Wasn't expecting it to be killed with the channel, but I know I was trying to interfere with and try to distract from Djora.
Thinking about it, I really should have used a searing light spell. :(
Oh well, hindsight is 50-50.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

As the Bracers of Armour are not going to Stack with the Armour that Liera has, my suggestion is that they go to Anga.
Any issues by anyone ??

Leira |

That seems good to me!

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Just as a thought experiment, I was wondering if we should hire a groom, and buy a couple of watch dogs along with another mule.
This way, we have someone who can keep an eye out on the mule while we deal with problems, and at night, we will have something other than us to help with keeping an eye out.
Neither of which will require a lot of investment, as we can stress to the groom that the only thing he has to do is keep the animals in good health, and do his best to stay out of the line of fire. :)
Yes, we would have to provide equipment to protect him initially, but beyond that, so long as we try keep him clear of any fights, it becomes something a little less to worry about.
Debates, counter ideas, suggestions, concerns ???

That is an interesting idea. Sounds like someone could take the leadership feat and get some followers.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Followers to me, imply combat NPC's with PC levels.
I was thinking hirelings, Makes it both easier for Mazra to control, and not worry about sn additional PC style character in the fight.
I was thinking someone to keep an eye out on stuff, but at the same time, fighting is not in their job description, unless you wanted to get a couple of armsmen to look out after our camp while we sleep, and our gear while we crawl through dungeons.
This is more to keep our pack mule out of combat, but have it available to carry stuff. :)
Edit:
Energy Drain (Su) This attack saps a living opponent’s vital energy and happens automatically when a melee or ranged attack hits. Each successful energy drain bestows one or more negative levels (the creature’s description specifies how many).
If an attack that includes an energy drain scores a critical hit, it bestows twice the listed number of negative levels. Unless otherwise specified in the creature’s description, a draining creature gains
5 temporary hit points for each negative level it bestows on an opponent. These temporary hit points last for a maximum of 1 hour. Negative levels remain until 24 hours have passed or until they are removed with a spell, such as restoration.
If a negative level is not removed before 24 hours have passed, the affected creature must attempt a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 draining creature’s racial HD + draining creature’s Cha modifier; the exact
DC is given in the creature’s descriptive text). On a success, the negative level goes away with no harm to the creature. On a failure, the negative level becomes permanent. A separate saving throw is required for each negative level.
GM, as I just looked this up, I will change what I am doing
and hit Kaos with 1 and Djora with 3 Restorations, which is all the 4th Level spells that I can do. for the day, and the blank I have available.
This will leave each of them needing to do 1 save, which I will give them both the protective ability prior to them making the save. (+2)

Cool sounds good just seems like there should be a spell that could help with this. Like being able to store stuff in a picture or some pocket dimension. But that stuff may be out of reach at this point. Hireling does sound like a good idea. If you can find someone that wants to trek after us and trys to just stay out of the the reach of anything that may want to eat him or her.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

There are probably a lot of magical items that could help with this but I was thinking of a lower cost route.
Lets see what the others think about this.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

No red shirt, but maybe some red armour.
As for his rules, he just has to look after the animals, not really fight anything. :)
So if a dragon pops up, I dont expect him to fight it. just hide from it.
As for the restoration, that means that they are clear after the morning.
ok. I thought it was 1 per level drained (original / 2e ad&d)
Gm, This is why I thought it was 1 temp level per casting.
Restoration, Greater:
School conjuration (healing); Level cleric 7
Components V, S, M (diamond dust 5,000 gp)
This spell functions like lesser restoration, except that it dispels all
permanent and temporary negative levels afflicting the healed
creature. Greater restoration also dispels all magical effects
penalizing the creature’s abilities, cures all temporary ability
damage, and restores all points permanently drained from all ability
scores. It also eliminates fatigue and exhaustion, and removes all
forms of insanity, confusion, and similar mental effects.

GM Mazra |

Yeah. It is confusing. The written language is truly an art. Again from the Restoration spell. This spell functions like lesser restoration, except that it also dispels temporary negative levels or one permanent negative level. The use of the word "one" is key in the rule to distinguish between temporary and permanent negative levels. However, if they had added the word "all" or a specific amount before temporary, it would have been much clearer. And, we wouldn't need this conversation. So, my interpretation is that the regular Restoration will heal all Temporary Negative levels, and Greater Restoration will heal both all Temporary, and without the word "or", Permanent Negative levels. Of course, with 5000gp worth of diamond dust.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I have seen it argued the other way in that it removes 1 temp level per casting.
Glad that we could keep it civil, and clarify how it is going to be here.

Ragnir Brightaxe |

After hosptitals and funeral, I should be back either tomorrow or Monday and able to post again.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Not to much that I can say.
I am sorry for your loss, and wish you a better year from this point.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Got tied up this weekend. Sorry I was not on.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Got a few things coming up. If I tie thing up to log, feel free to bot.
Seems I am now only getting a lot of time to post when I am at work.
plus not really liking the new layout. :(

Anga Runedaughter |

hey heads up. We are having bad weather here, floods and such. Posting may be sprodratic. Please bot me if needed.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

In other issues.
I don't want to say this, but
It has been a month since Ragnir has been on.
I would ask that we GM him until we get to a town, but I think that
there has been enough time given.
Thinking that we try to find someone to fill in after we to town.
This will make it easier on the GM.

Leira |

It is 2 months since his last post in Gameplay. Given his last post I think he might be going through a hell :(
He might come back once he recovers the strength to have hobbies once again. For that reason I would prefer if we keep going without recruiting for a while. I think we should be fine.
We can charge Ragnir for now with protecting the pony to save Mazra from having to bot him.

Anga Runedaughter |

Wow, you go away for a while and everything changes.
Well, after huge amounts of rain, lightning and thunder, and my car getting wreaked by a guy who decided he didn't need to look, I'm back. Sorry for the delay.

Anga Runedaughter |

I was surprised and shocked but no injury to me or my daughter, who was also in the car. The car was wreaked. Now I have to find a new(ish) car to buy, once i can get the money. Sigh, more expenses.

Leira |

I am happy to learn you are ok Anga. Is the other car's insurance not paying for your expenses?

Anga Runedaughter |

Oh, yes, but the write off value for my 13 year old car was only a few thousand or so. I need to get more cash. Finance here I come.

It kind of sucks having to replace a vehicle, and glad that you are all right.
But I have always been of the opinion that it is easier to replace steel and plastic than have to worry about injuries and deaths.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haven't had a chance to fully peruse it.
Been a little bit busy.

Leira |

I was shocked at first, but I am starting to get intrigued by some of the proposed changes.
I just wish it is transparent to play old APs with the new system, otherwise I do not think I will switch for a long time.
With the few time I have now for roleplaying I really do not have much desire to learn a new system. I hope most of the long time memorized concepts remain same.

Anga Runedaughter |

The changes seem to be to skills (proficiencies vs ranks), feats seem to have changed, and actions have really changed. Instead of the usual actions (free, immediate, swift, move, standard and full) you get three actions a round. An attack is a action, so up to three attacks a round? And spells can take several actions to cast, depending on how many components the spell has (somatic, material, vocal).
So you could, in one round move, cast shield and hit someone.
Of course this is from a first look, so i may be in error.
Worst part is buying all the books. Again. Well, I'm sticking to PDF from now on i think.

It's fun trying new editions. But there does come a point where you need to pick one and stick. Or go broke buying every new book that comes out.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I am only concentrating on the PDF's.
You don't loose a collection due to misplaced boxes, or water damage.
Plus it is a hell of a lot lighter to carry. :)
