If it wasn't obvious from the background, Ideyoshi also would like a legendary weapon. The idea would be that his existing Nodachi is actually imbued with the spirit of his grandfather. Tried my best to get its stats below.

By the way, does anyone here plan to use the surge ability? I was going to take the Focus ability which allows allies to roll their surges twice and choose the better result. But I don't want to take that if it'll go unused.

If Drogusk wants Marshal that's fine. Ideyoshi doesn't really tap into the Marshal path very much, and could just as easily go Trickster.

I just realized that crits with vital strike do not multiply the vital strike bonus. So he does not inflict quite that much damage. Sorry for not catching that sooner.

My home internet is being ... much less than cooperative (again) and I may not be able to come online every day. Please don't think that I've given up on the game! I will try to return as I can... Feel free to DMPC me if such becomes necessary.

As to the spell: I'm using Wild Arcana to cast Mount for each of us. It ought to shave quite a bit of time off our journey, with my spellcasting level and the mounts not needing food or rest.

It was a tough fight -- I think this may actually be one of the toughest fights I've seen in a module (the only ones I think I've run that have been tougher were the end of the first book of Kingmaker and, maybe, the mid-way point of Snows of Summer) -- but not *as* bad. I probably could have gotten a TPK if I were a mean GM. :)

They had ways to get to the gargoyles (and I don't think one person entered on his own, which got all of the gargoyles to focus on Ideyoshi and take him out in that first round).

Yep. We just had a very different mix of classes and abilities then you guys. A zen archer and a halfling mounted charger backed up by some dedicated casters. It was very versatile and "explodey". :D

I gave it as much 'boom' as I could, but I was cut down to very low hp rather quickly... ^^;


I think you guys are doing great. At the very least it's a fun read. While you guys might have struggled against this fight, there's another fight that went rather poorly or us that your team may fare much better at.

(And when I said 'explodey', I wasn't actually talking out out caster spells. Our archer and cavalier could post some sick damage numbers ... if we could get them the opportunities.)

No. Mike asked me to contribute some monsters as stretch goals, but it seems unlikely to make it to that point.

I've worked very little with Mike -- he helped developed my module with Adventureaweek.com -- but he seems like a good guy. I know he's very enthusiastic about this project and seems to have some great talent lined up (Mercedes Lackey is apparently contributing, which I think is really cool!).
