Akio bows his head in respect to the opponent. Then speaks a small rite.
Anata no seishin wa heiwa ni nokosu koto ga dekiru

Spoiler:
may your sprirt leave in peace.

He shakes his head, death was never a good thing, and yet, sometimes people cannot be reasoned with. He looks to the others, tips his head then waves.

salve ! qui requirat animam meam de equo.

translation from latin:
hello!... Uh, well he hurt my horse.

The friar will bend down bless the body of the dead man and then look to see who has been hurt.

I believe that the Archbishop and perhaps even the Holy Father would be interested in this happening. Perhaps the body should be gathered for evidence. God's blessings. as he checks for wounds.

Akio Derick Ryuu, FireSkorn, Fray Manuel, and Jimeno Diaz each receive 1,200 XP for slaying the satanic assassin.... Well done, heroes!

After he checks on the people being hurt we will lead them to the place where the wounded Archbishop is and will try to get an audience with Cardinal Borgia.

An audience with Cardinal Borgia is quickly granted to the heroes who thwarted the assassination by poisoned dagger of Archbishop of Toledo....

The Borgia cardinal blesses all those present, and thanks the heroes who thwarted the assassination of the archbishop of Toledo warmly....

In Latin: Praise and thanks be to God that these young Samaritans were willing to intercede on behalf of our blessed Archbishop of Toledo.... You have done God's work, today, young heroes.... And you shall have God's healing and rewards....

When all wounded are gathered within 30 feet of the cardinal, including the archbishop of Toledo, Akio-San's steed, and any wounded PCs, Cardinal Borgia channels God's healing energy, restoring 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 4) = 10 hit points....

Jimeno looks up at from the dead body of the assassin to the foreign stranger atop of his horse.

Speaking in Latin, seeing as Akio is able to speak it as well.

Jimeno looks up with a frown at the man in strnage armour and clothing, that still speaks Latin.

"Greetings sir, I thank you for your aid. The assassin tried to kill the bishop from my home country. You look like you're not from here, though you speak their tongue, would you tell me from whence you came?"

As he stands he extends a hand.
"I am Jimeno Díaz de Vivar, from Spain, Catalonia to be precise."

As reward for saving the Archbishop of Toledo from assassination, each PC receives from the Vatican a gift worth up to 1,250 gp in value.... Choose wisely! ;)

I am akio, akio ryuu from japan, though my friends from this land call me derick for some reason that escapes me. Yes, I come from a land far far to the east. one of the first of my people to enter your lands, leading a trade caravan, I encountered many people on my trip and had them train me in many languages, I I'm fluent in what you call, Latin, French, English, Italian, and Spanish, well, fluent for the most part. And of course, my native tounge, Japanese.

Akio gives a bow towards you.

Akio smiles at the bishop, and bows deeply
Yes, I hear that in your religion there are those so knowledgeable of your god that you can perform wondrous miracles, perhaps one day, I shall experience these. For now, I ask only for something to aid me in my daily quest, something to strengthen my body, and help protect me from the magical workings of those of less than pure purpose. Would you by chance happen to have a cloak with these properties your bishop? mt old cloak is quite tattered. I also would like to thank you for tending to my horse, he has been a good companion, and I hope to keep it so for many more years.

also, mr. monk, if you have nothing you really want... better saves are always nice. assuming you cant, say, ask for the gold piece equivalent.

Jimeno bows deeply as well before the cardinal.
"It has been my pleasure cardinal. It is simply my duty to keep men of the faith safe from harm. Your blessings are a good enough of a reward for me."

He does look up though as Akio mentions a cloak that shelters one from more harm.
"I beg your pardon cardinal, but if what Akio Ryuu says is true, I might be able to put such a cloak to good use as well. Certainly when I escort Bishop Alonso Tostado back home."

Kissing the ring of the cardinal, he bows and thanks Cardinal Borgia for his generosity. I am thinking that his cloak can be the black cape that the Dominicans wear as part of their habit

He turn to the assembled group and introduces himself. I apologize for my rudeness and not introducing myself sooner. I am Fray Manuel Jose of the Order of St. Dominic. I am arrived from Avila a few weeks ago and have been assigned as the theologian to Cardinal Borgia. God must surely have been with us to keep the evil from attacking more of the Servants of God in this holy place.

You shall each have a fine cloak, imbued with the divine protection of the Holy Spirit, to guard your lives as you have guarded the life of our blessed Archbishop of Toledo! That is, unless you desire a different gift.... Speak it, and if it be in our power to grant, it shall be thine....

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

Those who take a cloak of resistance +1, with your balance of 250 gp, can take the change in gold, or in potions (50 gp per level 1 pot, etc), or a combination.... You can basically have any combination of items or treasure equaling 1,250 gp in value....

hm, 3 potions of CLW, and the rest in change.

If I may be so bold sir, perhaps some healing water? and a small bit of coin so I can find a place to stay, while my caravan begins to sell its goods?

Akio asks, as he receives the cloak.

Fray Manuel pores over scrolls, letters, testaments, and folios kept in the vaulted chambers of the Vatican, searching for meaning in this violence, and discovers evidence of a heresy.... A Satanic cult within the Church that seeks to undermine the laws of God in favor of the Devil.... These cultists may have even called the great wyrm Conflagratius down from Mercury to sow the seeds of the Devil among mankind!

M Human cleric (cloistered cleric, evangelist, theologian) of Dominican 2 AC 13, touch 11, flat-footed 12 (+2 armor, +1 Dex) hp 15 (2d8+1) Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +6

Does the information say where they might be located?

M Human unchained monk 8/paladin 6

The information suggests that there are miles of passageways and chambers riddling the stone below the seven hills of Rome and the surrounding countryside, and that the cult maintains at least three secret temples within these catacombs....

Cardinal Borgia considers each of the four heroes shrewdly for a moment, then offers them a chance to win further favors and rewards from the Church....

In Latin:
Doughty stalwarts, you may have heard rumor of the traffic of evil, rapacious creatures of the underworld going to Mt Vesuvius to pledge allegiance to the fire dragon.... My informants assure me of the veracity of this claim, and have reported evidence of merchant caravans massacred on the roads between the cities of Italia.... If you brave ones would take up sword and cross against these monsters, you could earn much glory and favor in God's service, and fill your purses with coin and jewels for your troubles.... The Holy Father has decreed a bounty of 10 gold florins to be paid for every head of an Orc, bugbear, goblin, or hobgoblin brought to the Vatican treasury....

In Latin: Of course, any assistance you can give in tracking down the secret lairs of these villainous devil-worshippers will also earn you treasures, both earthly and heavenly....

After reading the information in the Vatican Library the young friar returns to the Cardinal's audience room and reports what he has found to Cardinal Borgia and the group. Your Eminence, the information I was able to find in the Vatican Libary suggests that there are miles of passageways and chambers riddling the stone below the seven hills of Rome and the surrounding countryside that the cult maintains at least three secret temples within these catacombs.

In Latin:

Yes, good Fray Manuel Jose.... Your readings have lead you down the same path that mine have led me.... But the exact location of the blasphemous temples where those unholy black masses are held remains a secret unknown even to the wisest among us....

"I am also at your disposal Cardinale. If my life and skills can help us in ridding this land of evil, so I will."

With that said, Jimeno looks towards the monk that had just helped them hold back the assassin.

Strange, isn't he what some would call a hoboblin himself? Why is he so eager to partake in a hunt on his kin.

He shakes his head to blank his thoughts and then continues.
"Cardinale, it seems the cultists are an important problem, but difficult to locate. Are there more indications about the lairs of these orcs and goblins that you know of? Travellers who are attacked on the roads or villages ransacked?"

It is known that these tribes of orcs and goblinkind have dwelt in cavernous lairs under the Alps for time immemorial.... But reports indicate that several tribes have abandoned their ancestral lairs to march down to Mt Vesuvius, where they are delving new lairs in the foothills of the ancient volcano.... And some tribes still on the march simply make camp wherever the morning light finds them, for they are creatures of night and darkness, and slumber by day....

It seems you have two paths you can traverse, young stalwarts: exploration of the catacombs beneath Rome to discover the location of the devil-worshippers, or an expedition to the foothills of Mt Vesuvius to strike at the orcs and goblinkind.... Either course will serve the Church, my friends....
