That was a *long* time ago, wasn't it JC? I think I was but lvl 4 at the time? City o' Strangers with GM GoblinBrains, right?

This abject, useless worm remembers his debt to Thorne, and hopes to repay him some day.

Assuming he can ever make it out of 12th level

I have been thinking about running a pbp Eyes of the Ten one of these days. It would be a good excuse to read the module.

Liberty's Edge

Sadly my monk doesn't have *exactly* 33 xp at 12th levels, so is disqualified from a retirement arc by the inane rules.

That's a rule? Odd.

Liberty's Edge

If by "odd" you mean "dumb", then yes.

Seekers (previously known as retired characters) are offered the opportunity to accomplish one last major mission for the Pathfinder Society: participating in a Seeker story arc (previously known as a retirement arc). To play a Seeker (Tier 12) story arc, the character must start it with exactly 33 XP. If a character is used to play an 11th-level module starting at 31 or 32 XP or a Tier 12+ special scenario at 12th level, thus ending the module or special scenario with more than 33 XP, the character receives full credit for the module or special scenario, but may not play any part of a Seeker story arc (except for a few grandfathered exceptions—see the Pathfinder Society FAQ)

Well that is pretty dumb. I guess they wanted to try and level the playing field I guess, but honestly that really is a fool's errand given the disparity between classes, much less build quality between different levels of system mastery.

Liberty's Edge

OK, apparently they are removing the 33 XP clause once EOT goes out:

hey buzz want to deactivate the iron medusa? clear up some space n my page

done

Sovereign Court

We're ready, Mr Music...

The Exchange

I didnt miss the game thread on this did i?

Sovereign Court

Nope, I think Thevshi must have got caught up with something yesterday when intended to start, and then I already expected his weekends to be pretty sparse if at all. He's got 2 little boys and they eat his time. I imagine he'll end up starting Monday.

Sovereign Court

o good, today is my last nightmare day anyhow!

Good news and bad news.

Good news is I've got some more gainful employment going on. The bad news is I don't think I'm going to be able to commit to the time needed to play high level quickly.

I really appreciate the welcome and apologize for having to make a U-turn. I hope you guys all have lots of fun on the moon though.

Sovereign Court

Good luck with the new job.

Sovereign Court

gameplay is up now

Sovereign Court

It is unfortunate to learn that Farak, the Most Powerful Mage in All Absalom and Soon Tian Xia as Well, will be unable to join you. I wish you all the best.

Liberty's Edge

The presence of honored Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher would be welcome, were she so inclined to join us. Needless to say, she would have to consider the adventure worthy of an agent of her caliber.

Sovereign Court

I am honored by your invitation and by your vote of confidence in my abilities, but I have a pressing matter in Magnimar to which I must attend. I am afraid that it involves Sheila Heidmarch and a Sihedron. Those facts alone likely speak to the matter's importance and urgency.

I actually juuuust finished running The Moonscar for the group that PirateRob had to leave due to his new job. Ironically, my run also started off in Oppara. Not only did she take GM credit, but Lady Gabrielle is currently in Shattered Star Book VI as well.

That being said, I am open for consultation if the GM of your game gets stuck or finds himself in a tough spot, if you guys run into any trouble.

Things are going well, I think the boss likes me. I've got hours during the week now and am working on cutting back my pbps.

Hmm, I guess I wouldn't mind having Lady Gabrielle guest-star as an NPC in Oppara or something, perhaps be the quest-giver even if the GM wants that, if only to get a chance to screw around with other higher-level PCs and maybe say her goodbyes to Farak?

She would certainly be able to settle the debate about who the most powerful mage in all Absalom is.

Scarab Sages

Thorne really seems to have lost a bit in his retirement. I just spent the weekend with him looting an ancient tomb, and the only fire he summoned was completely shruged away by the foul beasts. It was pretty sad, really.

Yeah, we could have Gab's porters carry her ashes around to demonstrate to everyone what happens when they badmouth Thorne. She would be a useful warning to others.

You sure do talk a lot for a guy who's sole contributions were being turned to stone and trying to kill another party member.

Maybe we should have brought a rogue along with the party, I dunno.

I see. My offering to settle the debate only provokes your anger? That does not sound like confidence in one's position. It is as if you are afraid of what I would say.

The Exchange

I think it's quite funny the discussion of whos the most powerful mage and none are actually mages lol.. Yall must have played together for quite some time..

Sovereign Court

With this amount of farce around, Vars is going to start thinking he's a mage as well.

Shadow Lodge

Farce! You're almost as bad as that pretender Thorne.

And goodbyes to Farak from Gabi? I thought we had something going.

I am amused at the total hijacking of this recruitment thread.

Well, you'll have to free yourself up on Sundays and join us for the rest of our journey! Or we at least need to do a sweet play-by-post for our high-level PCs.

For now, perhaps the two (three, if Avoreal wants in) contenders could settle the debate with a staring contest in Oppara in the Gameplay thread? Lady Gabrielle will adjudicate. She has a rather unique perspective on the whole matter.

Did I just offer to hijack the Gameplay thread?

Like Thorne is going to have his powerfulness adjudicated by the whims of some Taldan tart. She, like the nation she represents, is nothing more than puffery hiding the crumbling foundations of former glory.

-Thorne, TMPMIAA

Sovereign Court

Now don't go badmouthing Taldor or you might have to have a discussion with my falcata. You won't enjoy that. Only us Taldans get to badmouth Taldor.

Sovereign Court

I see. I wonder just what sort of power I hold over you, Thorne, which would make you say such things, things which are unbecoming of the Most Powerful Mage in All Absalom.

I also find it humorous to hear a comment about my age from a mage older than Amenopheus.

The Exchange

I would argue that certain Qadiran's, with certain information, on certain royal members have to right to badmouth Taldan's lol.. Although doing so might provoke more than your falcata..

On a side note, what if all the pretender mages get polymorphed by a real mage? Does that make said mage the most powerful then? Seems logical on all accounts..

"Such a test does not measure the power of the competing mages, simply the ability of the competing mages to resist power. These are two different concepts."

She gently cools herself with her ladies' fan as she continues. "What sort of 'certain information' might you be referring to? It is impossible to claim such a right without credible information to support that claim."

The Exchange

"In my eyes a mages power rests in his/her ability to control the weave.. The more control, the more powerful.. It's very simple.. As for the information i spoke of it would take a certain number of gold coins to know that information.. A very high number indeed.." She readies a quick retreat being surrounded by a number of taldan pathfinders..

Sovereign Court

"Well, then, until you receive such a sum... there is nothing to be worry about."

The Exchange

"The ability to manipulate the weave comes in both offensive and defensive powers.. Mastering both shows a true mages power.."

The Exchange

"If it is impossible to claim such things without credible information then one would assume that one has said credible information.. In this instance in a form of documents, but that's neither here nor there.. I see no coin therefore that is all that need be said.."

If you played tomb of the iron medusa u know what i speak of, but its not like in the world of pfs anything can be done about it lol.. It can still be threatened with lol..

Sovereign Court

She turns to Thorne and Farak and considers the question for a moment. "That would... be overly dangerous to the rest of us, I assume. A staring contest would be much more entertaining."

The Exchange

"Overly dangerous indeed.. Perhaps ill save that bit of info for a rainy day.."

Silver Crusade

Hmmm... guess I'm too late for this game... ah well..
