Popped in to keep up on the reading...
Would you guys mind if I eventually recorded, and wrote a book based on all this?
You guys are amazing RPers. Not only the tremendous (and well informed) argument in the parlour, but the juxtaposition of it by the joyous chatter in the garden. I'm loving this!
I'll be back to a computer tomorrow night, and I'll be able to update my side of things.
For the time, assume that the princess is trending to her other guests, but is in the garden. As for the parlor, Varian has accompanied Val, and is listening to the conversation intently, but not speaking.

Valignatir |

For this game, even before I knew I was selected, I basically read everything I could get my hands on that dealt with any aspect of Taldor and Cheliax.
History, population, government, relations with other nations, military strength, expansions, current imperial holdings, everything.
I would like to reiterate just how excited I am to be playing in this game, and simply cannot wait until we get started with the real juicy stuff!
Edit: as to a book, I would absolutely love to read a book based on the events as they currently stand. What we are going to accomplish eventually? Would certainly be worth reading.
So, no, I have no problem with you using anything I provide in any book or recording you may publish.

GM Leviathan |

Ok... Back in town. Will be posting an update tonight. Thank you guys for being awesome enough to carry on without me for a minute.
I hate camping, btw. I'm always the one doing all the work. This time I went up for a single night to find no one had cut any fire wood, so I spent the whole time I was up there cutting dead trees to size, then splitting then. Then my brother in some brain damaged scheme took 2 of the 3 days worth of cut wood, and used it up to "make the fire bigger".

On the other hand...

GM Leviathan |

Hey Guys!
Crazy weekend! first the suprise camping trip, then when I return, my computer magically contracted a virus that doxed me!
Anyways, Now that I've given my computer the largest dose of penicillin (It went out this weekend and met with some "Computers of the night" I suppose...Stupid computer syphilis!) I'm reading and trying to put a post up.
For the record, there are like 30 posts since my last update, so its taking me a while to address all of them.
I also Text the GM from our other game, and haven't received a response, so I'm not sure what's up there. I know he was dealing with the whole retraining his brain thing, and then there were some personal issues that popped up during that, then I think he has/had finals somewhere in there too.

GM Leviathan |

Holy wall of text! it's posted, and its only for the ladies! lol!
Also, Kyra, I wasn't quite done when you posted half hour ago... there is more.

GM Leviathan |

Oh! My! God!
I went back and looked at it. I'm so sorry for that, but this is the RP of the game, not the hack and slash. lol.

![]() |

That was a great speech, GM! I'll have a response up as soon as I can!

Don't worry, Lady Gabrielle will protect her!
Also, I really like how the Princess was referring get to herself I the third person there. Very royal.

Nev Atropa |

I was immediately struck with a deul scenario similar to Game of Thrones. In which Nev wins, doesn't kill the person because she likely wouldn't in the first place but probably can't win against the ego anyway, and gets killed by the defeated man when she turns her back.

GM Leviathan |

Lol! You still have your hands of the sword doesn't allow itself to kill, but you'll have to keep in mind that the soul in the sword "prefers" not to kill, but would be willing to in a situation similar to that.
I wanted very much to convey the idea that the princess is proper in public at all times, but also that she doesn't always enjoy having to remember to speak "as the people" the way her position demands... I want her to be a real person, not just an empty figure-head for the country.

GM Leviathan |

Also, thank you. All of that was completely improv as of last night... Please forgive any spelling issues, it was a huge piece for a post. Lol! I really had no intention of continuing the party past the conversation with Val.

Valignatir |

Well, I do believe the conversation we were having is basically done, barring actual arguments.
I am fine with moving on to the next few days.
Also, when are the actual solstices/equinoxes?
There's a holiday that Val will be heading back to Egorian to celebrate on those days, and you had the Princess hold her part before the solstice, so I thought it'd be appropriate to ask when they were.

GM Leviathan |

For the record... The story takes place before the even tongued crusades, so patinella was actually Taldan. She was just far off Taldan.
But yes, technically she's Chelish.

![]() |

That's the idea. Lady Gabrielle knows that the finest performances stir the emotions of the audience. Logic often has nothing to do with it.
The idea I am thinking of involves Gabrielle and Kyra taking a classic opera about this story and emphasize a few bits of history that may have drifted away over time. By casting Princess Calista as the victim of Lady Pattinella's foul seduction, the hope is to get the topic of the origins of the female inheritance law into the minds of the elite, and get them talking about it.
And of course, there would be the duets that Gabrielle was wondering about earlier in the evening. This performance naturally requires two talented female leads. How convenient.

![]() |

Well, since the historical account has Lady Patinella not actually being a priest of Shelyn, I think we are good there!

GM Leviathan |

Clairification: she was a priest, just not a virgin-bound priestess.

![]() |

Oh... well, that makes Lady Gabrielle's plan a bit less straightforward...

Lord "Inkwell" Rook |

Actually, yeah, as the devilry expert, is there anything that would satisfy such a purpose (and be willing to help out)? Succubi have an unfortunate tendency to kill everyone they seduce, but I feel like Asmodeus's clergy would be into 1920s-era mafia tactics like the honeytrap.

Valignatir |

Well, technically, succubi are demons. And much more into corruption by just destroying things.
However, I can actually summon Succubi with Summon 6, as the spell is Chaotic, but my Infiltrator level allows me to cast spells not of my deities alignment.
So, I could get us one succubi for two minutes, which is more than enough to level drain any noble opponent we wish with a few kisses or such.
Edit: actually read the question. If I command it not to kill the subject, it will not, as I would have complete control over it. Most of the common devils are combat beasts, although I could get us some Planar Allies in, which with further research on my part, may solve that particular problem.

Lord "Inkwell" Rook |

Yeah, Plannar Ally would be what it's all about. Just, y'know, party alignment stuff; the LG characters want to fix the country with songs and morality plays, the LE character wants a war and assassination, and the LN character prefers creating political scandals.
(Also, one day I will get to tell all the great stories I came up with about the various assassination attempts against Lord Rook).

GM Leviathan |

So... Are you guys done in the parlor? I feel like it's kind of the "fade to black" end of episode 1 time at this point. I really don't have anything else, story wise, lest you guys give a push my way. I feel like this "episode" has been wonderful character development, and revealing as to who your characters are and what they are motivated by.

GM Leviathan |

There are still 3 potentials to hear from in the parlor itself, being Conny, Rook, and Kyra's guard (who would be bound to leave only when she did)
Per any continuing conversation: please to the best of your abilities, wrap it up ASAP, without loss of story integrity.
In the meantime, if your character has retired from the episode/scene, please continue to check in daily until we get the rest resolved, and we will quickly get to the next episode.
ALSO: at this point, I am considering your estate to be finalized. I will calculate your gains myself and report them as appropriate for the passage of time between this episode and the next. After I give you the relevant information regarding your estate, you may use those resources in the allotted time. this should appear as a quick blurb about what you've been doing during the downtime between scenes given as ooc info on the first post of the second episode, please.

Lord "Inkwell" Rook |

Lord Rook is trying to take a nap, but this keeps getting interrupted by people saying things he disagrees with and feels the need to Old Man Lecture at. Ready to move on when everyone else is.

GM Leviathan |

Damn whipper-snappers!
It's totally fine if he really falls asleep, and his doctor guides the chair out politely... It is long past his typical "old man" bed time. Lol.

GM Leviathan |

I do feel that Lex would be more privy to the princess's disgust at the idea of a war at all. Being that she'd have likely asked him more strategically inclined questions, him being so close to her and a skilled military man himself.
Keep in mind when playing Lex that he is also more inclined to know and keep her secrets.., like the fact that she is incredibly persuasive, but that also comes with the ability to Appear to want something she doesn't when the desire would suit her cause.
In this case, support from Karthis to present the movement would be paramount, so she would have to Appear to be giving him something he wanted. That doesn't mean funding doesn't somehow "fizzle" in the larger scope of the empire's accountants.
She is, after all the only queen in a game of chess played by Hundreds, if not thousands of people... I feel like Lex would specifically know this, in particular, to be true.

Lady Kyra Rubicon |

Oh I figured that. Lex is more concerned about Valignatir and whatever the heck this Chelaxian Cleric of Asmodeus is scheming to get his crush embroiled in (oops did I say crush? ignore that Lexarius is definitely not pining after his liege at all!). Of course he has his own ideas about where the Empire should be going as well.
And of course, Kyra isn't really in the loop so it looks even worse to her.
Is that something I should coordinate with you over PMs in the future?

GM Leviathan |

Hmmm... An angle I didn't think of...
I'll PM you regarding Lex's knowledge of Val, though, as Her guard-captain, is oathbound to keep that to himself... and I kind of are his regiment of guards superior at keeping their mouths shut too, as part of the job description.

GM Leviathan |

And to wrap up that long-@ss PM...
"For the glory of Taldor!" would be precisely the reason she'd focus on Val's situation before things in Mendev.
Though, if this next scene plays well, you all may have a hand in a lot of big things that Happen throughout Avistan!

Ser Constantine Rook |

Internet here is broke. Will hopefully be up tonight. Do not wait! Use flexible time and just move on since its just one wrap up.

GM Leviathan |

Alright, will be moving on this afternoon.
