"When you got the location, Gotal, talk to the Port Master and see if anyone has a cargo run for that system. That way we can stay in cover and maybe make a few credits to keep the lights on."

Heading to the cockpit, Renlo began trying to connect to the space port computer in order to update their navigational data.

You have a couple of options regarding the ship's transponder code. You can "mask it" which takes a mechanic roll. If you fail the roll, you may frag the sub-light engines. OR you can "disguise" the transponder code. Disguised transponder codes allow your ship to "look like" another ship of similar make. To make that happen, you have to make a Use Computer check followed by a Deception check.
Once you make those checks, that transponder code is available for your use. For every "fake" id after the first every 'Deception' roll is made with a -5 penalty (cumulative)

As you attach the ships computer to the navigation network to get the most up to date hyperspace information. As the download starts you notice that four more Trade Federation Battleships have made their appearance; bringing the total battleship flotilla to six. There are numerous... numerous tender ships in and around the flotilla.
Renlo: Please make a Use Computer check

Moroka snaps her fingers in affirmation. "The Owl's Gambit. I like that. It still has a bit of clever wisdom to it, but also has a bit of a sly, daring feel. Sounds like a name Master Skywalker would use.

You are able to update the navigation information with ease. Your data is current for the next 24 hours. While you scan, there is nothing that seems out of the ordinary... perhaps the Senator Toora was able to restart the droids on ships in other sectors.

Moving things along
Evening sets on the Owl's Gambit's second day on Sy Myrth. The celebration continues on some fronts. Local news shows the new government setting up shop. Holonet news is focused on new directives and rules coming out of the office of the Emperor. There is nothing mentioned about the events on Sy Myrth.
There is a tidbit about a bounty hunter that has captured his fourth Jedi. His name is Boba Fett.
The crew decides to sleep and leave in the morning... after having the ground crew perform a final top off service.
The total expense so far is: 200 credits for the docking fee and 500 credits for the refuel.

Corven, Donavaan, Gotal, Jak, Moroka, Renlo
======
Donavaan, severely drunk off of one of his expensive bottles of booze, makes his way to the galley with the intention of feeding his empty belly. Dimly, he is aware of a cacophony of noise from outside the ship. Explosions, turbo laser fire, more explosions, etc.
He is not sure what the annoying noises are, but they are causing him to struggle to focus on his choices of food... or it could be the dimming effect of the booze.
Too much work. Screw it. He turns and heads back to his berth.

Players. You are all asleep. Those of you that may have a vested interest in trying to investigate can roll a DC25 Will save to realize that the sounds are real and wake up.
GM Han Shot First |
Errr, wait. A will save? Those don't work exactly the same way here do they? Thought those were more passive defenses...do you just mean roll and add our total will defense, or...?
Sorry Moroka. Yes, roll and add your Wis bonus. This is not a defense, per se. You are not under attack. This is just to see if you can "will" yourself awake.
AND it is DC20 NOT DC25

Spent a Force Point, and still didn't make it.
Renlo stirs in his sleep, feeling a nudging he hasn't felt in over a decade. However, it is a sense he pretends not to have, and so he continues to sleep.
GM Han Shot First |
Ok, well that was unanticipated.
Gotal stirs at the sound of crashing dishes, slamming drawers, muttered expletives, explosions and turbo laser fire. Groggily he turns his legs off the side of his bunk and stands. After a second it registers that something is not right... Gotal slaps his hand on the "panic" button and a klaxon sounds.
On the positive side, you are going to be able to react before the ship takes the first volley of fire. My apologies for seemingly ramrodding the scene.
The klaxon is LOUD. You WILL wake up
Renlo Tacksa |
At the sound of the alarm klaxon, Renlo immediately awoke and ran from his quarters to the cockpit, discerning what was going on and activating the shields.

Renlo bumps from wall to wall as he heads for the cockpit. He raises the ships shields and scans both the computer and the viewports to try to get an idea about what's going on. Just about the time he looks to the 11 o'clock position, he sees a flaming droid fighter smash into the same platform that the YT1300 was shot off of earlier. It is clear that the newly minted Empire has returned with some additional troops.
Like rain on a hot summer's day, this debris and laser bolts start to get thicker and thicker... alarmingly thicker.
what will you do? what WILL you do?
Moroka Janis |
Moroka snaps awake with a start at the alarm, her hand going to her lightsaber as soon as her muscles find coordination with her brain. As she hops from her bunk, she spies the signs of battle outside the viewport, worry on her face.
"Oh dear..." Focus. Respond. Cockpit.
She takes a breath, resets her expression, and dashes for the cockpit, finding Renlo already responding. She slides into the copilot's seat, scanning the scene and checking systems, preparing for launch at a moment's notice.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say the Empire is after us," she quips, turning to Renlo with a smirk. "Still think staying cold is our best bet? Or shall we see what this ship can do?"
Renlo Tacksa |
"That was our best bet yesterday. Today the Empire seems hell-bent on wiping the city off the face of the planet, regardless of who's in it," Renlo says as he moves about the cockpit, getting the engines fired up. "We're getting out of here. Could you man the console down in the engine room to keep an eye on our systems?"
Turning to Donavaan, he says, "Sit. Think about calmly floating in a pond. Take a deep breath, hold it for a 10-count, then exhale over a 5-count. When you feel calm, we'll need your help."
Turning and yelling down the corridor, he shouts, "Jak, get up here!"
Jak Kato |
Jak dashed in the cockpit, shirtless and his blaster slung on his hip.
"I'm here! I'm here."
He starts firing up the engines.
"To hell with this. I don't want to fight, but I think we're past all that."
He makes a point to warm up the guns as well.
" We got guns on top and on the belly. I need two people who are not me to strap themselves in 'em. Remember, running not fighting! But if they start shooting at us, you shoot 'em right back. It's only polite."
"I'm going to try to lose 'em on the surface before we dive into the black. Renlo, find me a route that isn't completely blockaded by Imperial ships that we can punch through."
"Moroka, listen to Renlo, get in that engine room and be prepared to route all non-essential power to our shields. We may need it."
"I'm putting to sky in 30 seconds. Everyone get to their place and strap in!"
Corven Sworn |
"Well, I certainly am not you, so I suppose I can handle one of the guns," Corven replies. "Or try to at the very least," he adds then.
GM Han Shot First |
The platform the Owl's Gambit is sitting on shudders violently as the space port takes fire.
Jak starts to fire up the engines and weapons.
Moroka, Jak is starting the engines cold... DANGER WILL ROBINSON! you mind would scream. You need to make a DC 15 DEX check to make it to the engine room without getting tangled up with anyone and you need to make a DC20 Mechanics check to take the appropriate short cuts to get the engines ready for a cold start
Corven moves to one of the weapon stations.
Please make a DC 15 Dex check to make sure you're not tangled up with your compatriots. Which emplacement do you move to: top or bottom?
Donavaan, you are the wild card at this point, please make a DC15 Dex check to avoid entanglements. What is your course of action?

Moroka runs for the engine room, narrowly avoiding Donavaan but bumping into the table in the lounge. Moroka will get to the engine room next round
Jak, Moroka was not able to allow you to safely "cold start" the engines. Your choices include saying "F-it" and start them anyway or have Renlo boost shields for anther turn, or perhaps some other actiom.
Start engines will require a DC25 pilot check and don't roll a 1

Gotal will head to the cockpit as the gun emplacements are all taken care of by his compatriots.
"It seems we will be heading to Zonama Sekot sooner than I expected. Once we are away I will seek to reach out through the Force to discern its location. Something tells me that very few cargo runs were headed to that planet from Sy Myrth anyway".
Gotal seems serene in the face of the space battle playing out before him.
Gotal sees the threat that Corven detected and attempt to shift the lead ship in the Z-95 Flight into the OTHER ships alongside that Flight to buy us the Owl' Gambit a bit more time to warm up.

Renlo Tacksa |
Cursing at Donavaan's report, Renlo will continue with the startup processin the hopes of getting out of the spaceport before the troopers arrive.
Corven Sworn |
Does Corven understand what Gotal just tried to accomplish, either by looking at the ships and their movements or through the Force and his proximity to the Umbaran Jedi? Because if he does and since he has nothing to lose really, he may very well give it a shot himself, though the sheer size of the ships makes him think he will probably fail.
Renlo Tacksa |
"Stay calm, Donavaan. They probably don't have any weaponry that can affect us. If you need to, spray blaster fire in their general direction. They'll take cover before trying to shot us."
