Hello everyone. After some personal issues killed my last attempt at this rather abruptly on my part I'm going to be trying to run this again.

This game is going to be a very special game in that I am not going to be starting at the beginning of the AP. We will be jumping into the start of book 4. Thats right we're skipping the first 3 books completely. I am going to provide my players with the needed information to fill in the important story line details and we will be assuming the party that is picked has been working together since the Swallow Tail festival and has grown into a very tight knit group by now. Pulling this off is going to require EXCELLENT role playing skill. I am going to be looking for players to interweave their stories with the other players and to discuss with others how you've dealt with certain things.

I am not requiring that the people who apply here have previous knowledge of the AP but those who have played the first 3 books before will not be turned away because there is no chance of meta gaming because we're skipping that material. We will discuss in greater how the party made it through the first 3 books and what strings of connection we want to have after we get players picked.

Anyone interested please comment below. Any comments/concerns are also encouraged to be either posted below or you can PM me. I will be on from 1:30-4:30 CST to answer any questions. Please see the spoiler below for character creation guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: Any of the original applicants will be given preference over new players. So if anyone wants to try this again and was previously selected please let me know. If they all return and I get enough crazy people wanting to try this I might run two groups. After the holidays my schedule lightens up immensely so I will have time to run two games easily.

If anyone has an issue with me trying to run this I request that flames be directed to my inbox and not expressed here. I know my history as of late has not been that stellar here and I am trying to rebuild my reputation. If you can not respect that please do not pollute this thread with your crap.

Character Creation Guidelines:

*Books: All Paizo hardcovers are allowed except the Occult book. If you want to use other paizo materials(softcovers) ask first but you will more than likely get approved.

*NO third party publishing sources allowed

*Races: All standard races are allowed as well as playable races in the bestiaries(1-4). If there is a race in the advanced race guide your interested in playing please ask.

*Characters should be 11th level.

*You will have 82,000gp to spend. No more than 50% should be spent on a single item. Please keep magic items to those found in hardcovers only. Please try to limit yourselves to 5 wondrous items or less. No such restrictions on potions, rings, rods, wands, or magic weapons exist.

*Two traits will be chosen, one of which must be from the players guide.

*Hit points: Roll your hit points as well /level on the boards. If you roll below your average HP for a level you can take average.

*Stat generation will be 25 point buy

*All dice rolls should be done in spoilers as to not clutter up the thread.

Dotting for later.

Sovereign Court

Couuuld be interesting.

dot for interest

Likewise dotting in.

Silver Crusade

.

Have a fighter under construction. Wish Hero Lab had Weapon Masters ready. It would make this easier.

Thank you all for your interest. I wanted to let you guys know that as of now 2 of the 4-5 seats in the first party have been filled but there are 2-3 remaining and like I said if I get better interest than I did yesterday I wouldn't mind running a second party.

I'm going to express interest. Not certain of the role I'd like to play. I haven't played RotRL yet so I am a little leary of ruining it for when I do get the chance to play through the whole thing.

Silver Crusade

So what classes have taken the two seats please?

dotting.

i have a character in Shattered Star whose backstory includes that his father was involved in the events of RotRL, and I'd love the chance to actually run him through at least part of it... I'm running a very special version of it that's in book 1 right now, and I'm probably going to be starting up a second (different) special version of it from the beginning this month or next, so starting in book 3 sounds great to me!

Baldric Moore is a fighter[lore warden/martial master]. He trained in a martial academy devoted to a style of combat which claims to trace its roots all the way back to Thassilon. The idea is that its a style that favors cleverness and adaptability that the bodyguards and soldiers of powerful wizards might have been trained in. At the academy he was required to learn about ancient Thassilonian culture and language (scholar of the ancients trait).

I have a first level alias already, but I will gladly update him if you aren't already at your melee quota...

Dotting with extreme MAGIC!!! Marigold here aught to be fun to level up.

My fighter is actually a thrower, so more ranged, though he is tanky and capable of being in close.

Glad to see interest in this starting to pick up.

Baldric isn't a stereotypical big dumb fighter either... He is big, but he's also clever and knowledgeable. He favors reach weapons but with martial flexibility he can change his style a lot when needed- grabbing archery feats when needed or combat maneuvers when they might work...

GM- we don't know what the 2 filled slots are... Is it worth overhauling Baldric to apply for this game? Also, are you open to variant multiclassing at all? I might consider picking up VMC Magus (or maybe even bard) if you are.

Look up -- he said the two reserved seats are a summoner and a fighter. :)

Thank you- that post ninja'd my first post and I totally missed it.

I guess maybe I'll stalk the thread and see if it looks like two tables are going to materialize before I get to work :(

I beliebe I'm fighter 1, and considering the builds are quite different, you might as well get something submitted.

Sovereign Court

I have a couple ideas, but what I pick will also depend partly on whether the other Runelords game that I'm in is actually dead, dead, dead. (We got started on the first encounter and the GM seems to be... absent... for a week or so now.)

If that game dies, I'll be submitting an exploiter wizard (updated from the character I was hoping to play there).

If not, probably a rogue or ranger.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Buzzard, were you part of the previous version of this?

no

Okay so here is what we have so far:

Already having seats:
DrBuzzard-Fighter(ranged combatant)
Seth86-Cerenity-Summoner(returning player)

Proposed Characters:
Nate Lange-Fighter
Jesse Heining-Wizard or rogue or ranger depending
Marigold Hazeman-Bloodrager
Nikolaus de'Shade-Oracle of the Dark Tapestry

Undecided:
CaptainFord
GM Aarvid
Tharasiph
Demon Lurking

For those who dotted this and are undecided we need skill classes. I'm thinking bard/rogue/investigator would be good for this. Someone that won't jump right into battle but won't shy away from support either if needed.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Baldric would be sort of a secondary-skills guy... He'd have 7 skills per level before any items. If there's a wizard there might be overlap because some of them would be knowledges.

Any ruling on variant multiclassing?

I'd like to submit a spellcaster. Is pre-game crafting on a bonded item allowed?

I'm not familiar with it? What book is it in?

Yes

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Drawbacks? Are they allowed or not?

I'm not a huge fan but if used tastefully I'd allow them.

Variant Multi-classing is from Pathfinder Unchained.

Alright then. With that in mind, I guess it's time to roll up Marigold's HP.

HP Rolls:
11 Levels of Bloodrager: 11d10 + 22 ⇒ (2, 4, 10, 1, 9, 7, 4, 2, 4, 2, 2) + 22 = 69

Annnd that's below average by about 13 HP. Taking the average of 82 instead.

Thanks and sure I'll allow it seems like a fair trade off.

Cool- when I originally built him Unchained wasn't out, so I'll have to look over the options again but I may pick up something from an Int related class (like magus or bard... maybe alchemist, depending on what they get...)

I have this character, lvl 12, but I can step her back a lvl. I'll be putting her on my new sheet layout at some point anyway. She is a weretigress.

If not her, I'll make a character from scratch, in which case, would word casting be allowed?

Proposing a dwarven ranger if all slots are not already filled. Looks like an interesting mix.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I like the magus variant multiclassing but I'm curious about their 11th level ability... They gain the ability to use spellstrike with spells on the magus spell list, but I wouldn't be a caster at all... Would I be able to use it with spells from wands and/or scrolls or is it a completely wasted ability?

I'd like to try a naga type character, like Kin from the Goblins comic. The only PF thing I can find though is not even close.

Anyone know of listing for it in PF?

Silver Crusade

hp: 10d10 ⇒ (5, 10, 4, 3, 10, 4, 8, 9, 8, 4) = 65

Lvl 11 Pally .. let's see if I can get him built before the end.

HP: 10d8 ⇒ (6, 4, 8, 7, 8, 3, 1, 4, 7, 5) = 53

Silver Crusade

Also howabout item construction for standard items is that permitted?

Working up a human Investigator (possibly with variant multi-classing into bard).

HP die rolls:

HP: 10d8 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3, 2, 8, 3, 7, 8, 1) = 42
So, if I'm understanding DM Mathers, that should work out as follows:
(6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 8, 5, 7, 8, 5) = 59 + 8 = 67 before Con modifiers.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My submission will be a half-orc slayer with trapfinding.

hit points: 10d10 ⇒ (5, 1, 8, 9, 4, 5, 6, 7, 4, 6) = 55

Exactly average.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Wow... So much melee...

10d10 ⇒ (9, 4, 8, 3, 9, 1, 7, 2, 10, 10) = 63
is the below average clause based on the total (like marigold did) or each die (like DL asked about)?

We are a mix =^^=

HP: 10d10 ⇒ (4, 10, 1, 7, 1, 6, 3, 5, 2, 7) = 46 under average, will use average.

I believe the "roll vs average" choice is per lvl rather than total. That is my understanding anyway.

i still have a bunch of overhauling/updating to do, but here's my submission-in-progress. rather than fool around with the spellstrike stuff i took variant multiclassing with Bard (which seems to complement lore warden pretty well)- for inspire courage/confidence I'm picturing the flavor being that he's giving advice (his only perform skill is oratory).

i saw that there was at least one other person contemplating VMC[bard]... if spellstrike would work with scrolls/wands (or if you'd let me just take another arcana instead of spellstrike) i'd gladly switch over to VMC[magus] instead. i'd just have to tweak my skills some.

No I'm not allowing word casting but your original character would be fine.

I'm not sure on Paizo's official ruling and I do see that as an issue so I think how I'm going to run it(though this might be game breaking so don't abuse it) is allow it to work with wands/scrolls. If you channel a spell from a scroll through your weapon then the scroll is spent. If you use it with a wand one of the wands charges is spent. I think thats fair.

Tharasiph wrote:

Yes but crafting time will be somewhat limited because of where the party will be in the story. You will only have 1-2 weeks tops before you will need all the items you can get your hands on *evil DM laugh*
