Niversal Two Blades |

Leaving his light out because its so darn dark Niversal will put away his tools and redraw his weapons and then open the door he just unlocked and look through the door peering into the next area using the door to hide behind as he looks if possible

Terquem |
When Niversal opens the door to peek in, he sees a chair with a short back near a writing desk, and a small bed.
A figure of a gaunt man, bald on the top of his head, but with wisps of dark grey hair growing out of the back of his head sits in the chair with his back toward the door.
His head turns slowly toward the door, and his face is like that of a dead man. When the man's eyes meet Niversal's, he seems to fade into nothing but a shadow

Surprise Round…
The strange man in the chair dissolves into a shadowy dark apparition and floats up off of the chair and moves across the room toward the south wall. The shadow passes through the wall right before Niversal's eyes and when it emerges on the other side it shouts at the people it sees
Get out of my house!
The creature is not surprised. Niversal is surprised. The Wraith moves into the room with the furniture – and then Round 1 begins
Round 1…

Niversal Two Blades |

Niversal will pull as a move action from his haversack a tindertwig tied to a smokestick and as a standard action ignite the twig which ignites the smokestick which instantly creates a ten foot by ten foot smoke area in which he will stealth

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

Round 1
"I think I've held on to you long enough," Zae says hurriedly placing the tiger statue in her hands on the floor and tapping it on the head while keeping an eye out as the shadowy creature roils into the room.
With a shout of some ancient or possiblly made up word the statuette leaps to life releasing Zae's faithful companion, Kamastra.

Keryth Tarathiel |

Round 1 Init 21
As the apparition emerges from the wall, Keryth instantly recognizes it for what it is, and the danger it represents. Wraith! Magic missile and other force effects, divine energy or magic weapons only! he recites as he backpedals towards the door the group came in from. And that smoke won't help you Niversal! It can see your lifeforce!
What do you mean your house? Keryth inquires of the spirit while at the same time calling upon the power of one of his pearls, ready to cast a spell should the wraith attack anyone or approach Keryth. (SA Readied action to cast magic missile)

Round 1…

Keryth – 21

Wraith – 19
Ballar – sometime next week, maybe
Niversal disappears in a small cloud of smoke that suddenly erupts from where he is standing
Keryth addresses the apparition, only to see that it is headed right toward him with outstretched hands. When the creature does not respond to his Question, and appears to be coming dangerously close, Keryth releases a volley of small dark magical darts that sail across the short distance between the two. The missiles strike the creature and tear at it’s ghostly body leaving trails of dark eldritch smoke in the air.
Seeing the creature intent on closing the distance between itself and Keryth, Zaehyra releases kamastra from her bag. The large cat is startled at first, surrounded by chairs and tables, the companion quickly crouches into a proper fighting stance.
Undaunted by the attack of force missiles, the monster closes in on Keryth

Drawn back to reality by the sound of incantations and Keryth's rapid commands, Ballar turns to see a cloud of smoke where he'd thought Niversal should have been and a phantom menacing the chamber. Taken aback, the dwarf's bushy red eyebrows furl in confusion, Oi! Did tha think jus'speak in our comm'n tongue?!
Leaving his question to hang in the air, the dwarf moves to close the distance between himself and the wizard while sternly addressing the wraith, Well, tha's no way ta treat ya guests spirit! Taking up his silver tankard with his free hand, the dwarf raises the mug and depresses the lever thereby opening the ornate lid, May Cayden's breath edify tha error o'ya poor manner's! The crisp refreshing sound of the first bite from an apple cuts the air quickly followed by a fragrant, yet chocolaty bouquet of brewed malt (plus a special mix of grains), which fills the room. Oh, tha's a new one tha! Can ya smell tha wee hint o'cocoa? Mmmmm.

Round 2, wrap up, almost
Thinking his dagger passed harmlessly through the ghost like figure, Niversal is taken aback for a moment, but then the creature groans and reaches behind itself as if it has been cut deeply
Zae launches a volley of magical missiles which strike the creature on the side as it is feeling for the wound in its back. While Keryth steps back quickly and begins casting a spell, which he shapes into something unlike it was meant to be to form a protective armor around his body.

Keryth Tarathiel |

Mage armor not cast yet. It is my understanding that it is a full round action to switch spells. I will need a SA yet to cast the spell.
And I'm not sure who is providing Niversal with flanking. Nobody has been in base to base with the Wraith (this round or last) other than Keryth, who does not threaten as he has no melee weapon in hand. :P

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

Zae draws her wands of magic fang and imbues Kamastra's claws with vital energy which Kamastra picks up on his cue to attack, swatting at the wraith form like it were a moth.

Round 2 Init 2
With not much else at his disposal to affect his beasty, Ballar shakes up his tankard in hopes of generating a bit more power. Calling upon his deity, Tha pow'r o'Cayden compels ya! Ya ill temp'rd git! the dwarf presses the lever once again and the frothy aroma of fresh ale fills the chamber.

Round 3…
Before the apparition can flee, Zaehyra taps Kamastra with a wand, and sparkles appear on the great cat’s claws
With one might swipe of a sparkling claw, the apparition is destroyed, breaking apart into many threads of shadowy essence before dissolving into nothingness
the monster dissolves away into nothing, apparently defeated

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

"Good vibrations Ballar. This Cayden fellow you talk about so much must be something." Zae says walking over to Kamastra to give him a celebratory petting.

Niversal Two Blades |

Niversal nods his thanks to the group and moves into the room where the apparition appeares from and will search the room for anything of value
where is my precious: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Keryth Tarathiel |

We were extremely lucky it didn't touch any of us. The touch of a wraith severely damages one's vitality permanently. Only powerful magic can restore it. Seeing as how we aren't sure where, or even when, we are and have no idea when we might be returning to familiar territory, such an injury would have proven costly.
Moving to follow the others he adds, I hope there aren't any more of them down here...

Ballar Fargrim |

Grateful his vital areas are still intact, Ballar adjusts himself, Nasty bit'o business tha.
Agreed Master Keryth. Taking a sip from his water skin the crisp sound of a bag of nachos crackles. Munching happily on some cheese flavored treats, Ballar turns to offer a few of the snacks to his companions before taking up a position in near the unlocked door and the hallway.

Terquem |
The smell of spicy cheese fills the air in the storage room as Niversal disappears into the room beyond. Slowly the others follow him toward the open door.

Zaehyra Sillaesa |

"I think the next door would be the logical step, but I'm no expert on whatever it is we are doing."

Ballar Fargrim |

Clasping shut his bag of nachos, the Drunk god's emissary wipes loose the cheesy powder from his fingers, Noth'r door? There's plenty ta choose from already! The dwarf motions south to the unlocked and as yet unopened doorway as well as the open passage he'd been watching. Still, not wanting to let the group become too thinly split, Ballar makes his way into the wraith's study then looks cross-eyed at the thief. You do yar thing an Ah'll do mine. Tapping into a small fraction of the divine stream available to him, Ballar's eyes glaze as they peer into the realm of magic and enchantments.
Casts Detect Magic to search the study

Terquem |
At first it almost escapes him. Ballar scans the room quickly, concentrating on the fine art of “seeing” the peculiar auras associated with magic. He looks across the desk and chair, and then across the bookcase, and at first sees nothing, but when he looks one more time at the books, there it is. On the third shelf, which is the second from the top, in the line of seven books propped against one edge of the bookcase and held in place by a humble wooden bookend, the third book from the left has a faint aura of conjuration that seems to be coming from something inside of the book itself.

Ballar Fargrim |

Ah-ha! Ballar reaches up to the third shelf and grasps the glowing book. Holding it in his hand he lets the book fall open then thumbs the pages until he gets to the source of the aura.
Spellcraft - What sort of trickery is this?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Niversal Two Blades |

Niversal watches the dwarf enter and cast the spell wishing he could himself do such a thing and then smiles and nods when something of value is found in the room.

Terquem |
The book opens to a place setting about halfway through the book. There between the pages is a long, slim, bluish-green feather.

Ballar Fargrim |

Taking up the bluish-green feather, Ballar's brow furls in puzzlement as he examines it. For lack of knowing what to do, the dwarf first tries shaking it in the air then blowing along it's rachis sending the barbs fluttering. Feigning going into a trance the dwarf's voice becomes flat and monosyllabic, A token. Of strong... er, magics. Loosing his focus Ballar finishes his 'trance' with a question, Major Creation? With no more ideas coming to mind of what its purpose might be, Ballar shrugs, Oi Keryth! Found'ya a new quill ta jot down ya scribblings! Turning to the conjurer Ballar hands the elf the plume then turns back to the book, scanning the page upon which the strange item was found for clues.
Perhaps the book can give us a hint. What sort of book is it?What is written on the pages?

Keryth Tarathiel |

Keryth takes the feather and after waving his wand over it...
spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
...says, Ah yes, this is a feather token of the [insert type] variety.

Niversal Two Blades |

While Keryth and Ballar attempt to figure out the item Niversal will put that ring on from earlier (ring of feather falling) and then move up and inspect the door in the room to see if there are traps or if it is locked
not in the jibbly bits: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Terquem |
As Ballar looks more closely at the book in his hands he immediately realizes that it is in a language he does not understand, though some of the pages do have simple line drawings of various kinds of birds.
Niversal carefully approaches the door that is on the west wall and finds that it is neither locked not trapped.

Keryth Tarathiel |

Keryth takes the feather, and after waving his wand over it, says, Ah yes, this is a feather token of the boat variety. Just toss it in water and you have temporary, but quite capable, transportation that lasts one day.
Glancing about at the current environment he adds, You never know, could prove useful, while shrugging and tucking it into his component pouch.

Terquem |
Niversal slowly opens the door and peers into the room beyond
When Niversal opens the door to the next room, a damp, cold rush of air flows into the room where the rest of the party is waiting. The smell of mildew grows strong

Ballar Fargrim |

Rubbing his eyes, Ballar looks over at Niversal, Well Ah'll give it a go lad but Ah rememb'r tha las'time we encount'r'd cold an mildew. Tha was a tricky creature tha was. Tri'd ta suck tha heat from us! Stepping over to the doorway, but keeping away from the threshold, Ballar dips into Cayden's brew, the stream of the god's divine energy. He can almost taste the ale on his tongue as the dwarf's eyes cross then glaze, once again peering into the realm of magics.
Detect Magic. Terq, the map seems to be down

Terquem |
Looking into the room more carefully, Niversal sees a faint glowing outline in the shape of a door on the opposite wall from where he is standing. It is as if there is a part of the wall that was made to look natural but is in fact a secret door, only someone has left a light burning in the next room.
