Argan Midnight |

So we peak at the doors, stealthily, count the guards and learn how far does the light goes.

DM Yodler |

Peeking out the doors you can see the same patrol coming on a patrol, it seems as thought they are the same group. You aren't sure about the range of the bulls eye lanterns they carry.
You overhear a conversation between the two guards.
“That Blackerly is a damned thief! That game was rigged last night!”
“If it’s rigged, why do you keep going back to the gate-house then?”
“The beer’s passable.”
A laugh is heard. “Drinkin’ on duty! Damn, this place has gone to hell. Captain Callidan would have never toler-ated that crap. That’s for sure!”
“Captain Callidan … he left, what? Two years ago?”
“Almost three and since then the place has been straight down the s~$!ter. That old wizard never leaves his tower. He stays up there reading his books and petting his owl!”
“Petting his owl? Is that what they call it these days?”
The guards enjoy a bit of a laugh.

Argan Midnight |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 So close! But yes I peeked.
So, we're peeking at the doors, that leads to the top of the walls, where there's a walkway and two guards talking and moving around, and there are no light sources aside from their lanterns?
Is that on the western part or at the eastern one?

Kharn The Binder |

Percpetion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Kharn peeks out the doorway.
Hehe 'Petting his owl' indeed! Now he's pushing up daises and I'm petting his owl....... That didn't sound right even in my head. Hope none of these guys can read minds.
Kharn goes back in and looks at the others.
"The wizard apparently didn't come out of his tower much. They probably won't think it strange if he doesn't show up for a while. They also drink beer in the gatehouse, so that might give us an advantage."

Kharn The Binder |

Kharn shakes his head.
"Nothing about drinking, although one of the guards thinks that he's a cheater at cards, so they might also be distracted with a game."

Argan Midnight |

I'm going, are we all or just me and one more?

Vladamir Orlovsky |

I think the decision was to go west and seeing as the guards are heading that way we can get into ambush position.. Or Argan plan works too, its w/e

Argan Midnight |

Since I believe there are guards on both walkways, Me and Vlad are heading through the east. Eryan and Kharn are heading through the west. All stealthy and using the shadows. I'll ask Grumblejack to stay behind for a minute, and then follow us, since he's relatively noisy.
Everyone agrees?
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiinja'd! Stop doing that Vlad, I'm getting angry ^_^

Vladamir Orlovsky |

Following Argan he tries to stay quite as possible..
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 Man i cant wait for this to get better

Argan Midnight |

Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 We're noisy ^_^

Argan Midnight |

Whatever, Kharn and Eryan are taking too long to give us some input. Let's head West, which is closer, and hope the guards on the other path cannot see us. Everyone West, the ogre a little while behind.

Kharn The Binder |

Kharn will go first as quietly as possible with his greatsword ready and drawn.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 2 = 16

Eryan Duskwalker |

some people like sleeping
Eryan creeps out into the dark of the wall as the guards continue their patroll the other way.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 3 = 25

DM Yodler |

Perception: 1d20 - 6 ⇒ (4) - 6 = -2
The group quietly makes their way across the wall they make it to the northeastern tower, the waves silently crashing against the rocks below. The smell of mist in the air, along with the smell of blood. Vladamir's breath is another matter all together. When the party reaches the look out tower they hear a door open and the bantering of two guards as it opens.
Wow a negative perception roll, well they don't hear you. I'll leave it up to you to have your selves set up as you would like. After every action please make a stealth check if it seems necessary. The wall's walls are large enough to hide and provide partial cover.

Kharn The Binder |

Kharn will slide up next to the door, and have his greatsword ready to strike the last guard who comes through the door.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 2 = 16

Eryan Duskwalker |

Are we in darkness?
Eryan hides in a corner away from the door. Leaving the physical combat up to the others, he prepares to use his highly more useful divine gifts to disarm any guard that tries to sound the signal horn.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 3 = 16

Argan Midnight |

I don't think there's a door where we are, Kharn. You should step back a bit.
Argan uses the shadows of the lookout tower to wait for the guards to get closer. He has the rapier and a dagger on his hands.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

DM Yodler |

It's just a guard tower, no roof but partial cover you can hide behind. Just a lookout turret tower. Regarding light: It's dim light so anyone that doesn't have dark vision or a way to see in the dark will take a 20% concealment roll, since you are only fighting by moonlight. Will roll Vlad's stealth to keep the motion going.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 - 7 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 7 = -1
Vladamir's Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
The Guards open and shut the door, seemingly unaware of the impending doom. The footsteps are getting louder, and the light from the lantern is slowly creeping towards the edges of the tower.
"Mitra's Grace! It's bloody cold out here. You think for once, Blackerly would give us a decent post for the night. It's not like anyone has ever broken out of this place."
"I don't mind to cold, keeps my senses in order."
"A swift kick to yarbols will keep your senses in order too."
"Just be quiet and lets finish this rotation. Only an hour or so till the shifts change."

Argan Midnight |

Argan gives the guards a couple more seconds to get closer and then he charges the northernmost guard, expecting the rest of the group to follow.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27! Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (1) = 7
Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17! Extra Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Concealment: 1d5 ⇒ 4

Eryan Duskwalker |

Eryan moves with Argan keeping his eyes on both of the guards ready to cast the instant one went for a horn.
pretty sure a 17 is a hit. Nice roll. hopefully one is down already now. Someone else charge :D

Vladamir Orlovsky |

Vlad charges after and attacks the other guard..
2H Attack+Charge-PA: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Vs FF
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
But stumbles in his movement and misses horribly..

Kharn The Binder |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Kharn sighs seeing both Vlad and Argan in his way so he drops his greatsword Free action, rages Free action and he charges the nearest guard drawing his glaive as he does so. Standard to charge, but can only move up to 40 ft.
AC is 15, HP is 14, After this round will only have 3 rounds of rage left.
Attack W/PA W/Charge: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Concealment due to night (1-79% hit); (80-100% miss): 1d100 ⇒ 49

Argan Midnight |

Thanks, it was indeed a welcome critical.
I'm used to rolling the concealment on a d5, since it's a 20% chance, meaning 1 number in 5, and the 1 really stand out as the failure, but please tell me if you want to keep a standard (what dice and what result is a miss)

DM Yodler |

Ok i'll carry over every action that goes by. Will let you take actions as a surprise round action and proceed with initiative as I roll for guards and anyone who didn't.
@kharn: you cant draw another weapon during a surprise round unless you have a quickdraw feat. Only applies to this instance of being restricted to a standard action.
Initiative:
Vladamir: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Kharn: 6 = 6
Argan: 17 = 17
Eryan: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Guards: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Eryan > Argan > Guards > Vladamir > Kharn
1-50 North, 51-100 South: 1d100 ⇒ 47
Combat - Surprise Round
Guard - North : 17 (unconscious)
Guard - South : 0
Argan rushed towards the nearest guard striking true with his rapier, sinking it deep into the flesh of the guards face. Rending and soon to follow his body fell limp to the ground. With a wet swipe of his blade he cleaned the blood and set his eyes for the other guard. Eryan brooded in the background looking ready to react to any movements of the guards, while Vladamir and Kharn followed the blood covered Argan to his victory.
You hear the clang of metal and see a signal horn roll out from underneath the northern guards uniform.
If you want Kharn you can rethink your action in the surprise round.

Argan Midnight |

Argan moves around the surprised man with ease, being reckless for believing he did not manage to get a grip of the combat, yet. He stops behind the guard and stabs this one with his rapier: I believe I'm flanking with Vladamir, since he charged in, right?
Flanking Rapier: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17! Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + (1) + 1 = 12
Concealment: 1d5 ⇒ 2
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Kharn The Binder |

Well if Argan's move took out the guard then Kharn will move to that space with the greatsword still drawn, and he wouldn't have raged yet. If you will allow the retcon then Kharn will have 17 AC, and 4 rounds of rage left.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Vladamir Orlovsky |

Whatever.. I roll a 4 with every attack it seems..
"Good job.. Now lets see if we can get the drop on this card game.."

Argan Midnight |

Argan makes a quick search on the bodies, tosses them at the sea, then takes a look at the walkway to the east, and moves in with the others.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
"Let's go, before the shift changes and they begin moving around the place!"

Kharn The Binder |

Kharn quickly pulls any longbows the men may be carrying before letting the bodies be thrown over.

Eryan Duskwalker |

Eryan moves silently with the others towards the gatehouse. He also picks up the signal horn.
So close. I can smell him. He put us here. Burn him like he burned us.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 3 = 20

Argan Midnight |

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Kharn The Binder |

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 - 2 = 12

DM Yodler |

The doors open to a large stone room. This open room has two ladders up and two ladders down. This whole level has twenty arrow slits that grant vision over the bridge, courtyard and walls while providing archers with improved cover. A single well-trained, well-supplied archer could control almost the whole prison from this strategic vantage point. You cannot see anyone at the time being.
'C' for ladder to the ceiling 'F' for ladder below.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Eryan Duskwalker |

Eryan climbs up one ladder to check the roof.
"It looks like this is their only way out. We can take them one at a time as they climb out." he whispers.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 3 = 20

Argan Midnight |

"I don't think so Eryan. They can get out to the courtyard, and surround us. We want to use the surprise element!"
After Eryan has climbed back down Argan will take a peak at the closest ladder heading down.
Feather Fall for the win?
