Looks like I'm on the battle map.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

Which of the maps are we suppose to be place our token on? I just checked them out, and didn't see tokens on any of them.
Also, yeah, I read the spoiler of Infernal notes. Not too sure what to make of them.

Rokan the Ascetic |

I am able to move my token on the battlemap.
Unrelated observation: I'm getting a strong HP Lovecraft vibe from the descriptions of details in the various environments (e.g., this new cavern). Something like At the Mountains of Madness. Strong inspiration there or no?

Sebecloki |

I didn't have that explicitly in mind, but it's not totally wrong now that you mention it -- the kreen are alien, and I'm sort of combining it with a pseudo egyptian/aztec aesthetic in emulation of Giger-inspired terrain like the Engineer civilization or the Antarctic pyramid in Aliens vs. Predator.

Ri'Kli'Klek |

I can move my token.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

As can I!

Rilkus Ironhand |

Unlike most campaigns I’m REALLY afraid to engage anything here.
Can I use telekenisis to try and pull off the wobbly wheels?
Also if the entire floor is about to be covered in acid, what do you all think? Should I just close the door? It’d cost another lvl3 Spell. But I don’t know of another way for us to avoid being melted.

Ri'Kli'Klek |

I'd do better with a boring grid than a fancy background, but it's good at present other than that.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

I too love the detailed maps. But, I'm a Virgo, and we're suckers for details, lol

Rokan the Ascetic |

I think the map is good. I like the detail and if we need a grid for tactical movement I would prefer it were overlaid with this detail, not replacing it.

Amunet-Ra |

Can agree there with the map!
I'm having computer problems at home, what makes posting atm a bit difficult.

Ri'Kli'Klek |

I just find it a bit busy, but I'm the sort of person who plays grand strategy games zoomed-out to the point all you can see are the little icons for your units, so I'm probably not normal when it comes to such things...

Raxus Half-blood |

GM, the number of maps at the top of the page are now taking up an entire side of my campaigns tab. I don't know if you did that on purpose or if there was a site update that moved some things around, but it's a bit much. Can move the links we don't use often into the campaign info tab instead?

Amunet-Ra |

Wow that's indeed a lot of maps^^
You could keep some of them on the gameplay tab.
There's a lot of space, but you already know that.

Amunet-Ra |

Computer at home has broken down, until fixed posting depends on other devices with unreliable availability.
Hope to have this fixed soon :(

I already answered that -- I want them at the top of the page so I don't have to scroll back and forth to access stuff, it was completely intentional on my part, and I'm going to continue to use that space.

Amunet-Ra |

All fine!
My post probably reads different than intended i realize.

Sebecloki |

I don't know if anyone saw this, but I'm recruiting for a super high powered, one-shot silly and gruesome Christmas adventure involving Krampus in the recruitment forums. I'm trying to get this together together fairly quickly if anyone's interested. It will be bratty 20th level kids fighting hordes of colossal goblinoids, epic-level monsters, and a demi-god level Krampus.

Rokan the Ascetic |

I love all of the links (in such a rich campaign more reference-able background is better). If it's just the *space usage* (and display consequences) that bugs some people, it is possible to use spoilers in campaign summary to reduce that but keep the links accessible. Seeing the current two headers, a couple of similarly named spoilers would do the trick.

Cae Leonidas |

Yeah, the description already uses up a lot of unnecessary space. If you could do a Maps spoiler, that would be helpful. And move the rest to the "Full Description" part.

Rokan the Ascetic |

With the pit open will the device-creature not roll forward any further? Rokan will make a decision assuming all of the observations about the current room are verified, but I'm unclear if there are more consequences of the pit opening other than the acid draining away.

Sebecloki |

Well, for now it's stationary, no one's tried to approach it or tamper with it further.
Hamza's done some scouting to the left and right and has reported the general results -- no one asked for any follow-up or clarification about what he saw to figure out a strategy for moving forward.
There's that mysterious gong that's sounded three times.
It seems like it's pretty clear the party has to go right or left, having just dealt with the immediate issue of the acid bath on the floor -- I'm trying to understand why we're not barreling ahead. This is sort of a Tomb of Horrors-esque dungeon crawl, and should be pretty straight forward in terms of what the present options and objectives are -- like go one direction or another, deal with a trap, etc.

Rokan the Ascetic |

Yup, I thought a bit more might happen to the right to open up another option. Onward then.

Rokan the Ascetic |

Way back in the beginning, there was an expectation of not only frequent posts, but *larger* posts. For me (and I think others, at least in that initial group) it led to a tendency to either make that larger post or not bother. Getting over that and just posting decisive actions is the correction for me. If it ends up there are quality problems with the posts, that can then be addressed (honest feedback welcome).
Just putting this out there in case it's the thing affecting others.

Ri'Kli'Klek |

I work 8-5 (and they filter the Internet so I can't get on even during lunch), have a wife, and have various other obligations. I can post once a day usually, but if I don't have something useful to contribute when I'm online I'm only going to post a little something saying that.

Well, you and Rilkus are the only members of that discussion left at this point -- I'd prefer more detailed posts, but at this point I'd settle for consistency, and keeping some forward motion.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

I think right now, we're kinda in an odd position of waiting for a couple of PCs to figure stuff out, or help move us forward, and the rest of us kinda don't have much to do.
I'm definitely invested in this game, but at the moment, there doesn't seem to be too much for every one to do.

Sebecloki |

I'm not sure if everyone saw this, but does anyone in the group speak Nibenese, the dialect of Nibenay? I need to know to figure out how I'm going to do the next scene.
I'm trying to resolve whatever it is needs to be figured out so we can keep moving. I'll try to add in stuff for everyone to be focusing on/doing.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

I have 7 languages I can choose from. I get Common and Infernal for free via my race, but I'm unsure if I should get any extra from my 'culture' since racial dialects aren't as big of a thing in DS(I don't think). Should I drop Common for Ramite?

Rilkus Ironhand |

Vacation time with family, hopping on a plane in two days. A lot to do before then (three kids). Will post as much as I can without upsetting the wife

Amunet-Ra |

I think i have some free langauge spots as well left, because i was uncertain which languages to take.
Planar languages make no sense for Amunet-Ra though, since she likely hasn't had any contact.
Perhaps an elemental language, but that's it.
Or a city dialect.
For posts, i like longer posts, but with my broken computer, work at the moment and family it's often better to bring in several shorter ones, referencing and reacting with the story and other party members.
That makes for nice dialogues as well.
I came away from long single player posts with lots of inner monologue etc. because i find it often unresponsive to others.
In certain situations it's good though.
Just think about how we ourselves would act naturaly, i think posts should reflect that. :D

Sebecloki |

Nibenese is a city dialect of the city-state of Nibenay. There's an entry for it in the gazetteer in the Dark Sun conversion guide pdf I posted in campaign info. Its culture is Chinese/Japanese (I'm probably going to add in some Vietnamese and Thai elements as well).
Its possible Amunet-Ra would know the language because of trade contacts or learning it from some old source.
Let me know if you elect to have that as one of your languages so I can know if you understand what's being said by the voices on the other side of the smog wall.
Also, I updated the battlemaps to add a new one with the smog wall, as well as an overview to show how all three of the recent areas connect.

Hamza Mīnakshi |

After reading over Nibenay, I think it makes sense for Hamza to know their language. His house is the major merchant house for Alaka, so Hamza has probably visited Nibenay a few times, or has at least conducted some business with them on his family's behalf.
Also, if I remember correctly, we decided to make the Yaksha's racial language Daemonic instead of Infernal, but Hamza would also know Infernal and Abyssal as well.
Thus, his languages currently are: Ramite(free), Daemonic(free), Infernal, Abyssal, Giant(Ogre?), Nibenese and then 3 others.
Would any other city-state dialects make sense? Oh and what's the language for Alaka? Do they speak Ramite as well? If not, I was thinking maybe Shadowtongue from Golarion, which is the language of the denizens of the Plane of Shadow.

Rilkus Ironhand |

74 posts while I was gone...wow!
Can...I please ask for a quick summary of what happened, where we are, and where Rilkus is?
