In my personal opinion it seems like Echoes of Caitlin and Burns with Righteous Fury are already effectively covered by his other aspects (Bet You Can't Save Just One and Warrior-Bard of Old respectively). They are certainly different, but I don't know if they're different enough to keep them from being the same compel/tag any time they come up. Just a thought.

Well, like I said, I sort of see Echoes not to be about the guilt -- but about the loss -- which is why I figure it (a) ties Kenneth to Cait's family, and (b) will mess with his relationships with women (the same relationships Romantic Poet's Soul tries to set him up for).
However, yeah, Righteous Fury seems to overlap with Warrior-Bard of Old, and, for that matter, Bet You Can't Save Just One. I just figured it was a good way to get a Scot's temper into the game, but at the same time... well, I'd rather not have a 2-dimensional character.

Oh I think if the ghoul had gotten away with the kid ALL of our character's would have been saying some very nasty things. :)
(And Danny's a very creative curse-er!) :)
Hm,...Well, I like the way you have explained all of your aspects, but as has been pointed out, there is a certain amount of overlap.
Personally, that doesn't bother me at all.
But look at my aspects (which I should probably re-visit now that I've played him a bit) and while I've tried to keep them distinct, there is also quite a bit of overlap in there too. I mean, there are only so many performance-orientated aspects one can invent after all. ;P
I'd be happy at taking a shot at re-titling some aspects for you (just suggestions mind you!) when I'm not so bone-dead tired I'm falling asleep in front of the PC! :)
Perhaps a fresh view and slightly different name might help get across what you're trying to do/say?
I'm trying to remember the way it was explained to me originally. Basically I remember the biggest thing to an aspect being, it should be double sided. It should be easy to self-tap, but also easy for the GM to tap as well. (Ergo Danny's 'Fae Luck' which is definitely 2-sided, versus the original title of 'Better lucky than good' which is tappable, but Fae Luck is SO much easier to compel.
Which I think you have done,... MAybe I'll look at this again tomorrow.
Good Night :)

The more I think about it, as much as I love it (and the wording), I think my best bet is to lose BET YOU CAN'T SAVE JUST ONE -- I can shift the emotional guilt I envisioned there into ECHOES OF CAITLIN -- and then monster-killing, protecting the innocent falls into BURNS WITH RIGHTEOUS FURY, which also gives me my Scot's temper.
While there's still some overlap back to the High Aspect, I think that's just kind of natural.
Which means I would have an open aspect slot. My first thought would be something to link back to his mother, but I already have a family aspect.
Will think on this some more.
Also, interactive character building is just...well, cool.

Ragadolf |

Heh. Yeah, it is isn't it? :)
I love the title 'BET YOU CAN'T SAVE JUST ONE', But I also like your explanation of how it fits into the Caitlin aspect. (OR, would the 'Echoes' fit better into the 'Can't save just one'? Now that I dwell on it, that works for me too.)
Of course, this IS coming from a guy who simply could not decide on a title for one of his aspects, and so i left it with TWO names! :)
So take it as you will. :D

And rather than come up with a good new aspect for Kenneth, my brain instead realized how spiffily the rules would allow for a Jeckyll and Hyde sort of character -- 2 points of ritual (crafting) gets makes you a fun alchemist, and then you could use something like the Lycanthrope template to build yourself a "Hyde" persona with Inhuman Strength and Recovery.
And no, I'm not wanting to switch, I'm just sort of impressed with how easily the concept fits into the rules.... though I think I would almost have to name the character Tom Jackman -- especially with the whole minor shifts into Hyde form (I blame Steven Moffat and James Nesbitt for that).

I know I play a Lycanthrope in Jericho/Ryuko's game it is really interesting to have 2 sets of skills and differing powers. But the ritual casting and potions sounds fun. I really like the freedom of the system - you can be whatever you wish, no leveling, or trying to shoe-horn exactly what you want in.

Tilnar |

That's the thing, Ritual: Crafting is a -2 refresh and means you make potions (and enchanted items). Really, you wouldn't even (necessarily) need conviction or discipline, since it's all Lore for crafting. Dropping a point into refinement gets you 4 more enchanted item slots, for a total of 8 (before you even look at swapping those slots for potions).
Inhuman Might and Recovery are -4, down to -3 for Human Form, and to -2 if you take involuntary/rare change.
Yeah, the system's just spiffy for the degree of mix and matching you can do to make a character that agrees with your mindset.

I think it's back to Trips manor house, with Aximeus waiting for the twins father (i have a little exchange planned for that) and then catching up to the rest of you, of course if anyone wants to do anything before you leave feel free. (Or I can ret-con it as well)
I am leaving it up to you to do the journey, there. Grillian and Jericho you are free to awaken when ever you want.
EDIT: Clear your stress tracks as the combat is over and you get to take a breather.

OK, If Axe should stay there and 'guard' the girls until their ride home arrives, Then Danny will of course carry Axe's armor and sword away with them. Axe can cell him when the girls are gone and meet up wit them.
I REEEEELY want to get a rule book now! (Again!)
The mix-maatching your talking about with the pc's sounds like fun!
Reminds me of the old Champion's System (Hero System) Point based, you can buy ANYthing, just had to describe it. (Ice bolts, fire blasts and laser eyes were all 'Energy Blasts', just with different descriptions.) I even played a wonderful 3-year long home campaign in Fantasy Hero (same system). Ah,... memories,... :)

Grillan Avaruvex |

My apologies to everyone for my unannounced (and prolonged) absence. Life went off the rails for a bit, starting with a totaled car, progressing into the discovery that a room-mate had been stealing the rent payments, and then careening wildly over a cliff. In dealing with it all, the site and game kind of fell off my radar.
If folks want me back, I'd be happy to pick up Grillan again. If not... well, I can totally understand having reservations about bringing me back in, and respect them

Ryuko |

By the way, I'm aware Jericho is coming off as stand-offish and acting like a bit of a self-righteous prig. This is intentional. The guy has been hurting for awhile and has a chance at payback. Unlike Harry Dresden, Jericho isn't introspective enough to realize the darkness inside himself that this revenge is bringing out, and as a player I will not be angry if someone calls Jericho out on his behavior.

hey guys, with this new job, I'm having trouble keeping up with this game. I'll try to read up this weekend and see what I can do...Mostly because it's an 8to6 monday-thursday 8-12 friday...great hours, but a bit rough to keep up a PbP game on those hours. Especially after 11 hours away from the family, I sit down eat dinner with them and then veg out before bed...just happen to forget about it a lot lately...
Also, I got Old Republic, so that's eating a bit of time...LOL

Xaaon of Korvosa |

Yeah, I think a re-cap might help, I barely logged on to the computer over the weekend, only played an hour of TOR tonight even. Took the boys to Strategicon on Sunday and it wiped me out cuz we stayed so late and I had to drive back.
FATE is one of my favorite systems, and Dresden one of my favorite bok series,so I'd liek to keep up LOL
