Between Beorn's arrows, Eve's whip, and Rouqar's channel the flow of the undead ceases long enough for Renia to close the gate on his own. Loarin follows Renia to release another channel.

Beorn continues to fire at undead until they are cleared from inside the fort. Then he has Reaper drop to the ground where he dismounts. Nocking an arrow he says, "Let's clear some buildings and let us hope there are no mountain trolls about."

I'm sure Renia is still hurting but don't know how much. Did the healing that I cast on him get applied? Is anyone else hurt?

Loarin looks at Rouqar confused. He stops concentrating and walks to the side to have a seat and heal himself.

A round later the fire winks out of existence. Most of the walls are still smoking as the timbers are at least still very, very hot. Small flames can be seen here and there. Which likely is the target of your water spell.

As the range of create water is 25 feet + 5 feet per 2 levels, Rouqar quickly douses the outer wall and ceiling on this side.

You can see that there is no light or movement coming from the arrow slots. Anyone want to try to peek in?

Beorn concentrates for a moment speaking the words needed to channel the energy and then begins to sweep the area with detect magic active. Any items he finds he notifies the others and then places them in his pack. If they are spiky he wraps them, if they are long like a stave then he puts them in his quiver.

Picking up the wands or staffs of the undead gives off a shock. If fully grasped as if to use it then you feel negative levels. If still after that point possibly more, though likely not yet.

Beorn picks up his third staff and it explodes! 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) = 13 Fire damage Reflex DC 18 for half. Also Will save DC 22 or the other staffs go off as well.

Flouncy has collected two so far when Beorn spouts fire.

He gets up and walks back to the group and answers Reina, "Well nothing is for sure but the Stolenlands have been filled with as much undead as well. The rumors of necromancers, demons, and unholy sites abound."

Once they know that the magic items of the undead are cursed and possibly trapped Rouqar stops. "I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that they'd trap everything too. We can destroy them once we've cleared this place."

"Undead have plagued my existence from the beginning. We need to find the casters and destroy them, and see if there is any information leading to their masters."

"Beorn? How bad are you hurt? We shouldn't be chasing enemies while hurting."

Beorn dumps the quiver, while dealing with the pain of the one that just went off in his hand. He'd rather have to pick up a mess than lose his quiver.

Renia shrugs and heads toward the now-quenched building, intent on kicking in the door. "Let's drag 'em out here and ask some pointed questions, then."


With the arrows and other items dumped from his quiver, another of the wands goes off, destroying the few arrows touching it.

Walking in you see that the walls are black and charred from the heat. There are piles of bones on the floor. Walking around you find that most of the items within were burnt. Small fires are here and there.

Making it up to the third floor you find that all of the rooms are vacant. No signs of remains from the flaming strike, not even ash, so no signs of anything dying. The largest room is luckily on the far side of the fort and barely touched by the fire.

You walk into a large bedroom with maps on the walls, desks, and tables. A large wooden trough is in the center of the room, the water is moving. The bed has the blankets thrown to the side. A few moments and a head emerges from the water gasping for air and quickly drops back into the water.

As they head into the dark hallways he activates light putting it on the front of his shield in case anyone needed some light. Cautiously moving around and checking on the bodies and any signs of threats before anything else.

As they came upon small fires he used create water as well to quench the fires and also on any warm spots.

Up on the third floor in the spacious room, he walks forward, takes a knee and puts his hand in the water to find her wrist, pulling her up. The bulk of his armor and shield block the nakedness of the woman before them. "We are here to help. Could someone get her a cloak or robe or something?"


She has long black hair and mesmerizing eyes. Pink and purple eyes that speak to great age and danger. Her long pointed ears make her seem to be an elf. Her skin is alabaster white, nearly the opposite of a drow.

Being pulled from the wooden basin she seems startled and surprised. Her other hand going to the far side of the basin.

Rouqar moves in to study the maps and any documents. When he notices Loarin helping what appears to be a white elf out of water he calls out. "Anybody a Paladin? Detect evil? Or detect undead? Most living people that I've known need to breath air."

She sputters as she sits up in the basin. She quickly says, "Don't hurt me, I am a slave to that vile necromancer. One of many in the basement."

She replies happy and excited in Elven, "The evil black mage brought me here. I am Jathal Zordlon of the Star Elf clan of Deepest dark moon."

At Beorn's words she freezes and seems to become paralyzed and has a hard time breathing.

Eve does not detect evil coming from the elven lass.
