Berenwyr
Nothing so terrifying as a woman who would voluntarily mate with you, Victor. Most likely a skeleton of the Lich Baroness' creation if I had to hazard a guess. I'd suggest bashing weapons, sharp edges don't do much against bone. Perhaps I can draw it to you. Say when.
Berenwyr prepares to conjure up an acidic dart.
Victor Hancock
He chuckles, "Just a joke guys. Alright, well lets get to it then" He smirks as he makes his way into the room, heading towards the pool and the pile of bones on the far side. He moves at a steady pace, not charging in but not lollygagging either.
20 feet into the room towards the baddy
Berenwyr
initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Berenwyr chuckles at Victor. At least you found a woman who'd have you. I'm still making use of my "mage hand."
A glowing green dart forms in Berenwyr's hand. He moves within 30' of the pile of bones, then lobs it towards the disordered mass.
attack vs. touch AC: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
acid damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Acid Dart 6/7 remaining for the day.
Victor Hancock
Victor gasps as he sees the giant crocodile, "Sheila?!?!" He then starts chuckling as he clangs his short spear against his shield, "Alright, lets get down to work"
Initiative:: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Put me south 10 feet. Since I entered first, I assume nobody would jump ahead of me, letting me get bit first.

Turn 39 (3 of 6) round 1 (beginning, everyone is Flat Footed)
As soon as you inch your way into the Chamber, the pile of bones on the floor rattles, and stands up off of the ground. It is a large Skeletal Crocodile. With a loud echoing “snap-snap” it slams its jaw closed over and over again as it lumbers away from the pool toward you.
Skeletal Crocodile Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Skeletal Perception?: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Teirist will not be able to "Sneak up" on the Crocodile with the stealth roll he made, but he will go first, making the Crocodile Flat Footed, for the attack, and I think that grants him sneak attack damage!
Teirist
Tierest moves to I -19 and fires a crossbow bolt at the large skeleton Croc.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
"Okay that's definitely not a snake. Why can't things just stay dead?'
Victor Hancock
Victor heads towards the lumbering pile of bones. He moves in and stabs at the croc with his short spear, hoping to break off a little if possible.
Power Attack to hit:: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 1 = 16
Damage:: 1d6 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 2 = 6
Also, aren't Undead immune to sneak attack and other precision damage?
Terquem
There are a whole lot of subtle changes from D&D to Pathfinder, like I just learned that Pathfinder Darkvision is not spoiled by other light sources, and yes to confirm, most undead do take sneak attack and critical hit damage. Also, Jerrica is right, you exited the dungeon for a quick meal at The Shady Dragon Inn, but did not rest and recover spells.
Before Victor can reach the monster, Berenwyr darts around the corner and throws a magical acid dart at the pile of bones. The bones hiss and smoke, giving off foul vapors, and this damage rouses the beast to anger.
Turn 39 (3 of 6) round 1
Tierist sprints into the room and lets go with a crossbow bolt and watches in shock as the missile passes harmlessly trough the rib bones of the huge beast.
Victor shouts a challenge and charges forward, trapping the monster where it stands. he lunges forward with his spear and feels the tip bite, but then deflect off of the bones.
Victor you realize that this monster takes reduced damage from pointy-slashy weapons!
The monster opens its huge, long, toothy mouth and bellows
"RAWR!"
all my monster go RAWR, its a thing I do :)
Jerrica stares in disbelief wondering how in the world the monster is able to make sounds with no lungs???
Jerrica and Berenwyr are up, then it is monster attack time
Terquem
Turn 39 (3 of 6) round 1
The crocodile practically leaps forward its jaws opening almost absurdly too large and snaps down at Victor in a vicious bite attack
Vicious Bite Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage if successful: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
that would be the end of the round. Berenwyr, just to make sure you didn’t miss this, but Jerrica has cast Light on her weapon. Also, Jerrica is there anything you would like to do this round?
Jerrica DeLamis
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Jerrica moves up to the rawr-a-dile, next to Victor, and attempts to bash in its toothy head with her morningstar.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6; Damage, if it hits: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Teirist
Tierest moves around Victor and scoots by Jerrica, before arriving on the left side of the beast. He then attacks with his short swords. End K22
attack main: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
attack offhand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
damage main: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
damage offhand: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Missing wildly.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

the CMD of the Rawr-idile is 19!.
The head of the skeletal crocodile swivels making a screeching noise as Tierist attempts to move past it, and takes a bite at him.
AOO Bite Bite!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Damage if Successful: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Ow! That looked like it hurt: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
and it did
Critical Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Victor takes a step into the waters of the Natural Pool, and immediately feels soothed and warm. It is not deep, near the edge, and the bottom feels stable, not muddy
Berenwyr
Berenwyr lobs another acidic dart at the skeletal croc.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 = 17 (-4 for firing into melee accounted in roll.)
acid damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Perhaps harsh language would be more effective...
Berenwyr
Absolutely. All ranged attacks against targets engaged in melee take a -4 penalty, unless you have the Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot feats. And, if one of you were in the line of fire, there could be an additional +4 to the target's AC for cover, unless I had Improved Precise Shot. Firing into melee is very difficult, unless it's a touch attack, or you have those feats.
Jerrica DeLamis
Jerrica steps back to (I,22) and raises her hands with healing light. She directs the energy towards her companions.
Channel Energy (4 of 7): 1d6 ⇒ 2
"I hope that helps!"
*frustrated grunt*
Victor Hancock
Victor smiles, "Well this thing isn't nice at all! I guess its time for plan B!" He then takes his shield and digging in his boots to the floor of the natural pool, he pushes forward with his shield, trying to bash the skeleton with brute force.
The 'B' stands for bash
Shield bash power attack to hit:: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 1 = 15
Shield bash damage:: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
Terquem
Turn 39 (3 of 6) round 2 (end of round)
Tierest stabs madly, watching in disgust as his blades find that perfect spot right between the bones.
The acid dart lands squarely on the monsters head, sizzling and causing damage to the bones.
I think that Teirist and Victor both get flanking bonuses. It doesn't help Teirist :(
Victor smashes into the monster knocking arm bones off and sending pieces of ribs flying
(the monster has taken a total of 15 points of damage)
Unable to move, the skele-rarw bites at victor and swings its tail at Teirist
Vicious Bite Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage if Successful: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Tail Swipe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Tail Damage: 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Victor takes 3 points of damage this round, Teirist has lost 14 hp this round!
Teirist
Tierest takes a deep breath and attacks with his swords, then takes a 5 foot step.J22
Attack Main Hand: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
Attack Off Hand: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 = 20
Damage Main Hand: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage Off Hand: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jerrica DeLamis
Jerrica reaches out and imparts some healing upon Teirist. "Oh, Shelyn, heal my companion's injuries!"
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
"There you go," Jerrica says, pleased with the effect.
Victor Hancock
Victor sees that Tierest is in better shape thanks to Jerrica and turns back towards the skeletal croc. He reels back and throws his weight behind another strong slam from his metal shield.
Shield Bash Power Attack to hit:: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 1 = 14
Damage:: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Berenwyr
In that case...
Berenwyr draws his sword once more as he moves forward to assist Victor's attack against the skelecroc.
aid another attack vs. AC 10: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Using the aid another action to give Victor a +2 on his attack roll.
Terquem
Turn 39 (3 of 6) round 3 – end of combat (the monster does not get a turn)
Tierist attacks, and feels the force of his blows, which would otherwise peel flesh, wasted as the blades slide along the already quiet completely peeled bones.
your off-hand attack is successful, but fails to overcome the Damage Reduction
Stepping back in utter disgust, Tierist is suddenly healed by Jerrica.
Waiting for precisely the right moment, Berenwyr lunges. Throwing his weight into Victor’s back, just as the man is about to try and smash into the monster once again. Berenwyr pushes the big fighter forward, the combined effort from the two men pays off.
Victor smashes into the Skeleton Crocodile with his shield and shatters bones, dislodging critical connections that cause the monster to come apart and fall in a heap of bone pieces on the ground.
