I've watched some of its gameplay from Lobos and Juutas's videos. My gut reaction is that it has too much platforming, and the bosses seem underwhelming. Is this close to the truth?

28/28 HP

I'm looking forward a little bit to Death's Gauntlet but I think it comes out after DS 3

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

I've had fun with it so far. The first two bosses are pretty easy once you have their patterns down, but I'm having a really hard time with the third one. The platforming isn't too bad, since you can grab ledges and there's a good deal of exploration.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

I looked back- all I could find for proof was the United Land and the key he gave us. Other than that, he just said we have to help the general; I had thought we were going to tell them the outpost/prison was done for but I think I misremembered.

This has to be my life's longest weekend.

What plans do you guys have for DS3? I'm going for a Strength build to get a greatshield so I can turtle in PvP.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Going to wait to finish the school semester before diving in. It's a rough semester.

I'll have to see what the options are. More likely than not my first build will be a sword-and-board, because I truly think that melee-only is the best way to experience your first run of the game. There's just something awe-inspiring about going against these behemoths and monsters with nothing but a sword in hand.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

Yeah, DS 3 has to come out at the busiest time of the year for my job. Grumble grumble

I like playing a strength/faith sword and board build since they're resilient and can go a little longer between bonfires. I'll do a paladin build like that and maybe a pyromancer or thief build on the side.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

I just got an email that my DS3 collectors edition was shipped. With any luck I'll have it early, although knowing steam I supect I will have to wait with playing it until the actual release nonetheless. I'm unemployed at the moment so while that sucks in general it will at least give me enough time to sink my teeth into the game.

I really don't know yet what build to go for. I hear midroll in this game is functionally identical to fast roll, so I will probably go for medium armor, which I basically always do, but this time I will be able to move faster. I kinda want to go for greatsword because the weapon looked so pretty in the network test videos i saw.

I will definitely focus on melee because I want to use the weapon art mechanic.

28/28 HP

Amazon is delivering mine on the 13th. I've been on total media blackout for months. If you guys spoil anything at all for me I will absolutely freak out.

Dude, I've been avoiding one third of my favorite Youtube channel's videos for the past week so I don't spoil myself on DS3, so I know how you feel. You won't have to worry about me.

Luckily I don't have to worry because the only Youtuber I watch is Markiplier and he sucks at games too much to play Dark Souls.

I have watched one too many PvP videos. I think I've been spoiled more than I would have wanted. I regret it, but I don't think I would have been able to resist anyway. You guys are strong!

Male Human Commoner 2/ Philosopher 2/ Gamer 5/ Writer 5

I don't even have a system that'll run DS3 yet, so I'm contenting myself with still playing two. I've only actually gotten through most of the game with one build at this point (latecomer to the series), so it's been interesting trying out some different kinds of characters.

At this point I still prefer my heavy armor, greatshield and sword character to the new dexterity-sorcery build, I think. Although I've been working on my dodging and parrying, so there is benefit to it.

It's a good time to mention- April is fixing to be particularly brutal at work, since we have our biggest annual show coming up. If my posting becomes spotty, feel free to NPC me or have someone else determine my actions.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

Good luck with that, Ulrich.

My DS3 CE arrived today. Wierdly enough steam won't let me install the game from the disc, but I can preload it.

Acknowledged. In the meantime, if/when there's a battle, should Kekkle take over the botting duty, when someone's not posting?

Sorry about not posting yesterday, my DS3 arrived a day earlier than I thought (I guess time zones worked in my favor?), so that absorbed my time.

I am hype.

No spoilers, but holy cheese the game is awesome. I have encountered my new favorite boss, my new favorite area, my new Top 1 Most Difficult Boss (which I beat, I am awesome!)... The bosses are crazy good. So is the level design and lore, which unfortunately reminds me how much Labyrinth Souls is meek and uninteresting in comparison... But I'm still positive I can deliver at least a few "Oh My God" moments to you guys...!

Anyway, once I renew my PSN Plus I'll go online. Johnnycat and Threeshades, want to do some co-op?

I'm down, my PSN name is the same as my paizo name.

Would love to but I have the PC version.

28/28 HP

Waiting for mail man ;_;

Just considered: we only have two-hundred souls. Do we want to risk wasting the opportunity to level up if we fight the boss and don't end up with enough souls to level up?

Male Sivis Gnome Wizard 3| HP: 26/26 | AC 11 | Passive Perception: 11 | Spells: 1st 4/4…2nd 2/2

I am still level 2, so we should in theory get enough for at least my level right?

28/28 HP

Mail's here!

Who's going through the fog? I can buff people going through before hand so I don't actually need to be present.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

I think the rules changed that we can only level up after killing a boss, so it won't matter.

Male Human Medium (Reincarnated) | HP 35/35 | AC 20, touch 11, FF 19 | Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +5 | Init +1, Perception +6 | Lamb, Order of the Sheep

That's true, who all is going through the wall? I'm happy to do so, and Araden is built to deal good damage, so unless anyone objects I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Tannan coming through as well is probably a good choice; Elyna (for ranged support) and at least one of the other 3rd-level folks is probably good, too. Not sure exactly who, though; everyone's well-built to do different stuff.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

I think as our only healer it would be wise for me to come through. Although I suppose death is less of a consequence in this world than in a normal game.

Thanks Elyna! You know, I've got an anecdote to tell about the names of Brave-Faced Scorpion, Accursed Ram God and these two. Remind me to tell you when the time is right.

Sorry for the delay, paizo.com crashed just as I was writing that long post, and I had to come back a lot later.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

This is coming as a surprise to me as much as it will to you, but I will be hospitalized with little to no internet from tomorrow April 22nd for an amount of time not yet determined. Hopefully only for the weekend but possibly longer. The operation isn't a big thing but I'll have to stay there anyway.

GMPC me as needed.

Oh, wow. Get well soon.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Get well soon Elyna.

Wow, those were some clutch rolls. Apparently Pahleg is destined to be a blasting caster.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

Thanks. I came home just in time to miss the end of the boss fight.

I'm having issues with my computer. If I stop posting for a long period of time it's because my computer has crashed, and I am trying to fix it or get a new one. But don't worry, I have the campaign material stored safely.

He needs a Shriving Broadsword for that first.

28/28 HP

Remember to level up Tannan and whoever else

Male Human Medium (Reincarnated) | HP 35/35 | AC 20, touch 11, FF 19 | Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +5 | Init +1, Perception +6 | Lamb, Order of the Sheep

Ah, I didn't know that I could level up despite dying in the battle. If nobody minds I'd like to do that, then. If Tannan and I do then we're all 3rd level, I believe; we should probably save the other Souls for now, in case we need them to buy anything or something.

28/28 HP

It's only 400 to take someone from 3 to 4. I think we should do that now while we have the chance; we'll still have 400 left.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

I'll always happily accept another level. Level 4 would allow me to increase my dex bonus so it would be a substantial bonus (AC, attack, initiative, reflex, CMD), but I think i can wait for now, other people might need it more.

I notice kekkle is fairly low on HP and has several uneven ability scores to improve.

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

Level 4 wouldn't be a big difference for me. Level 5 would.

female Gnome Kineticist 4 | HP (45(41)/45) | AC/Touch/Flat 18/14/15 | Fort/Ref/Will +9/+7/+2 | Init +5 | Percep +9

The choice of class features that i gain is not very evocative, basically
- +1 damage
- a way to erode fire resistance with my burning infusion
- the ability to move ongoing fires around (cool but rather rarely usable)
- a minor bonus to two skills that I'm not particularly interested in

so there is nothing very interesting in it for me.

28/28 HP

You could roll fire down a hallway?

I only get spell access and a spell at 4 so it's not hugely helpful

Kekkle Smoughbon wrote:

Yes, 4 five-foot-squares of it at that point, but first we would have to lay a fire that big. And then the wording is vague enough that i can't tell what happens if I move the fire over a non-flammable surface, like your typical stone hallway floor.

Male Human Medium (Reincarnated) | HP 35/35 | AC 20, touch 11, FF 19 | Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +5 | Init +1, Perception +6 | Lamb, Order of the Sheep

In terms of class features, I really don't get much from level 3 myself--just Ease Passage or (if the GM will allow a replacement since that feature applies to the raise dead spell, which we aren't using here) Haunt Channeler--but it'll up my BAB, HP, and my Fortitude and Reflex saves. 4th level is where there's a nicer boost, since my Spirit Bonus goes up along with my BAB, but I definitely wouldn't want to grab 2 levels in a row here.

Hm-hm, there's no raise dead in this campaign so there'd be no point in the ability as written. But, if you'd want an option for Haunt Channeler (which is very situational even in Golarion settings), you could use this version of Ease Passage:

Ease Passage (Su): At 3rd level, as long as a reanimated medium's body is intact, it's easy for him to return to it. He only loses 1 hit point per level because of respawning (instead of 2). He has a 50% chance of negating the 1 point of ability point reduction at each additional death. This ability replaces haunt channeler.

which, of course, is made obsolete by your covenant, the Order of the Sheep; but you could always join another covenant. Anyway, you can choose between Haunt Channeler and this. Is that okay?

@Elyna: What ability are you talking about? We could try to clear up any vagueness together.

@Everyone: So, level-up Tannan and Araden is what I'm hearing. Any decisions about who else, if anyone at all? If there's no clear decision soon I'll roll randomly or something.

My computer is busted, and it looks like it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new, cheaper one. Please excuse me if there's a hiatus, or longer-than-average posting intervals.

The Fire Sculptor wild talent:

Quote:

You can sculpt shapes out of flame or alter a fire's spread. As a standard action, you can move one 5-foot square of an ongoing fire per kineticist level you possess to any square contiguous to that fire. For instance, a 4th-level kineticist could move 4 contiguous squares from the center of a 20-foot-by-20-foot fire to the fire's edge in order to create a safe path to escape. The fire continues to spread normally after you sculpt it.[/spoiler]

Male Aasimar Cleric 4 | AC 15, Touch 10, FF 15 | HP 35/35 | F +7, R +2, W +8 | Init +0 | Perc +5

I say we level up the front liners. Another increase of BaB and more health is always important for them.

Male Human Fighter 4, AC 20, Touch 10 (12), FF 19; HP 21/41(47), Fort +8 Ref +1, Will 0; Initiative 0; Perception -2, Bravery +1 (+1 saves vs. fear); Hellfire Private (Order of the Bonfire) 3 Con damage

April is finally behind us, so I should be back to regular posting again when you're ready.

Male Human Medium (Reincarnated) | HP 35/35 | AC 20, touch 11, FF 19 | Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +5 | Init +1, Perception +6 | Lamb, Order of the Sheep

That ability sounds pretty spot-on, honestly, and I'd been thinking that something like it would fit perfectly for this game. I'll go ahead and take that, since it fits the archetype a little more than Haunt Channeler does.

So, Araden is going to level up to level 3, requiring 375 souls. At this level up, he gains the following:
--8 hit points (5 from HD, 2 from Con modifier, 1 from favored class)
--+1 BAB
--+1 Fort and Ref saves
--+1 rank teach to Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Perception
--New Feat: Power Attack
--New Spell Known: message
--Class Feature: Ease of Passage
--Automatic Bonus Progression: Resistance +1

I think that's everything, so I'll update the profile.

Sounds like you can move fire to stone floor, but after that it "continues to spread normally", which means that it likely won't spread in the stone floor and will eventually die. Yeah, it's vague on how that happens. Would it be reasonable to assume that a fire that is moved to a non-flammable surface dies in 1 to 10 rounds, depending on how non-flammable it is? Eg. water being 1 round, cold stone floor something like 3 rounds, warm soil 8 rounds, swamp being 10, etc.?
