Use the Force 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
I believe that one was successful, I would use a force slam but that is not exactly subtle...
Moroka Janis |
Moroka glances back to the prone figures. "We need to find the captain before this little misunderstanding escalates. Corpses don't make good character witnesses."
She then makes her way towards the sounds of the conflict, recounting the scenario in her head.
It should be alright. The captain's likely trying just to run to a safe zone, the clones are just following orders, Jaska just got hit by an errant shot...well, probably...as long as I don't have to brandish a lightsaber, things should work out just fine...
GM Han Shot First |
As the blaster shots go off, Renlo finishes the power down cycle then turns and looks at Moroka. "Blaster fire. Sounds like trouble out there. We should go check it out."
Renlo moves to the ramp and looks around outside the ship, trying to see where the blaster fire came from.
As you look around you notice several things. The ship sits on a raised pad in the center of the hanger. The pad is roughly 5 feet above the lower floor. You are about midway up the ramp to clearly look around; which is about 3 more feet. Which gives you an 8 foot height advantage.
There is a railing between the edge of the platform and the lower floor. To your left you and on the lower floor, you see two clone troopers. One is lying prone and the other looks to be preparing to fire his blaster in the direction of the door you all came in.My assumption is that you didn't walk backwards down the ramp - which would make your left towards the east side of the map. The clone is shooting in Corven's direction - but without a perception check, you you will miss this point as he's got cover from crates.
PS I added some info on the roll20 map to try to clarify what the area looks like.

Use The Force
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Fumbled Will save - he almost helped you disarm himself. :)
Renlo Tacksa |
Perception to see who the clone is shooting at: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
As the clone's blaster dropped to the ground, Renlo took aim at the clone trooper, and prepared to fire if he tried to grab it.
2 Swift actions: Aim (+1 to hit)
Standard: Readied action to shoot Clone trooper with stun blast
Gotal of Umbara |
Reminds me of the scene in MallRats where Silent Bob is trying to reach the remote and he tries to use the force and the set is jostled and the remote jumps into his hand and he thinks he has Jedi skills afterwards. Gotal is the beneficiary of less than skilled enemies but I'll take it!
Corven Sworn |
Corven once again fires at the remaining clone trooper, who seems to have trouble holding onto his gun all of a sudden. Shrugging, he chooses to not let the opportunity pass him by as it gives him the chance to aim a little better than before.
Ranged attack (blaster pistol): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage (stun): 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
Renlo Tacksa |
As the unarmed clone trooper is once again fired upon, Renlo says, "I would suggest sitting down quietly. We won't hurt you, but continuing to fight will only result in a stun blast"
Persuasion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Holstering his blaster, Renlo looks towards Corven, and asks, "You couldn't just ask them questions nicely?"
GM Han Shot First |
The clone trooper catches the stun blast square in the chest and slumps against the crates behind him.
"Bravo and well done," exclaims Captain Byrn stepping into the light, holstering his blaster. I was just about to put him to sleep for a bit."
He looks from Corven to Gotal and back. "You two were in Fischer's earlier." He taps his wrist, "Kellog, is the ship ready?"
Focusing on Gotal and Corven again. "I need to get out of here. I did not have anything to do with killing a Senator. I am being set up."
"I think I know how to prove it too, but I'll need to call in a few favors."
"Since you gentlemen seem to be the helping kind of people, I could use your assistance... and I would be willing to pay for your time. I need a message taken Senator Toora on Sy Myrth. In exchange, I'll pay you 300 credits each for the task... and I can give you use of one of my ships for the time being. Are you interested?"
He taps his wrist again, "Kellog?! Is she ready?" His eyes drift to the ramp of the freighter and notices Renlo. "Mind getting off my ship?"
Meanwhile... outside
The security guard squats and picks up her blaster.
Renlo Tacksa |
Holstering his blaster, Renlo turns and says to Moroka, "Come on down, let's chat with the good Captain."
Descending the gangplank, Renlo says to the Captain, "One of the clones took out your man Kellog. As to delivering a message, we were asked by the planetary administrator to find out what happened when the security detail escorting you to the jail was attacked. Mind filling us in, and maybe telling us who shot the Besalisk?"
Gotal of Umbara |
Gotal will step out of the cover he has taken and approach the Captain.
"While I am interested, I am curious as to why you think they may be seeking to frame you".
Moroka Janis |
On hearing Captain Byrn speak, and blaster fire cease, Moroka smiles and steps out of the ship.
"It's quite simple, I think. The empire is just established, and they seek to consolidate their power by removing lingering republic supporters, real or imagined."
She nods to Captain Byrn. "Today's your lucky day, Captain. The scrutiny that will no doubt follow today gives me an excellent reason to leave this planet. Once we've seen to the medical needs of my employer and any bystanders, I'll be more than happy to make the trip."
She then moves to Check on Jaska again, pulling the small medpac out of her belt. "Speaking of which...Is anyone here medically trained? I would like to ensure my employer's health now, if no one has any objections."
Corven Sworn |
Holstering his blaster, Corven moves to join Gotal. The Captain's proposition has certainly piqued his interest. "Proof would indeed be nice to have, sure. And a trip hardly seems too much of a bother, especially when it has credits attached to it."
Looking at some of the others around, he shrugs, "Although we are not exactly friends, or even acquaintances for that matter, We just happened to be at... well, the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is it the right place at the right time? I tend to get those confused."
He takes a better look at the Mon Calamari. "You I may have seen before. Maybe on some ship or other? I move around quite a bit."
Renlo Tacksa |
"Time enough to figure that out later, after we get some answers," Renlo responded to Corven's question. He looked familiar, too - for that matter, so did that other human, Jak. But Renlo hadn't gotten to where he was by getting sidetracked when he had a job to do. Captain Byrn seemed like a good guy, but even good people did the wrong thing sometimes.
GM Han Shot First |
Captain Byrn grimaces slightly at the mention of Kellog's condition.
“It's a fair question. My team caught up with us after we left Fischer's Place. It should have been an easy affair. We pay the bribe and slip away. These guys weren't having any of it,” he says with a nod and gesture at the clones on the floor. “Kellog was making good with Jaska when these boys stepped in. Then it got ugly.“
He focuses his attention on Gotal. “The Senator was assassinated on Onderon. I was here. I am not sure of either the reasoning or the logic. Onderon was with us; not the Republic. I was there about a week ago. Perhaps that is why I was picked.”
He looks as Moroka approaches and nods. “It doesn't feel too lucky at the moment, but the Force IS mysterious. As she moves towards Jaska, he raises his voice slightly, “He's a good being. I hope he's safe.”
He scans the group and again makes a show of pointing to the clones with one hand and his prone team on the other. “In case it's not evident. We were looking to leave and make ourselves scarce. NOT to continue to incite the enemy. They shot to kill; we've only stunned the clones. They'll live, I have to notify the families of my people.”
“Come on out Chaz. I think it's safe enough.” With that a Nemoidian steps out from the darkness, holstering her blaster. “Please go up and get the Assik ready.” The soldier moves toward the ramp Moroka and Renlo left.
Meanwhile outside
The security guard grabs her blaster and snaps off a shot.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
If she notices Jak, she'll shoot at him. If not she'll shoot at the prone Donavaan
She then dives for the comlink dropped by her partner.

Renlo Tacksa |
Listening to Captain Byrn speak, Renlo listened and watched for signs of deception.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
After Captain Byrn gives his peace, Renlo asks, "What should we tell the planetary administrator? He is expecting us to bring you back. Perhaps we could take you to him, and then we could work to clear your name? After we deliver your message, of course."
Renlo was reasonably sure the captain was a good man, but he didn't want the rest of the moon to suffer because the administrator couldn't deliver him to the clones. Regardless, Corven would need to be made scarce - he had shot two clone troopers, after all.
Jak Kato |
Jak reacts as the trooper opens fire with a red bolt of death-laden energy.
Not close enough for sneak attack, but hopefully she'll still be flat-footed.
Blaster: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
damage: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 3, 7) = 12
Yeesh. I'd spend a force point, but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to declare that before I act.
After blowing his cover Jak calls out to Donavaan, "Take cover!"
He then follows his own advice by ducking into the ship.
GM Han Shot First |
So I didn't get the chance to see if I could at least notice what she was doing?
Donavaan, you've had several chances to notice her actions. Your posts seem to indicate a total lack of interest in what's going on around Donavaan. I assumed that you were playing "drunk" near the point of stupor.
Gotal of Umbara |
Gotal spins around at the sound of the blaster shot, "We may not have time for these pleasantries, are there more coming?!"
Now I will Use the Force to sense how many life forms are in the hall.
Use the Force 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Renlo Tacksa |
At the sound of blaster fire, Renlo turns. Apparently, Corven isn't the only one who will need to be made scarce. Drawing his blaster, Renlo runs to the doorway of the docking bay and peeks out, trying to ascertain the situation.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Renlo
Captain Byrn looks slightly put off at the mention of Huuna. After a brief pause, he starts to reply
“Money can smooth many....”
A blaster shot from outside the hanger bay doors interrupts his statement and his head snaps toward the sound.
Jak
Jak fires his blaster at the security guard as she shoots. Jaks shot goes wide as she dives for the comlink on the ground. The guard has a shocked look on her face as if she's wondering where Jak came from all of a sudden.
Gotal
You spin around at the sound of blaster fire, say your piece and reach out through the Force to evaluate the number of beings in the area.
Moroka
Moroka kneels at the side of Jaska, pulling out her medpac and asks if anyone has medical training. Meanwhile, just across his body, Donavaan evaluates his flask just prior to taking a sip.
Just after which, a blaster bolt hits Donavaan followed by a returned shot from Jak and his exclamation to “Take cover!”
Donavaan
Stun Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1) = 7
You have been shot by a stun blast. You take 3 HP damage.
The shot does more to disturb your interest in your drink that any damage.
You pick up your blaster and fire. Your shot catches the guard squarely and tumbles her sideways as she dove for the comlink.
So far, the dice hold - you seem to be a deadly drunk
Corven Sworn |
"Everything alright out there?" The question is directed at Renlo, who seems to be the quicker one and has already moved towards the sounds of blaster fire. His hand does move closer to his own pistol while waiting for an answer, but not draw it yet.
Moroka Janis |
Now what?
Moroka moves to peek outside at the scene, shaking her head at the fallen troopers. Well, this certainly isn't getting any prettier...
She returns to Jaska's side, opening her medpac and doing her best to counteract the effects of his grievous wound.
treat injury: 1d20 ⇒ 8
She finds herself frustrated by her lack of experience; the field tools in the tiny pack aren't her area of expertise. she then calls out to the others. "First things first: we need to get the survivors to a medical center. There's been enough deaths already, and things are likely to get ugly here very quickly."
GM Han Shot First |
The death of the guard marks the end of combat
Donavaan returns fire at the security guard. She was diving for a comlink her partner dropped, was hit solidly and was went limp; wisps of smoke wafting into the air.
Looking at Corven, Captain Byrn notes "That shot sounded like a kill shot, not a stun blast. That could make this an uncomfortably short conversation. My ship is ready and I've lost enough people today... it's time for me to leave. The ship I mentioned is two bays down in 4D. If you and your friends are willing to take the job, you are free to use the ship. If not, leave it and the cylinder with Jaska and I'll get it some other time. At this point, I don't have any people on Burgger left to pilot it. Here is the code cylinder to get in. Let me know if you accept the job. I'll be in touch."
After Corven accepts the code cylinder, Captain Byrn turns and strides briskly to the ramp of his ship. He pauses, turns and looks at Corven again. "You may want to change the transponder information on that ship as soon as you can... yesterday it was a CIS asset."
He walks up the ramp, punches the control to close it and with a final nod, recedes into the ship.
Moroka
Renlo Tacksa |
Getting to the doorway of the docking bay, Renlo turns and sees the dead Imperial guard, with Donavaan pointing his blaster and saying he warned her.
They now had 2 problems. Corven had stunned the clone troopers, and Donavaan had killed Imperial security. Turning, he sees the ramp to the ship closing, with the Captain on board, and thinks, Make that three problems.
Turning to Jak, Renlo said, "We need to get Donavaan out of sight. That wasn't a stun blast. Corven stunned a couple of clone troopers, so he should get out of sight as well. Captain Byrn has given us a ship. We should use it. Take those two the ship and get it prepped for launch. The rest of us will rendezvous as soon as we can."
Turning to Moroka, Renlo says, "I agree, he needs a med center ASAP. Gotal," he shouts into the docking bay, "help Moroka take Jaska to the med center, then both of you get to the ship. Quickly."
Finally, with a sigh, he holsters his blaster and heads in the direction of the administration building, to tell Huuna the bad news. All of it.
Gotal of Umbara |
Gotal sighs as Donovan passes out, "An excellent idea Renlo, it appears that you and Corven will need to bring Donavaan with you. If either of you have computer skills I suggest you take the Captain up on his suggestion and change that transponder information. We have certainly gotten ourselves into deep waters here. Once we are in flight there is much to discuss such as whether we actually deliver this information to the Senator. Let us move quickly lest we run afoul of more troubles".
Gotal hefts the body of Jaska with obvious effort but does not complain about the burden.
Renlo Tacksa |
[ooc]Gotal, Move Object can be used on living creatures. At least, I've always done so. Transponders are actually governed by Mechanics - they're built-in to the engine, according to Starships of the Galaxy.
Moroka Janis |
Did somebody say mechanics? Also, I'm hoping there's a suitable place nearby for Jaska...
Moroka moves to help Gotal shoulder the unconscious Beesalisk. "We should be able to get him some emergency care nearby. I had to call them a time or two while on the job. He can be...less than precise, at times. I told him he should invest in a medical droid at some point, or at least some form of backup care..."
As they move past the motionless figures and out of earshot of any bystanders, she discretely mumbles to him, "I never graduated, by the way."
Corven Sworn |
Corven rolls his eyes and sighs as Donavaan collapses in a heap and snores his troubles away. "A very good idea, Renlo," he acknowledges as he moves to grab hold of the sleeping and drunk noble. As he does so, he focuses and gently reaches into the part of himself connected with the Force, adding its power to his own strength in an attempt to make the man's body feel lighter and easier to carry or at the very least drag. There is a hint of a smile as it actually works.
"Unfortunately," he continues after Gotal talks about the transponder, finding the task of moving Donavaan easier now, "changing transponder information is not... well, part of my particular skillset, I am afraid." He even manages a bit of a shrug despite the sleeping man's weight.
Use the Force (move object): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Corven will be following Renlo's suggestion and will be going to the ship indicated along with Jak and Donavaan.

Corven Sworn |
As Corven starts to leave in order to make his way to the ship alongside Jak and Donavaan, he takes a better look at the stunned clone troopers. He then turns back and calls out to Moroka as she starts to leave as well, looking to take Jaska somewhere where he can get some medical aid.
"Keep in mind that in the time it will take you to take Jaska to the med center and then return the troopers will probably wake up. And I am certain they will not be pleased."
Renlo Tacksa |
GM, I'm going to the Administration building. Since none of the clones saw me, I think I should be good.
As Renlo entered the administration building, he looked about for a secretary who could tell Huuna he was here.
