One goblin slowly moves towards Enev, rising his filthy sickle
Takeshi's arrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2
And taking an arrow in the shoulder for his troubles, courtesy of Takeshi. The daft creature puts down his weapon to seize the arrow's shaft with both hands and breaks it
The goblin Enev tried to strike tries to capitalise on whatever distraction the young paladin might be in
thrown chakram: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
but eats a chakram from Ah Mera. Unfortunatly, the goblin is still alive, and wants to get some revenge
Trying to attack Enev: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 2 = 17
dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Had Enev not entangled himself, he wouldn't have been hit. But his clumsy moves didn't help. It's only a scratch..for now.
Enev, as the Goblins, is now Entangled (-4 to Dex, -2 to hit)
Most goblins try to move towards the tower, the farthest one- who wasn't caught in the spell- charging with a battlecry, another, nearest the side of the tower, more stealthily.
arrow from the tower: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
The charging goblin get an arrow in his throat, and fall on the ground
you saw that, Groyshna, I got it this time!
Malya Vardigan
Mayla heas her brother's voice and feels relief go through her. Then determination. They would not get to her brother. She completed the spell targeting the three clumped together on the right.
DM Lil" Eschie
Initiative rolls, cause Selene is right, I forgot.
Ah Mera: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Takeshi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Selene1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Selene2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Malya: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Essa: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Rogurk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Goblins: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
NPCs: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
order:
Selene, Ah Mera, Malya and Rogurk
Goblins
Takeshi, Essa and NPCs
Selene Vosmus
Selene (Critical hits initiative) moves up and tries to crush the entanlged goblin pest...
Morningstar!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage!: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 CRUNCH!
DM Lil" Eschie
ooops, forgot Enev Initiative, sorry reduced Dex Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20. So Enev can act before the two goblins threatening him
GoblinA will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
GoblinB will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
GoblinC will save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Two of the three goblins aimed by Malya's spell decides it's time for a little nap, leaving one standing
Selene just gives another goblin a reason for a definitive nap. Bones and blood fly everywhere
Essa and Rogurk stay cautious and don't involve themselves in melee yet
Ah Mera throws another chakram
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
and the weapon strike true, killing one of the two goblins threatening Enev, as the second one just picked up his sickle
Essa Dwae
Essa can hurl a sling stone at one of the goblins. She reminds everyone that the entangle is still in effect and should be quite visible as the entire forest floor is a writhing mass of foliage.
sling attack: 1d20 ⇒ 1
"Woops, well I never was good with the sling."
Takeshi Kitano
Takeshi is back baby!! ^^
..
And now waiting by the sidelines for his initiative :)
DM Lil" Eschie
Enev kills the goblin who attacked him, and who was previously wounded by Takeshi's arrow.
Another tries to get out of the entanglement spell, and nearly succeed.
The stealthy goblin keep progressing toward the end of the wall, slowly
one last goblin is still alive and walking, and let his two comrades snoring in the high grass
Takeshi&Essa can do whatever they want. Bless spell 2/10 rd
Takeshi Kitano
Takeshi moves up to the halfling, and starts explaining how he should place his feet as to get unstuck.
"No, like that. No, more... Left!! Other left. Listen, if you just.. No. Just no!"
Not sure if I can "aid" a reflex save or something, to get him out more easily?
If that's not an option, simply roll an attack roll for me :p
DM Lil" Eschie
I will allow Takeshi a DC 10 Charisma roll to Aid Eev's save.
The goblin who nearly manages to get out of the entanglement sees Rogurk and Essa, grins stupidly, and tries to tip toe back inside the vines, feeling perhaps more secure.
You all hear voices from the tower
I have no more arrows... How many goblins are still there?
I don't know, and I don't care. Maybe I should throw you to the goblins Fadj, so you can get a closer look while I run away?
NO! Please, Groyshna... We should throw Nabu instead, he doesn't breath that much anymore... That wound is nasty...
Essa Dwae
Essa advises the group she can dismiss the entangle as needed and are not bound to wait out the entire duration of the spell. If the group wants to proceed to the tower quicker or advance on the few remaining goblins.
Malya Vardigan
"Don't you dare touch him Groyshna! Or Nabu for that matter! I will personally burn you alive if you do anything to hurt them. There are three goblins still up two asleep."
Mayla will move quickly to go around the entangle with Salene. (Double move)
DM Lil" Eschie
An hoarse voice answers Malya
who's this? It can't be...
Then another voice, that she knows well
it's my sister, Malya! Maybe she came to save us, Groyshna! Hey, we're here!
The half orc
To save us? Are you so sure, Fadj, after what happened? If your sister is there, maybe the others are here too.. Let's get rid of those goblins first!
The goblins now realise that they are in a dangerous position, between an hammer and the anvil, as a dwarf would say. Stuck into the entangle spell that limits their movement, with most of their fellows dead, out numbered and outmatched, their will to fight melt quicker than ice under a fireball. Two or three people trapped into a crumbling tower were not much trouble, but now ...
The goblin try to escape the entangling spell, wanting to put as much distance as possible between them and the two groups.
Takeshi Kitano
Takeshi will continue to help the little one, before nodding at Essa to make the spell disappear.
"Let 'em run, they are cowards." he simply states.
Essa Dwae
Essa pauses a moment and dispels the entangle spell, while Roguk menaces the goblins.
"He will rip you in two and eat your brains if you don't get out of here!" Essa says to the goblin, not sure if it understands her.
DM Lil" Eschie
The three goblins that are still awake run away, leaving their two last fellows still sleeping... and some moral problems for our young adventurers.
Fadj and Groyshna are still hiding inside the partially crumbled tower. Suddenly the half orc calls
Is Enev here?
A Dc 15 Sense motive could help you finding what is his mood
Enev Faborn
Enev trying to remove the entangle that was dissapearing with the help of Takeshi, pauses when he hears the orc's voice...
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"No, he is not here." The halfling answers and stares at Takeshi with a Did I just said that out loud? face.
Malya Vardigan
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Her focus was getting to them and she called out. "I am approaching. I want to see how the three of you are faring."
There was genuine concern in her voice. She worried about her brother a lot but even the other two. She may want to strangle all three of them but they were still from her village.
She started to make her way toward the tower.
Essa Dwae
Now that they were finally here, Essa held back a bit. She wasn't sure what sort of flood of emotions would come to her once she saw Fadj and Groyshna. She wasn't sure what Roguk would do either. She slowly made her way with the others but stays in back and keeps an eye on Roguk. She keeps her club handy, hefting it purposefully back and forth.
Selene Vosmus
With the enemy in retreat is the situation still stressful enough to be combatish? Curious if Selene can talk in normal tongue.
Selene takes a moment to address the moral issues with a heavy handed morningstar to the head of one of the goblins.
Coup de grace: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 = 8 Goblin must make a DC18 fortitude save or die
She takes a step towards the other goblin and will do the same on her next action.
Coup de grace: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1) + 4 = 11 Goblin must make a DC21 fortitude save or die
DM Lil" Eschie
coup de grace1 DC 18: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
coup de grace2 DC 21: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Well, I'll rule that Selene will still talk in her strange langage for 1 round, until she calms down a little.
While Selene takes "care" of the sleepy goblins, bashing their skulls in,
now they are "sleepy hollowed" ^^
the rest of the group cautiously approach the tower. Soon Malya and Essa see Fadj and Groyshna, tired, obviously wounded and covered in a mix of gore and mud, inside.
But they don't see the third member of their little group so far.
Fadj tries to smile a feeble smile when he sees his sister. the young man seems to be the shadow of his former, confident self.
Groyshna looks defiant and tense, his battle axe hold firmly in front of him.
Neither of the two dare to break the silence
Malya Vardigan
Malya looks at the two of them not letting the silence stand. "Where is Nabu?" She asked first her eyes meeting Groyshna and he can tell she wouldn't attack him but wouldn't take anything from him anyways. She was angry, her face showing it as she let the peaceful mask she normally wore was gone.
"We can't tend to your wounds if you intend on fighting us. Stand down Groyshna. I want to hear your side of the story before accusation get thrown out."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Enev Faborn
"You have a lot to explain..." Enev asks with an angry tone on his voice, he stills guards a distance between them keeping his sword and shield ready, Groyshna could have a bad reaction at them.
DM Lil" Eschie
Groyshna is stil tense, and answers with a part growl
I know only the Vardigans are a treacherous folk. I've seen one real close for a few days... So don't be mad at me if I stay careful, pretty face.
Turning to Enev, the half orc eyes widens suddenly
Yeah, I guess so. It has been a long trek... I know you, Enev. You know me. I don't like you, you don't like me, but I know I can trust you.
He lowers his weapon.. a little
Nabu is hurt. Badly. Neither of us can heal him. The goblins are gone, for now, but they might come back who know when. If one of you can do something for Nabu, say it now, or else I'll put an end to his misery.
Meanwhile, Fadj fearfully sneaks into the conversation, blinking madly
Is that you Malya? Is that really you?
The young man has a bloody face, and some cuts on his legs. Groyshna is even more in bad shape, but manages to stand still despite the obvious pain.
Near Essa, Rogurk is baring his teeth when Fadj gets out of the tower. His body tense, and the druidess knows her ape is ready to attack
Essa can do a Handle animal check, DC 15, adding her druid level as a bonus. If she misses by 5 or less, she can retry next round, if she misses by more, Rogurk acts by instincts
Essa Dwae
Essa tries to control Roguk. Handle Animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 "Roguk DOWN."
"Fadj, Roguk doesn't like the axe you threw at him. Come to think of it I can't say I like you much either, given that you have always been a bully. I am having a hard time controlling him, so before he tears your arms off, you may wish to back off for a bit."
Essa will try the same, by trying to distract Roguk with some food or play. She tries to move him back outside. "You will answer for your deed though. You and Groysh have both caused a lot of trouble."
Malya Vardigan
Hearing his words she stared at her brother and then Groyshna. "If I was truly treacherous I would fry you where you stand. My nature it to be protective not treacherous."
Looking to her brother she nodded. "It is indeed me Fadj, I came to bring you back home."
Looking at Essa her eyes narrow slightly but she can understand the creatures anger. She held the ax after all. .
"Let us in to tend wounds and hear your tale. If Nabu is really that bad then we may need to rest for the night and the longer you hold out the more Nabu suffers. Fadj, get back as Essa says."
Selene Vosmus
Groyshna, we are not the enemy so lower your weapon.
Selene barks as she joins in.
The game is up, and you have this last chance to not make things worse for yourself. It is not too late to make this right.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Takeshi Kitano
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Takeshi sees Essa having a hard time distracting the ape hard enough, and joins in. He takes out his flute, and starts whistling extremely loud, in order to try and keep his mind focussed on him.
Listen to me, my fury friend. Music can calm the wildest of beasts..
DM Lil" Eschie
With the help of sooting music and some offered food, Essa and Takeshi manage to calm down Rogurk. Fadj hiding hilself into the tower helped too. He seems really afraid of the ape and Essa
Groyshna waste no time before lowering his axe, after Selene words. he shows Nabu, slumped into a corner of the tower. The shaft of an arrow is stikin out of his belly, and he has lost some blood
He's there. A goblin got him.
The big half orc looks at Enev. He seems exhausted after the fury of the battle left him.
We screwed it big time.
is all he can say
Malya Vardigan
Mayla looks at her brother and then would finally take a deep breath letting her nerves calm. She wasn't much for healing so she nodded at Selene knowing she would be better equipped.
"Who is taking watch?" She asked even as she started walking to her brother. This wasn't a talk she was looking forward to but it would have to come.
"Fadj, tell me what happened. I want the truth. No lies."
She stated calmly looking at him.
DM Lil" Eschie
Groyshna let Enev get to Nabu
Enev sees the mage his struggling for his life: he has lost a lot of blood, but the wound doesn't bleed anymore.
He's at -4 Hp
Fadj his really nervous, looking afraid of Groyshna
He has done it, sis... that's the truth.
Essa Dwae
"Thank you Takeshi."
Essa will stay outside and take watch. She searches deep inside herself and isn't sure she can deal with the discussion going on inside. All this time and tracking and fighting goblins and here they had finally caught up to the others. Essa wasn't sure what to do now. The others were better at talking. She stood in the shadows of the foliage outside the tower idly watching Roguk dig for grubs under some broken masonry. She was covered in dirt, mud, blood and her hair was matted and twisted with briars and leaves and pine needles. She kicked at a pebble with her toe and kept an eye on the forest, her club wrapped to cover the everburning flames. She kept somewhat concealed and watched from behind a large piece of stone. Who knew if the goblins would return with an even larger band.
"Takeshi, we should keep an eye on the woods."
Selene Vosmus
Selene shifts her morningstar to her shield arm's hand and moves to look over Nabu while trying to get a feel of what is happening beneath the battered and near beaten party's appearance.
sense motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
By the divines Nabu, I'm amazed you're even conscious. Selene speaks the words to mend his wounds.
Cure light wounds : 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 should put Nabu at +5hp
Be thorough with your recounting but dont delay. Remember we can not rest here, recall that the goblins return for their dead.
DM Lil" Eschie
Nabu cought some more blood, still feeling dizzy. As Selene watches over him, he asks her
Is that you Hami?Am I dead?
Takeshi and Essa watches the woods, and so far nothing happens. The goblins are long gone now, but you don't know if the tribe will try another assault. There are a few of their warriors down by now.
Groyshna waits a little, sits against the wall of the crumbled tower, and starts to speak, for no one in particular
It's all my fault, really. Steve came to the inn, where we were drinking a lot, angry at your lot for being chosen. He talked us into taking things into our own hands. Our pride was wounded, and we wanted to show we were as good as you were, if not better. We stole the map and went into the night. An argument broke between Steve and me, and I can't remember why. A smart comment about my mixed heritage, probably. I told those two to get hold of Steve, and punched the guy a few times... You know waht I mean, Enev. Never in the face, all ribs and belly, unless you really anger me. When I asked him if he had enough, he backtalked me again, and I punched him once more, as hard as I could, angry, drunk and mad at the guy. I put all my strenght in that punch, and didn't noticed Fadj wasn't holding Steve any more. Nabu wasn't strong enough, and unter my blow, lost his hold. Steve fell backward, and his head hit a big stone. I'll never forget the sound of his skull breaking on the stone, I think. He was dead on the spot. We panicked, threw him on the side of the trail, and ran away... that's the story.
You can do a sense motive check if you want-except Takeshi and Essa, who are too far
Malya Vardigan
Mayla listened as she looked at her brother. Even with what little he said he hadn't told the truth and she felt the anger boil a little.
As Groyshna talked she listened watching him move and his posture as he spoke. Trying to gleen if he was more truthful than her own blood.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Her eyes looked back to her brother as if telling him to tell her, why he suddenly stopped holding Steve. That also still didn't explain the blood on his ax either.
'Heavens help me I want to throttle him. What the hell does he think he is doing lying to me. We are siblings and I know when he is trying to shift blame.'
