Traveler. Intuitive, understandable, fun. Also loved rifts but only because my first game of it we played heroes unlimited that had us fall through into the main rifts game 15 minutes in. We had a mister immortal style character that kept adding levels of juicer and laughing about how much fun it was to juice out and not worry about during. A technomancer ala forge who designed a better glitter boy. And me and my wife, a duo of anti hero alien bug people with immunity to kinetic energy and high resist to energy as well as super endurance, acid bile spit, and the ability to reform our bodies if we died. The québécoise hated us.

FASA is the company that originally put out the original Star Trek RPG. It also put out the original Shadowrun, and BattleTech. As well as a dozen other game systems.

Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |

I feel old that someone playing on here never heard of FASA.
*depressed*

With my group it is a miracle I know of them. In my IRL gaming groups I have to put up with a Ork Street Samurai whose main weapons are Cyberspurs mocked up to look like Wolverine's Claws and the rest of them get caught up talking about Duck Dynasty, American Idol, or some other "Reality" T.V. Show.

Wilhelm Orlovsky |

Given that they stopped active operations right about the time I was getting into middle school (2001), I don't feel too bad for not knowing who they were. :)

Sorta self taught. Still have some of my 1980's games.
As far as advanced algebra, yeah, V&V was bad about that.
Then again, you had to have good colorvision and be able to do number line adjustments in your head for DC and Gamma World, those rainbow colored hit charts. 1 through AA. :)
And the award for Deadliest Game Ever Designed goes to....
Boot Hill! Where it takes you 5 minutes to roll up a character because every time you're shot at you have a 5% chance of instant death from a head wound.
With a runner up honorable mention going to Paranoia.
The only reason Boot Hill wins is because it's not part of the plot for you to die repeatedly.

Wow...
EDIT: If you want to go ahead and design a 5E Shadowrun Character I will probably have the Recruitment Thread up around Monday. That is if I don't have the full 4-6 PC Complement I am looking for. Assume that at Character Creation only 5E is available. I mainly just want the Priority Levels and Roles looking to be filled by each character then everyone working together to build a coherent team.
5E: Shadowrun Core Rulebook
4E*:
Arsenal
Augmentation
Runner's Companion
Street Magic
Unwired
*: Assuming the content is still relevent.
P.S.: Sorry Kertuffle for ganking the Discussion thread for a mini-recruitment...

Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes would be a strong contender for deadliest game ever. Paranoia probably wins it, but the damage output for firearms was 'realistic', when compared to character hit points. Was rare if you could stand up to one hit from a firearm. Aside from that it was pretty good for a d6 based game.

Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |

I'll consider it Masey. I don't have 5th ed, so I don't know that I could make a character. I didn't even know it was out.

Fhârn |

Huh - FASA closed down before I started to worry about things like companies and such (was ten at the time). But looking at their track record I can see they made a few thing I've played - most notably Shadowrun and Mechwarrior/Battletech (the computer game was one of my first, using the jetpack to climb skyscrapers and then land on smaller mechs was super fun!).
On the topic of lethal games I am surprised noone has mentioned Call of Cthulu or, to a lesser extent, Dark Heresy. Both have tendency to end with the investigators stuck in something waaay over their head and dying horribly.
Like Sanita I'll consider it - neither I have the 5ed books. Might be able to remedy that and whip something up anyways.

Masamura Yoshirou |

Wait what!? Dying in Chargen!?
And feel free. It is fairly simple. I have whipped up around 5 characters just in the past hour.
I am looking to get The Assassin's Primer, Coyotes, and Gun H(e)aven 3. Though I would need to get some more cash ahead before I can pick them up.

Kertuffle |

I remember when roleplaying required advanced algebra. Villains and Vigilantes. Ahh I miss the old days.
Let's not forget FGU. Space Opera, a game written by a bunch of engineers so math intensive you needed a degree to figure out what your chance to hit was. And so badly edited that the rules for using tractor beams in combat was in the starship repair rules. 'Snif' I loved that game.

Fhârn |

There is quite an impressive number of skulls on the tactical map - I hope you have plenty of channels to go around!

Fhârn |

Is it time for round two actions in the Mounted Bandit fight ?

Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |

I believe so, GM posted a 'turn wrap up' post. Sanita's done hers.

Fhârn |

All righty then!
edit: I'll think I'll wait a few moments with my action. I assume every square at the map represents a 5x5 foot square? Then some of the riders are within charge range - and I don't feel comfortable takeing the decision to charge or hold myself.
TL:DR Do we charge or do we hold ? I'll wait a few hours

Masamura Yoshirou |

BTW I thought I would throw this up given my lack of time to create a full thread yesterday but anyone interested in my Shadowrun Campaign the recruitment thread will be up in 30 Minutes to an Hour. It will start off with a Vote on whether people are interested in 4E with all the 4E Core Rulebooks or 5E with limited 4E Content.
Also anyone else curious on whether or not the rumors of Paizo working with a 3PP to make a Pathfinder Modern Rulebook is true or not?
EDIT: The thread is up now.

Fhârn |

Will check out that thread of yours tomorrow then Masa!
*Shudder* Not really looking forward to getting charged by someone with a lance, but *holdthumbs*

Sanita Malvanna Or'Fana Kalnath |

@Lanya
There are Nobles, and then there are 'Nobles'. The former is just someone born to a title, or given one. The latter is a subspecies of slime mold most often found in un-maintained latrines.
For example, a Noble protects people, and works to find a way to get what needs to be done done with a minimal loss of life.
A 'Noble' get's his charges killed in a suicidal frontal assault because he wants a bard to sing a tune about him being all honorable and dashing.
So, if Lanya is a Noble, that's fine. If she's a 'Noble', then Sanita will probably not hit it off with her (unless by hit off, you mean beat her to a pulp). :)

Lanya Beladon Medvyed |

Lanya would belong rather to the first than the second category, though her occupation might let Sanita expect the other.
Diplomacy and politics is as much the second category towards other nobles as the first to make your own point.
So if they can get to know each other outside of the politics chambers they might like each other better.

Infinite trip doesn't work. Check the FAQ, it's been clarified.
The attack happens PRIOR to the completion of the action that triggered it. So, if someone is standing, they provoke an attack before they are standing up. That means they are still prone, and you can't trip a prone character.
What you can do is this :
Character runs past you with move action, provoking.
Trip character.
Character stands up by converting standard to move.
Attack Character, with bonuses for defender being prone.
This works if you have combat reflexes, because they are two different provocations. I played a monk who had a MUCH higher Trip CMB than Melee or Ranged. So she'd use her scythe to trip, then take AoO on people that were getting up.
So, allowing a combat maneuver on an AoO should be just fine, as you can't trip-lock any more (not that you ever could).

Give me some time to search the boards and I may reconsider my decision. Right now I have a vacation coming up next week and I have so much to do at work to prep that I am really stressed right now. Next week should be another matter altogether. Yea!

No worries - I think I'm the only one in the party that would utilize such a tactic (I think I'm the only one mainly using a reach weapon) and if you feel you only want normal attacks on the AoOs I'm ok with you decision.

I can get you a link for the FAQ if you like. :)
Enjoy your trip.
