Selene backs up to allow room for a jump attempt, but not so far as to not still discuss the best course of action. "Be careful, there may be more triggers beyond that one."

Enev backs up and tries to jump the plate following Essa, he puts a lot of strenght in his legs to lift his armor protecting his body.

Essa will approach the door. She will examine it closely and then look at it to see how it is opened.

"Roguk stay back there. Make sure he doesn't walk on the plate."


As Essa tries the door, she realises it isn't even locked. A simple push and it will open.

Roguk paces into the corridor, letting a plaintive oooook? out, as Essa goes farther from him

"Hey everyone, this door is not locked."

Essa throws the door open.


Will update the map tonight, Essa, but here what you see.

One half of this lofty chamber has a lowered floor, with stairs on either side to reach the bottom.
Standing opposite the door is a tall wooden statue of Kassen grasping a gigantic wooden shield in each hand. One of the shields is inscribed with the word “home,” while the other reads “family.”

"Hey guys, there is a big statue of Kassen in here. He has two shields."

Are we on the upper or lower part of the room entering?


You are on the upper part of the room, there are two descending stairs leading to the lower part of the room, where the wooden statue stands.

Takeshi looks to Tane
Well, we should go too, Tane. Do you need help, Malya?

Selene enters the room marveling at the size of the statue. "How'd you suppose they got that in here? She brushes a stray lock from her brow as she looks around the room before moving to investigate the door on the far end.

Tane moves down to the pressure plate and asks, "Where do I need to jump?"

Confused, he takes a step on to the pressure plate and attempts to jump too late.

"Tane-!" Enev tries to warn Tane just as he steps on the plate,

Oh my... Selene and Enev are in the room, Essa and Roguk in the last part of the corridor, Malya and Takeshi in the first part

As soon as Tane steps on the plate, the two statues on his flanks lower their long swords brutally

Longsword trap1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 5

Longsword trap2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Fortunatly, only one of them hit the warrior, and it's a minor wound. Tane -2 HP

DC 8 Int check, Malya: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
DC 8 Int check, Takeshi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Neither Malya or Takeshi were dumb enough to stay near the wrapped blades in the first part of the corridor, so they are unscathed.

01-50 Essa, Roguk 51-100: 1d100 ⇒ 45
Essa was pushing her animal companion towards the statue room, when Tane makes his mistake. Unfortunatly, she was the one near the statue...

Checking the map, Tane would logically have needed the square after the trap to be free to land after his jump, leaving the two last squares for Essa&Roguk, one of these two with the armed statues.

Longsword trap3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 3

Longsword trap4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Both swords cut the druidess flesh, one leaving a big gash on her ribs Essa -10 Hp

The sword remains lowered, and if you only risk to bump yourself into the wrapped blades in the first part of the corridor, the last four blades are sharp, and covered with your friends blood.

You'll need a DC 10 acrobatic check to get through the blades (don't forget your Armor penalty), or take 1d4 damage. Tane must do one check, Takeshi/ Malya 2

Tane curses when he sets the events into action. He grinds his teeth and grunts as he is injured and says, "I, uh, think I missed the plate. Everyone ok?"

He then is just barely able to make it through without cutting himself once again. He exhales loudly, "WHEW! That was, uh, unfortunate."

A quick glance at Essa's injuries and Tane sucks in his breath, "Essa! Are you alright? That looks terrible! Oh man, I'm sorry!"

Tane smacks his forehead with his palm. He turns to Selene, "Selene! Can you fix her?"

1d20 + 3 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 3 = 11

Essa grimaces in pain and gives Tane a bit of a scowl wishing he paid more attention to things. This sort of thing has caused problems before. She thinks, but doesn't say anything.

"Don't waste your spells on me, I will be fine."

She limps into the room ahead and makes sure Roguk is ok.

Enev runs towards Essa and checks his wounds,

"Oh my! Please Erastil give me your power so I can heal her wounds..." Enev begins a pray and focus his energy on his hands above the wound.

Mayla cursed. Now it made it even harder. Looking at the blades she looked to see if she could crawl under them but seeing a pattern she figured she could make her way through.

Weaving through the blades she would make it into the room with a sigh. "Hmm, we need to figure out how to disable such things." Maybe she should talk to someone in town to teach one of them. Looking around the room she spotted the shields.

"Didn't Roldore talk about needing the shields..." Thinking back on the other room she grinned. "OH! We could use them for that big trap on the other room. Well I think its a trap with all the arrows. We could use the shields to protect us."

Takeshi follows Malya, who seems to know where to walk... he whispers playfully to the blonde mage

Tane looks to Enev and regards, "Thanks for fixing her up. Right. Good point Malya. I'll go grab one."

Tane walks to the top of the eastern stops and stops, looking back at the group for approval. "That is, if everyone is ok that. I don't want to trip on another plate or something on the steps and get anyone else hurt."


What a suspeense..Will Tane manage to get a big shield without endangering everyone again? You will know when I'll be able to log on..^^

She would stay where she was for now looking around the room and casts detect magic sweeping the room.

Still soured by Tane's previous clumsiness, Essa fully expects the place to come down around their ears at Tane's next attempt.

The wooden statue has a strong magic aura

Tane begins to descend the stairs, while everyone waits with bated breath

Mayla stepped forward concentrating on the aura.

"Here, let me assist you Malya.." Takeshi says helpful, trying to keep away the unwanted stimuli that magic could bring and distract her.

The statue glows with Transmutation magic, the aura is of moderate power, way more powerful than yours. Nothing else in the room seems magical

Tane freezes when Malya says there is magic involved.

Malya wrote:

The fighter nods twice with a total look of confusion while trying to seem confident. "Right. Tranzmagication magic. That's what I was thinking too. Ok, so. Wait. Two of us? Who else is getting the other shield?"

As soon as Enev and Tane are in the lower part of the room, the wood statue moves, leaving its pedestal.

A small "click" is heard, and the stairs they just used turns into slides.

Selene:
It's a wood golem! A powerful mindless creature made of wood (obviously) and animated by great magic. Your draconic blood boils as you realise how much it might be helful to guard your hoard.. if you had an hoard and were a dragon, of course.

Perception, Enev: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Perception, Tane: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18

Enev&Tane:
As the massive wood statue turn its head to look at you, you notice a small keyhole in the middle of its back.

The statue rises its massive shields, ready to bash the warrior duo into oblivion

Takeshi steps forward and aims his bow, shooting an arrow, while starting to whistle a song that will inspire bravery and heroism in his companions.

Mayla sees it come to life and drops her detect magic. It was made of wood so she wondered if it could burn and called upon her fire magics. Stepping to the ledge she would judge the distance to see if her 15 cone could hit it.

She aimed the cone to strike the top of the wooden creature while going over the heads of her friends and leave them unscathed.

Burning Hands: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7


Ref save vs Burning hands: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The big creature's head is wrapped in flames from Malya's hands. Small residual flames surround its "skull", for a few seconds it seems as if the wood statue as hair made of fire.

Takeshi's arrow hits the target, but seems to have little or no effect.

"It has a small hole in his back, we have any spare keys?" Enev shouts to his companions thinking maybe that way they can deactivate the golem, meanwhile he will hit it with his sword,

Selene thinks twice before jumping down the slide and decides to throw a javelin at the tall statue instead.
