"You shoud stab 'em," the smallest ysoki child squeaks, "like this!" She mimes holding Diedre's sword and pretends to stab one of her siblings in the stomach before opening them to the neck. The sibling, for his part, play-acts a violent death. "You'll get double points that way!"

Sensing they have an advantage, the combatants from the other side of the docking bay press their attacks.

Despite the chaos of battle, none of the potential Starfinders are struck by a laser blast from the east side of the docking bay.

Once Miraj learns this is not a terrorist attack on civilians but a fight between two gangs, he begins to run, pretending as he goes he needs to favor his left leg. As he moves, he calls out, "Dierdre! Get out of zee crossfire!" He heads toward the baggage outflow conveyor. Near him is an old ysoki matron frozen by the chaos; Miraj slaps her shoulder as he passes and gestures for her to follow him.

As he moves, his right hand slips under his overcoat to caress Alice in preparation for drawing her. He waits until he is almost to the cover of the baggage area. Then he slips Alice out of her holster, keeping it under the cover of his coat. No point in advertizing zat you are prepared to fight, he thinks.

Moving up to the cover recently left by Diedre, crouching slightly to keep more of his large frame in the cover that it provides. He raises his laser rifle, but does not yet fire.

Instead, he half closes his eyes and tilts his head up slightly. Thinking of the majesty and power of the stars, he focuses on his magical abilities to bring said power against his enemies. Appearing along his horns, faint patterns of stars flicker into existence. As quickly as they appeared, they begin moving towards the tips of his horns. Reaching their destination, they coalesce into a pair of small, faintly glowing spheres. Suddenly opening his eyes fully and lowering his head, the two spheres fly off towards one of his foes, striking unerringly.

The tall woman waits for what she thinks is an opening in the chaos, and slips forward, coming to a halt beside the kiosk in the center of the docking bay.

To her right, a group of children huddle with an adult. No good with kids in the best of circumstances, she simply gives them a nod of acknowledgement, hoping they have the sense to stay where they are. She then turns, takes aim at the nearest assailant, takes a deep breath with her finger on the trigger, lets it out, and... Fire.

If you were already planning to move and then attack, and weren't going to use your swift action for anything else, then you might as well try a trick attack. It doesn't cost you anything extra. A trick attack is a full-round action but but it includes a move if you want.

Aureum's laser blast joins the cloud of death in the docking bay, and her precision is rewarded by a grunt of pain from the rough-dressed ysoki behind the crate as a burning hole blossoms in his overcoat.

"Who's the freak with the spear?!?" Jehir's deadly attacks seem to be causing some confusion, and he draws the focus of one of the remaining combatants on the west side of the docking bay. The other, seeing Orodolwa steadily approaching, fires on the monologuing vesk.

The half-elf, looking much more confident than she feels, runs forward, swinging her sword wildly. The human combatant, not expecting an attack from this angle, stares in surprise as Diedre opens a gash across his chest.

Diedre - I'm gonna let it slide this time ('cause it doesn't really matter), but a charge action needs to be in a straight line, cannot pass through any squares that would impede motion (like a person), and impart a -2 penalty to the subsequent attack. Drop a post in Discussion if you have any questions.

Orodolwa wrote:

Orodolwa tries to strike the man who fired on him, but a large air handling unit gets in the way, deflecting his attack. The wreath of electrical energy snakes out across the metallic surface for an instant before snapping back to Orodolwa's hands.

Orodolwa - FYI, the attack has missed but the spell has not been expended. You may attempt a new attack roll next round. When (if) the spell finally lands, I'll take your original damage roll (no need to reroll that every time).

Orodolwa's burning condition: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Orodolwa - you don't need to make a saving throw to attempt jolting surge again (the spell has already been cast). At the beginning of your turn, however, you will take an additional 2 fire damage (not listed above), and you get a free DC 12 Reflex save to end the burning condition. If that fails, you may either continue to burn or you may take a full round to stop, drop, and roll, which grants you a second check with a +4 bonus.

"Wow, that was impressive," Diedre says to Jehir as she witnesses his martial display.

She glances around at the remaining combatants, noting the eastern gang member's retreat back to cover. Seeing Kreel lying on the ground she frowns.

"Damn! That's my bread and butter," she says patting Jehir on the shoulder and then moving toward the prone dwarf.

A burning vesk with an arcane touch may be one thing, but a heavily wrapped kasathan figure with black blood dripping from several wounds as red blood drips from both of his weapons is too much of a sight - the combatant tucked by the air-handling unit (L2) breaks from cover and makes a run for it.

I'm gonna rule that any item that could conceivably be holstered can be drawn like a weapon, so yeah - you've totally got that fire extinguisher in one hand.

As Orodolwa, Aureum, and Entiren crowd around the fallen dwarf, it becomes evident that his soul has passed from this plane. Aureum is able to identify a laser wound to the side of his neck, and once it's spotted, Entiren traces the trajectory, determining that Duravor was likely dead before he hit the floor.

As Entiren performs a funeral rite over the body, small points of light gently flicker into existence between his horns, floating through the air and collecting above Duravor, until a miniature night sky twinkles above him like a starry tent. For a moment, the wrongfulness of his death disappears and the grimy docking bay disappears. When the lights fade and Entiren stands, nothing has visibly changed, but the dwarf seems to be more at peace.
