Then Jabbik Looks for his flail....

Asopus Seekerstone wrote:

"What in the name of the gods is going on here?!? I thought we were just in the mountains, but this thing is ALIVE!"

Asopus quickly rushes back from the ledge and moves over towards the gnome and collects himself for a moment before asking

"Could we use that griffon or vulture as a way to get down?"

If he could hear what the gnome said.

[dice=perception] 1d20

"Were all of the other creatures here when you got here or did the arrive separately? If they did arrive separately, did the woman arrive with that spider?"

"You all got carried here separately- I think the spider's just a spider. I guess someone could ride it or something, but it might be tempting disaster.", Nabbit says.

"Could we use that griffon or vulture as a way to get down?"

Olivia nods in agreement. "If the griffon can be roused, it seems to be our best bet off of this thing.

Though perhaps we've missed something. Has anyone found any hatches or doors?" Olivia asks the room in general, "There may be some other way out of here that could lead to a ladder or bridge.

There doesn't seem to be much else in the room, besides a broken catapult and several heavy balls of munitions made from some kind of lizard skin. But the shelter itself isn't exactly a quality construction- you could likely bust a new exit across the slug's head and look for some other way down.

Ecko wrote:

'Weeks?' Ecko thought. 'Can it really have been that long?' He shook his head, looking at the gnome with a sense of respect. He simply nods in understanding and says "Much obliged" before opening the drawer to get his pistol.

Assuming there's nothing else in there... Ecko picks up the weapon and inspects it closely, making sure it hasn't been damaged or tampered with. Anyone looking would have no idea at all what he's checking for, since the thing looks battered to hell. It's the kind of weapon that just screams "stand back, because I may explode".

Satisfied with the state of it, Ecko holsters it and moves to see what the others are looking at, and becomes noticeably shaken by the view. He looks down at his arms and makes that same clucking sound, though in obvious despair, at the hilarious twist of fate that his people have come so far from simply being birds, and yet have lost something terribly important along the way.

He collapses onto the floor, nearly landing onto one of the goblin corpses as he does so.

You find your pistol in the top drawer of the chest, the others remaining closed pending further exploration.

Jabbik StinkBreath wrote:

Unfortunately, it's nowhere to be seen. You remember the dragon swooping in on you and BloodyPaws and swinging your weapon at it's face with all your might. But once the spider swarm engulfed you, it must have fallen from your grasp somewhere miles away.

Ariso tears himself away fom the disheartening view and approaches the gnome. He fixes him with a firm gaze. "So, why did we suddenly become freed from the paralysis? There must be a reason. It seems we may need the griffon's help to escape, and I'm not leaving the girl to rot here, or be eaten if the beast ever returns. Tell us what you know, and of course we'll help you escape. Play games with us, and by Loki, you can wait here for your master to return."

hmm my flail doesn't seem to be here....I wonder if its over there where the bird is? And heads over to the chest to see what else is in there

Male Human Wizard 1

"Well the spider is not a pet so I think it is time to do the prudent thing"

Asopus walks over to the spider and pulls out his dagger. He takes the creature in one hand and stabs quickly into its throat with the dagger hopefully ending it quickly and painlessly.

Well with that done better go see to the vulture and whatever that dead goblin had.

Asopus walks towards the vulture staying a fair distance away. He looks back at the fellows over by the ledge and asks.

"There is a dead goblin over here and it seems to have something on its arm, but this Lovely vulture appears to be guarding it. Would someone be willing to help me with it?"

M Goblin 1 Cavalier

ITs just a vulture...kick it away, they are only interested in easy meals.

Well that goblin looks like a knowledgeable fellow when it comes to animals, so why not?

Asopus moves towards the bird carefully and attempts to scare it away with threating sounds and gestures.

So many posts while I slumber.

Ecko mutters a curse, blaming the mages for the state of things. There weren't gigantic interdimensional slugs roaming around before they started messing with the world.

After a few more moments of despairing, he stands back up and looks to the others. "Whenever you're done killing or frightening the lesser creatures, we should take stock of our equipment. Maybe we can find a way to scale down the sides of this... thing."

Man, I didn't take Glide, I didn't buy rope or a grappling hook. I could not be less prepared for this.

The second drawer is empty, alas. But the third and fourth contain odd devices- a long tube of glass with brass filigree. Within the glass there is a serious of thin wires and a cistern-like thing filled with a bright blue liquid. There is a glove and two leather straps attached to each tube.

Ecko considers the vulture's movements, then speaks to those trying to intimidate it. "That bird won't move unless you kill it." He considers for a moment. "Strange that it seems to be unaffected by whatever happened."

Moving slowly and cocking his head from side to side, he approaches the vulture. While he's certain that it's accustomed to hearing goblin spoken, it's a language that Ecko doesn't know, so he does his best to speak to the creature using a combination of Tengu / Huginn’s Speech and... general... bird noises?

The flat-worm covered buzzard cocks it's head at you, perplexed by your actions.

Ecko:

Spoiler:
From your knowledge of birds and the natural world, this vulture thing is certainly not entirely of this world; it's likely to be something more akin to a familiar- though a tainted and nightmarish one.

At the very least you manage to convey that you aren't hostile, so it leaves you alone for the time being.

You can see the the goblin has several stoppered clay flasks in a leather sling around its belt, a smaller vessel like the type used to hold ingredients for alchemical experiments (or snuff), several dried mushrooms and various tooth and bone trophies.

Yes, it seems that the glove goes on your hand and the glass baton section sits on the forearm, secured by straps.

Asopus/anyone with a Knowledge- Arcana check above 15 examining the contents of the drawers:

Spoiler:
These are Vril technology- creations of the Ankeshelians, the first human civilization to rival the elves in power. You believe they're known as "lightning batons"- with some simple finger motions on the hand within the glove, one can manipulate the electrolyte liquid in the baton to discharge electricity. A successful ranged touch attack deals 1d4 points of electricity damage to a target up to 120 feet away and expends 1 charge- there are currently 12 charges in each baton and they look to be half full. Critical hits apply.

In fact, one can also delay discharge for a time by holding certain finger positions for up to 24 seconds, building toward an ever-more powerful singe-bolt release. The wearer would have to keep a steady hand against the force of the weapon, though. And if one were desperate, the fingers could be glued or secured into position to fashion something like an explosive charge.

The boar is paralyzed, and seems to be alive.

"She's the big scaly one at the end. Different mothers, you know, but she's very sweet.", the gnome replies. He clears his throat. "Sorry. Not the time for sarcasm. She was taken as a slave by the goblins before the dragon moved in. She must be somewhere below.... please, if you're going down that way... I know you don't owe me anything, but I need to find her. The name "Dust Diggers" sounds somewhat familiar, but you can't recall anything off the top of your head.

At the base of the western wall, a missing board offers a view down the back of the slug's head. Forty feet down a smooth 70-degree slope, a large shelf mushroom forms a roughly 5 x 10 ft. landing. Below that, the slug's sun-cracked skin peels downward in a multitude of sheets, forming a lattice of scales appearing climbable.

With just a bit of work, you knock out enough space for a man of your size to crawl through.

There's nothing new to find- all told, you see:

- two masterwork short swords (medium) mounted to the wall flanking a buckler painted with the likeness of slug.
- a cracked light catapult, missing its throwing arm.
- ten sand-filled lizardskin catapult balls, each weighing about 100 pounds.
- the contents of the chest.
- pot of fresh water (about 3 days' of water for four medium creatures)
- Boiling pot of horse flesh and dragon bile (about 3 days of food for four medium creatures; it's pretty gross, but it'll keep someone alive)

How many more do we have the means to raise? Certainly we need to save Jabbik's boar, and I'd really like to wake up that other goblin, too. And obviously the Griffon might be our best chance of escape.

Something has been troubling Ecko and he walks slowly over to the dragon creature.

A variety of checks. Does it seem as though the spider-silk tying the dragon's mouth closed came from the spider here? Does the dragon seem as though he's actually paralyzed? Because why would a paralyzed dragon need to have its mouth tied? I am interested enough in this thing to possibly risk trying to revive it. Unless I really, really shouldn't.
