Assumed I would be last probably as I was lowering folks down, tho Jabbik has no objection to going down earlier, now his boar is down

Looking at Felkin, Would you need to go down last to free the beast? OR is it something your vulture friend will do?

Inactive

Figure it makes the most sense for someone with Climb or decent Strength to go last, simply for safety, and that's definitely not me. I'll go down whenever.

Felkin shakes his head, somewhat exasperated.

OK Felkin will go next. He doesn't need to stay. Lowering him down

"About time," Ariso murmurs as he sees Jabbik start to make his way down.

Male Human Wizard 1

Is it just me or did we forget something? Wait the griffon! Meh boring animal anyway.

There's also two masterwork short swords and a buckler no one wanted, I guess. I'll be nice and say Nabbit grabbed the water and food that was left.

Before Jabbik takes the spider rope, the sounds of drums echo up from far below. A goblin stands alone on the desert floor, bearing a polearm with an end shaped like a giant scorpion's stinger. The goblin stares up at you. The drums beat faster. The goblin raises the polearm over its head and yells. At the drums' crescendo, a dozen goblins rise from the sands and begin swarming up the slugs' colossal body toward your perch on the shelf mushroom.

Perhaps it's the drums or the steep angle, but Jabbik's grip fails and he goes tumbling down the slug's side toward the shelf mushroom where the rest of you are crowded.

The goblin flips down the side, avoiding the larger obstacles on the slope but getting badly shaken nonetheless before coming to a stop on the soft surface of the shelf mushroom.

Jabbik takes 6 lethal damage and 7 nonlethal damage from the fall.

The goblins are 160 feet below you, climbing up. You are on the west side of the slug, with various skin pockets to climb or jump (or fall) to. Please give me an initiative roll.

I was under the impression that Jabbik was last- you're all on the shelf mushroom.

And Vinter's bow is miles away where the Skincrawler abducted him.

M Goblin 1 Cavalier

I figured since Jabbik would be the only one who needed a climb check, I just go with lowering everyone so we would move along. Tho rolling a 2 and falling and going to 0 hps was not in the plan. At least he made Vinter's day.

Ariso's initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Olivia's initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Current initiative track and actions as they're understood.

Asopus- 10 (magic missile goblin)
Olivia- 7
Meira- 5 (Freezes, panics)
Felkin- 4

If the Goblin are several dozen feet below the landing which is several feet below me, adding up to a distance of well over 100 feet, I'm not sure there's much I can do beyond still helping to lower people, or delaying my action until they get closer.

Is it possible to rip hunks of the peeling slug skin off and chuck it at the goblins?

As I said above, Jabbik was the last lowered. You are all on the shelf mushroom, the goblins 160 feet below and climbing up.

Olivia Forgeborn wrote:

Yes, you can peel off fist-sized chunks of pliant slug flesh and chuck it at them as improvised weapons.

Perception check, DC 18:

Spoiler:
More goblins are pouring out of burrows in the sand below the vast slug-like creature. Some are scrambling for ranged weapons and setting up a firing line.

Oh I hadn't realised we were skipping time.

Ecko peers down at the approaching goblins. "Too bad we hadn't a way to bring the boiling meat with us." He says grimly. While they're still too far away to shoot, he pulls his gun out anyway, nervously looking around.

Round 1

While the Dust Diggers begin their ascent, Ariso invokes a prayer to Loki and mends the brave Jabbik's wounds. Jabbik healed for 3 lethal and nonlethal damage, is no longer disabled.

Ecko pulls a clay vial from his satchel (which Nabbit was too scared to handle, fortunately for everyone) and throws it down toward the rising goblins. Unfortunately, the combustible concoction's trajectory dips early, missing the goblins by several yards.

Jabbik gets himself up and entreats Felkin for the most likely escape. Ashkharak's priest responds in goblin: "The East side- we jump down to tentacle bridge and cross to great Ashkharak! My warriors will give us safety- I can help you better if you cut me loose!", the goblin says, holding up his bound wrists. Bloodypaws grunts irritably at the heights, but remains steadfastly beside his master.
You are currently on the West side of Gorthogga- you will have to cross the North and/or South sides and descend sixty feet of titanic slug to reach the described bridge.

Vinter looks down into the leering faces of the hated goblins, feeling a great lump of fury seeing himself once more surrounded by the scum. Unfortunately, no easy way down or away presents itself to his keen eyes.

The Dust Digger goblins make steady progress, climbing the side of the slug with surprising ease. The goblins have advanced 10 feet this round- they are 150 feet below you. More of the bastards run to and fro below, whipped into shape by the polearm wielding leader.

Asopus passes his hands in a pattern through the air, muttering arcane phrases. A dart of pure force flies unerringly down the slug's hide and strikes one of the Dust Diggers squarely. The goblin yelps as much in surprise as in pain and you can all see him tumble down from Gorthogga's side to the desert floor below. 11 goblins are climbing, more to come.

Olivia tears off two handfuls of Gorthogga's sunburnt flesh, flinging them down at the goblins below. Unfortunately, the disgusting makeshift projectiles fall well short of the mark- though it seems the goblins are much more angry now. So that's something?

Meira shrieks hysterically. "OH GODS, DELIVER US! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!", she screams. Felkin presses his point with Jabbik, eagerly entreating him in Goblin.
"The infidels want to kill me as much as they want to kill you and take the others' soft pink skins! Cut me loose and we can help each other better!", he jabbers.

"Don't trust him for a second!", Nabbit shouts. "He'll cut our throats the second it's convenient!" The gnome looks over the South side of the shelf mushroom.
"Only one way to go...", he says before carefully lowering himself down the slug's side toward the first skin pocket.

Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Surprisingly, Nabbit manages quite well. He reaches the first skin pocket ten feet below on the south side. "It's not too bad!", he calls up. "C'mon, we can do this!"

Round 2 actions, please.
Skin pockets can be reached either through a climb check or a deliberate jump using acrobatics. Other creative solutions will of course be considered.

Ariso turns to Meira, and starts up a swift cascade of words, (hopefully) cutting through her hysterical wailing. "Hey now, Miss Meira, enough of that - look at me now, look at me - we've got the god-touched warrioress Olivia Forgeborn to strike down the wicked beasts, we've Vinter the Furious, who delights in nothing more than ripping goblins apart by hand - we'll be fine."

Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Horrible! Let's hope her Wis bonus is 0...

If Meira seems to be responding to his words, Ariso gently leads her to where Nabbit jumped own to the next level - although not too close to the edge!

Male Human Wizard 1

Asopus gets his sling ready to hurl at the nearest climbing goblin, but waits for them to get a little closer.

Readying action to wait for the goblins to get about 10 ft closer then firing.

Seeing that her aim with fleshy hunks of snail hide isn't so great, Olivia readies an action, ready to intercept the charge of the goblins, spear in hands.

M Goblin 1 Cavalier

Male Human Spelless Ranger

Vinter clenches his teeth in rage and frustration. If I had my bow it would be a different story.

Take 10 to climb down.

I will have the round update tomorrow night.

Disappointed to see his bomb not hit, Ecko checks his supplies, noting that it doesn't matter how many he still has if they can't escape this. Hoping to slow down the approaching goblins, he throws a second bomb at them.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 (5 Splash Damage)

Round 2
There's actually a maximum of 5 range increments on ranged attacks- meaning that Ecko's bombs can go a maximum of 100 feet at a -8 penalty- and the goblins are 150 feet away. I will hold his action so you can consider an alternative.

Ariso does his best to calm the hysterical Meira, but the young lady sinks to her knees sobbing. Apparently it's not going so well...

Jabbik ignores Felkin's pleas for freedom and urges the reluctant Bloodypaws to climb toward the skin pockets. He has the push the boar a bit to make the climb-
Bloodypaws' climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
But the grumpy boar manages to clamber across the steep and rippled side of the great beast and crowd into Nabbit's skin pocket.
"That's something you don't see every day...", the gnome says.

Vinter spares the Dust Diggers one last stink-eye before adroitly climbing down Gorthogga's side to pile into the skin pocket shared by Jabbik, Bloodypaws and Nabbit. You can see the thick skin starting to tear at the edges from all the weight...

The Dust Diggers continue climbing toward you, cruel knives held in their teeth. A line is formed below- ten more goblins preparing crossbows while the one with the polearm exhorts them in their barbaric language.
Dust Diggers are now 140 feet away.

Asopus looses a sling stone at the climbing goblins.
Asopus' sling attack w/range penalty: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 21d4 ⇒ 1
But the stone flies loose in a much wider arc, sailing off into the desert.

Olivia stands on the edge of the shelf mushroom, spear ready for the tide of goblins while Meira falls into hysterics.
"You don't believe that! They're-they're going to kill us and wear our skin! In that order, if we're lucky! Agggh!!", she sobs.

Felkin mutters darkly to himself when Jabbik turns his back on the priest. The goblin runs over the north side of the shelf mushroom, dropping off the edge.

Nabbit extricates himself from the tangle of boar, goblin and man, attempting to move over to the next skin pocket.
Nabbit's climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
The gnome with the bright hair gets a strong start... until his foot slips and throws him off balance. Fumbling, he grabs the edge of the skin pocket and clings for dear life.

Dust Digger goblins are 140 feet below the shelf mushroom on the west side. Nabbit, Jabbik and Bloodypaws and Vinter are on the south side, climbing (or jumping or falling) toward the east side where the tentacle bridge lies 60 feet down. Ecko, Ariso, Olivia, Asopus and Meira are on the shelf mushroom and Felkin just jumped over the north side.

Olivia sees the crossbow line forming ahead of her. "Um, that's not good." Olivia looks Ariso, then at Meira. "I'm thinking a retreat is in order. Follow that boar!" Olivia will sling Meira over her shoulder and make a b-line for the edge.
CMB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 If needed to scoop up Meira.

Oh right, Range increments.

Deciding that throwing a bomb isn't the best course of action, Ecko moves to follow the others as they climb an escape.

Round 2

Ecko grasps the edge of the rubbery shelf mushroom to lower himself toward the skin pockets- but the fungus crumbles under his claws and his stomach lurches as he falls. Fortunately, quick reflexes and the fact that he was so close to the slug's side end up saving him- the huginn slides neatly into a skin pocket five feet below, rattled but unharmed.

"Thanks friend," Ariso smiles at Olivia as she takes Miera in hand. He then looks down at the shelf below. "Loki save me," Ariso mutters as he jumps down.

I'll keep fleeing with the others. This is a bit tough without a map.

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 15

I will do my best to have a map for the next bit. And since everyone is fleeing now, I feel like it's best if we try to get some momentum going again and gloss over the chase with the goblins in a paragraph, picking up on the makeshift tentacle bridge. My apologies once more that things have dragged.

As the troop of goblins climb inexorably up the side of vast Gorthogga and crossbow bolts rain down into the titanic creature's flesh, the survivors of the Skincrawler's larder climb, jump and tumble between the pockets. With Jabbik and Bloodypaws uneasily skittering across in the lead and the hysterical Meira slung over Olivia's shoulder, the pursuit across the slug's southern side to reach the tentacle bridge is a panicked blur. Nonetheless, you finally reach it with only some minor bruises to show for it.

One hundred feet above the desert, the slug's intestine-like tentacle creates a bridge to a complex of stacked shacks lashed to its flayed rival, 60 ft. away. A squat wooden tunnel lines the top of the tentacle, and a 4 foot tall, crooked doorway provides access to the 3 foot wide interior. The tunnel stretches the entire distance, except for the center, where two goblin corpses, seemingly fallen from the sky , have partially crushed it. Presently four winged, cat-sized rats pick rotten flesh from the corpses.

Female Aasimar Paladin 1 [HP 12/12] [AC 17. T 11. FF 16] [F+4 R+1 W+0] Init+1 Per+2 D.Vision

"That tunnel looks a little too small to get through, though I'm not sure I want to risk walking along it's roof at this height" Olivia sets Meira down. "Stay here Meira. I can see pretty well in the dark, so I'm going to look in the doorway, see what's ahead of us before we make any decisions. Anyone care to back me up?"

With the exception of the winged rats, there doesn't seem to be anything alive in the tunnel. Light peeks in through holes and gaps in the slats, and the entire thing is lashed precariously to the tentacle with lengths of rope.

Behind you, the shouts of pursuing goblins grow closer...

Female Aasimar Paladin 1 [HP 12/12] [AC 17. T 11. FF 16] [F+4 R+1 W+0] Init+1 Per+2 D.Vision

"Looks like the tunnel is clear, lets head through this way." Olivia stoops down and squeezes through the door, spear held pointy end forward.

Male Human Wizard 1

Asopus follows Olivia as she squeezes through the doorway.

"Well better inside than outside with those goblins chasing us."
