I think we could do that now or for when you planned it, just don't make it too long and extensive. Like if we get back to daily posting, make it a month or so.
I really dig the story here so far, but we had some issues with the houserules lately and we might not yet be that firm overall.
My suggestion there is simply don't introduce yet another new system or character building before we all have a better grasp here.
I can also echo the others, this is a fantastic game so far and the freedom really enjoyable. I do believe though that mechanics come second to roleplaying and hope once we have a firmer grasp on everything we can move along faster - in roleplaying and story. Fights are also roleplaying for me when done properly ;)
Hence my idea of making the sleeving more of a cosmetic thing.

Map looks good but isn't editable. I think I see why. you've uploaded it as a word doc, which is read-only in google drive. In the folder that you have it, right click and select "Open With > Google Docs" and it will make a "google docs" native version of the file. This version of it, you can grant us permission to edit and move our tokens around.
Rokan the Ascetic
I don't really have any hard constraints on the tangent story you'd like to do. I don't need it to go fast, I'm honestly excited to explore any branches of story either on Athas or these additional worlds. I'm not particularly tied to this being the original Legacy of Fire AP that was advertised and continue to be intrigued by all of these additional elements. That's my opinion on the *story* side of things, essentially I'm up for whatever because I expect good things in any case, based on how it's gone so far.
On the rules side I concur with Amunet that we're still finding our ground in combat, shared understanding of rules (e.g., grapple), and so slowing the introduction of new *rules* would seem advisable.
Sebecloki
Okay, thanks for all the replies, I'm still thinking about where this is going. I'm still not 100% sure where this will go, it will depend a bit on what the characters do.
Did anyone else try out the map, can you move your pawns now?
Rokan posted his Round 2 actions, still waiting for everyone else...
Rokan the Ascetic
the doc behaves a bit oddly for me, when I try to grab my token, all of the tokens seem to suddenly hide behind a large athasan splash image...?
Sebecloki
There is a background image, but it doesn't do anything when I manipulate the tokens -- honestly I'm wondering if we should just give up on this and go back to 'theater of the mind' for now, I'm not sure what else I can do with the map from a tech angle if it still doesn't work as intended unless someone else has a bright idea. I don't think it's worth trying out 12 iterations of it to try to find a solution if it doesn't seem to be functional.
Rokan the Ascetic
Last suggestion there: I find google slides the easiest way to make maps with tokens.
Here is a rough sketch of our current battle map that you can edit:
The token placement isn't perfect (because it doesn't matter while you play with this to see if you like it).
If you do like it, steal it, copy it, use this, whatever.
Hamza Mīnakshi
Welp, I was able to move my token on the slides version, and couldn't on any of the others, despite being able to open them, so that's a plus.
Rilkus Ironhand
There is one solution...and it would work well for me as I mostly play on iPhone
Have A-Z up left side and 1+ on bottom of the map. So we can tell what square we are in and if we can’t move, we can say where we end up. For example:
Rilkus moves from A6 to B9.
This tells everyone where you started and ended up. And it means if only some of us have an issue then we can still keep going
Amunet-Ra
I think the issue is you're using documents instead of drawings.
Go on "new" in google docs and select the drawing with the red symbol.
That should work.
Can't move stuff on that map somehow, only the background picture.
Amunet-Ra
Unfortunately not and i keep messing the map up.
Have you thought about using roll20 for maps?
Free version could work really well for us.
I just started to create a map there, but i can't even copy out all the background maps, tokens, etc..
Hamza Mīnakshi
Are you attempting to open it on a mobile device? Any issues I've had with maps(regardless of program used) usually is cuz I am trying to open/edit it while on my cell phone.
Once Rokan switched up the map to Slides, I have had zero issues moving my token around while using my laptop. Prior to that, I was completely unable to move my token and just messed up the map.
Amunet-Ra
Actually didn't see any change in the map.
Whenever i click i'll get that background picture.
I'm on PC.
I took the liberty of recreating the map on Roll20. You can join with this Roll20 Link.
Raxus Half-blood
Just poking my head in here to say that I have a Roll20 Pro subscription and I'm happy to host maps for the game.
Here's a blank desert map I threw together in about 5 minutes with a random character token for scale.
Sebecloki
Thanks for the offer. Is there any chance you can cut and paste our current map in with the character tokens? Then I can just change the link in my profile.
Also I'd like to assure you I haven't forgotten you -- we're trying to get back on track here after a couple players had surgery and I've had a busy couple of school weeks.
Slyness is running the character of whom Raxus is a tulpa, and we're waiting for him to post his next actions in this game, as well as another one I'm running.
Raxus Half-blood
No problem. I'm patient.
Importing your map to Roll20 is a problem though. In order to copy the map I need to save the image to my own computer and then upload it to Roll20. Seems like it should be simple, but google slides doesn't allow images to be saved from it. There are some work-arounds, but they are a pain in the ass.
If you want, you can join the Roll20 game I just made, then I can make you the GM and talk you through a quick tutorial for making a map. It isn't hard at all.
Cae Leonidas
I am waiting because I am after the enemies.
Ditto.
Hamza Mīnakshi
I believe we're just waiting on Ri'Kli'Klek to post, yes? Can we just skip his turn for now?
Amunet-Ra
Well, that's not really a surprise to me :D
We're on the powerlevel of lvl 16+ characters probably.
Gonna catch up later today.
Hamza Mīnakshi
It's because the built in drawback in gestalt, limited actions despite a ton of options, is gone in this game.
Hamza just did 32 damage, which isn't that much, considering it was a crit.
However, that was only one of his 3 standard actions. I forgot we had 3.
As he recovered Shadow Feather Strike, he could use that again. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 This hits any of the 3 'boss' npcs as its vs touch. 4d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 5) + 4 = 16 which gives him 48 total damage in the round.
And I still have one more full standard action.
That's a big reason why we're not only able to slice through the NPCs, but also can easily get our asses kicked by them. 96 was done to Hamza before we realized he was out of position. Nothing comes close to that in a normal game at 4th level, gestalt or otherwise.
Sebecloki
OK, also I'm getting ready to level up the group again once we get through this combat.
Here are your options for this level up, so you can think about it.
OPTION 1: you get 1 more gestalt level (as in both sides of the gestalt go up 1), and 1 mythic tier.
OPTION 2: you get 1 gestalt level and 2 prestige class levels. You can take 1 level in 2 prestige classes, or 2 levels in one.
Think about it and ask me any needed questions.
Rilkus Ironhand
A hard choice. But I think that I’ll go +1/+1 gestalt with the mythic tier.
This is a very unique campaign. It feels like rocket tag. Death is very real, all around. Which is why Rilkus is designed to use combat maneuvers at range. Because positioning is key. He can detect invisible foes, and pin/trip/push enemies. If we play smart we win. If we don’t, we die.
No other campaign I’ve been in has had that level of stress. I’m used to doing the math and knowing that characters can tank x rounds. Here? A few bad dice rolls means dying. Choosing combat isn’t a go-to choice. I’m enjoying it.
Rilkus Ironhand
Just to start planning it out.
Lvl 5:
+4 Vigor
ABP: +2 Str (28)
Feat: Not sure...
Mythic Tier 3:
+4 Vigor
* Enduring Blessing (Barkskin is how 24/hour duration)
* Feat: Extra Ability- Legendary Item (Foe Biting on sword. Can spend 1 Mythic Power to double damage on an attack)
Elementalist Shifter 5
* +7 Vigor
* +5 Skill Points
* +1 BaB
* Second Aspect (Air)
- Can swift action for +2 Con or Dex
- Can turn into an earth elemental (burrow speed) or air elemental (fly speed) for 5/hours per day
* Trackless Step
Druid 5
* Learns lvl 1 Spell Longstrider
* Learns lvl 2 Spell Fog Cloud
* Can cast stone shape 3 times per day (due to optional spontaneous caster rules, that’s the only spell he gets)
——
That’s the basics of the level up. All in all, he gets better movement options, doesn’t need to worry about keeping his Barkskin active anymore, can now burror and fly, and gets to be a bit stronger. Also foe biting will allow him to be much more beastly in close combat. All in all, not bad!
Cae Leonidas
I tend to default to "Would it break invisibility?" for defining an attack. I think this would, so I think it is immune.
Hamza Mīnakshi
Seb,
If you want to give me the full details of the issue at hand, I can ask in the d20 FB group I'm in. There's a ton of folks in there who are very well versed in the rules.
For myself, I'm really not sure what ruling would make sense here, and I consider myself to be at least semi rules savvy.
On the one hand, I can agree with your stance that due to having total cover, he can't be targeted by basically anything. Especially since he's down in a pit trap.
However, the comic book geek in me wants to say it's definitely possible for a telekinetic who knows where his foe is to pull said enemy up out of a pit to be attacked. But the issue of total cover protecting him then comes into play, and I'm back to not knowing what the right answer is here.
Hamza Mīnakshi
Regarding advancement,
I had said previously that I was considering the Mage Hunter PrC. That's still rather likely, as I think it plays into Hamza's abilities nicely.
However, I'm undecided just yet if I will take 2 levels in that, or 1 in Mage Hunter and one in Umbral Blade
Hamza Mīnakshi
Also, just a heads up on Rilkus taking foe-biting:
That ability is insanely strong. If you think you've had trouble challenging us before, an ability that allows you double literally all your damage, even bonuses otherwise not able to be doubled(like flaming or sneak attack) will definitely make it even harder to send worthy enemries after us.
It's specifically called out time and again as a problematic power when people talk about issues with mythic. So much so that Legendary Games suggests banning it outright in their section on dealing with problems in Mythic.
While I am not suggesting doing that here, as I don't want to ruin other player's fun, I would consider altering it.
LG suggests making it a bane weapon vs the foe you're attacking, with an increase to the enhancement and damage if the weapon is already bane against what you're fighting.
Personally, I think instead you turn the attack(s) into an automatically confirmed critical hit(s), but with the standard limitations in place. So, you double your strength, but not frost or sneak attack damage.
Rilkus Ironhand
I’ll just switch to Divine Potency instead. +4 lvl1 Spells per day. Useful but not game breaking.
Rokan the Ascetic
However, that was only one of his 3 standard actions. I forgot we had 3.
As I understand, not *exactly*. Not all standard actions translate to one of the actions in this new economy. E.g., casting a spell or manifesting a power was two actions, I thought.
I'm not sure if my strategy is the best based on this, because until I'm drained of psionic power I'm unwilling to to approach the enemies and directly use the final standard action as an attack, and am instead readying it for if they approach. I suppose if we start doing better in the combat (like now) perhaps the monk should get a little less cautious.
Also, man you guys can do some damage :) My character doesn't seem to be as optimized for it, but I do like the ability to hit five creatures at once, and this next level bump adds another die of damage to each of these energy bolts.
Rokan the Ascetic
I'm still having fun, it's challenging me to think of new tactics and situations and look through my monster books for interesting critters.
Hope everyone else is!
Definitely fun. I think I still have tactics to learn and feel out with this character though. So far I've gotten by playing it safe from a distance. We'll see what happens when the psionic power runs out.
Rokan the Ascetic
OK, also I'm getting ready to level up the group again once we get through this combat.
Here are your options for this level up, so you can think about it.
OPTION 1: you get 1 more gestalt level (as in both sides of the gestalt go up 1), and 1 mythic tier.
OPTION 2: you get 1 gestalt level and 2 prestige class levels. You can take 1 level in 2 prestige classes, or 2 levels in one.
Think about it and ask me any needed questions.
Pretty sure it's going to be option 1 again for me. Psionic fist just doesn't add much over the gestalt monk.
Rokan the Ascetic
It'll be a short while longer before I can catch up on gameplay (a few hours)
Amunet-Ra
I'm afraid you need line of sight for every directly aimed spell.
So grappling someone invisible with a spell is a bit questionable, sorry to say.
At least 50% miss chance if the exact location of the creature is known somehow.
Grappled creatures also stay invisible normaly and get a +2 bonus on their CMD.
I'm looking strongly at horizon walker, but will take that later.
So gestalt + mythic first.
Amunet-Ra
I have to admit with all the special abilities etc. going on this is really difficult.
Blindsense lets a creature notice things it cannot see, but without the precision of blindsight. The creature with blindsense usually does not need to make Perception checks to notice and locate creatures within range of its blindsense ability, provided that it has line of effect to that creature. Any opponent that cannot be seen has total concealment (50% miss chance) against a creature with blindsense, and the blindsensing creature still has the normal miss chance when attacking foes that have concealment. Visibility still affects the movement of a creature with blindsense. A creature with blindsense is still denied its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class against attacks from creatures it cannot see.
Blindsight would make invisibility irrelevant to you, but blindsight doesn't. You could make physical attacks with a 50% miss chance (which could not be done without blindsense that easily), but spells need line of sight/effect.
Amunet-Ra
The map works fine now, but i have no clue what's going on there.
Who are the ochre foes now? Are they dead?
Moved myself to where i stood before.
