RDM - all
how are overstepping posts handled?
I.E. If I post Weehawk doing something, and someone else simultaneously posts an action that would directly conflict Weehawk's action of some sort - how is that resolved?
Just wondering

As a DM, I usually take whichever option would be most disadvantageous to the party. Either that or go by alphabetical order of the poster's names.
-------
Or, on a more realistic notion:
Hopefully the second poster will notice that someone else just posted and either change their post, or leave a comment to the first poster regarding the conflict.
In the worse case scenario, usually the DM tries to discern which choice the players would have made, or posts and asks the two players to agree on a specific course of action.

Before we started book two, I asked each of the players to reformat their character sheets using the outline I provided (based on an old Shadowlands campaign I was in). That format included a section called "Instincts." I use that, in combination with play style (what your character consistently does) to determine what would be the most logical event to actually occur. So, since Alexa normally remains observant and quiet (her instincts include "Always - allows her companions to lead discussions. She will speak when needed, but rarely if ever will initiate discussions."), I'll assume another PC spoke first.
If players consistently do not pay attention or play outside of their instincts, I very well may take the path that is the most disadvantageous to the party, but I try not to do that. I'm not in the business of punisher players. I will, however, have my NPCs react in the most logical and predictable way. You're in Ustalav, for example, and most NPCs are going to be very worried about anything they see as unpredictable, strange, odd, off, or weird - including you.
I tend to run nations and regions as I would experience reality. Very few people are world travelers, have seen other lands, speak multiple languages, or know much about the world beyond their small towns and cities. Some folks live in constant fear of the unknown and I fully intend to run this particular campaign just like that.
I also expect PCs to use their skills to determine information, too (and not just ask the GM for answers). I'll provide as much information about your immediate environment as possible, but I expect folks to use their skills, too.
If I make a ruling that is NOT consistent with your intentions, I'll probably make it up to you later on, too. So, I aim to be fair (and I think I am). But I'm not wearing kid gloves, either.

Madeline... I don't know if you've noticed, but you're in Ustalav. People jump to all sorts of false conclusions (remember, Professor Lorrimor was accused of Necromancy just because he visited the prison) based on all sorts of evidence - real or imagine. Now, remember that Smith doesn't "look" normal (he's a fantastical creature, after all) and, as far as I know, you have taken a ten on your disguise skill check (you reminded me a few posts back that you have a +6; giving you a 16). That means that I'm going to make checks against Smith's "disguise" as long as you persist in parading him around town - a town filled with people ready and willing to accuse you of witchcraft. Also remember that if you send Smith to interact with NPCs, his disguise may not work, because he's not a natural creature. While I'm certainly okay with you keeping him out in town, I'm going to play my NPCs appropriately - as paranoid, close-minded, and scared citizens of Ustalav. And if I do beat a 16 on a Perception skill check, well, someone probably will see through Smith's disguise and realize he's one of the many horrors that lurk beyond the safe reality they all know and love.

On more than one occasion, I have typed up a big statement or discussion, only to realize that is not really how an observant quiet Druid would respond. I don't even want to know how many of these I have deleted.

My character lived in the town for a year or two a few years ago, I figured that if she had serious concerns, these would have been brought out. Either way, it will be fun to role play the paranoia and hopefully the quiet observant one can keep the talkative charismatic ones from sticking their feet too far into their mouthes.

I don't know if any of you have read Rule of Fear, but I'm running this whole nation in line with the book's description of its people, cities, and so on.
Yea - I have read through some of it. It's why I figured even a fairly "normal" race like half-elf that would be over-looked in most places might be looked upon suspiciously in Ustalav's hinterlands.
I think it's made for an interesting character story to see average NPCs react to Smith. Given how long we've been running this thread, I think we have all forgotten how strange Smith can appear to be. In character, I look at it as we have simply gotten used to his presence; unlike everybody else.

I always pictured Smith as this imposing humanoid heavily swathed in layers of cloth ala some sterotypical desert tribesman, with only his eyes showing. If one looks close one can see that said eyes are not quite human, maybe a weirdly shaped pupil or slight glow, and the skin around the eyes is gray and ridged like that of an elephant or rhinocerous (all that natural armor). Plus, if you're going with the build I presented a while back, he's toting a fauchard now, so even if they don't notice he's human he has a big, obvious weapon and is obviously foreign; that is enough right there to earn him some distrust!

Welcome back to the U.S.!
That actually works well for me in this case. Superbowl weekend is a very busy time for me, and I was going to mention that from Feb 1-3rd I was probably going to be absent from posting.

Discovered a cool new Druid archetype last night. The Treesinger. It only changes a few abilities, but turns a druid from an animal lover into a plant lover. Great flavor and looks like it would be fun to play.

Alexa Grunwald |

Yeh - I would have to read up on them, but there are so many cool options for Wild Shaping into plants.
One thing that sucks is that there are no real Summon Nature's Ally options for plants. That would be really fun. I suppose that one could easily find plants with equivalent CR to other SNA options. I would have thought with a cool Archetype like this, someone would have at least spent some time adding a few options for summoning.
A good template for this might be the Summoner(Shadow Caller) option for Fetchlings.

Trying to figure that out - it is Elf only, however, a half-elf qualifies as both a human and an elf for all purposes. So, I think that a half-elf would qualify allowing you to use the flexible stat bonus on Wisdom.

Alexa Grunwald |

That is only for "traits" from my reading, not qualifying for specific archetypes.
And then there is the fact that PF has after careful consideration decided to have "racial traits" which are traits only available to one race, and "racial traits" which are specific bonuses and abilities (spell-like abilities, senses, etc) every member of a specific race has. This has always made the "Adopted" trait rather strange to me.

Lol - only took you 3 days to get over the super bowl. Now the only question is whether Seattle's title will be stripped like USC's was, the last place that Pete Carrol coached.
Rolling eyes.

Valen Stellori |

Well - more like catching up on my regular work after all the Super Bowl work.
As for Pete Carrol, yea he's not really someone I respect very much as a coach. The whole way the USC thing played out after he moved into the NFL just smells of dead fish, and Carrol's the one with the catfish in his pocket.

Alexa Grunwald |

He may be one of the most talented coaches ever, winning the national title at both the college and pro levels. At the same time, his techniques sometimes leave a bad taste in one's mouth. Just look at the polite professional players he has. One guy has incredible talent as a db, but oh boy, I do not think you would want to meet him in a dark alley (or anywhere else for that matter).
