Baldric was born in Magnimar, the third child of Felton and Tara Moore. His father, who'd grown up down in the Shore, ran a successful shipping business and the family lived comfortably in the Grand Arch district of the Summit. His mother was a kind and caring Varisian woman who had been orphaned as a child and raised by Koya Mvashti in Sandpoint.
From a young age Baldric showed a great deal of athleticism and strength, and when he reached the age that most merchant boys started apprenticeships his father instead sent him to the small but prestigious Academy of Thassilonian Military Arts. Ionatali was a clever boy and a graceful fighter, though he couldn't match Baldric's strength. The two became fast friends and whether training or getting into trouble they were always together. Neither boy was very well spoken and sometimes the others would grow annoyed with them, but they were both fairly well natured and it never took too long for the annoyance to pass.

Such positions were the most common outcome of such an education, in fact Ionatali took just such a position with a nobleman from Korvosa. Baldric, however, was in no hurry to take on longterm employment and since leaving the school has been living in a boarding house down in the Shore and taking freelance work as a bodyguard or extra security for merchants in town.
When one of the merchants he was serving mentioned heading to Sandpoint for the Swallowtail festival, he offered to stay on as security during the journey in exchange for a seat on the wagon and food and drink on the way. The merchant accepted and now Baldric Moore finds himself in Sandpoint, free to enjoy the festival, and to see what opportunities for fortune and glory presented themselves after that...
