As the auction draws near Irakelesh grow more and more anxious and excited. "I can't wait for this. Haji, why don't you seem excited? I mean, we will get to see so many interesting artifacts. Just the mere weight of history behind each of these things is mind boggling. And then the stories behind how they were recently found. It's just so fascinating. I know that I can't wait." Irakelesh leans back in his chair, a foot on the edge of the table they are sitting around helps him keep his balance.
"Oh! And I hear they will have 2000 old honey for us to try. Can you believe that?"
Knowledge(history), free inspiration: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 10 + (6) = 28 Do I know about the Okhentis that Aliva asked about?
Before anyone can respond he leans back forward, a conspiratorial tone in his voice. "Oh, I also heard that the church of Pharasma is upset with all of this looting they call it. Makes no sense. Didn't they sponsor this whole event? Well, whatever. Anyway, they plan to increase taxes on all of us. I bet that won't go over well."
Knowledge(religion),free inspriation: 1d20 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 11 + (3) = 19 Do I know anything about Mumia?
| GM Dak |
Irakelesh doesn't know any thing about the Okhentis though he is fairly certain the name has no real historical relevance maybe something more pertinent to the here and now. He does know that Mumia is an expensive, very addictive drug. It provides some resistance to disease and curses but it is rumored that addicts sometime turn into undead themselves.
The group eventually sets out for the auction. They enjoy the free food and drink, and even get to try some of the 2000 year old honey, which surprising is still very tasty. Apparently it was donated by the sole surviving member of one of the other adventuring groups.
You continue to make small talk, looking over various items on display, most of it artwork and items of historical relevance but little of particular use past collecting. After a time, the auction begins, showcasing various artifacts recovered from the Dead City. As the auction gets into full swing, suddenly the doors to the Jackal burst open and six undead come shuffling into the room, beating down the two guards at the door! The room is filled with screams as attendees jump from their seats and head for the stage trying to get away from the undead.
The two guards lay on the ground, bleeding out, as the zombies shuffle into the room, attacking the people they come across!

Aliva, Haji, and Ai'sha all stand and prepare themselves for a fight, helping to get the innocents away from the undead. Haji moves to where he can see Aliva and links her life essence to his own. Irakelesh gets off a decent shot, it hits the undead but doesn't even penetrate its skin, instead the arrow just hits it and falls to the floor. G'nock has a well placed shot that goes right through the closest zombies eye socket and drops it to the ground. Khufu pulls out a wand and activates it as a shimmering, translucent armor covers him before fading away.

Gnock lands two arrows into the one Aliva is fighting finishing it off. Haji calls on a blessing to protect him from the evil of these undead as he moves forward ready to join the fight. Irakelesh looses another arrow but one of the civilians bumps him as he lets go causing him to miss. Khufu blasts on of the zombies moving into the doorway with a bright flash of light that sears its skin off and it crumbles to the floor. Ai'sha unprepared for a fight instead turns to her magic as she conjures grease beneath the undead.

G'nock looses two more arrows, however while the one hits it doesn't leave any lasting damage. Haji attacks the undead on him, slicing into it with his weapon but the undead still moves to attack him. Irakelesh shots at the one Aliva is fighting and even with aiming around Aliva and the thing on the floor making it harder to his he still manages to strike the undead, though the wound is superficial at best. Khufu tries to cast a spell at the one on Haji but as the small beam of energy arcs toward the undead it moves at the last moment causing it to miss. Ai'sha hides behind Aliva while the undead continue their assault. Aliva unleashes a wave of positive energy that was over the remaining undead. The one closest to her doesn't seem to be nearly as effected as the other two and her energy kills the one Haji had already been fighting. G'nock looses two more arrows at the one on Haji. Both hit, but only the one does any damage. Haji promptly lays into it with his blade slicing its head open and dropping it to the ground. Irakelesh gives up on his bow and pulls out his morningstar, with the thing on the ground it makes it easier to hit and Irakelesh slams it with his weapon. Once again though he finds the weapon isn't overly effective leaving just a scratch.

Out of combat
Seeing the group has vanquished the undead at the doors the civilians in the auction house begin to rush toward the doors trying to escape out into the streets. You notice the two guards taken down in the initial onslaught look rather pale as blood pools on the floor under their bodies. As the screams of panic subside from the attendees you screaming coming from all over the city. Something is clearly very, very wrong...

"It sounds like there is trouble in the city and not just here."
"Do we stay here, and defend this place, or try to move to someplace safer?"

"Neither! Whatever is out there must be dealt with!" Haji shouts loud and sincere in his deep voice.

He moves back away from the doorway and starts to stack some of the benches and chairs into a defensive wall.

"Well that helps, but I'd still need my scimitar. Unless we can find one on the streets as well."

When the party regruops at the front door, Haji extends his life bond to Ai'sha aswell.
Answering Khufukhaf, "Sounds fine by me.", he steps out.

As you discuss your plans people from the auction continue to rush out. In their haste, one person shoves another who trips into some nearby scaffholding at the front of the building.
