Hey Jelani! You found me!
Well my friends... I am going away on business. I won't be able to access the pazio forums for a while. Jelani knows about this. I won't be able to play until I get back and I will fade into the background, but I plan to contribute when I return.
-Kahnjar

Telemakos Ogeo Krostumolis |

No worries, it was mostly flavour.
On that subject, DM Jelani, do I get to see what we're fighting thanks to the fire elemental or not? Shouldn't it provide light like a small fire?

Khanjar Tarruk |

Morning Guys, I had some things come up. Long story short.. I am back home and have access to the forums. Not sure how long it will last for, but while I am here no need to get e-mail updates. I'll let you guys know if things change.

Corridan Valkeri |

I am going to be out of town for the next three to four days, give or take a day. I may be able to get to a computer or post from my phone, but I cannot say for certain. I will try my best though. If needed, please DMPC Corridan. :-)

DM Jelani |

Remind me to either kill all of your soldiers or come up with evil ways to separate you from them in the future, and to never put 20 enemies with mounts in again. Trying to psyche myself up to update this is worse than sitting down to write an essay for college.
Update should be incoming at some point over the next several hours though. (x_x)*

Devram Coates |

Well, after this battle (which, yeah I imagine to be a bear to handle), we should be able to do a few things. We'll have some intel on the natives around us and better understand how to defend against them. Hopefully, we can get some scouting to decide on a permanent base and begin permanent defenses. Once that's at least started, we can start scouting and clearing hexes, which should give us even more margin for safety as well as get us away from the mercs to keep encounters just Agent centric.
Not saying we might not need to defend again, but hopefully this becomes more encounters during exploring.

Emerion "Nim" Nimlaidas |

Well if we capture one or more alive, Emerion can learn alot via diplomacy or detect thoughts. Also once we get settled in at our intended BoO then he can also set up traps both magical and mundane around the base. Next time a war party comes their going to lose some before they even reach the walls. : )

Emerion "Nim" Nimlaidas |

Hopefully we can capture one or more enemies. Then find out where their from and either come to a truce or let them know we are not to messed with. A day time raid of our own could be launched. Who knows they may have light weaknesses or just be nocturnal so we can catch them sleeping in turn.
Emerion has charm and thought detection spells plus their is always the treasure map spell which could lead to what they value. Just some ideas.

Penance, Servant of Abadar |

Adding to the computer woes...
Okay, may be slow for a bit. Laptop adapter abruptly gave up the ghost and I'm on my last two hours of battery power at the moment. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon. GMPC as needed.

Yamakawa Shinjuko |

Computer woes continue. Finally nailed down what is causing the problem, though: liquid cooling system has apparently given out. My CPU is not well pleased (nor am I).
Ordered a replacement, which I'm hoping will be here and subsequently installed by Tuesday. In the mean time, my presence will be less than stellar. Basically, it will only be when I can sneak in updates while at work for the next couple of days.

Penance, Servant of Abadar |

Just verifying... you said level up to 6? Did you mean 5?
Meanwhile, I don't suppose anyone has a healer's kit? *puppy eyes look*
If we have to use potions to get Penance conscious, so be it, but I hate to use up anyone's limited consumables which we have no guarantee of being able to restore for a month of in game time. But, if we're relying on natural healing/Heal Skill, we're looking at multiple days before he even wakes up.
Penance himself is out of potions now, alas.

Emerion "Nim" Nimlaidas |

Well you know if I make a choice now that I wanted to hold off on til level 7 I could cast cure light wounds after level up. But I would lose out on the bonus feat of a 5th level wizard.
Thoughts?

Penance, Servant of Abadar |

I certainly don't want to throw off anyone's build plans for the sake of getting my character conscious. ;)
But in an overall big-picture sense, we are light on healing, because Penance is the only divine caster (and it's a bit of a stretch to call him that, I was originally only intending to have him self-buff, and I'm slowly changing that idea since it seems we may need it). Even so, a pally as the sole healing in a party creates a premium in that regard.
I'm kicking myself hard for not having thought to propose we pool funds for a wand of CLW, back at the start of the game. Not just for this current situation, but in general. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20.
Obviously we can order one, but that means, what, 2 months in-game before we get it?

Telemakos Ogeo Krostumolis |

I have 2 scrolls of infernal healing, and while I'm sure Devram may appreciate them, I'm iffy about Penance...
Level 5? Yey! Perhaps after 2 levels I get to use Arasmes, and now he can fly!

Telemakos Ogeo Krostumolis |

Yeah, I know. I'm having a ton of fun with the summoned monsters actually, I'm a bit regretting not making Arasmes a skill-genie rather than a fight-genie and going Master Summoner.
Anyway... a question.
If I were to give Arasmes the 2 ep version of flight, do I have to give him wings? Or can we re-skin the flight as wingless, but subject to all the restrictions of the 2 ep version (no flight when restrained, etc...)?

Telemakos Ogeo Krostumolis |

Also, I don't really know how summon eidolon works. Can I use the summon monster spell-like ability while the eidiolon is summoned via spell? Does Arasmes gets the benefit of Augment Summoning while summoned via spell?

Telemakos Ogeo Krostumolis |

If someone gets Telemakos' attention IC, he can do one of two things:
-use a scroll of infernal healing (and that is fantastic on a paladin)
-summon a lantern archon who can give Penance temporary hit points. Does that help? I don't know. Maybe. But it shows off the versatility of a summoner, and Telemakos would love that. EDIT: Nope, used up all of my summon SLAs for the day scouting with the air elemental.

Iliante |

If someone gets Telemakos' attention IC, he can do one of two things:
Iliante screaming Medic and Penance is down didn't get Tel's attention. Does he need to be dragged kicking and screaming? ;D
Infernal healing is perfect for when a paladin is unconscious and doesn't have a choice.
cheers

Penance, Servant of Abadar |

Given alignment isn't such a big deal in this campaign anyway, I can actually see Penance being okay with it even were he conscious, for a given value of okay. Abadar's a god of gettin' stuff done and building societies, not necessarily lofty devil-fightin'. Heck, the wiki entry for Abadar states that he 'cultivates a strong alliance with Asmodeus'.
But that's all fluff-debate. I certainly have no objections as a player to you IHing his face!
And thanks for the CLW, Devram *salutes*

Devram Coates |

I think we need someone with a decent Wis or high Int to take the Heal skill. Even if it's just a few points, it gives us a good chance on take 10 or 20 to help heal things like Disease or Poison. Without a primary divine caster, those things could be a bear to overcome. It would also help in cases like this where Long Term Care could really boost healing on a down day.
Or we find a NPC Hedge Witch out here.

Penance, Servant of Abadar |

And in the light of all this discussion, I suppose that instead of the 5th-level feat of Diehard I'd intended, I should pick up a healing-related feat instead.
Currently considering:
Extra Channel (2x more channels a day; note that I'm not really intending to take Selective Channel, so it'd be pretty much either out-of-combat healing, or total-emergency-healing)
Extra Lay on Hands (2x more LoH a day, does what it says on the tin)
Greater Mercy: (additional 1d6 of healing when I lay on hands if target is not currently sickened)
Reward of Life: (when I LOH for others, I get a tiny bit of healing myself as well)
Anyone got opinions on which of these gives us most heal-bang for our buck? I'd really prefer to keep most of Penance's feats focused on melee survivability, but I'm happy to take at least one feat to keep us all on our feet.

DM Jelani |

I just started playing a gnome master summoner with a rogue-like eidolon and it's been great fun so far even at level 1.
Yeah, you can take away the wings as long as the mechanics of wings are still there. Including stuff like losing altitude when hit if you don't succeed on a fly check, etc. Make sure you pump his fly skill.

You can't use your summon monster SLA. I never thought of it before, but yes, I suppose Augment Summmoning would work on Arasmes while he was summoned via summon eidolon.
