Jak Kato |
"We can't engage the hyper drive until we're out of atmo, I'm just going to keep pushing it."
Continue All out Move. 4 times the speed. No attacks this round.
Renlo Tacksa |
"At least by the time we can, the calculations will hopefully have finished."
GM Han Shot First |
Since all of you except Jak are Force Sensitive
As the Owl's Gambit continues to accelerate, it punches through the outer layers of Sy Myrth's atmosphere and into space.
Jak & Renlo have done an admirable getting you all out in one piece... to this point.
Donavaan calls to the crew that there is an inbound ship that's just arrived on the scene.
Each and every Force sensitive individual in the ship feels a cold, oily, slimy dark presence through the Force. The presence is full of hate, rage and fear. The owner of the oily sense seems to be sensing your connection with the Force.
Gotal, as the only trained Jedi, you are allowed to make a Use the Force to try to avoid detection, all the rest will need to make a Will save to respond in a defensive manner followed by a Use the Force to make yourselves hard to detect.
Jak you notice three B-wing fighters moving to intercept you. The lead one is painted with blood red hatching across the surface... distinctly NOT military. The two flanking units are attempting to stop your escape.
B-wing 2: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 3 - 5 = 11
B-wing 3: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 5 = 8
they are at medium distance
The laser bolts pass harmlessly by the Owl's Gambit... this round.
Corven Sworn |
"That is what I said," Corven says in response to Gotal's words. Despite the circumstances, or perhaps because of them, he cannot help but attempt to inject some levity into the otherwise dire situation.
I am going to assume it is a Wisdom check like before.
Wisdom: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Use the Force: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Jak Kato |
"Oh, wonderful. More company," Jak says while rolling his eyes.
He slows down and then immediately puts the ship into a series of random spins, while trying to find a hole to punch past them.
Fight Defensively while trying to maneuver past the ships. Since I'm not making any attacks, we gain +10 to Reflex defense. Unfortunately gunners take a -10 to attacks.
GM Han Shot First |
Round 4:
Jak starts to fly defensively.
The B-wings stay in formation. Close the gap slightly and fire again.
B-Wing 2 Laser: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
B-Wing 3 Laser: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Jak's intense piloting makes the two B-wing pilots look like outer rim farm boys. With a grim smile he continues.
The new arriving capital ship takes a maximum range shot with it's ion cannon.
A blue ball of energy as big as the ship your in hurtles through the void towards the Gambit... though there is no sound, you can imagine the crackle and hiss of the orb as small discharges dance across its surface.
Ion Cannon: 1d20 + 12 - 10 - 10 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 10 - 10 = 4
Thankfully, the defensive rolls allow the Owl's Gambit to continue on it's escape vector.
"Al...mo...ssttt...tthhh....eeerrrreee..."someone says as the
proverbial light at the end of the tunnel becomes clear.
Renlo Tacksa |
I think so. Gotal only gets to make a UtF check because he's a full Jedi.
Wisdom: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Though his training had never included what they were, Renlo knew he did not like those tendrils of anger. Willing the navicomputer to go faster, he held on as Jak began his defensive flying yet again.
Jak Kato |
Sorry, guys, I was volunteering at a convention this weekend. I thought that I had let you guys know that, but I just read the discussion board and realized that I had apparently forgotten to copy/paste that here.
"How long until we got a lightspeed solution?" Jak asks anxiously as he keeps up the evasive maneuvers.
Continue with Fight Defensively. +10 to reflex defense.
GM Han Shot First |
Donavaan stares really, really hard as the three B-wings close on the Owl's Gambit.
The B-wing with the red motif still remains silent. The two others fire their laser cannons.
B-Wing 1 Laser: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
B-Wing 2 Laser: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Both rookie pilots miserably miss the Gambit.
The capital ship is at medium range and fires a second ion blast at the escaping Loronar class ship.
Capital ship ion blast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
The gunners on the capital ship prove equally inept at hitting the fleeing Gambit.
The red B-Wing fires two concussion missiles just as the Owls's Gambit starts to enter hyperspace...
Red B-Wing Missile: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
The stars start to blur and streak by the cockpit windows. With a rushing sound and the sudden pull as the ship accelerates the battle vanishes into the distance.
Great job players... this concludes this part of the story arc! I hope you've enjoyed it to this point. My dice rolls sucked which didn't make the battle very interesting - but better luck next time. Please advance to level 3. We will pick up as the team makes it to Tatooine
Jak Kato |
The battle was plenty suspenseful, GM, let me assure you.
Jak lets our a shaky breath and chuckles.
"That was way too close."
He then hit the switch for the ship-wide intercom.
"Okay, everyone, we're in the clear. This humble pilot would like to remind you that credits make a great thank you gift for all occasions," he said with a smirk.
"Seriously though. Good work, everybody."
Moroka Janis |
Moroka exhales as the familiar sensation of a hyperdrive jump reaches her and distance starts to grow between them and the dark presence.
I think I'd rather be anywhere in the galaxy than close to that thing...
She smiles at Jak's meager jest and heads to Gotal's station, wiping sweat from her brow. "Gotal...you felt it, didn't you? That...presence? It was the most unnerving thing I've ever felt in my life. Even my master's death didn't disturb me like that. Was it the same thing you felt before?"
Renlo Tacksa |
Renlo heaves a sigh as the ship leaps to hyperspace ahead of the concussion missile.
"Well flown, Jak. That was far closer to Imperial hospitality than I care to come."
Thinking of the feeling of that dark presence, Renlo heads for his room. Once inside, he takes out the holocron and thinks, Please let this thing teach me how to hide from other Force users. I really need that right now.
Corven Sworn |
As he exits the gun emplacement, Corven walks past Moroka and Gotal. "You were not the only ones," he states simply, though he cannot hide the fact that he is shaken despite his calm and even tone. "What was that?"
Gotal of Umbara |
Gotal shakes his head, "No, the one from Coruscant was more... powerful. Still whoever that was he certainly knew we were on this ship, I imagine he would have loved dearly to find us there to link the CIS to Jedi.
Perhaps, with all of us trained in the Force against that being alone we could prevail but not like that with the Imperial ships accompanying him.
Our next stop we should check the holonet, perhaps that being will make an appearance and allow us to identify it. We already know of the one in black armor to which no name has been attached. Based on the impression I had the being may well have been Sith, a Dark Jedi at the very least.
We need to get to the Living Planet Jak. As we head to whatever destination we are bound for now, I will reach out with the Force to ascertain if I can discover its current whereabouts".
Jak Kato |
"We'll need to stop and refuel at the very least, Gotal. I understand your friends are in danger, but we're no good to them if we're dead in the water. Whatever planet we head to, we'll keep it brief. None of us are rolling in dough, but we should be able to keep the Owl flying for another trip at least. But after that, we're going to need a paying job."
Gotal of Umbara |
"Well this is less about friends in trouble and more about us getting in contact with someone that can assist us. Now that we are underway I wish to fully disclose who we are meeting with. I have had a long standing relationship with Senator Bail Organa and his aides.
While I have never worked with him directly, I spent all of my time during the Clone Wars there assisting refugees fleeing from the War and negotiating with Corporate and Banking interests to provide aid to such refugees. He know who I am as a result of my work though we have only ever met in person very briefly. Outside of Senator Amidala, I believe that he is the closest ally of the Jedi within the Senate.
I have no doubt that he can assist us in investigating events on Coruscant without us actually having to go there. perhaps through him, we can find work that will allow us to earn enough credits to upkeep the ship and I suppose eat.
To say the least, such an existence is a new experience for me".
Renlo Tacksa |
Prior to leaving the cockpit.
"I've got us heading to an out of the way, irrelevant sand ball called Tatooine. We've got supplies for another jump somewhere, so we don't need to land or stay there, but it was somewhere away from the battle."
In his rooms.
Okay, calm down. Think back to the Temple.
Taking several deep breaths, he knelt, and tried to meditate as he once had in his childhood.
Moroka Janis |
"So there are some people with some sanity left in the galaxy. Good. If this senator's trying to assist the Jedi and undermine the empire, I can't think of a more fitting employer."
Moroka pats Gotal on the shoulder. "Don't worry. Working from meal to meal isn't so bad. It's actually rather adventurous at times. Good for testing all those skills from the Order, hm?"
She then makes for the closed room, her thoughts on lightsaber practice, when she spots Renlo out of the corner of her eye, kneeling in his room with closed eyes. So he HAS had some training. Hmm.
Pausing for a moment to consider her actions, she taps on the door frame, smiling as the Mon Calamari's massive eye pops open. "You look a little un-centered. The first step to productive meditation is finding the posture that suits you best."
Moroka steps into the room, sitting cross-legged opposite Renlo, with her hands over her knees. "We washouts should stick together, don't you think?"
Gotal of Umbara |
Gotal shrugs at Moroka, "Perhaps you are right. This is not the Destiny I saw for myself when I left the Order. We must trust in the Force to see us through these dark times".
With that Gotal heads to his own quarters to meditate and fail at his initial roll, shall I roll another attempt DM?

My apologies Gotal, I failed to respond in a timely manner... yes you can make additional rolls. 5 days would allow you to have 5 rolls
Renlo Tacksa |
"What? I don't know what you're talking about. I'm certainly not a washout of anything. I was just kneeling for a bit and resting. It's very tiring, flying through narrow escapes like that. Yes, that's it. Just a quick bit of rest. Yes, that's all."
Renlo is clearly flustered at your arrival, and is obviously a very poor liar as he just seems to babble on, trying to find an excuse that works.
He's clearly lying as he attempts to hide his past. Feel free to press him and you'll probably get his life's story - or at least some of it.

Jak prepares the Gambit to transition to real space... you have arrived at the out of the way desert planet of Tatooine.
The star streaks stretch in front of the ship for a few moments as the Owl's Gambit drops out of Hyperspace. The shining golden brown orb of Tatooine grows in the view port. This system has twin suns in the distance that fill the starboard view glaring light.
Jak, you detect three main spaceports on Tatooine; Anchorhead, Mos Espa & Mos Eisley. The planet is in Hutt space. You do not detect any Imperial presence at the moment.
Corven turns on the Holonet in the lounge...
Video footage from several sources show the predawn attack of the imperial fleet on Sy Myrth. The footage ends with the ships on both sides escaping into hyperspace. The voice over of Angeel Bertund comes over the speakers...
"One week after the Imperial Navy battled the CIS remnant to a stand still the search continues for the renegade Sy Myrthian Toonbuck Toora and her cronies..."
