and having a low Cha score, probably wasn't treated all that well while he was studying. So he's used to people being mean to him or trying to take advantage of him.
Although I'd say the paranoia about SB is totally story based; he has uncanny knowledge about the dungeons (and therefore is clearly setting a lot of this up because how else would he know so much?). He also clearly has a suicidal streak resulting in him once yelling to try to attract all the monsters in one area without asking anybody first. And Kaylor enjoys living. And is why Kaylor once made a wish that made him intangible, invisible, silenced, and mute. Which then got downgraded to just invisible. Which then got downgraded again to just invisible when not in combat.
He also totally attacked Kaylor once; the only reason why Kaylor didn't retaliate is because Elmar said he was under some mind control thing, but Kaylor still thinks that he was just using that as an excuse to attack him. Kaylor also resents SB for at various points treating him like an idiot. But he figures that's about par for the course (the magic users he studied with thought he was a big, stupid brute), and he's actually quite lucky that the rest of the group treats him as well as they do. Why, he may even begin to trust them enough to let them pet Sam.
Elmar Thonsson
I'd say think of it as more of a job interview type of thing. We've only been traveling together for about a week, but at this point we're a pretty battle-hardened band of twitchy unded-smashers. And some random guy in an intimidating outfit and hauling a crocodile walks up to us and asks if he can work for us.
Now the party is made up of relatively friendly fellows (I believe Nahoce and Avelloran are neutral but generally theatrical and fun, while Kaylor, Elmar, and SB are all CG), but we have literally no idea who you are, other than "some priest who may enjoy murdering things with a sword."
Really, Elmar just wanted to hear someone vouch for Zuberu; and if Nahoce, as another local priest-type, recognizes you and can say that you're certainly not a serial killer or bandit, that's good enough.
Elmar Thonsson
But basically, we won a pretty lucrative commission to explore themthar ruins. We're not going to just split it with anyone who shows up and says "let me be part of your team too because I like stabbing things" for the same reason that Google doesn't even read 90% of the resumes they receive.
I've also got a hunch that there may be plot shenanigans at the beginning of book 2 that will lead to us being very thankful for any help that we can get; and I don't see any reason why we wouldn't let you travel with us until that happens.
Kaylor Traice
Eh, I'd say not really given that he's approaching with the intent to join an adventuring group. It'd probably be like having a guy come up and be like, "Hey, I'd like to join your militia." And other adventuring groups seem pretty competitive. Especially given that one just tried to kill us just 'cause they wanted the area we had. So you could easily be a trap from a different group.
Although Kaylor just initially thought you were a thief/scam artist.
Edit: Oh, and in regards to the camels/horses question posed earlier, I'm fine either way. I think I have a slight preference for camels though just 'cause they're different.
Elmar Thonsson
"...littered with scars, plainly visible on his bare torso. Although only middling in height he boasts a massively built physique, swollen with muscle."
And the guy's carrying a gigantic sword and a small crocodile. Just saying, probably more dangerous than your average villager.
Elmar Thonsson
Maybe he's been busy lately, or something's stopping him (for instance, I lost internet in my apartment for a week not too long ago, which meant I could only post during breaks at work—luckily I work late and take lots of breaks)

That what I was thinking. I hope he is not sick which is just one of many possibilities.

Since when do adamantine weapons ignore natural armor? Is that a house rule I missed?
I believe you're thinking of the Brilliant Energy property. Adamantine doesn't make your attacks touch attacks.
Elmar Thonsson
Yeah, the DM house-ruled that adamantine bypasses light, medium, and natural armor, unless it's made out of mithral or stronger metal. (And we're loading up with adamantine weapons to demonstrate just how balanced that is).
Meanwhile, Brilliant Energy doesn't actually cut through natural armor, because it's not a real lightsaber.
