Too many thoughts! Too much chaos and pain. We need to leave. Donovaan says holding his head in one hand.

As the Headhunters keep coming, Corven keeps his eyes on them as his hands move ever closer to the gun's controls. As he looks on, it seems as if the lead ship shifts ever so slightly, or is it just his imagination? Leaning forward a little, he tries to discern whether his eyes are playing tricks on him or not.

Regarding the question in my previous post, I thought to provide some skill checks that may be relevant.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Corven Sworn wrote:
Does Corven understand what Gotal just tried to accomplish, either by looking at the ships and their movements or through the Force and his proximity to the Umbaran Jedi? Because if he does and since he has nothing to lose really, he may very well give it a shot himself, though the sheer size of the ships makes him think he will probably fail.

Corven, there are two ways you may notice what's going on. 1.) you have opened yourself to the Force - in which case you would be able to sense the disturbance of Gotal's usage. But you would also be "noticeable" to people looking for Force users. 2.) you can make a perception check to understand what you're seeing.

"Things are about to to get thrilling!"

Jak brings the ship up and maneuvers out of the dock.

I'll let the DM take over from here. Force Points 4/6 left.

Owl's Gambit executes an emergency start and immediately off platform 7 ; moving out and away from the space port.

The flight of three Z-95 Headhunter's shift trajectory, moving to intercept the fleeing Owl's Gambit. On the ground, the force of crisp, white clad storm troopers is actively engaged by a mixture of battle droids and living troops.

An alarm sounds almost immediately indicating that some weapon has locked onto your ship.

Your engines are screaming in complaint at not being started properly.

Both gunners are shaken in their seats as the ship lifts off. As they look out their respective ports, Donavaan sees the incoming 3 Z-95's and Corven now sees two A-wing interceptors. One is firing.

Gotal, you need to make a Dex check as you are not actively strapped in.

Moroka, you need to make another Mechanics check to quieten the engines. Indicators are telling you that the engines are in danger of going off line.

Jak, Renlo, your sensors indicate that an A-Wing interceptor has locked onto the Gambit and has actively engaged. Renlo, the incoming fire will impact the top shields.

We are in combat rounds. Please roll initiative. Jak, you are rolling for the ship, Renlo, you can "assist other."

Donavaan You have been actively "locked on" you can shoot - you need to roll Init for your action. Renlo was on the nose. 1d20+BAB+2 (with a -5, maybe)

Renlo Your "aid other" was not successful. Jak will have to go this round alone. You can roll init for your own actions at the beginning of next round.

Gotal DC15 Dex, you keep your balance. Init noted.

Moroka Mechanics w/FP was successful. The engines stay on line.
Init 19, noted. Dex 6 - not so good. I am going to say, you were able to get the engines out of the danger zone but a sudden evasive maneuver tossed you around pretty well. You go sprawling into the bulkhead - no damage.

Once Jak and Corven make their posts, we'll get the battle under way.

As Corven understands what Gotal just tried to do, he pauses, stopping himself from pulling the trigger. Breathing deeply, his mind goes back to his old friend, a friend now probably gone, and how he tried time and again to teach him how to use the Force to move small things from afar until he succeeded. "This is no pebble," he mutters to himself. "Still, for Gotal to try it, perhaps it can be done," he then reasons as he starts to reach into himself, eyes focused on the enemy starships and hands no longer on the gun's controls.

He breathes in deeply once and then a second time as he calms and centers himself. There is nothing between himself and the enemy ships, neither metal nor glass, not even blaster fire. Not sure if you meant it generally, but when Corven thought of a teacher, that was Jonas Morrow, his Jedi friend who went to lend his help in the Clone Wars and has not been seen since (there is strong possibility that he dies in the Jedi Purge, though I have left it vague and ambiguous so that the GM can do as he wishes with that particular hook). But it does seem like Gotal will become his teacher sooner or later, seeing as how I plan on having him take his 1st Jedi level as soon as we reach level 4. :-)

Gotal, since I am currently in the copilot position, I'm the only one who is able to aid another for Pilot checks. You can, however, make an attack roll against Reflex Defense 10 to give a gunner an aid another bonus. Basically feeding them targeting information.

Renlo will adjust maneuvering thrusters to allow Jak to better maneuver the ship.

Pilot (Aid Another): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

GM I must have posted the rolls in the discussion thread. I hope that they were helpful.

They were. The Owl's Gambit now has a good fake ID. Question is, are you guys using it or not?

Aid Another [Gunner Bonus] 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Thanks Renlo!

Male Human Noble 3

Isnt that up to the pilot?

Round 1
Gotal attempts to help the gunners with the incoming fighters. He stretches his feelings and tries to get a hint of what tactics are on the pilots minds. Unfortunately, his assistance does not seem to provide the aid he intended.

FYI: aid other requires a DC 10 and gives a +2 bonus{/ooc]

The lead A-wing veers towards the ascending Gambit and fires with it's laser cannons.

A-Wing Laser: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

The powerful laser pulses smash into the top shields of the Gambit.

Damage: 4d10 ⇒ (1, 5, 10, 10) = 26

The ship shudders under the onslaught, but the shields hold.

[ooc]Jak you're up. CIS or fake ID? PLUS your action

Male Human Woodsman 5 | HP 60/60 | Defense 19, T 19, FF 15 | Fort +5, Ref +7, Will +3 | Init +4 (+6 in the Blight) | Perception +10 (+12 in the Blight or vs Myrddraal; +14 vs Trollocs or Myrddraal in the Blight; +16 vs Trollocs in the Blight)

Moroka can repair the shields. It's a DC20 Mechanics check that takes three swift actions

Realistically, I don't see why we wouldn't be using the new fake ID. So that's what Jak would have used.

Jak curses when the blaster fire splashes against the shields. He adjusts a few controls to increase the speed of the ship. Swift action (increase vehicle speed).

Piloting DC 20, force point: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 + (5) = 23

Jak gets some momentum going while taking a few evasive maneuvers to avoid additional incoming fire.

Fight defensively, and move with a little more speed. +5 to Reflex defense, but -5 to all attacks this round, including gunners. Sorry, but I'd rather run than fight here.

Male HP 23/30 | R 13, F 12, W 15 | DT 12 | Per +9 | FP 4/5 | DP 1/1 | DSP 1 Umbaran Jedi

Agreed, now is the time to run.

F human jedi/3

The rumbling of cannons against ship shields brings a smile to Moroka's face as she continues her monitoring of the ship's engines.

"Someone put this bird together properly," she muses. "Good cold start, solid shields...hmmm."

She calls out toward the cockpit. "Don't be afraid to push it, boys! Let's find out what this ship can do!"

Until we take some actual damage, I'm really not sure where else to contribute. both guns are online, two pilots are flying, and a +6 mechanics isn't enough to try anything REALLY crazy just yet...

Male Human Noble 3

Male Human Noble 3

The noble will fire again.
1d20 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 5 = 0

LOL

The lead Z-95 Headhunter fires it's powerful laser cannons at the Owl's Gambit.

Z-95: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

The bolts narrowly miss to the port side of the Gambit. Jak lets out a "WHooot!" with the success of his evasive moves.

Five droid fighters come out of the pitch blackness of the night and engage the Headhunters.

Corven centers himself and reaches out through the force, he can see the flaring exhaust of the A-wings and the murderous energy bolts that periodically issue from their weapons. Then with some trepidation Corven wills the lead A-wing to slide into its counterpart.

The ship's pilot attempts to counteract the sudden movement.

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Failing that, the A-wing veers sharply into the flight path of the trailing A-wing with disastrous results. The two A-wings flare and burst into flaming balls that hurtle into the buildings surrounding the space port.

Corven is afforded only a brief moment of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment before feelings of anger and hate enter his mind. But they are not his own, instead originating from someone within one of the Imperial capital ships. It is an unfamiliar sensation, but one that prompts him to let go of actively using the Force. At least he succeeded at what he tried to do, giving Jak and the Owl's Gambit some breathing room.

"What was that?" The question is asked to noone in particular, simply a thought given voice. Over the comms, however, he says with a little more urgency than usual, "We need to leave. Now!"

Male HP 23/30 | R 13, F 12, W 15 | DT 12 | Per +9 | FP 4/5 | DP 1/1 | DSP 1 Umbaran Jedi

I will hold as there does not seem to be much for me to do at the moment.

The Owl's Gambit rockets through the atmosphere, headed for space. It's spiraling, evasive spin keeps the majority of the incoming energy bolts from getting a direct hit.

The blackness of space and the freedom it promises looms ever larger across the various view ports.

Renlo Perception:
During the upward ascent you catch sight of another flight of three fighters that launch from a relatively close capital ship. They seem to be tracking the Gambit.

Corven Perception:
You see a flight of fighters that seem to be headed your way - the owner of the black, oily tendril you felt through the Force seems to be on one of them

Donavaan Perception:
You see the field of battle cross overhead as the ship spins. You notice that roughly 180 degrees from the field of battle, a "new" capital ship drops out of Hyper space. It has a HUGE central projector for an ION weapon. If it were to hit the Gambit, the ship would be dead in it's tracks for certain

One of the Z-95 Headhunters launches a concussion missile at the Gambit.

Z-95 Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

The missile misses cleanly.

Unless there is some other action (other than firing) from you all - we'll circle around to round 3

Male Human Noble 3

Donavaan will let the group know what he sees. New ship coming in with ion weapons.
