I'm wondering if Ialda should also take the buckler and the amulet of false life? None of those items seem particularly well-suited for Baolo. He definitely will be shopping for arrows and depending on the gold situation, perhaps some upgrades to equipment.

Lucendar |

Okay Baolo, let me address your questions:
1. Sure, up the roll to 5 from 2nd level and add a hp.
2. To be honest, I've recently had experience with die roll changing abilities and while great for RL games, they don't translate well into PbP. Here's been my experience: I roll a possible crit against a player, I confirm it, do damage and move on. Other players then go, reacting to post, and heal wounded player for example. Player with ability then posts and tells me to re-roll crit as an immediate action (b/c obviously he's seen the confirmation/damage/etc. all in the post) and now I have to redo post and players who reacted to initial post have to redo actions and it gets messy. Other option would be to roll critical, stop, alert player and see if he wants to use ability, but that slows the posting to a standstill. Thus, I would appreciate if you selected another archetype, if possible, to avoid these types of abilities. Please feel free to make any backward changes to your character if I've somehow screwed up your idea of the character by not allowing this archetype. Hope you understand, it's just messy in PbP.
3. Bow in hand is sufficient, as long as you have access to arrows. This immediate action is fine to use because it falls on the players to use and does not rewind time.

Baolo |

1. Thanks!
2. Honestly I was mostly planning on it for aggression. So, let me throw out the possibility of removing the two more problematic variations. If not, I'll just rework the plan.
3. Cool. It's actually even more likely to come up if I go back to being a straight up inquisitor since solo tactics makes that an even stronger ability.

Baolo |

This will be a lengthy post in Baolo speak, but I'll try to get it up later tonight from real computer if someone else doesn't beat me to it.
I think we should clean up with prestidigitation if anyone has it, take Chez and Kowaru's bodies up and then with Livinia, alert the central authorities, not the local ones Rowyna bribed. Baolo should not go to the authorities because of the discrimination in Eleder. The papers we confiscated should be very helpful.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Looking at Sacred Council instead for Aeronniell's level 3 revelation. I rather enjoy the RP potential with that and having Chesley and Kowaru on her spiritual council.
Her skill ranks were:
+4 Oracle +2 Int = 6 Total
+3 Acrobatics
+1 Know Geography
+1 Know Local
+1 Perception

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

@Baolo: Great find with the teamwork feat.
Based on my notes, it looks like at one point I was considering Mystic Theurge (I know!) for Aeronniell, hence the fact she has a 15 Int as an Oracle.
Not sure if that path still calls given the fact I hadn't thought about it since April or May 2012.

Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper |

Yep...that's what my updated sheet shows. This might be my last barbarian level, depending on what happens inthe future, so I had to be sure I could still get my rage on!
I have a half-orc 2-handed fighter planned to replace Chez. I didn't want to steal Ialda's thunder though. But if you are not planning to take any more barbarian levels, then I think all should be good.

Gruug |

A burly and scarred half-orc, wearing tattered clothes and bearing many curved blades, tacks up a notice on a bulletin board at a nearby inn.
"Gruug, luuk'n for wurk. Tuff with Swordz!!! Nuu in tow'n. Stay'n at this In."

Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper |

DM: For now I have kitted him out with just basic gear and gave him a +1 weapon and masterwork armor. Aside from that, I am just planning to start him out with 10sp. I know you mentioned that you are going to try to keep his wealth level equal to the group's, so please let me know if you need me to make any adjustments.

Kor - Orc Scrollkeeper |

Yeah, I think you're right about the rapier. Maybe Aero needs to take it up in his honor. Gruug looks like fun!
I was looking forward to inundating Kowaru with "What should I do now boss" questions. Sadly with his passing that will not be possible. However, in Gruug's eyes, Ialda is a warrior and green-skinned, so obviously she must be a half-orc, and the one in charge. I guess she will suffice as Gruug's boss :)

Kowaru |

Aw, sucks that's how this all shook out.
And I haven't stuck with this game just to bow out when my character died! Let's see what we have now...
Cleric/Fighter
Barbarian/Sorcerer
Inquisitor
Oracle
Sorcerer
Looks like we need a skill monkey. I'm already playing a rogue in another game. Bard sounds rather attractive. Let me see what I can come up with for that.

Baolo |

Don't forget that I get a ton of skill points as an inquisitor too and I'll definitely be investing in Knowledge skills because of Monster Lore. But, I think a bard would still be quite welcome for a little more arcane support and that buffing that Lucendar is going to compensate for :(

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Aero, why is your perception +8/+11 as listed on your profile? What am I missing?
It's +11 when she can see the night sky.
(which thus far has been almost never)
This is from the guiding star revelation she has to take at 1st level for the stargazer archetype.
Actually, it looks like it should only be +10 since her Charisma is only 15 (with a +2 modifier). That's possibly an ancient relic from 2012 then. I haven't updated that summary line properly yet (as evidenced by the 14HP).

Having now looked at everyone's equipment and even taking into account the 1000 gp they just got, I think it would be in better balance if instead Gruug's falchion is Masterwork, and his armor is +1. (Meaning that he starts with a 1000gp magic item instead of a 2000gp one).
But if you have a different idea in mind, just let me know. (I've never liked it when replacement characters start being better equipped than characters who have been fighting in the trenches longer... and lived).

Baolo |

Oops originally posted in the Gameplay thread. Think I deleted it in time
- Chain shirt +1 for sure to Ialda
- One of us ought to take the potion of cure moderate wounds. Probably Ialda since she is most likely to be in a spot where she needs it.
- The potion of gaseous form seems like something we should keep. Maybe Xarethi? It has great utility for situations like our lovely capture in the tunnels previously.
- The wand of knock also has great utility, especially in a group like ours with no rogue.
- All the others I'm willing to sell or give to whoever thinks they can make good use of.

Ialda Soumral |

22 posts since I went to bed last night! Impressive.
Kor, I am fine with another front liner in the group. Don't worry about stealing my thunder. Bash away!
A bard is an interesting addition as well. We need a face type character. Diplomacy is always good.
You other three "originals" decide how you want the gear distributed. I'm fine with it either way...just let me know the official consensus.

Baolo |

Tentative sell/purchase list for comment/approval
1. Sell composite longbow +1 strength (100 gp) unless Aero wants it in which case I'll give to her)
2. Buy masterwork composite longbow +1 strength (500 gp)
I will also be buying ammunition. Are you ok if Baolo has several different types of ammo to draw from? Some that I am considering are: alchemical silver, cold iron, raining (holy water), slow burn, smoke, and thistle. The first two normally can only be bought in batches of 50 (so I might split them with Aero). The others are normally bought as single arrows. I'll list what he buys once I know how you want to handle ammo.

Lucendar |

Baolo, I am fine with your purchases and the arrows are fine, as long as you plan on staying in town for the next week, since some of the special arrows may have to be manufactured/ordered, depending on quantity. But this is the part of the module where you are supposed to relax and take time off to enjoy the spoils of the previous adventure, so it should not be a problem.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

Aero will absolutely split arrows with Baolo.
She also is interested in better arming herself for the hunt against Vanthus, especially after repeat run-ins with exotic creatures.
Her list was simpler - just cold iron, silver and holy/raining and thistle. :)
She would like to first purchase a masterwork composite longbow (+1 Str) so her first 500g she spends will go there.
Baolo should sell his old bow. Aeronniell will sell her old longbow (original value 75g, sold value 37.5g) and old leather armor (orig 10g, sold value 5g), netting her another 42.5g.
This brings her coins, prior to any proceeds from sales to 223.5g.

Baolo |

@Aero: All right, so cold iron and silver make sense for you and I to split so we each get 25 arrows and pay half cost. Make sense? If you need me to cover you so you can make some purchases, I will.
1. Silver arrows: You pay 51 gp. I pay 51 gp 5 sp. 25 each.
2. Cold Iron: I thought these were more expensive, but looks like you pay 2 gp 5 sp and I pay 2 gp, 5 sp.
Raining and thistle are bought as single arrows.

Aeronniell Ithilwen |

No problem on the arrows.
I figure we should just split them since they come in that kind of quantity.
In fact, I'm tempted to just take 10 or so of each and leave the rest at Lavinia's until later.
It will likely depend on how far this cove is though.

Baolo |

New purchasing question since the cash is a little higher than originally planned. Are you ok with the Adaptive enchantment from Ultimate Equipment? That's a straight 1000 gp. If I put it on a +0 masterwork composite longbow the item will cost 1400 gp, but will have the benefit of handling my +1 strength now, the +2 I hope to get to at 4th level, and will also benefit from strength enhancements from spells, magic, etc. down the road.
