Seems like the Orlovsky's may have stalled with uncertainty.
So let's say you guys retreat to an upper room, perhaps the chapel, which appears unused by any of the complexes current inhabitants, bars the doors and takes a rest. You can always re-scout the lower banquet hall and see if there is another avenue of approach, or retreat back to Freewater, (which technically at this point you have never been to, but let's not worry about that aspect of continuity.)
You can always recruit other parties to assist you if you feel the threat here is too great to be handled alone. Or regroup and attempt another avenue of attack.
At any rate, upon resting for a night you may advance to level 5.
Gareth de Lockhart |
Garet is down by 9, so he would appreciate some CLW TLC.
Gareth de Lockhart |
I am still trying to decide on Gareth's bonus feat. I will have him finished soon.
EDIT:
Finished

Mardavig:
Did you get the ACG?

I'm far and forlorn from Indianapolis this year. Hopefully I can scoop up a pdf shortly.
I am a lover of crunchy bits, so any time there's classes, or races, or archetypes to be had I can be found not far away.
We have a couple of advanced class players in this game, and they may have to update their characters to the final version.

Already updated. just need to level up
I am assuming all the groups are leveling up.
Gareth de Lockhart |
I just noticed that a feat I chose does not work with rapiers. I need to pick another feat for Gareth. I probably won't be able to do it today, though.
Lorald Orlovsky |
I hope someone kept track of what we mapped, as I think it's a good chunk. Now on to the horde the DM dumped on us. xP

We did not get a exact number of derro so by extension don't know their looted gear precisely.
P.S. Gold split five ways is 1204 gp each, finally no left overs. That being said I would suggest dumping the 4 gp from each of us for 20 gp to be split in half for our froggy friend and former bandit. 10 gp tip for each of them. ;)
Gareth de Lockhart |
I like your suggestion about the gold. Lorald should take the cold iron rapier since it would serve him well against fey enemies. Gareth can enchant his own rapier or use spells to combat DR.
Gareth will want to take a scrolls of Web and Expeditious Retreat to copy into his spellbook. Whatever cannot be used should be sold, like always.
Mardavig |
There were 32 derros. Each had 10 bolts on him.
Lorald is correct, you have not technically been to Freewater yet.
So you chase out the Derros and Mites and barricade the entrances from the Fungal Cavern in an effort to keep the place from being used by other nefarious folks.
Garuum expresses some interest in journeying with you, since you killed his slurk.
Upon returning to the surface you head to the Stag Forst and participate in the founding of Emermark and Freewater. You spend two months establishing your kingdom.
The two other parties head West and East in search of their respective quarries. Where does that leave Team Orlovsky? The arrival of the Settlers brought with it Karan Orlovsky, inquisitor of Abadar and some say enforcer of the Orlovsky family.
Any purchases you might have arranged with Oleg are delivered to you, as well as any gifts you might receive from my bounties.
Where to now?
Natalya Artemisa |
Let's load up on acid and flame then head out for the troll, we'll swing by the area the original antlers discovered that shambling mound for good measure! Hopefully we'll be back in time for breakfast! (or at least the next lot of kingdom management rolls ;)
Gareth de Lockhart |
Spellcraft check to learn Expeditious Retreat
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Spellcraft check to learn Web
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Damn it! There goes a good battlefield control spell!
Lorald Orlovsky |
Going to try and see what we have uncovered from exploring. Before I give my two cents.
Gareth the spells only disappear from the scroll on a successful copy. So you just have to wait a week which you have plenty of during those two months before trying again. ;)
Lorald Orlovsky |
Sorry for the double post. I would prefer to keep mapping, more so sense the western part of the stag fort is unmapped. That happens to also be where some bounties are at so if we stumble across them all the better. Unless I am mistaken everything above the stag fort hex has been explored, adding in our own mapping. So I propose we start with the hex directly west of the stag fort to map and start adventuring again.
Btw what bounties did we clear again. We killed the tatzlwyrm for one, anymore?
Edit- When we are properly prepared.
Edit edit- Gareath claimed two scrolls so removing that from the list and gold. ;)
Lorald Orlovsky |
Ah may the gods have mercy, the dreaded triple post.
Something's I would like IDed when we get to freewater. Lady Morileath's Potion, Lady Morileath's Scroll, and the poisoned bolts.
Unless anyone else wants them, I would like to claim the mwk buckler, cold iron rapier, and antitoxin.
Concerning the rest, would like to sit on it for the moment if no one minds.
Natalya Artemisa |
Ah I see...arming our militia!?
"Here Brevik, does your sword smell 'funny' to you?"
"You mean like, a bit mouldy and that?"
"Yeah that's it, and this hilt looks like someone's gnawed on the end!"
lol ;)
No problem at all with keeping the arms squirreled away :)
Mardavig |
Indeed Gareth you could make 8 checks on your spell learning, so for all intents and purposes it's already done.
Lady Morilaeth was carrying a scroll of Aid and a potion of cure light wounds.
The bolts have the following poison on them:
Medium Spider Venom—injury; save Fort DC 14; frequency 1/round for 4 rounds; effect 1d2 Strength damage; cure 1 save.
When you guys are ready to leave just let me know which direction you want to go in.
Mardavig |
Freewater still does not have much of an economy, but Oleg's business is booming as all of the trade between Restov and Emermark comes through him.
So after returning from the Lair of Bactrophan you are able to send a message to Oleg and he orders these items for you and has them delivered at the castle in Freewater.
Gareth de Lockhart |
Gareth will request a mithral shirt for 1,100 gp. That is it for him.
Gareth de Lockhart |
Do we look like itinerant druids to her? Lorald is right that these men likely did not have any inkling that she claims these woods as her own. But Marlani's conciliatory approach seems to be showing returns.
Gareth lowers his crossbow just enough that he can aim it again quickly but, at the same time, not seem threatening.
Natalya Artemisa |
Ah Lorald I agree completely! So techincally hers is a terrorist act in taking hostages and making demands, but I think we are served by negotiating in this case. As long as she can be persuaded to release them we can look at helping her :)
Gareth de Lockhart |
I will probably not be able to post tomorrow. Please DMPC as needed.
Natalya Artemisa |
Figured I better post my shopping somewhere or I'm going to start getting lost :s
selling old gear + old cash etc from Antlers = 692gp 3sp
+1200gp from Dead Lady Morileath = 1892gp 3sp
Enchanting existing masterwork breastplate (fiendish design) +1 = 1000gp
leaving 892gp
Boons:
Smuggler's Wayfinder
Boots of the Cat
+1 Composite Longbow
Never mind trusty greatsword with a ribbon tied around the pommel, we'll afford an enchantment for you another time!!
Natalya Artemisa |
Natalya will shout half as loudly as the others, her father might be from a long line of noble strigoi, but as she has no way of knowing she'll play safe and declare herself half, enough for membership on the team at least ;p
Gareth de Lockhart |
I am still here!
Mardavig |
At the moment it is just the three of you, plus Wolf. Your bards have yet to respond.
Garruum was enthralled by Marlani, so at her absence it's unlikely he would support the party by putting himself in harm's way. Unless Marlani returns he would return to his outpost in the swamps, encouraging you to visit him if you wish to, (although he is not overly fond of those who killed his slurk).
Eusebiens Jens, your taciturn former bandit ally will accompany you into the ruins.
Natalya Artemisa |
Not sure whether the campaign is still active, but regardless...
Merry Christmas!
Big Sister Natalya wishes you and your loved ones a wonderful festive holiday, wherever you are I hope you're having a good time :)
Lorald Orlovsky |
Not to nitpick considering combat is over. But Mardavig is there something about my set up that makes you misunderstand it. All of Lorald's shots hit according to your posting of the defenses yet you said he missed. Should I change the set up or was it holiday daze?
Also has everyone kept track of HP, abilities, and such. I am pretty sure after the four towers we are not in the best of shape to take on what could be a powerful monster.
Going to check Lorald, myself as I have lost track of his hp. Happy I am not a caster this time. xD
Edit- Lorald is at HP 24/43 and that is one ugly guy, glad we wasted him.
