If the group agrees, he'll head west to the southwest corner.

Starflit groans as she casts some spells to heal the damage she took during her ill-conceived tumble attempt. She's left with only a shallow cut over her right eyebrow.

Once his check of the area is done, Tristain will follow Kyffin to the southwest corner, which is a very good corner, Tristain agrees. It's almost like the starting corner, but different.

After you finish healing yourself, but before Al can do more than clear a few pieces of rubble, Kyffin leads the way through the corridors again. Moving south you find knocked-over shelves are stacked upon one another as a makeshift barricade preventing entrance to whatever chamber lays behind. The barricade stands 8 feet high and blocks the room’s entrance.

Agreed; around a table would be easier. As it sounds like most people wanted to move on, I'll say you all interrupted Kyffin's casting before he started and go with that.

Backing away, you head to the unexplored section of the library, where you find the shelves hold hundreds of books bound with red leather.

A pair of wooden, iron-bound double doors stand closed to the south. As you investigate, it appears something is blocking the doors from opening into the room beyond.

The books appear to be by a woman named Avracrem Gant, and from the title, looks like they include hundreds of treatises on magic. You can spend more time exploring later, should you so choose.

Kyffin can't budge the doors, but Tenebrynn -- perhaps with the fear of Tristain's wanting to examine the books -- blasts them off their hinges, sending them flying and revealing what looks like a heavy table on the other side that was blocking it.

Beyond the damage the gnome inflicts, this room is in disarray. An alchemist’s lab is set up on one of the tables, and a few of the shelves have been cleared of books. Throughout the room, a chaotic swirl of yellow hues has been painted, daubed, and scratched into the walls, on the spines of books, and across the floor. Unfortunately, before you can take in any more you see a familiar figure -- one you encountered several times back in Cassomir -- and a vaguely humanoid creature about the size of a dwarf.

"No, no!" Miacknian Mun cries. "Haha! You won't get us! No, you won't, haha! Get them, get them!" his voice rises to a piercing screech as he prepares to throw some vial at you and the dwarf-thing steps in front of your path.

Albert: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Kyffin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Starflit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Tenebrynn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Tristain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Antagonists: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Looks like Starflit is up, then the antagonists. I'll update the combat map in a minute or two, but probably won't post again until next year, however, so we'll handle in 2022. Happy New Year, all!

Starflit tries to puzzle out what the dwarf-like thing is before going into attack mode.

Starflit Knowledge (arcana) Check (Monster Lore): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

I went with Knowledge (arcana) since Mun seems to have a penchant for constructs, but most of Starflit's Knowledge checks have the same modifier. She'd be most interested in its defenses and vulnerabilities.

It appears to be a homunculus. It's resistant to magic and is a construct, with the usual construct traits. Judging by the look of it, it's probably got quick reflexes (it has evasion).

Starflit identifies the lumpy dwarf-thing and pulls a sneaky deception at the same time. "Eat this, homunculus!" she snarls, moving forward 10 feet and hurling her magic starknife at the thing.

+1 returning starknife (PBS): 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 1 = 29 for magic, piercing damage (PBS, Startoss Style): 1d4 + 3 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 6 = 14 (Special: Using Startoss Comet)

Likely Startoss Comet effect vs. Miaknian Mun....

+1 returning starknife (PBS): 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 1 = 17 for magic, piercing damage (PBS, Startoss Style): 1d4 + 3 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 + 6 = 14 (Special: Using Startoss Comet)
