Jak Kato |

Jak looked ready to punch the dock worker, when suddenly the man went a little slack-jawed and let them through.
"Huh. Weird," he said to himself later.

Renlo Tacksa |

"Senator Toora? The one who gathered this lovely Separatist armada here? Who we're being paid to deliver a message to?" Renlo answered Donavaan's question, thinking, How did he not hear us talk about this on the 5 day journey to get here?
He ignored the comment about funding. If the fool couldn't keep his mouth shut, he'd likely get himself arrested or shot. Either way, they'd lose the funding as much as if he was locked up, and Renlo was experienced enough to know how to find jobs that would help cover the bills.

Jak Kato |

Jak turns to Renlo and shrugs. "It's probably for the best we keep an eye on him."
"So, yeah, kid, you're with us," he says to Donavaan.

GM Han Shot First |

Local time is approx 1900
The group crosses the balance of the landing platform to the turbolift and takes it down to the ground floor.
Even at this hour, the street is bustling with activity. There are beings of all makes and models busily traversing the street outside the space port.
After a brief pause to get your bearings you notice that the public information boards are periodically flashing messages about a gathering of the CIS senate in exile. There is a public forum set for tomorrow night at the Genteck Arena.
Otherwise, there are businesses up and down the street catering to transients. These include places to stay for the night, eating establishments, tattoo parlors, cantinas etc.
A Nikto cabbie looks your group up and down and offers a lift.
"Where are you going? I can get you anywhere in the city... or out.

Renlo Tacksa |

"We're still deciding where to go for the evening, but if you have a card with comlink info so we can call you up when we need you, I'd appreciate it," Renlo said, as they needed to figure out where the Senator was before they went anywhere.

Moroka Janis |

Moroka exchanges comm codes, putting a hand up to stop Donavaan. "Work first, fun later. No one splits up until we know where we need to go and have a rendevous afterward. We don't need anyone leading us on a chase to find our own crew."
"First things first," she says as she steps over to the cabbie. "Do you happen to know the best way to speak to Senator Toora, preferably before the public forum? We're on a bit of a timetable."

Corven Sworn |

"Yes," Corven agrees, "let us agree on a time and place to meet once we are done." He smiles as he turns to Moroka. "Then we split up. It may very well save us some time, if we get more than one thing done at the same time."
He then addresses Gotal. "I was thinking something along the lines of walking around, keeping our eyes and ears open. See what we can find out about the present situation and what the people think about it. Nothing too fancy." He shrugs. "Maybe get to know each other a little better while we are at it."

The cabbie looks a little perplexed by the question.
"I can't tell you how to get to her, much less talk to her... but I can take you over to where they are all staying. They took over the governor's mansion a couple of days ago; 30 credits for the lot of you."
Gotal of Umbara |

Gotal nods to Corven, "It is always good to know those you travel with better. We should know what to expect from one another in case a, situation arises".
Gotal looks at the cabbie and addresses him, "Is there a popular Cantina around this area open all night?"
Looking back to the others, "That can be our rendezvous point".

Gotal looks at the cabbie and addresses him, "Is there a popular Cantina around this area open all night?"
Looking back to the others, "That can be our rendezvous point".
"Depends on what kind of trouble your looking for. "Fett's Folly", "Deagan's Redoubt" and "Illusions" are all good."
The cabbie rapidly loses interest as it becomes clear that this group is not going to be paying his fair.
"Are you all going to need a lift or not."
Three Durons stroll out of the docking station and wave at the cabbie.
"How about a lift to Fett's," one says.

Gotal of Umbara |

Gotal looks to Corven and Moroka, "Let us head to the Cantina's and see what it is we pick up. We can perhaps journey there with these Duros".
Gotal turns to the Duros, "Greetings friends, do you mind if we share this transport to the Folly?"
My post assumes that it is obvious that the transport could fit us all.

Renlo Tacksa |

Turning to the cabby, Renlo says, "These guys will be taking a cab. Thanks for the info about the governor's mansion." He hands him a few credits in thanks, then motions Jak over to him as he moves off a bit.

GM Han Shot First |

The cabbie is driving an "expandable" - it'll fit you all.
The Nikto cab driver meanders to the side door of the Gloob 750 and opens it. The interior looks surprisingly large. It looks like it will fit seven passengers comfortably.
"Let's go then." He states as he steps aside.
The three Duros dock hands slide into the rear seating area while Donavaan, Gotal, Coven and Moroka move to the front two bench seats.
As soon as Moroka's trailing foot clears the door, the Nikto closes the door and rapidly moves around to the drivers station. In a few seconds the vehicle glides into traffic. Five minutes later, the driver is unloading the group in front of a rather lively looking cantina named "Fett's Folly. You pay the 30 credits, happy to be out of THAT cab; it smelled of un-bathed Nikto and stale bac smoke."
The exterior has an odd mixture of bright lights and dark background colors as well as the adobe looking covering of the building contrasted by the harsh metal support structures around the entrance.
The music that wafts from the interior is new, loud and full of a lot of deep rhythmic beats. The sounds of talking and rowdy laughter is clear as well.

Corven Sworn |

"Indeed, we shall," Corven replies with a smile as they make their way into the cantina. Donavaan appears particularly happy to be in it, going by how enthusiastically he starts to blend in.
"By all means, take this chance to stretch your legs and relax a little," he says to the noble earnestly. "Want to position yourself by the bar? After all, barmen are notorious talkers and I am quite certain you can chat one up something fierce, especially ifi t is a barwoman."
It may be a bit obvious, but basically Corven is trying to have some alone time -or its closest approximation given the place and circumstances- with Gotal and Moroka. :-P

Renlo Tacksa |

I'm waiting for Jak to respond before making my next post.

Corven Sworn |

As Donavaan moves away, making his way to the bar, Corven smiles before turning to his other two companions. "So, Gotal, Moroka," he begins, keeping his voice low, or at least as low as he can considering the noise, "is there perhaps something you may want to share with me? Or the others for that matter? Seeing as how we all appear to find ourselves in a bit of trouble, trouble that may be greater than some realize if we take into account all that talk about bounties and hefty ones at that."
He pauses momentarily before turning to Gotal specifically and adding, "That little... trick of yours with the Dock Master? Risky business that." His tone as he talks is calm and friendly, certainly non-threatening, as if he is simply having a chat with some friends in a cantina. "And I may not be the only one in our group who noticed it."

Moroka Janis |

Moroka finds a nearby post to lean on, nodding to Corven. "I'm afraid you're right, Corven. I was planning to discuss it with the rest of the crew openly before we arrived, but that bounty message gave me quite the pause."
She glances around the bar, looking for prying eyes and ears before continuing.

Gotal of Umbara |

Keeping his voice low, "More risky than being arrested here? This entire place may be obliterated within the next 72 standard hours if not sooner. Something quite sinister is and it seems has been taking place on Coruscant. The self styled Emperor in the holonet broadcast accused the Jedi Order of not only terrorist acts but of being behind this gathering. I assure you, the only members of the Order here are standing right before you.
However, we agreed to this mission for the Captain and I intend to see that we complete it before we leave, it may prove important, assuming the Senator survives what is to come. Unlike Moroka, I had no plans to reveal my identity as I did not know whether we would simply part ways after this task is complete.
You seem rather astute Corven, why do you believe the galaxy at large is swallowing this story of the Jedi so readily?"

With a smile the noble nods and sits at the bar and will order the star wars equivalent of a double shot of bourbon.
A gorgeous Zeltron female crosses the length of the bar and asks you for your order.
With a quick nod and wink she turns her back to you and reaches for a short round tumbler. Setting it on the counter, she uses a pair of tongs and drops a piece of crystal blue ice in the glass with a "clink." Reaching slightly above her shoulders she retrieves a bottle of an amber liquid and pours it over the blue ice in the tumbler. The drink takes on a greenish tinge with small swirls of amber and blue visible as the ice melts. She turns and sets the drink in front of you."That'll be five credits handsome," she says with an intoxicating voice that makes you want to give her ten.

DM POSTING TO MOVE THE STORY ALONG
Jak watches the cab glide out of sight as he steps over to Renlo.
"Well? The Governor's Mansion? That could be risky... but things around here seem to be a little chaotic. That should give us some opportunity since security will likely be chaotic as well. What are you thinking?

Renlo Tacksa |

"Well, what I'm thinking is that, once we get to the governor's mansion, we take a look at security and see how tight it is. If we think sneaking in is a bad idea, we can try just knocking on the front door. Either way, we need to make sure we don't get shot."

Corven Sworn |

"Not only during a war, but also when it ends, people need to have someone to blame," Corven replies with a shrug. "The... former Chancellor, now Emperor, had been trying his best to defend the Republic, to put an end to conflict, and the power given to him by the Senate in order to do that he accepted with a heavy heart or something to that effect, or so it all seemed. I am sure you remember the news reports that day." He smiles a bitter little smile. "For all intents and purposes, he was a good man and a noble man, again as far as appearances go. So when he declared the Jedi, an Order that, despite its public face and its message of peace, was still full of mystery and secrets, to be behind the war and the suffering, people believed him, this... great man, this man who now bears wounds and disfigurement brought on by a Jedi Master."
"And truth be told," he adds with a mirthless chuckle, "you have put your collective noses where they have not belonged time and again. You may be surprised how many find that they do not like that and how many people do not like being told what to do and how to do it by men and women in robes who think they know better."
"Just my opinion, of course. As for you two being the only members of your Order here, well, sure, but..."
He looks towards the bar, where their nobleman of a companion is talking to the barwoman. "He is Force-sensitive, you know, although I am not entirely sure he himself is aware of that. And so is the Mon Calamari, Renlo; he is not only aware, but he also... feels trained in the ways of the Force, albeit not as much as you two."

Gotal of Umbara |

Gotal sighs, "Yes, I know they are though many are, too many for the Jedi to find as younglings".
Gotal pauses for a moment, "The Younglings, I wonder what they did with the Younglings".
Unable to comprehend the horror of what truly happened he turns to Moroka, "Perhaps rescuing the Younglings would be in order. They must be locked up somewhere but to what purpose I could not guess".
Turning back to Corven, "Perhaps you are right about the view the general public has of us. Living within the Order and then serving those who sought my assistance I had never looked at it that way before. Shall we begin to learn what we can learn here and at similar establishments while the others check on the Senator? I promise you I shall not use my powers unless absolutely necessary. I am no warrior and my lightsaber I have rarely used since the war began. Only the Sith, if they even still exist, negotiate with the blade end of a lightsaber".

Moroka Janis |

"Given that perspective, I would have to say the entire war now feels very orchestrated. Masterfully so, in fact. Palpatine seems to have been quite the mastermind. I wonder, though: how in the world would a Jedi master cause him such a condition? his flesh looked...warped somehow. I've never known any weapon to cause that kind of damage; I may not have graduated, but I simply can't fathom any kind of Jedi technique that would do that."

Jak Kato |

Sorry again for the delay. Spent the weekend achy and coughing up unpleasant bodily fluids. But I'm feeling much better now. Nice in character post from the GM, btw.
"Well, what I'm thinking is that, once we get to the governor's mansion, we take a look at security and see how tight it is. If we think sneaking in is a bad idea, we can try just knocking on the front door. Either way, we need to make sure we don't get shot."
Jak nods stoically. "Short and simple. I like it."
Jak raises his hand and hails another cabbie. He then says quietly to Renlo. "If that fails, I might be able to reach out and call in a few markers from the CIS. But I'd rather that be a bit of a last resort. No sense calling attention to ourselves if we don't need to. No telling who might be willing to sell out their old friends these days."
So off to the mansion...

Renlo Tacksa |

Nodding, Renlo says, "A good thought. The less attention we draw, the better."

GM Han Shot First |

The noble will give her 6/ I've spent enough time in places like this to know when a Zeltron is using her wiles on me. he says with a big smile.
"I don't know what you're trying to imply... but you almost hurt my feelings. I would never take advantage of a drink buying customer."
She says with a wink and a smile.
"Let me know if you appreciate the drink... there's more where that came from."
She turns and trails her silky hand along the counter just in front of the smoldering drink sitting in front of Donavaan.
